I doubt you can pay with gift cards though.

$219.54 with California Tax.

Got mine! Can't wait to play around with it. Paid $213.xx for FL delivery. Can't complain though.

You can get it to ship overseas if you use a guest ebay account and a mail forwarder

Ha, I'm visiting San Francisco and was thinking I'd pick up an NC. But with this deal it'd still be cheaper to have one shipped to WA state for subsequent pickup. I'm leaving too soon to have it sent here.

Came to post this, great deal, good job. Got mine.

Thanks for posting this, I've been thinking about getting on for a while now, this sealed the deal. Great community here!

You may be able to bring it back to the store and have them return and repurchase right away and pay with gift cards.

Just ordered mine! XDA is the best!

I picked one up too, figured for $200 bucks + tax I can justify one for playing around with.
What size and class SD card should I buy for ROM use?

Just bought one myself. Great deal. I went into the B&N store and the "Nook guy" wasn't able to honor the ebay deal but said he had heard about it this morning. So I turned around, went home and bought it online. $50 and I could have had it now. But I'm learning patience....
I was on the fence about buying the GTablet since it's hardware specs are better, but once I saw the Nook's screen it was a no-brainer. Plus the price.
Now to look through the root guide...if I can find it.

I went to a Best Buy in SF to try one out but the battery was dead and refused to charge. And the only B&N stores here are outside of the City. So I still have yet to play with the hardware. Leaving the USA on Wednesday.

Many have shared their good experience with Transcend 8GB Class 6 cards, I am using one myself. Froyo roms don't really play well with 16GB cards for now. If you search this section of XDA, there's a thread regarding other users' experience with different SD brands.
On a side note, if you are living overseas you can engage in a freight forward company to ship it to you. From where I am, I can share two links:
http://www.vpostasia.com - Ships from Portland (tax-free!) to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and India. Charges are reasonable, plus if you have credit cards issued from certain partner banks, you get a discount up to 40%. Delivery is tracked.
http://www.comgateway.com - Ships from Portland too, and to various countries outside the US. Charges are higher, but that's because they use DHL.
*In no way am I affiliated with these companies. Just sharing on methods I use to obtain stuff from other countries, aside from the occasional returning friend.

Let me say this. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. You won't be disappointed. However, the stock software leaves something to be desired. Although, I say that only because I know the developers have been able to push this thing way beyond stock.

Thank you for the information! I'm in the US, so I'll probably stick with someone like Amazon ($18.99 USD for Transcend 8 GB microSDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS8GUSDHC6E).

Crap, great offer, just in time to receive the one I ordered last week at full price...
Murphy says it clearly, it doesn't matter how hard you shop for an item, you will allways find it cheaper somewhere else, after you bought it...

hey scott; robson here. just came back from a business trip and passed by hong kong for a day. they're selling 512mb cards for 900 hk...roughly 115 usd. if you're in hk or on the way check them out at the ocean terminal right beside the hong kong arts and crafts shop in tsim sha tsui. i got 3 of them! =)
robson
hi scott, can you tell me what the brand of the SD cards you bought are, do they work ok? I've been wanting to get some but been wary of the news that some just don't work with PDAs.
Going to head out to the golden arcade in HK, might be even cheaper there
I've done this a couple times for people (both here and on a motorcycle site I run), and it's not expensive to do. Shipping a card to Europe would be $5 via Priority Mail. Most sites will let you ship the product to an alternate address, though some may insist on calling you or other confirmation.
I also offer to do this for anyone, and others here can tell you I've followed through on this for them.
Carlos is 100% trustworthy and an extremely helpful guy.
eCost.com has a deal on a Kingston 512 Mb SD card for US$149 plus a US$15 mail-in rebate. Go to the Bargain Countdown section: http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/countdown/default.asp

Buying in Europe

I'm looking to buy a Nook Color as a cheap CM tablet to experiment with app development/pdf reader for school, but getting a hold of one in Europe seems pretty difficult.
My only option so far seems to buy one on ebay and pay ~50% in import "penalties" etc.
At $300 it isn't in my price range any more, so do any of you have any good advice on the subject?
I'm in Denmark.
Try these guys -

be quick and you could get it for less than US$200 delivered -

I don't know if it available in europe yet but I would look at the Fire.
I have the same problem, living in Italy. Import duties on the last shipment were more than the cost of the items shipped from the US and shipping was almost as much. Fortunately I had to fly back for a wedding and brought a nook color back, with a lot of other things that can't be purchased here. Might as well get as much as I can for the price of the ticket.
For more urgent things I use Amazon.UK or Amazon.DE. Good exchange rate with the pound right now and buying from Germany is much cheaper than Italy anyday.
I ended up buying it on ebay.de for 249€ with free shipping (within the EU, so no taxes). Now I just need to unload my PS3 to pay for it
I bought one from US Eby and asked the seller to write down the value. Still had to pay import duties, but much less. Still a great price!
Be aware:
If you plan on keeping the B&N Nook funcitonality, it won't work so well in Europe since purchases need to be made in the US borders and with a US account.
If you plan on just flashing CM7 to the emmc, you'll be fine.

