[Q] Old Doom apk that used wad files. Anyone get it working? - Dell Streak 7

Hey all, I took the APK I had on my G1 with my doom wad files. (Duke Nukem too)
Tried to play, but it complains about a missing file and tries to download it. But seems the file isnt there anymore from google. Was wondering since on the streak, Duke and Doom would be awesome to play. Anyone get one working?

Update: http://code.google.com/p/prboom4android/
Seems the dev had to change the name, The new file loads without issue and I was able to load the duke nukem wad. However controll, I couldnt get it to "select" so I gotta figure out that part, then it closed out, trying to reload and it force closes. Gonna try resetting, but seems to be hit and miss, but least it may work and so. =D

[Q] Angry Birds beta & CM 6.0.2.1

I noticed that Angry Birds (beta) is not available in my Android Market... heard Froyo is required to see it. I'm running CM 6.0.2.1, but don't see it. Anyone else having the same issue? Well, not really an issue, but just curious. Thanks.

it only requires 2.0 but there are several capable phone models that can't see it in the market. I know aria and captivate definately can't.
you can get the apk from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770800
Thank you, very helpful. Kinda odd that it is phone specific. I wonder what else Aria owners are missing out on...
whenever i install it i see a splash screen and then go back to my home screen..... what about u guys?

psx4droid v2 finally working on Nexus S

I downloaded the update for PSX4droid this morning and played a few rounds of Marvel vs Capcom, although it is a little choppy, this is the first version to run on Gingerbread.
EDIT: changed refresh rate to 30, played smoothly, but forced closed after a while.
snesdroid is also working.
whoooooooo I'm going to have fun tonight

Hi, I can't get it to work on my Nexus S. I just downloaded PSX4Droid, the correct BIOS (SCPH1001) and 2 different versions of FFVII. One is a .bin and the other is .iso. I can't get either to work.
When I click them in the ROM selector the menu slides off to the left (as if it's loading the game) but then it just goes back to the ROM selector page.
Any tips/ideas?
EDIT: PS: The .bin version came as an ECM but I unpacked it correctly.

Having the exact same problem on my Nexus S, and am following that same procedure. I also had another game that was in the ECM format that I converted to .bin format following other instructions, and tried like 7 other BIOS files I found online too. Anyone that got it to work want to shed some light on how they are doing it?
Wanted to add that I am using the free version, maybe only the paid version was updated to work?
EDIT: OK, really wanted it to work haha so went ahead and bought the v2 paid version, and it does actually work, so I guess that the free version has not been updated to work with the nexus s yet.
I can play games for a while, but they all eventually force close. Wack
Where are you guys finding PSX ROMs?
I'm unsure of the rules on this forum so don't want to link. Just google "psx roms" and use the first result. The URL starts with "emu"
force closing
streetfighter ex 2 10 seconds in and it force closes any fix or does the app still need to catch to are phones
Chocobo racing 's 45 fps but it don't smooth . Hix

I bought this a while ago for the n1. While the performance is better here on the ns than on the n1, playing a game eventually results in a force close. A bit frustrating.
I'm holding out for fpsece which is said to be coming out soon, with much better performance than psx4droid.

Yes, a psx emu. Put cd images of psx games you own on internal storage and play them on your phone with virtual controls.
Psx4droid Not working on Nexus S
I tried both the free and pay version of psx4droid and never got a rom to work. I downloaded different roms form different sources and even did some converting to .bin file from 7e files. Still nada. I also did the whole sch1001.bin (or whatever the correct file name is) and loaded that into the emulator but again nothing. All that happens is that when I try to load a rom is goes back to the menu page or just crashes. Any ideas about what I can or should do?
Thanks
I can't run smooth any ps1 rom . Hix . How can i config it ?...

fpse has finally been released (around a day ago). It's on the market for approximately $5. I'm going to give it a go and see how it runs.
Got it working
For those of you still having trouble with psx4droid on the Nexus S:
Download the v2 apk, not the v3 available on zodttd's website.
I found this, who knows how long it'll be there, but it works fine on my phone:
Ok seems it won't let me post a link, but just google "psx4droid v2 v1.1.2.apk" or a variation of it and that should do it.
Just tried it with Castlevania SOTN and it ran slow but at least it worked, I'm sure messing around with the settings could speed it up a bit, I'll research it when I get a minute. Tried FF Tactics and it booted up fine, didn't try gameplay yet.

