[Q] Help. Android market wants me to rebuy applications i already bought on my phone - Nook Color General

I already own an android phone and bought a bunch of applications. I just rooted and installed the market on my nook using the same email address that is on my phone. For some reason the market on my nook wont let me download my paid apps without buying them again. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I tried redoing it and I have the same problem. Does this happen to anyone else? Does everyone else have access to their paid apps without having to pay for them again?

I didn't have to rebuy my apps. But market has been updated since I installed them. Maybe a newer version of market changed something.

It really doesn't make any sense. Its definitely the same account. It has my credit card information filled out already. I even tried buying an app i bought previously, just to see if that would jog it. It didn't work. It charged me and i had to refund it. I really don't know what else to try.

Nope, all of mine show up as "Purchased". Every time this question comes up it's always usage of the same account, but you say that's already been checked..
Good luck.

Thanks. It has to be the same acount or else all of my redit card information wouldn't bebon there. All of my android market reciepts go to this accout also.

Try visiting this page https://market.android.com/account and see a list of your purchased apps.
Standalone web site should be more reliable, than an app, hacked in a stock firmware, which kinda doesn't support google apps.

Now I'm more worried. The site you linked to doesn't have any record of my purchases either. My google checkout account under the same name, however, does have records of all of my purchases. Have any idea what i should do now?

did you paid the app with credit card or by carrier billing? Maybe it change something?

I always pay with credit card.

Does google have some form of actual support other than the forum?

I have nookie froyo on her now. Same exact problem. This is bull**** and definitely on googles end. When are they going to get a customer support line? I've never seen another company that charges actually money like google does in the market without having a customer support line. I'm sure whatever is causing this will cause problems if I ever get another android phone in the future.

Having the same trouble here

What kind of android phone do you have? Is it using a custom rom? I'm thinking that the problem isn't with the nook at all. It's with our other devices not registering with the market properly.

It's as I suspected. I flashed my phone back to stock and I can't redownload any applications either. My whole market account got wiped somehow.

same issue here, totally different tablet BTW (samsung galaxy tab). Same thing - I wiped and flashed a ROM (ironically, same ROM!) and afterwards all my paid apps are being asked to repurchase when I hit install. Similarly in the web market it says I don't own any apps....
I am able ot restore my apps via titanium and hilariously all licence checks for programs that implement them e.g. titanium, worms etc. continue to work thank god but Goog better fix this sh-t real quick. I have >50 paid apps so this is really really bugging me out (plus now I'm afraid to do any more flashing/tweaking)

Do you have the backup, OP?
If so, just run it instead of redownload from Play

Sure you used the same google account?
Sent from my NookColor using xda premium

I got a new g1 today and some of the apps i bought before i cant download now. I get a " unsuccessful download " when i try to install hello im, ringo, snap photo pro, and a few others. Anybody know whats goin on or have a solution?
Google blocks non-T-mobile IP addresses from downloading premium apps so just make sure you're connected to 3G/Edge and it should download.

Just where did you get this bit of information? I have update several times my paid protected apps (such as SanpPhoto Pro) over my wifi. Without a hitch. I believe a lot of people are just jumping to ridiculous conclusions, like Google is blocking paid apps to root users, or updates are blocked to root users, or you can't download over wifi, etc. I believe most of these issues are due to the heavy load being placed on the Market Servers during and after the large update that allowed for paid apps. Also something to think about is the fact that the two users in this thread with issues have a similar situation...
The OP bought these apps and then got a replacement phone, perhaps there is something that is keeping it from working on a second device (would make sense, all the paid cell phone apps I used in the past were tied to IMEI numbers).
The last person to post an issue stated they bought the app, then wiped and "rooted" their phone. However, they did not state if they were getting the "Download Unsuccessful" message, so it is not entirely clear if the issue is the same. This could be a similar situation, or it could be indicative of another method of identifying the original installation phone.
I think they may be very closely tied together because there are other things stored on the phone when an app is purchased. There is a zip file in the /data/app directory (which may need to be present for updates to take place, not sure) there is the app in /data/app-private (obviously), but there is also information stored in the /data/dalvik-cache (which may hold the key to these issues - just a guess), and there may be something else I am overlooking.
It is entirely possible that there is data stored on the phone when an app is purchased to help identify the hardware to the market place. I know purchases are supposed to be tied to your Google account, but do not know if the TOS of the Market allow for the use of purchased apps on more than one device. If they do not, there is probably some kind of protection involved.
Just some things to toss about in your heads, may not be anything to what I am saying... But... I could be onto something. Seeing how I am a JFRC33 "root" user, who downloads and update paid apps via my home wifi connection, without any issues. Yeah the first few days or week that paid apps went live there were some issues downloading the updates, but those were felt across the board, and do not exist anymore. Meaning they must have been general issues with the Market, not certain phones/software.