Nexus 7 8 GB version now?

Trying to find any news on the 8 gig Nexus 7 pricing. Staples still has it listed as 199. Anyone know or have confirmation if the price has dropped?
I believe that it's been discontinued, but we should be able to find remaining stock -- heavily marked down -- in stores and online. The 8gb version does not appear on Play.Google.com or on Walmart.com. I would think that the 8gb versions, while they last, should be marked about $150.00, but...

It is/was. Staples near me still has some in stock but they are 199.99
I sold my 8GB yesterday for $175. Barely ahead of today's announcements. I paid $150 with magnetic case for it on Craig's List. Putting it aside for the Nexus 10. N7 was too small for my eyesight to read comfortably. So I guess my suggestion would be to also check out alternate sources as I did.
It originally wasn't supposed to be sold in stores because going the retail route on the 8gb would end up costing them money since the unit was sold so cheap. The 8gb started showing up when the 16gb models couldn't stay stocked, which was a last ditch effort from Google/Asus to keep the supply flowing.
So there ARE 8gb models in the wild and ARE discontinued. I would think that Staples and a select other few would have them discounted. Walmart only had 16gb when I went there last. Craigslist and other 2nd hand sites are likely to be experiencing a rush of 8gb and 16gb models because they are trading for the 32gb.
8GB should be 150$
I'm sad that the 8GB model has been discontinued.. I just bought it the first of this month back when none of this news wasn't around..
I don't wanna go through the process of selling this and getting the 16gb.
:'(

Pretty much an empty channel
Every place I checked was sold out of the 8GB units over a month ago, and it was even difficult to track down unopened 16GB models. Everyone in the distribution chain knew about the product shuffling.
The ones you are likely to find now are customer returns, and there will be few that fall within the common 14 or 30 day return window.
Have the screen separation issues been completely resolved? I have a launch 8gb that I want to get replaced. I'm not trying to get a 16gb out of this and I'm hoping if I go through the process now, they won't give me hassle, accusing me of trying to upgrade.
just actually posted my Nex 7 8gb on Craigslist yesterday. we don't use it since we have the ipad.
listing at $150 but taking $125 if i get it. Hate losing $75 so quickly, but that's tech. look on craigslist.
I doubt they'll sell it cheaper for now. Probably keep it for 199 until supplies settle down and when they only have a few, then probably sell them off on clearance.
People are still idiots with this stuff. If they advertise it for 199 people will come in and buy the 8gb probably without looking. Kinda dishonest but companies always do this crap.

I got an 8GB a while back. I don't really need much more storage than that. The music goes on the phone and I hardly keep big games on it.
As a staples employee I can tell you we have stopped selling the 8Gb model. A week before the price drop it went inactive for us.

The New Zealand Nexus 4 Thread

Updated 15/7/2013
This thread is a place for New Zealand Nexus 4 owners, or wanna-be owners to discuss/report/speculate on, or just chat about our phones.
I've compiled a list of options showing where/how we can purchase the Nexus 4 in New Zealand...
Expert Infotech (Updated 15/7/2013)
16GB Black Nexus 4 $548.06 NZD
http://einfo.co.nz/shop/lg-nexus-e960-16gb-black-special-price-p-27320.html
2degrees Online Shop (Updated 22/7/2013)
16GB Black Nexus 4 $499 NZD
https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/sh...t__sorig=/SelectCat.do?catId=21&productId=290
Warehouse Stationary (Updated 15/7/2013)
16GB Black Nexus 4 $699 NZD
http://www.w[email protected]WSL-B2C
MobiCity NZ (Updated 15/7/2013)
16GB Black Nexus 4 $678.86NZD
http://www.mobicity.co.nz/lg-nexus-4-16gb.html
Here is the US GooglePlay Option...
Nexus 4 from Google Play USA (Updated 30/1/2013) This option involves using:
A VPN (recommend Tunnelbear), http://www.tunnelbear.com/
A parcel forwarding service in the US - NZ Post have YouShop http://www.nzpost.co.nz/products-services/online-shopping/youshop (It's worth noting that some members here have had a very mediocre experience with YouShop lately - One has even had his phone stolen after arriving in the YouShop warehouse! This is not indicative of everybody's dealings with them, but I would recommend caution with this option. There are plenty of other companies which may give you a better end result).
Setting up your Google Wallet with the YouShop address in the US (or whatever the address is of your Parcel Forwarding company)
I have read that some people have set up entirely new Google Accounts, so that may also help...
Finally you'll need a whole lot of luck - this seems to have worked for a few people, but not others.
16GB Black Nexus 4 (Ships in 1-2 weeks) $349 USD Shipping costs in the US $15 USD Shipping to NZ via Youshop $15 USD GST/DUTY $87 USD Total Cost $465 USD or $567 NZD
8GB Black Nexus 4 (Ships in 1-2 weeks) $299 USD Shipping costs in the US $15 USD Shipping to NZ via Youshop $15 USD GST/DUTY $0 Total Cost $329 USD or $401 NZD
The US Google Play Store is by far and away the cheapest option available, so if you can do this option, I would recommend you give it a go.
Here are some links to the cases and screen protectors I have on my Nexus 4...
Cases:
SF Matte Black - Rearth Ringke SLIM for LG Google Nexus 4 Soft Feeling Premium Hard Case - ECO Package [Revised Version] $9.99 USD Standard Shipping (averages 10-16 business days) $12.00 USD Total Cost $20.99 USD or $26 NZD (I have a white and a black one of these - seem pretty good so far. Light and slim. There's a minor fitment issue with the original batch of these, but the manufacturers have since revised it and they are replacing the defective ones for free)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A81H176/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A8YCUEQIOX5AP
Screen Protectors:
Google Nexus 4 Screen Protector Steinheil Dual $13.99 USD Shipping $5.04 USD Total $19.03 or $23 NZD (I have used SPG for all my phones screen protectors and they have been great. This one for the Nexus 4 has a front and back screen protector)