PSXOID On Gtab?

Anyone get this to work?
I got SNESoid, NESoid and N64oid to work, but PSXoid can't find any ROMS. I'm not sure if they need to be on SDCARD2 which I cant get to be visibile on my PC to put the games on it...
Worked fine for me. Just installed the apk, pointed the emu to the psx bios and loaded up an iso. If you are looking for the app on the market, look elsewhere. Google took it off the market a few days ago. But a quick search of the interweb should yield the apk.
I've got it installed fine, I loaded the BIOS but it doesn't recognize any of the game .zip files. Are yours .zip?

Try unzipping the images and see if it recognizes the raw .bin/.iso/.whatever
I'm not sure if PSXoid can play zipped images like the other *oid emulators.
I put on the .zip, didnt work
So I extracted it and got a .7z file, didnt work.
Extracted that and got a .ecm file and a .cue, put both those on, didnt work.
Im starting to wonder if maybe my PSXoid APK was bad or something. It worked finr awhile back with .zips when I used it on my phone

What games did you get to work? I tried FF7, got it to load a .iso after i converted it but the game I got just sits at a black screen. What does your .iso look like? It is a .zip converted to a iso or what?
Ive got FF7 and Crash Bandicoot 2 both working. Use .iso and you should have no problems.
Can someone post the apk, I can't seem to find it.
I've been using FPse, imo its much better. So far the only problem I've had is that you can only play in portrait mode.

FPse? I used it just today and audio is terrible playing FF7. Could you post the link to which FPse you found? Maybe I got a crummy version.
I just upgraded my PSX4Droid to 1.7 (not sure whats newest) and it now loads the .isos I have but locks up after the initial logo screen...

No such thing. You mean PSX4Droid, or FPse?
I prefer PSX4Droid, since it plays ANY file version, including compressed eBoot files. A LOT less space taken up by games.

I hope you have already got it running, but I think i ran into that problem before. I cant remember if it was snesoid or psx4droid, but I did have to use un-ecm on one of them as the emulator was not compatable with the ecm. Like I said im not sure which one it was. You could also try finding your game in a different file type. Also different versions of the emulator wored differently. I think 1.7 was one of the better older ones though. That and 1.5. One might play one game good while another version played a different game better. I dont know about un-ecm for windows, i bought un-ecm on the market, also i do believe that there should be a .bin file with the .ecm for it to work. Un-ecm should yield a. bin file. That is what you wqnt to point the emulator at. Its been a while, but I believe that this is accurate. I hope you get it working.

This worked finally. But 3.0 would NOT open anything, I had to goto 1.7 for it to work. Anyone get 3.0 to work?
Every time I try to open a ROM in 3.0 It just kicks me back to the rom list. I haven't tried the older versions.

[Q] How can I download DeadSpace?

After reading some positive reviews and seeing a video showing it working on a TouchPad running Android, I decided to buy DeadSpace. I made the purchase through market.android.com, but I can't download it because the Market app says it's not compatible with my device. Does anyone have a recommendation for how to download this game now that I've bought it? Can I change the device ID or something to make the market think my TouchPad is something that is compatible?
Thanks!
try changing your build.prop info to the same as the SG-i9100
In the build.prop change the following lines from:
ro.product.model=Touchpad
ro.product.brand=HP
to
ro.product.model=GT-i9100
ro.product.brand=samsung

By the way I tested and this didn't make this particular game show up. Will look into some more when I get a chance.

