This didn't work for me (Eclair) and hosed my Home screen. Repeated reboots led to the activate prompt, which fails regardless of net connection status. Had to use B&N native access to Apps, and 'Home Switcher' to recover my Zeam homescreen. :|

Is this appropriate for the NC? Does it have a bunch of "phone" stuff that can't be hidden? I have dnlded it & will wait to see some examples of it's functionality.
Watching for all you creative people that are smarter than me to give it a review.
Cheers,

that sure is sexy looking

It looks great. Still don't know how to setup everything yet but this looks so much better than Honeycomb.

OK, should have taken notes. What were the installation steps? They, along with the link, have disappeared.
Cheers,
kev

Mine keeps saying "device not supported" after I click to activate, and then it FCs... any ideas? Is there a step I'm missing, or something?
I uninstalled it for now...
(Autonootered 1.01)

Anyone have this working & have any comments? Need the installation steps, as they have been removed from the link. I know this is unreleased Beta, but I would like to try it. PM me the info, if it's not appropriate to continue posting in this thread.
Thanks,
kev

I would really like to get this working as well. I got it installed, but it says "device not supported" If there is a way to get it working, I would be very appreciative of a little help.

Hm... thats actually pretty nice.

I went to Market & then App Brain & tried to dnld Stupid Zombies. Had to reboot it after it froze. Now when I try to launch spb, I get the activate screen, press yes & then get an activation screen that says, Activating SPB Mobil'e Shell..." with a cancel button. It will not proceed beyond this point. If I press Cancel, OH WAIT!! It finally went to the next screen then the normal "device not supported" screen. Took a looooong time, as compared to previous startups. It's back up now. I started to abandon this post, but will post it in case someone else has the same problem. Haven't customized it yet. Lots to learn. This app may be worth the asking price. We'll see.

"device not supported"
I get "device not supported" on my NC running phiremod nook V4.. Any ideas on how to get it to work?
Thanks!

I get the same "Device not Supported" message each time I register it. Then it just works. Don't know the implications, but it seems to be fully functional.
Cheers,
kev
P.S. Can't figure out how to rename panels or set SPB to switch to landscape. Anyone?

Trial period!
Hopefully this beta release has this turned off???
Quote from 3.5 user manual:
"Registration
You will be able to use SPB Mobile Shell until the end of the trial version period of 15 days. If you have not
registered SPB Mobile Shell within this timeframe, you will need to do so to continue using it.
To obtain the serial number you need to purchase a SPB Mobile Shell software license and you will receive your
serial number by e-mail."
My concern is that I will like this app. & will not be able to buy a copy that I can register on the NC.

I got the same error. If I wait about 1 minute (maybe less) and then dismiss the error, the SPB works.
While visually impressive in an "ooooooh! Shiny things!" sort of way, there's a few issues:
* The 3.5 beta that I was able to install is clearly designed for a smaller screen. The icons and the spacing on the spacious 7" NC screen is HUGE. I can't find a way to change the resolution to take better advantage of the large screen.
* The SPB launcher does not toggle between portrait and landscape. Bummer.
* The animations in the carousel mode don't really serve any purpose beyond being dancing bologna.
* While SPB touts a great deal of customizability, however that appears to just be at the surface level. I can't find a way to change fonts, tab labels, or set individual panel wallpapers.
I don't know that this will be quite worth $30.

Darn it. I get a "device not supported" error. How did anyone manage to make it work.??

All I needed to do was remove the Zeam launcher from being the default action of the "n" key. Reboot. After unlocking, the NC will prompt you for which launcher to use. Select the SPB. It will go thru the activation process. When you get the unsupported device message, just dismiss it.

transparent title and tasks bar?
I was wondering is a way to use this and have the transparent title and tasks bar like in htc album. I think that will be tight.
Great hack, thanks a lot.
On my htc tytn II, the tray bar disappears when I install TodayShrink. Any solution to this problem appreciated.
I was very happy to see this hack...but when I tried it and reset....
Yes, my softkey bar was gone, but my today app (Pocketbreeze) did not take up the space (it is set to auto size).
Any ideas as to why that would be?
UPDATE: Got it working. If I added another plug-in (which did use the new space) and then removed it, PocketBreeze expanded to take up the new space. Kinda odd...but I am glad it is now working.