Workaround for paid apps?

Hello,
I live in Poland and we still can't buy paid android apps, which really p*sses me off. Is there an alternative way to buy from the market? I don't want to use pirated software.
Pretty sure if you email the Dec of app you want they will work something out with you. Also try market enabler

Root phone, install Market Enabler which will allow your phone to pretend that it is in a different market (ie one with paid apps available). Works great. I am in Canada, which does not have paid apps yet, and use it to buy apps. This was the main reason I rooted my phone.
I live in Norway and we don't have access to paid apps yet.
I did install Market Enabler, and got access, but when I'm buying, after I've input credicard information, nothing happens. The phone tries to connect and eventually I get an errormessage that a connection could not be etablished (or something in that effect)
I chose Market Enabler 3 (beta) as I'm using a Hero ROM. (Old version does not work), and I choose o2 (de) as provider.
Any tips?
tried using Slideme, it is an alternative market that works outside of the android market.
Thanks for the replies! I rooted my phone finally (using flashrec) and by the way updated to some hero ROM (myhero-1.1.1 to be exact) and used Market Enabler. Works really well so far, I haven't had time to try to actually purchase anything yet, but I can see paid apps now.
I love the HTC Sense look and feel, but I there are some bugs that weren't present in the vanilla magic (skippy music, worse jabber integration, etc).
It's amazing how easy it is to root and flash your phone these days, I remember last time I was thinking about it the howto scared the hell out of me. And I'm a developer (just a lazy one).
Just purchased my frist app on Android Market
There was one issue, maybe this will help someone: When I entered my credit card details on my phone it didn't work - there was some kind of server error. I had to go to google checkout using browser on my computer, enter my cc details and then I was able to buy apps off android market.

Try setting up your Google checkout account using a PC based browser. Once you do that you should only be shown the price and have to confirm to buy.
That worked for me.

Selective Google Maps update

I got my Nexus one in March. Since then i think i made 3 Google Maps updates and all of them through side loading. Why? Because Google Maps never appeared on the market since day 1 i got the device.
I factory reseted about 10 times and i installed froyo on it and it still doesn't show Google Maps in the market. Yesterday, when Google updated Google Maps, i thought i should insert my Dutch sim card and see if there's any change.
Guess what? It was the first damn app in the top apps tab!!! I updated, inserted my original sim and everything works. Of course the app doesn't show anymore with the original sim.
Apparently, Google only releases Maps to the ones that have access to paid apps.
Can somebody explain why?
I'm so pissed off because of this and i'm thinking of leaving the platform because i'm tired of dealing with discrimination (not having access to paid apps makes me switch even more).
As an android enthusiast i want the newest software so you can understand my frustration of not having access to it right away.
So i guess everybody here has access to paid apps?

That's true. I'll probably root when froyo gets official. I haven't done this before so its gonna be a bit challenging.

