[Q] words with friends for tablets? - Xoom Themes and Apps

Anyone know where I can find the words with friends the tablet edition? I see it posted with reviews running on a xoom but I can't find where to actually download the table version.

In the market, click games on the right side and under "Featured for Tablets" it should be listed. I have not tried it though.

Well I was curious and installed it but it looks more like the phone version than a tablet version to me. It does seem to work though.
EDIT: The tiles seem to be covered at the bottom by the status area. I guess this will not work. I am using Wordfeud which is not tablet but it does work 100%.

This is most definately not the tablet version. Zynga has their head up their ass.

There hasn't been an update released since a week before the XOOM's release, so I'd imagine it will be updated in the near future to be compatible with Honeycomb.

Hello Timothy,
Thank you for contacting Zynga With Friends Customer Support.
The app in Google Marketplace is actually the same app some users are playing with on their Motorola Xoom. However, we've been getting some bug reports lately that the scaling issue of the game is not compatible with the display screen of the device.

They posted an updated app this morning. Just go to My Apps in the marketplace and should show an update.
Still not the same one from the videos, but its now playable as you can see the letters.

Yes it definitely is not the version they were demoing as tablet optimized but it works now like a giant version of the phone app

I contacted Syntax about the matter and this is the response I got from them about 2 minutes ago.

STOP POSTING THE CANNED RESPONSES YOU ARE GETTING FROM THE DEVELOPER!!!
if you get something substantive, by all means, share, but there are now 3 almost verbatim posts of the bot-ish response. we get it, they are working on it...
that is all. sorry to rant.

And what of substance are you adding to the conversation?
If you read my post would see that there is a difference from the others. They have changed their stadsrd boiler plate answer and now have admitted that the one found on the market is not the one optimized for tablets. Please stop telling others what they should or should not post.

No problem.
I would note that the email I got was AFTER the update was already in the Market. So I surmise that the tablet update is still pending.

Wanted to share some more information. After further email exchanges I was able to gather from Zynga that the current update in the market was immediately put out to address the issues that made WWF unplayable on the XOOM. However he did confirm that their will be a"special" update coming soon for tablets.
I don't mean to reiterate anything you already know but I thought I would just recap.

GV invitation anyone?

So, I've been waiting for months and months, and really would love to use the Google Voice thing on my G1. Never used Grand Central.
The Google people seem way too slow and love to tease
Anyone can help? I'd appreciate very much..
TIA...
As of right now, I've not seen an option to invite folks. I got mine a few days ago via signing up on the Google Voice site. It'd been about a month or two since I had last signed up to test it. I've had numerous folks asking me for an invite, but unlike Gmail, I've not seen an invite feature. Guess you just have to be patient until Google picks you.
I'm a GC/GV beta tester, and one of the option's it shows in the control panel is Tell A Friend. I've never used it, and it's not very descript at all. I don't know if this feature will get you an immediate acct or just have you sign up to be notified whenever it does go out beta. I'll be glad to give it a try if want. Shoot me a private message msg here on XDA with your email address. It's worth a shot I guess.
where are you seeing that?
Been a GC/GV bet bunny since GC popped into existence. Never seen that option to "tell a friend". Maybe I don't really have any friends? Or maybe its new? where are you seeing that, under Settings?
I was one of the first to sign up and I got mine a couple weeks ago, it doesn't appear that I have any invites to share but here is the link from Google.

I tried to register for invites (2-3 times maybe, since March or so, with different email IDs) and now it's July and I still got none from Google!

Yes I did... At least 2 different @gmail addresses... But 4-5 months is a bit long time and kind of frustrating... Esp. it could be very useful for my line of work (if the features they promise are true) plus would make my G1 phone more of what it should be...

I'm in VoIP / 3G / satellite business and yes it's kind of a drug I guess. Especially I am addicted to my G1. I'll seek professional help, I swear.
I just got my invite on Thursday, applied back in March with a gmail address. I have been using PF Visual Voicemail and it's been great, but the Google service is clearly better for those us running most of our email/phone/messaging lives via Google. Hope you get your invite soon, it's definitely a winner!
Anyone know if a Google branded app will be released soon? The GV app is good, but I'd love to have another option as well.

A quick update:
So, this morning I finally received the official Google Voice invite from Google.
Now, imagine my absolute joy and relief, that after waiting for it since March (!) I click on the link in that email only to see
"Google Voice is not available in your country.
Thanks for visiting Google Voice. We're not yet open for users outside the US, but are planning to expand our service to additional countries in the future. "

x911 exclusive droid X rom

Hello everyone. Well I have some free time now and have decided to make a rom exclusively for the X. It will be called x911. After testing out a few and not finding exactly what I like, I decided to start this project. So If anyone is interested in testing a beta, giving some input/requests on certain features etc, let me know. Updates and news about dev will be on "thevideomole" .com - can't direct link sorry. Just sign up for an account and follow my wall if your interested in participating, or just want to know about the rom, release date etc. Thanks.

