HD Glass Icons Released - Captivate Themes and Apps

Here are the icons I have been working on for the past few days. Credit for the original HD Icons goes out to mikebeecham for his icons which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828832
I just simply made a "matte glass" template and imported his icons. I did one for almost ever app that I use on my homescreen, so there are a few major ones missing. However, inside this .rar file you will find a Photoshop template. Just download the original HD icons, import the desired icon into the "icon(REPLACE)" layer, resize to fit, save as a .png with transparency (its important that you enable transparency) and copy to SD card. To get the most out of these icons, use Desktop Visualizer. Download from the market, install, and add a 1x1 widget to the desktop for each icon. Pressing it will bring you to the settings for that widget. Simply browse to the file on your SD card, select the desired app, use no text and a transparent label, and your good to go. Below are some screens of my current setup to show you how they look in use. Please enjoy, and upload pics of any icons you create so we can all see!
Thanks guys. -Steve

How would you install these to replace all app icons?

You need to use
A. An app that allows custom shortcut icons like folder organizer or bettercut.
b. A lot of work that will break updates from the market on a lot of apps.
A. Tends to be the better choice.

Yeah i search all the time for an app drawer replacement that will let you do just that... it doesnt exist.. and i dont know why. The one way i did it was to use folder organizer, replace all the icons with folder organizer. Then take a folder organizer folder with all the apps in it and drop it on my dock in place of the app drawer in launcher pro. Basically used a folder as my app drawer. It did the job but was still a pain in the ass.

[REQ]Icons for mail/messages

Okay so I was browsing this forum a while back and I remember coming across a thread/post that had multiple icons for notifications, e.g an icon for gmail and then an icon when you get a few mails etc
I can't seem to find that again despite busting my ass looking for it
So I was wondering if something like that actually exists and if it's possible to use icons like that via bettercut/folderorg lite? I have a HTC Desire so unfortunately metamorph is out of the question...

5noc, yes!
But not for launcherpro/ADW launcher. I'd like to be able to stick it on the homescreen.
Though if you can guide me the way of icons of that fashion that I can use in docks too I'd appreciate it tremendously!

In my Hero the stock SMS icon when placed in the homescreen does that without any modification, running stock 2.1, then again it may be because of Sense, I don't know
What you see in my screenshot is LauncherPro, to customize the icons of your dock just create a folder in your SD called "Custom" or whatever you like and put there the icons, for that screenshot I used the RoughDraft icons founs in MacThemes (http://macthemes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16803227), they already have transparency so you only have to copy-paste the ones you want into the SD folder.
Next press the icon in your LauncherPro dock that you want to change and select "Change icon" from the menu that will pop up, open the Gallery and select the icon you want
When you are done, if you create a blank file in the folder where you have the icons and rename it to ".nomedia" without the quotes, the images inside that folder (the icons you're using for the dock) won't apear no more in the gallery when you open it to see your camera pictures.

A simple icon can not do that, it would have to be either built into the launcher or it would need to be a widget (Handcent has that). They might have some widgets on the market
thank you guys!

That would be considered Warez, no? It is a paid font, and cost upwards of $150 USD.

Widget Locker No tabs.

I was wondering if someone could mod the app widget locker so that on the lockscreen it wouldn't have those ugly tabs.
Or does anyone know an app that allows widgets on a lockscreen that doesn't have the tabs?
What tabs? You mean sliders maybe?
If yes, you can move them. Just long press on them.
go to look & feel and change slider layout to no sliders.
if there are sliders on the lockscreen, just long press in between em and remove.
ok you guys kind of misunderstand me. Which is understandable.
Here is what i mean.

Wish it were...they're .9.png's, so the process is a bit more difficult, unfortunately.

download the file, under minimal mods, look under drawable-hdpi, use the "jog_tab_bar" and "jog_tab" and use that to replace the ones in widgetlocker

[REQ][MOD] Smart Shortcuts/Apps Organizer/Folder Organizer

I was wondering if someone could mod any of these? I'm failing miserably. >_>
I'm still trying though!
Basically, my homescreen looks like this:
http://i52.tinypic.com/33bjrdg.png
and those words are folder shortcuts via Desktop Visualizer,
and it opens a folder using Smart Shortcuts.
Problem is, that folder is a little unsightly compared to my theme.
I was wondering if someone could help me mod them so they are little sexier?
Something just black, with a 60% transparency, like Tajm and Battstat?
Thanks! If I get one anyways.
good idea... I just busted open the res folder of Folder Organizer and cant figure out what file controls the folder's background
its probably a xml file, which I have no idea how to alter

Its like that with the other two. I've been experimenting with all the xml's I can find.
I tried a few weeks ago for about 10mins no luck though, no time to try again........it'd be nice if someone can figure something out
It's the only thing that's missing to make a complete theme for me.

its a .9 image file, most likely
those are tricky to edit, but for what you want... it can be done easily, well for me lol
Try Apps Organizer. The screen/folder that pops up isn't too bad. Better than the standard one at least. It is transparent.