[Q] Can't install World Of Goo

Hey everyone,
I tried to buy World Of Goo on the market today, but have been struggling with it! I manage to successfully buy it, but when downloading I get told that I have "insufficient space". The way I understand it, this is likely due to the 30mb limit imposed by the Galaxy S? This may be completely wrong, but after a brief search that appears to be my problem. I've tried the following:
1) Wiping cache (no change)
2) Wiping Dalvik-cache (no change)
3) Rolling back to Market 2.3.6 (didn't even give me an error, just didn't download)
4) A script which created a larger virtual cache (script ran into an error and didn't run)
5) Any combination of the above you can think of
Does anyone have any ideas on what I could try next? The demo installed and ran beautifully, I was really excited to play the full version!
World of Goo and 30MB limit on Market
Hi,
Same problem here... I do remember that AirAttack HD had the same problem - it was sold in two parts but afterwards Dev did something so that the package would be down-loadable on SGS via Android Market. At this point I have only found demo apk and it installs correctly (outside Market), but I would like to purchase full version and RUN IT.
Demo works fast and flawlessly.
I have a strange idea - buy a full version on web Andorid Market, find a full game apk and then connect it to Market via "Market Doctor" in Titanium Backup...
Just tried to buy it on the web-based market, but it says it's incompatible. Besides, that's a bit too close to piracy
Answer...
Well I did change my JVS to CyanogenMOD 7.1 and it works... I was able to buy World of Goo in the Market, it works...

Yes, CM7 doesn't have that issue. There are also successful ways of creating a temporary virtual cache big enough to handle the size. And like someone else said, if you buy the app, download a pirated older version, use Titanium Backup if you need to link it to the market, and then update it to the proper version in the market. It may seem like piracy, but if you're paying for the app this will work.
I had this problem but have now installed the game. I was already on Simplicity ROM and had the Semaphore kernel installed, this has an add on that allows virtual 50Mb cache. This didn't help in the Market though.
I had to go to their own website and buy it with Paypal, then getting emailed a link for download. Great game!
Same Here
I'm so pissed! I should have known better than to order a game this big off the Android Market. I ordered the game using my PC and I thought the game was going to be sent to my phone straight from 2D boys because that's what my order e-mail said.
But then I got an error message from the market telling me the "not enough space" crap. I bought the game! Then insult to injury, I discovered that I could have bought the game directly from 2d Boys off their web site. They are set up now for Android phone orders! I e-mailed them and hope to hear back soon. I told them that they are going to be flooded with complaints because the market is broken.
Same problem here, I have tried everything that is mentioned in the first post without success, however I was playing the demo past week in MIUI without a problem, now I'm on CM 7.1 final. I sent an email to the support address but there is no answer yet. Any other idea?
2DBoys did get back to me and they are aware of the problem with the Android market. I e-mailed the guy my order # and he refunded my money. I asked him how downloading straight from 2Dboys web site worked, but I haven't heard back yet. I'm not going to try until I know it's going to work. Must say they were fast with getting back to me.

Same here - they were really quick in recognizing the issue and even sent me a dl-link as if I had bought it straight from them. Really great support.
Like you I really can't wrap my head around why this only happens with Market downloads the install from 2DBoys was no problem.
I've seen 100 explanations for this issue, and I'm still not sure what is causing it.
Ps. Now the World-of-Goo wants to update in Android Market (even thou I ended up dl-ing it straight from 2DBoys), but if I try it just says I haven't purchased it... Ds.

[Q] problems purchasing Market apps

Recently, my Note has been unable to purchase new Market apps. Once I find the app in the Market, upon clicking the purchase button I usually get an error like "unable to find the app." Sometimes I've gotten another error like "unable to purchase now." Since I'd already purchased a lot of apps for my S2, they all installed on my Note, no problem, since they show as already purchased. So I haven't had much need to purchase new stuff for the Note. Today, though, I installed trials for a few apps. Since I liked them, I went to purchase keys for each, but got this "not found" b.s. after clicking the price button. Three times seemed pretty suspicious, so I moved my sim card back from the Note to the S2 (in case that makes a difference), and I successfully purchased all three keys from the S2 in the normal way.
I should mention that my Note couldn't find one of the keys using Market search, so I had to scan the QR code from AppBrain, which then found it. My S2 didn't require such assistance. I've actually had that problem before, but the QR search always worked around the problem.
I need to use Market Enabler from my location, and as far as I can tell it's configured on my Note exactly the same way as my S2.
In fact, I had the same problem a couple of days ago with TrevE's Logging TestApp, but the next day it was able to purchase from the Note.
Is there anyone else experiencing similar inexplicable purchasing weirdness with their Note? Or any suggestions as to how to get my Note working properly with the Market?
I know that the Android Market itself has been giving some trouble recently during the 10 Billion promotion... So it might be that.
For example, right now, I'm able to purchase Smart Task Switcher Pro key on my S2, while at the same time I'm unable to purchase it from my Note. So it seems to be a Note issue and not a Market issue. And it's only with paid apps.
What's worse, even though I purchased it for my S2, it shows as unpurchased on my Note, so I have no way of getting this app on my Note.
Same here, it's my first android phone where I can't purchase apps even with the help of market enabler...
I can find the apps, but the market says "You can't buy this app in your country".
I tried everything, proxy servers, vpn servers, airplane mode, nothing works.
I'm screwed