I'll test for you, no problem.

Well who am I is kind of a weird question. Who are you? Anyway I made a crude boot animation for my x911 AOSP Froyo Rom, needs much polishing but the concept is there. Video is on the site previously posted. This weekend that should begin and I can begin coding.

I don't think that a person asking about your background or experience is kind of a weird question. To be honest I normally close threads like this because its been my experience that ROMS are never produced. Perhaps you if you are soliciting feedback you may post a beta or test ROM you are working. Guys in this forum are used to a lot of fake posts.

Exactly...I didn't mean who are you on a personal level, I meant it as, who are you as it pertains to the Android Community. I write articles and news that's Android related, and have been around for a long time in the forums, but I have never heard of you or your brand of ROMs. So I meant who are you as a Developer or Chef, because maybe you are an experienced Dev and I just don't know of you. But also you could be that kid jdkclipse from the incredible and other forums...some might know that drama.
Either way though, if u have a ROM, just post it and a screenshot and a detailed changelog/info on it, no need to open a thread until you have that.
Cheers!
i would love to test. I'm also feelign the same way you are on roms. I wanna build my own too but not much help for the Droid x. We may can collaborate to make a pretty good rom

Hey GrilledCheze
Are you still on board?
I don't know who to contact about this, but I would LOVE if the developer of the NFL mobile app could be interviewed about paving the way for android custom UI. Back when the Droid I first came out this app was available and it featured a completely custom UI. Custom options menu, loading image, streaming video content as well as radio feeds. this app really did it all and was free for Verizon users. It still is free but has gone through many changes since its original inception. Please find a way to interview the original dev on this app because I think he deserves some kind of award.
Give us more details about him so we can make contact to see the option for the interview, thanks
Damn, I've been researching on google for a bit now and I can't figure out who the dev was. The app page just says verizon wireless.

[Request app] minecraft?

I have come to like the game minecraft and I was wondering if anyone had heard word of putting it on android. I have looked on the market but didn't know if any of my fellow nerds had tackled this yet.
The entire game is only 256K or something, don't know if that helps any. The reason I'm looking is my phone handles graphics much better than my laptop and it is portable.
I appreciate any help, I'm just not sure if anyone has tried this or anything similar, but I don't know the difficulty of putting apc game on a phone (imagine it's difficult, but the sims 3...)
Thanks in advance
Posted however I damn well please
Why do you ask this in a forum for fascinate theming? Go to the main android xda forum that isn't specific to a phone.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Ummm... yeah
First off, minecraft is not open source, it'd have to be ported by notch + friends. Secondly, minecraft is extremely intensive and unoptimized, theres no way its gonna run on our phones. Thirdly, our phones are only running games at 800x480, and the games on android are not comparable to pc's graphically. And lastly, Sims 3 for android and pc are entirely different entities, its not a straight port. Less geometry, lower quality textures, etc. etc.
They are supposed to release a minecraft app. It was all over the net

It may have received more attention in the main android app section but this is the right spot, I agree.
I have not played minecraft personally but I do not know why people think it cannot be possible on android platform. Look at some of the other games on the market. Dungeon Defenders for one has seemingly good graphics and is on android.
Thanks for the responses guys, my bad if this would have been more appropriate in general android, it was just really late when I posted. I'm excited to see they are talking about porting it later this year or 2012, I'm interested to see how it runs on our phones.

I didn't say it was necessarily the wrong section, i only asked why he would post in such a specific section that has almost nothing to do with his request. This is a forum for sharing themes and apps, not app development.
Love minecraft. The launcher is only 256k, the game needs a bit more. in its current form it uses nearly a gig of ram. As it its now, running minecraft isn't gonna happen. Notch says there working on a port, but that will be a while.

AFAIK, Minecraft is coming in some form to iOS in 2012. Didn't hear Android.
Not trying to bring up an old thread but it looks like Minecraft app is getting close to release on Android. I do not know if it will be for Xperia Play phone only or all phones.

Fedora?

I read about a Fedora 18 installer for our Touchpads. Does anybody know anything about this? Does it have a newer kernel than we are using for Ubuntu? Sound? I'd try it myself, but I'm out of town for the week without reliable internet (well, I have enough to post forum messages, but not enough to download great big tarballs).

Looks like he started working on it about 3 days ago. You probably could install it using that guide but we should probably wait until this person officially releases it.
"This person" is Rob Clark, the guy who writes Freedreno. He's posted it to his blog here, so I don't know how much more official of a release it could be.