Try renaming the vijaytodayshrink.lnk file in \Windows\StartUp to 1vijaytodayshrink.lnk and do a soft reset. It works for me as it will load the TodayShrink program before the tray itself.

You might ask if vijay555 is the creator.
I'm guessing because of the vijaytodayshrink.lnk that gets added to the startup folder at install.
Is it VJToggleToday II Alpha?
There's a thread on this forum about it.
It was, and always will be, an Alpha release, as I have since internally updated to Version IV.
However, version IV has not been released yet. If version 2 does the job for you, great. However, it was never designed properly for VGA screens and onthe fly correction (eg when rotating), has an issue with the phone on Palm devices, and doesn't deal with the tray properly.
Hopefully all of those issues are fixed in Version IV (except for the Palm thing, which I can't test!)
V
PS note that there is a -config command line to allow you to change settings.
an "Auto-Hide" feature would be great on this!!..
(just like the windows one! when you auto-hide the bottom bar)
I don't get it, is this a rip off of vj's app or what? If it is, then this is the second time on these forums just today that I've seen an author rip someone else's work and call it their own. If that's the case... bad karma man. If it isn't, please feel free to explain.
Yeah, just tested it. This is my VJToggleToday II Alpha.
Hmm, that's a little bit odd how it's become PCM Shrink.
Maybe the same "author" can do a little "PCM Pay Vijay555's Mortgage" as well, if he wants to take credit for some more of my stuff.

Problem is, when its done, the alarm is too quiet. Would you be able to ask on the forum if he could make a configurable alarm sound so i could choose my own sound for example.
Also if you could make the count down time in full screen would be great.
Obviously all this is if you get the chance. Dont worry if you dont

I found if you hold stylus on the white part you get a menu that pops up. It allows you to set the stopwatch color (of the digits) and change the alarm. Those it seems the alarm sound has to be a windows media format. the only other option I had from my device was the dogbark file.
It limited but something.

Me. I use WM 6.1 with this soft flawlessly. It keeps counting properly after Off-on or Sleep-on.
I'm looking for something where I can configure an alarm every 30 seconds or so. Anyone know of anything, I want functionality similar to the stopwatch Timer '08 for my Mac.
problems with Stopwatch
I downloaded the Stopwatch cab to my Fuze and found several problems.
1. It only goes to the second. Not much use for timing laps on the track, etc.
2. The Start/Stop button was partially covered by the Reset button.

Release of SMSCatcher, with source code. No skins attached...

Thanks to a few people in my FSD Call Capturer thread, I've started thinking about a possible SMS interceptor with a more finger freindly design. I've already got the hard part coded (as in, I can capture the SMS messages) but I have no graphics talent of my own, and I'm not that inventive, so, who wants to give me some ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Source code is in post 41 and post 42.
Id like to see a Full screen contact photo with incoming SMS. Thanks!
Hi L3v5y,
1) if it's posisble disable the system notification.
2) Make an apps who show the sms and 2 or 3 button (Reply, Delete, Close).
I think it's a good idea but you are the dev..
ok here is what i would try to do if i knew how 2
1.Have a pic of the contact shown on the left side of the screen next to the number it came from
2. a scrollable box to show the message received
3. a empty text box at the bottom for quickreply
4. button for dismiss/delete(When clicked would ask if you wish to delete)
5.Button from full reply(in case you want to add pics or clipart)
have it time out after 10 or so sec of screen not being touched
see drawing for a very ruff image of what i'm picturing(keep in mind i'm no graphic artist and did this in about 2min at work using MS paint)
Something like this...?

