Need suggestions for a Nook Color bag - Nook Color Accessories

What bag are you using to carry yours around town? I have a laptop messenger style bag but its too big. Post pics or links. thanks

My NC's actually in a (hand-made) padded fabric sleeve, so I can toss it in any bag with no worries. The messenger bag I use is a little bigger than a drawing pad, so it might be close to what you're looking for. Sadly, it appears Yak Pak doesn't make it any more, but the Fiona Crossbody looks like it's a similar size (10"x11").

looking to get something too.

Got this one guys. Really compact and stylish.

Very nice -- I like it.

I use a Leeds "Padfolio" that was a promotional freeby, but such things are available at office supply stores. It has a note pad on one flap.

Case Logic PDVS 4 holds the reader plus accessories, with a seperate neoprene sleeve for the NC.

Amazon.com had a decent selection of accessories for the NC, including cases. I haven't selected on yet but I need to.
I never thought of trying a portable DVD player case but the length and width are similar and it leaves room for other things. Good idea.

I was using the portable DVD player case I had formerly used for an 8.9" Netbook...worked pretty decent.
Just put the Nook it its Javoedge editor case in my work bag now, so no need for it.

I LOL'd. Daisy Dukes for the Nook Color made my morning.

Simple Overload
I have a hemp messenger bag, its made by the shoe co. SIMPLE. Pretty nice light weight and has lots of compartments, one being padded since its next to the laptop compartment, it is split into two compartments that perfectly sized to fit the NC. I see by searching its called "Overload". It also has a inlet for headphones that can string from your device out the side of the bag, in case your biking somewhere or walking and don't want to carry it openly. I use this for my ipod sometimes.
Here's a pic : http://www.planetshoes.com/mmPLANET/Images/5917/5917_753_zoom.jpg

Not sure if that's something you want but I got a neat case from eBay:
Faux Leather Case
It seems sturdy and fits perfectly. Comes with free screen protector. Only SD card is not accessible when in the case.

Timbuk2 iPad bag is nice and something I'm going to upgrade to. But at the moment, just using a Targus netbook bag. I like it cause it's compact, lots of pockets and well padded, but don't expect to fit anything bigger than a spiral notebook in there in addition to your Nook.

I use a Ben Sherman bag I got for cheap at Marshalls. Its originally made for an ipad, but the NC with a case fits perfect in there.

I use a norwood air-tex bag I got on ebay. Its the same one I linked but mine doesn't have any logo on it. I love this bag the shoulder strap is very comfortable. I carry my netbook, nook(in its case), backup battery, external hard drive, charging cables for my nook and netbook, usb cables, sdcards, flash drives etc. and I have plenty of space left for anything else I might want to carry. I could also fit two text books with all of this if I wanted to. Its prefect for what I wanted. If you can find one for sale I suggest you buy it.

Super-E-Trader does a generic car dock but it's a huge ungainly thing. Something more suited for the Samsung that isn't gonna be half the size of my little Mirage hatchback would be nice.

I just have a hard time believing that blue material is "sticky" enough to prohibit my tab from flying off there should I need to accelerate suddenly.
It's REALLY tacky. You can lift a bowling ball with that mount. Really.
Downside, that stuff is a grit magnet as well.

clingo makes products with same sticky stuff, i have couple of their products , it does get dirty and losses its "stickyness" but all you do is wash it with tap water and its back to the original sticky strength.

** tested the grip strength on the back of a sprint tab seems to work very well.
The mount shown has two adhesive pads so it should be fine
Would it destroy my nice leather Zenus if I tried mounting it?

I think the scoche would work great. Overkill really. I bought this tiny mount and it works great for the galaxy tab. My got it with an employee discount is the only reason I chanced it. That stick'em on it is surprisingly strong.
I have the Scoche mount and it works great. The suction cup is made from the same sticky stuff and really holds itself and my Tab in place.
There is a warning included that it may discolor certain materials, so it is recommended to use it strictly on glass or with the included dash mount piece. I have mine mounted to the dash using the included piece (which uses 3m tape) and it's solid as a rock. Was kinda worried about it discoloring my tab, and the Zaggskin that I eventually added, but no problem with either one so far. Holds the tab really well.
I used one of those ratchet clamp style window mounts for an old PDA that I had and hated how it gripped the PDA. It would also lose suction on the glass and fall off, especially during hot days during the summer, and really cold days in the winter. The Scoche mount stays put and holds the tab much more securely than that old clamp mount did with the PDA.

Is this the same as the one your using? Is there enough of the sticky material to hold it tight?
Thats almost exactly like mine. And it sticks perfectly. I was a skeptic, but no longer. honestly it could hold the tab upside down if needed.

Bought mine at Walmart.