Good to know I am not the only one suffering. So far it seems you have already reached into most of the options, I also thought about YouPost but the amount of work required not to mention the added costs, I don't think its worth it. I am just hoping that stocks arrive at the parallel imported sites and the price isn't too hefty. I wish us kiwis weren't discriminated by Google, they have a lot of potential customers here in NZ.
Im also waiting impatiently. I guess we just have to wait, New zealand is such a tiny market compared to other countries. Im keeping an eye out for overseas stores that will ship here to get stock

Me too!!! We should hopefully know more about the price from the parallel imported stores in the next week or two. Google is potentilally missing out by not offering us (and other countries) these services (I guess it's us who ultimately miss out though)!. We may not have the biggest market, but we would be loyal! I'd also love to be able to buy my music from the playstore instead of itunes. I already have 4500 songs uploaded to google music in anticipation of having to downgrade storage on my phone from 16GB internal and 64GB external to the 16GB of the nexus 4, but I don't have the new phone to stream it on!

I reckon you would be best to hold out for the nexus 4. If you're willing to wait a little bit longer then it looks like sony might actually be bringing out a flagship model that will compete directly with the iphone 5 and SGS3 while still being very compatible with the custom rom community...that being said, I know I don't want to wait and I'd love to get my hands on a nexus 4 tomorrow!...

So I messaged LG and asked when they expected to be selling the device in NZ and the reply was they had no idea when or if they would be selling it here. That leaves this in the hands of parallel importers which will be random and pricey.
Started looking on eBay in US and Aus but it was all getting to hard but then as luck would have it I saw someone listing one on TradeMe for $735 and I just had to have it so I used the buy now lol I think this might end up being a good price for this device I just can't wait to get my hands on it.

Crazy that Google are allowing this!

We can only hope that anyone buying a SIM free N5 knows what the RRP is from Google (it's in stock on the Play store anyway) and won't be drawn in by this ridiculous pricing that's floating around on O2 and eBay!
Im on their 'Refresh' plan was thinking of upgrading even though i only just got my HTC One in August.
Then i saw this!
£32 on 3G.
£12 for the tariff
£20 for the phone
32x24 = 768 plus one of fee of 49.99
£818 over 2 years
It's ridiculous. I was tempted to get a Nexus 5 from Carphone Warehouse until I found out that they only have 16GB edition. O2 have exclusivity on the 32GB and this allows them to get away with jacking up the price waaay up. Bad O2, very bad.

With a nearly new HTC One, provided you haven't damaged it you should be able to sell it for enough to get a N5 SIM free anyway.
I don't see how o2 can market this as an exclusive when Google is selling it too.. plus the price difference.
Rip-off, plus you end up with a phone hobbled to O2

I read that O2 have exclusivity for 32GB GB on the UK high street, ie not online.
So quite possible it will be available via amazon.co.uk. I'm gonna wait and see and if so buy via amazon as I think I then will have better customer service should I need to return it if its faulty. I know you can return to google but I feel happier dealing with amazon when a physical item is being posted to me.
are they giving away any tv this year?

With a nearly new HTC One, provided you haven't damaged it you should be able to sell it for enough to get a N5 SIM free anyway.

They're just shooting themselves in the foot really. People will just go to Google, type in Nexus 5, see it's only £300 elsewhere and make their purchase there.

Don't count on it...
I checked ebay last night and there are BIN listings for > £400 for the 16Gb that have sold Nexus 5's in the UK.
The play store has all models in stock, shipped within a week!!!
I'm tempted to purchase 10 of each from Google and chuck them on ebay!

I ordered two with the intent of doing this, but availability is so much better than the N4 with it being sold in almost every UK phone outlet.
I think the eBay sales are coming from countries where it isn't available just yet and the hassle of sending there is never worth it for me.