Made it with 3 button...
Grodimn :
No text box.... for send mesend message... because where is your keyboard....?????
I Think only for read message and if you click to reply your "normal sms writer are open "
Sorry for my english....
Maybe a combination of Osevens and Grondinms ideas? As in you tap a button to go to the reply screen.
Unfortunately, transperency is difficult to achieve without serious processor usage (that, and I don't know how!)
So, I could do something like that, but it draws a backgound image (customisable, of course) and then has the message icon infront with text. Then, have two or three buttons (reply, delete, mark as read etc) and an auto close function. If the reply is pressed, a screen like Grondinms pops up (although bare in mind there would have to be space for the SIP)
You can disable the SMS notifications under Start->settings->Sounds and Notifiactions, but I could maybe do a config app for that...

Neither. I tried it yesterday and although it's a great app it's just too slow, which is why I suggested what I did as it takes one of the things from it that I liked but won't slow the system as much.

While I was checking out of the grocery store tonight, I realized I had left my "preferred savings" card in my car's glove compartment as usual. Naturally, my train of thought derailed into Windows Mobile development and how I could make my life easier. The answer was simple: why can't I save all my card bar codes on my Windows Mobile Device and have the cashier scan the image from my cell phone? It would save wallet space and be really cool to boot!
So obviously, I came home and whipped up a program to do just that. Any cards that you scan with a bar code reader can now easily be imported and stored on your phone!
Click here to read more about the Bar Code Manager and the Bar Code API.
does this work,
I thought due the the polarised nature of LCD screens they would be unreadable by most barcode readers!
I hope so! I'm going to check tomorrow when I head into the office. We have a couple bar code readers laying around.
Good idea! Unfortunately, most bar code readers won't read backlit displays
Glad you boys mentioned this!

Do you think you can provide a slightly better tutorial on how to set up your cards. I can't get any of mine to work, and not all grocery store cards are 12 digits. Any way you can add support for those?
Great program, I've been using it for a long time now and I don't know if there's any development on this, but it would be great for it to support 2D codes too. Thanks

Hi,
My first android device was a nook color and purchased on day one. This was the forum that got me all started to develop on the android platform. Since then I have worked on a location base app that make full use of Google map to find locations nearby. It has been fully tested with the Nook color using CynogenMod 7. It probably works with other flavors but I haven't test it yet. Please comment if it works/doesn't work in other Nook color Mods.
BTW it is FREE of course.
Here is the link to the app posting:

Anyway, thanks for app, keep it going. I'll give it a try later.
Hi Votinh,
please do give it a try and any input you might have will be appreciated.
Thanks,

I tried to use it over the thanks giving weekend driving between LA and San Diego. Saved some time to look for diapers in a nearby Target store
BTW though your description says "* Featuring "Peek ahead" at other destinations." I could not find it. I could pan the map, but did not see any stores beyond certain point. Is it limited by distance? Say
it would be nice if I can look ahead for destinations e.g. I'm in between San Diego and Carlsbad on I5 and I want to find stores in Carlsbad, well specifically Dunkin Donuts. Having directions to that place from my location would be nice too.
dumble_bee,
If you know where you are heading, you can pan the map to the location, touch the map and hold(2 seconds). It will center where you touched and will display what is near by based on the new location. You can also increase the viewing radius setting in preference to see further out, but you probably already know that.
Hope this helps.

OK, I tried that, but then how do I go back? After a while it goes back to the old place. I have to then "touch and hold" again and again. Bit annoying.
This has potential, but why no support for landscape? I'd love to see that!

dumble bee,
When you pan the map or center on a different location, it will recenter after 60 seconds when you no longer interact with it. But if you like to go back to your former location, you can just Tap Tap(tap the screen two time quickly), it should put you back right away.
Hope this help,

Thanks Mate! I understand. Just have to finger the thing from keep moving.
A food for thought, maybe something you can provide as a feature and name it after me
it'd be nice to remember my choices of press-&-hold, bring those up and let me select one, I usually move and look ahead at limited area's, mostly starbucks at a location that I'll be meeting my clients.

Will put this on our todo list. Thanks for trying this out.
Android Market won't let me install this, says it's incompatible with Bn NookColor; is there some tweak I need to do to get around that?