The skins are for widgets, but I made it brilliant! This is like exactly what I was looking for.
And, btw, I'm nowhere NEAR done with my theme/layout. Think bookshelf O:
And, if I release it, (not entirely sure yet) I'm going to do several colors, yellow being one ;D
How can I change my camera Icon on the Homescreen?

Black minimal Icons

I've made my own minimal icons to mimic the ones by Ultralinx, but in black.
I thought you guys might want them, I think they look a lot better with themes like Revolution that have very dark status bars.
Two PSD files, a font, and a readme file are included to help you make your own icon.
You need to use desktop visualizer to apply these icons, and use astro to choose the file instead of the gallery, because the background of the previews in the gallery is the same color as the icons and you cant tell which is which

SiMi Clock
Ok, I use SiMi Clock too, but how are you getting an extension of the vertical line in SiMi? Which beautiful widgets weather skin is that?
What weather widget is that you're using?
Confused.
Im sorta at a loss here, I have used to Desktop Vis. as well as setting up me icos side to side of the "Launcher Pro" home icon. How do I change that one and get the "Launch opition for the Apps menu".
Im currently running 1.4.1 Blackhole with Launcher Pro.
Do I need to Uninstall Launcher Pro and then apply?
Also how are you getting the extension of the black line on SiMi??
EDIT: The weather is Beautiful Widgets and the skin is called "Tick"
Still can't figure out how to get the extension of the line down and how to pull the weather all to one side, I'm still getting it all the way across with NO black line.
Also whats the Wallpaper your using? Looks really nice together.

I used Launcher pro (needs to be the pay version, free doesn't support resizing).
Add the weather widget.
Add Simi clock.
Position the weather widget where you want it to be
Hold on the Simi clock widget to activate launcher pro's resizing.
Drag the box down as far as you want.
The line should extend down as far as the box is drawn.

[How-To] Place Transparent Icon over icons embedded in Wallpapers.

Yeah! Those icons on the shelves, below the Jorte calendar are launchable icons. The icons are embedded into the wallpaper onto the shelves (which are embedded as well).
I have seen in a couple of threads, people asking for tips and tricks (T&T) on how to do this, and it has been explained by kind sharers many times over. Thought I would create this thread for those in need, and keep other threads free from clutter!
For this tutorial, I would be sharing T&T on using ADW Launcher (or ADW Launcher Ex), because that's the only launcher I use, which in my personal opinion is a great launcher. I would sincerely request that other launcher users, like LauncherPro or GoLauncher, to share their details here too, and I will update this post with the relevant launchers.
So here we go.
How to embed shelves and icons?
There are software like photoshop (payable) and GIMP (freeware) which allows you to do editing easily. Shelves (various designs of them!!) can be found at deviantART. Simply use them, open with GIMP, place the shelves at where you want them to be on the wallpaper. Done. Same applies to icons.
How to make them launchable?
For this, we need a transparent icon, which I have attached here. [Please click on it, let xda open it up in preview, and save it from there. Otherwise, right-clicking+save removes the transparent effect.] Save the transparent icon into your sd-card.
1. Go into your launcher, press and hold on the app (for example bar-code scanner) and drag it to the home screen.
2. Place it over the embedded icons.
3. Using the adw launcher options, press and hold on the app icon, on a pop-up dialog, hit the "edit" button.
4. Press the icon, it will ask where you want to get the icons from. Select "Select Pictures" and select "Gallery"
5. Select the transparent icon which you saved in your sd-card. And Done!!
Notice
Sometimes you have different set ups. For mine I have 4 Icons in a row on a shelves, and 2 shelves. Having a 4x4 homescreen doesn't allow me to place the app icons at where I want them to be. So I would need to create more rows and columns for my screens. ADW Settings > UI Settings > Screen Preferences > Desktop Columns or Desktop Rows. Personally I have a 8 columns by 10 rows set up.
I am done here. Once again, fellow alternative launcher users, please PM me or comment here on how you do your stuff! I would be more than happy to update this post with other alternatives.
Post Reserved.