OMG! The sticky stuff melted in my hot car and dripped down on my stereo buttons clogging them! I live in SoCal so it's not that hot! If you live in the US South West, don't buy this item. If you live in Alaska or Siberia, you'll have no problem with the sticky material melting and dripping.

i just bought one very similar to this at walmart for $20. i have the gs3 and i took of the side clips of the mount and i have the body glove tatic case which is a candy/gel caze and it sticks right to it. its ridiculous how secure it is and i highly recommend it. it is a very well made and designed piece. looks super clean also. the model of the one i have is:
IPH3GRR
though i cant find it online anywhere, only the IPH3GR which is different? the one i have is just like the one in the original post although the flex shaft is longer, about twice that judging from the pics. my kit from walmart consisted of this: http://www.scosche.com/consumer-tech/product/2097 with the exception that it also included the window mount.

found it on ebay actually, $12.99 free shipping. the one i have.

The roocase is nice. I'm using it now. I good quality and durable, a bit on the thick side, it has multiple angle viewing for portrait mode, and will hold itself up in landscape too. Overall I like it better than any other cover available. You do have to unplug from power to open the case, this is very annoying. I I wish it moved the the plug to the side, but beggars can't be choosers.

I know that a company called Abas (do a google search for Abas Accessories if you're interested) will be having some cases for the NookColor in the near future. They will be similar to their Tabbed Folio cases for the iPad and have the kick stand built into the case for 2 different viewing angles. I am really excited - I've bought several notebook & iPod cases from them and they're beautiful cases.

It'll fit in the first one, but the leather across the top will cover the top half inch of the screen. You could possibly trim the leather to fit, probably not worth it.
I currently own the executive tan case for the NookColor from B&N, and I just ordered this kickstand:

I use a Spiderpodium by Breffo as a stand, the original works just fine and is smaller to fold up and take with you, cheaper as well than the huge tablet version. Also can work as a tripod for a camera, stand for cellphone, etc.

I ended up getting of of these at Target for $5 and it works very well: http://www.target.com/2-Pk-Easels-6/dp/B002C5M4D2/ref=sc_qi_detailbutton. I also padded the back half of the ledge with foam strips (the kind you put on car speakers) to put the nook in between that and the lip so it is nice and sturdy.
Folds up decently well. I will have to see how it holds up to travel.

Thanks for the pic so we could see the device on a NC. Question, do you think two of the arms would be able wrap around a headrest bar in a vehicle? I saw a sample of that option in an amazon picture with a cell, but wasnt sure if possible with a larger NC?
Yep, the one in the picture is the smaller, orginal spiderpodium.
I'm using one I bought from Barnes and Noble that works pretty well and has a flip style with kickstand but after seeing the roocase I'm wishing I would have went with that.
Anybody have one of these from BoxWave?
There are zero reviews for it on Amazon. Looks nice, good price, and I want something w/ a kickstand.
Thanks.

My DIY Nook Book Cover

So I decided to make my own book cover...
I bought a hardcover book at goodwill and cut out all the pages. Bought some liner paper at a local fabric store, along with thin cardboard sheets. I cut the cardboard sheets to fit inside the book and covered the cardboard with the liner paper. Hot glued some elastic and long story short here you go:

Your's looks pretty cool. I like the exposed book. The book I used was really old so I had to cover it.
Woah! You're both very, very good! Time to go into business! I do wonder about the durability of elastic bands holding the NC corners though. I suppose if you get good quality ones and fix them well, they should last for quite a while.
Anyone else with diy book covers to inspire us?
Awesome work fellas! =)

Do yo have a step by step log showing how you did that? Looks great!
That first case is very nice. I came across that layout after getting a notebook at Walgreens that was about the size of the Nook. It protected the screen, but I wanted more than that. I wanted something I could carry without worrying about smooshing and which could be an easel.
I wound up investing WAY too much time getting to where I am, but I like a lot of what I've got.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=537935&d=1299698667
The case is based on a canvas hardbound sketchbook (I just feel wrong killing a book to house an e-reader) and goes from there to build in a wood frame, a strong magnetic closure, and high-friction surfaces (velvet and corduroy) for the inside front and outside back covers to keep it from skidding off when laying down. There's a little velcro "tail" that can be used to support it like an easel in landscape mode, and a seatbelt to help it resist falling over. I'd hate to add velcro to the interior to hold it in place, but it could be done. I'm still thinking about how to do something more like a slide-in channel to really hold the device between the upper and lower posts.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=537936&d=1299698667
Total materials cost is pretty high, probably around 20 - 25 bucks. And build time is more manageable now, but it was off the hook when I started, of course.
I'm very pleased with the overall design.
The main thing I like about all the actual book book-based designs is that they don't scream "I have a fancy electronic toy."
Has anybody tried gluing some velcro strips on the back of the nook and on the cover to hold it instead of the elastic bands?
That would totally work. In my case, I decided that I wanted this case not to have that.
The old Handsprings had a manufacturer supplied cover that was very elegant - it snapped into a hardshell with "fangs" top and bottom to protect teh face. To use, remove from the fangs and face out. I had no problem putting velcro onto the cover, then putting that into a nice Body Glove zipper case.