Actually this did work for me and I was able to download the game. I did have to clear cache on Market and clear data on Google Services Framework, then reboot, but once I did, it showed up. I had to perform these steps on my Nook Color back in the day as well...
So now that it's installed, the game starts and says it needs to download 300+MB. I tell it to do so and it immediately shows an empty dialog with only an "Exit" button, after which it exits. I can't get past that. Any ideas?
Also, I installed Chainfire3D and the Nvidia plugin. Is that necessary? Is that correct for the TouchPad? Is there any other configuration that I should do for this to work well?
Thanks much for the help!
You could try the other plugins powervr or qualcomm
Glad you were able to get it downloaded. Not sure on the download issue though.
If you have another supported device you could try downloading the files on it and moving them over - or see if someone has posted the sdcard files somewhere.
Have the exact same issue with Dead Space. Asphalt 6 HD works like a charm though. I'm looking for answers but I get the same response.... wash, rinse, repeat (wipe, clear cache, repeat thrice...)
Haven't tried doing the 3-peat yet. If anyone else has and has achieved success after having the same issue with this game, let us know!

Success! Took a while though.....
So I updated my build.prop to the Pyramid device... (sorry, no link where I found that, but GT-i9100 should do fine too). Then I side loaded the main apk like suggested in previous threads. Then I copied the root folder from my Evo where I already had it installed to my PC and transferred the folder to my TP like it was already fully installed.
From there it still said my device wasn't supported, so I installed the powervr plugin for chainfire3d, used in-app settings through chainfire.
Here's where it got weird: I kept getting the same error over and over of my device not being supported. Then my wifi connected and when I ran the game, it immediately searched for an update. Apparently it found one! Suddenly I'm up and running, smooth as silk.
Now gonna try Real Racing 2!

Anyone know a solution for this? I'm getting the same issue. I'm running Jensen 2.8 lite with the buildprop changes and also installed chainfire3d with all the pluggins. No go
Okay, I used my Nook Color to download the data, transferred that back to the TouchPad, and launched it successfully. When it starts rendering 3D, though, it's all white with no textures. What Chainfire3D settings are folks using on the TouchPad that work?
I have read somewhere to use the following option for chainfire 3D as this is the GPU-manufacturer:
qualcomm
it may be worth a try.

Yeah, I've tried all three plugins with the various options enabled and disabled. No go. Has anyone gotten this going with A3.5? Between this and the lockups in Currents and other Webkit apps, I'm strongly considering going back to the previous alpha.
Okay, I finally got this working. I moved back to A2.1 which didn't actually fix anything (though it does seem to have resolved the lockups in Webkit-based apps like Google Reader and Currents, though they're not as smooth when they're working), but then I purchased the full version of Chainfire 3D and launched Dead Space using per-app settings. Suddenly it worked perfectly! I don't know why that would make a difference...perhaps I just didn't know how to use the free version. Either way, $4 is a small price to pay for the added flexibility of the full version of Chainfire 3D, and of course now I have a working, silky smooth Dead Space! Woohoo!
UPDATE: Okay, I know the magic incantation now. This works under A3.5 (and therefore presumably XRON) just fine if you use the PowerVR plugin in ChainFire 3D. I didn't have to reduce texture quality or anything else, just set the plug-in to PowerVR. I hope this helps others get this really nice looking game going on their TouchPads!

[Q] General question

Recently had an old Sony Ericsson P910i and decided to get a Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus as it was still quite cheap but fairly new.
I want to know about rooting, is it worth it? and what is the point?
Secondly, I managed to get some games to work, I have installed FM2013, but appear to have trouble with others such as Plants vs Zombies, which I have a fully d/l'd game, I have installed the .apk (Which was successful) and when prompted to download the data pack, I have done so, only for when I try to open the application it freezes and has trouble, any ideas people?
Would be greatful for any help

even the current version (1.3.17) will work smoothly, the only thing you have to find the correct apk. And you'll be able to run many more games if the phone is rooted.