My problem's different: I'm able to purchase plenty of apps, and Market Enabler is verified working for me for a long time. I never get the error "You can't buy this app in your country." I get this error message: "The item you were attempting to purchase could not be found."
In your case, you've never verified that you have a correct configuration for Market Enabler. Of course, you first rooted your phone, right? Otherwise, Market Enabler won't work.

Yes of course I'm rooted and I used market enabler for a couple years and across different android phones and it always worked before. Maybe it's the new market...
Just like you I find the app, click on purchase button, and then get this country message even though I'm on a US proxy or vpn, with market enabler set on a US carrier.
We don't have the same error message, but the end result is the same, we can't buy apps.
The first time I had an error it said something like: the country where you registered your phone doesn't allow you to purchase applications.
It looks like if at one time or another the system knows you are not in the right country, then you are on some sort of black list or something like that. Then you can do everything you want, it does not matter because your account is flagged !!!
Just a theory... I hope I'm wrong, because otherwise we are screwed big time.
So, it's only your Note that fails? That is my problem. Up till now, I've gotten around it by purchasing from my S2, then installing the already purchased app on my Note. But with this one app (Smart Task Switcher), it just won't install on the Note. I emailed the developer. But yes, if we can't use the Market from our Notes with Market Enabler, that's depressing. And there won't be any help from places that don't need Market Enabler.
I found a workaround:
Freeze Android Market 1.0 with Titanium so the market doesn't update itself, uninstall market updates, I can now buy apps !!!
With Market Enabler of course...
Oh yeah, I seem to remember that solution from a while back when they updated the Market app. As I recall, I reverted to 1.0, and then did the updates again, and then it worked.
In any case, I don't think you can be 100% sure what worked for you because suddenly yesterday I was able to purchase that app that was being reported as "not found" after I'd click the "$2.49" button. When I finally purchased it, Market now reported some kind of payment irregularity, but then the app downloaded and installed. When I see my bill, I'll know if the payment was processed correctly. I've had this same b.s. before where I find an app, click to buy, and then get a "not found" reported, but it never before stretched on for days.
Even with uninstalling updates I get the "The item you were attempting to purchase could not be found".
I am rooted and use marketenabler.

My latest workaround is to do:
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Market>Uninstall updates
and then immediately complete the purchase. This seems to reenable Market Enabler just long enough to purchase. I can't seem to figure out how to prevent Market from updating, but at least purchases are enabled long enough for me to complete them.

Tried that but then there are no paid apps only free ones then a few minutes later our reverts back to the latest version.
i don't know about buying apps as I get something new every two months or so, but Market 3.4.4 and the earlier version are taking a really long time to load, or it sometimes just hangs. I'm on LA4 but had the same issue when I was on KL7.
Oh and market enabler hasn't been working for quite a while too, on both my Note and NookColor, even when paired with Market 2.XX. Not sure what has happened!

Yeah, this Market Enabler situation is really messing us up. I don't know why what worked for me worked for me, and there's no telling when my workaround will quit working. I wonder why Android phones are so popular in Market-disabled countries. Since the average person doesn't even root their phone, they buy these Android phones with no intention of ever getting the best apps for it.
Here's how i manage to buy paid apps on my Note:
Go to Google Play on PC,sign in,buy the required app,go to market on Note, install the app(the download link will be active n available after payment thru PC).btw,i use VPN to change the IP location on my PC(to USA or Canada)...