I was thinking of using some double sided acrylic foam tape from 3M. I have LOADS of that stuff at home. But i like the idea of being able to remove the Nook Color. The Velco would be the ideal way to go if you wanted to remove it, however to strong of a Velco and you'll end up bending the card board of the book cover....I think i might end up using the bands to hold it in place and some light duty velco to keep it from sliding around.

iOttie Car dock, not bad for $20

Got myself a cheap temporary dock for my Note 2 until I get the ProClip one in a month or two (waiting till after xmas). Found this one on Amazon for a nice $20. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007FH716W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I like it so far. Very stable and has a good range of motion to it. No vibrations at all, (does start shaking a little bit when doing 150).
Also works nicely to hold it as a dash camera.
Also holds my phone with no problem with the Body Glove case on it.
Oh and that white square isn't part of it. Thats one of my NFC tags to start Waze and CoPilot whenever I put it in the dock.
Feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them as best I can.
Anyway, here's some pictures:

This dock is technically one of those "universal ones", but it works well because of the spring loaded lock.
When you press the phone in, it hits this little button and snaps the side grips closed on your phone.
Then once they are closed, to release, just press these two and it unlocks the phone.
And nice thing is, because of how you have to release it, the phone will fall into your palm and you can just grab and go.
thanks for posting this, looks like a nice mount, the only thing i wish it had was a built in microusb cable to automatically start charging without me having to connect it lol
+1 for STi
/highfive
The nice thing is that it will grab textured dash just as well. Mine has been on my dash for over a week and it is not losing it's grip.
Do the holders at the bottom block the mic?
Thanks for the pics and the review, I've been looking for a cheap dock. The phone falls out of the cubby holes in my car's dash. lol
can you show a picture with the arms at their WIDEST with the phone in it ? IE how much "wider" can it go? (my cases add a lot of bulk to the phone)
I don't know why you guys buy car dock for. Its big and ugly. Its always in the way. It looks like a cawk sticking out from the windshield. Its best to get a 1 inch rubberband and 3 dollar case and modify it. I had it done on my sg2. I'm waiting on my case and will post pictures later.
because in order to use the phone case as a dock you need to use the phone SANS CASE and that is not acceptable to me
as for why a dock? thats easy. fumbling with the phone while driving is a good way to die and possibly kill others ie don't do it.
dock makes it convenient. Slip Grip made a case for the impact case I use for the S3 hopefully they will make an impact case for the Note II and hopefully slip grip will make a grip for the Note II in the impact case

Your bulky case couldn't possibly be bigger than this behemoth:
There is still a couple of mm on each side so it wil accomodate even an otterbox defender is my guess.
actually that's what I call a slim case the cases I use feom case ology are quite a bit thicker in both thickness and width

Nexus 10 Poetic Durabook Case - Now $9.99 on Amazon

On Amazon right now you can find the Poetic Dura Book leather case with auto-sleep/wake function for $9.99. That is a $20 - $30 dollar savings. I have an Amazon Prime account, which means I bought it yesterday at 4:00PM & received it today at 2pm for an additional $2.99 for next day air saver shipping via UPS.
You can find the deal here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AAKLMUC/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
There is no picture on the page, but I can confirm receiving the DuraBook, which is nice as it doubles as a removable device sleeve & has a handstrap on the back of the insert for easy reading in portrait. It attaches via Velcro, which allows for the device to sit in the stand/cover portion of the case in either landscape or portrait.
This has all of the camera & speaker cutouts with open access to the buttons, pogo pins & ports. It is a GREAT case & would be worth 30.00 in my opinion, which it normally retails for (the Note 10.1 DuraBook is 25.00 on sale right now) so it is an amazing deal for $9.99 USD. Prime Members get free second day shipping as it is Prime eligible, don't wait only 11 left!
BTW, I am in no way affiliated with Poetic. I am not receiving anything from them, nor have I ever reviewed or been asked to review any of their products.
As the Amazon page lacks pics, I will up a few for you to check out.

I found a review of the Nexus 7 Durabook. Is this pretty much the same case, resized/recut for the N10? If so, sounds like a great deal.

Hi, thanks for showing the case, it looks really good!
Just one concern, is the case material strong enough to hold the tablet in portrait mode when you are working on it, say typing or tapping on the tablet?
Some of the rotating cases (for ipads) that I've used in the past wobble quite a bit when in portrait (and to some extent in landscape mode as well) when you press on the tablet.
Thanks!
Really wish those straps inside the case were blue instead of red :/
Seems like they went out of their way to make this thing ugly. Good deal though.

Leather...?
Not a bad case for the money,,,I just wish they knew the difference between Leather and Pleather. Don' call it leather when it's clearly NOT!!!
Can someone enlighten me as to what the point of the strap at the bottom of the case is? Mine has a piece of velcro on the one side but not the other, and since there is no cloth on the inside of the case I had to use some Velcro circle stickies I had laying around in order to get it to stay shut...maybe I missed something?
Pictures of what I am referring to are attached.

Does it get tucked under tablet to keep it in? I have a BT case for a Xoom with a flap like that.
