Decent player although its surely another galaxy s video player ripped and feature packed. That said Rockplayer being the other galaxy s rip will likely copy all features found here.
sent from my Nexus S XDA Premium App because I'm worth it

Thanks.
Unfortunately, it doesn't see the video taken by my Nexus S....

It does you have to select the camera folder on SD card and will search for media files in that directory

Thanks. Best player!

Works the same as Rock Player for me. RockPlayer decodes 720p (mkv) fine but theres no audio. Regular .avis have sound
Definitely nice video player though, I'll keep it

As usual, can't play anime mkv videos without doing slow-mo. I think vlc is the only third party app that can compete with the galaxy player.

Can someone help me, I have installed moboplayer on my Nexus S and I am have a few questions.
1. When I connect my Nexus S to my computer what folder/directory should I be putting my video files in?
2. When I start moboplayer on my Nexus S, I am also confused about which folders I should choose. Also, when I start moboplayer I get "there's no SD card, make sure it is usable".
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Highly recommend using dice player for best HD playback becasue it uses hardware acceleration unlike mobo, rockplayer..ect

You were really vague in answering my question though. I am not new to computers but I am new to this. Do I have to modify (root) my Nexus for this to work?
For instance I connect my Nexus S to my laptop and can get the "removable disk (H" option in my computer. Can I make any folder within there and call it "movies"?
OR is there a specific sub folder I need to be in?
Thanks for your help.

Bah, no wonder I couldn't see the files. I needed to disconnect the device from my computer.
lol

hey
i downloaded rock player but when i play the movie using rock player the volume of the movie being played is pretty less... is there any player which is better than the rock player and which has high volume?

MX Video Player is by far the best video player on Android IMO.
It was the only player that could play 720p MKV with subtitles without any kind of lag, problems with subtitles or sound. You can also change between audio-tracks.
It also got a the prettiest interface.

[Q] Need Video Help...(free beer and cookies for helping)

Just bought my wife a fascinate and sold her iphone. She had videos on her iphone she is trying to play on her fascinate however the player doesnt support the format (.m4v) I know I can recode the videos to a avi or mpg format I just dont want to spend that kind of time.
Is there a video player out there anyone can reccommend that plays other formats outside the fascinate's select few?
M4V is acutally already encoded in MP4, the only difference is the extension. Have you tried playing these files on the fascinate? what specifically are these. videos captured by the phone? Downloads from itunes? i've never had an iphone, but i used itunes to download a video (the free music video fo the week) and put it on my fascinate and it played right away. what is the exact issue you are having? Please be specific.

Here is a link to a player that plays just about everything.
http://www.filestube.com/ef8b1189a5cca0f903e9/go.html
Soul Player (Free)
mVideoplayer (free)
using cifsmanager allowed me to use the stock player for anything. I had(ve) many of those file types left over from airvideo.
jatilq is right those will work. I just had to add that I've found doubletwist player to play everything I've thrown at it and if you are really desperate, rockplayer.
I tried everyones suggestions and they still are not playing. To be more specific one of the movies was a digital download from itunes that we recieved with the bluray version of the movie and another was a movie that was purchased through itunes. I guess I will just have to recode them.
files were in .m4v which is a mp4 file type.
Thanks again for everyones help.
Forgive me for being new at this, but aren't there liscensing issues with itunes videos or the digital copies that come with some dvds? I have doubletwist & it works great for importing playlists from itunes but when I try to play any itunes videos it tells me playback is not authorized.

Correct. M4V if downloaded from itunes store is encoded. The easiest way around is download a program that rips the video why you watch it. Ill post a link in a little.

[Q] Which video conversion app do you use for Note?

Hey guys,
Recently got a note but cannot find a decent video conversion app. What is the size I should convert the video files into? any reccomendations for mac/windows?
Cheers!
Don't have any answer for the question but with mx video player, you won't need to convert probably.
Just use Handbrake which converts to MP4 - you can change the settings to get better quality or smaller file. I've been using this program for all of my phones...perfect so far!!
To play on the Note, MX Videoplayer is your friend!
Unless the file size is larger than 3.9Gb I dont convert it anymore, I use Handbreak to convert it to 3.9Gb but for HD movie sources that are 15-20GB I split convert them into 3x 3.9Gb files to preserve the quality and just delete it after viewing.
For info, here is the link : http://handbrake.fr/
Thanks, I know of handbrake and will try it. Will give MX a go too without converting. Thank you all.
If you're quite technical and/or somewhat of a videophile (as I am!) then I'd recommend giving Mediacoder a try too.
Mediacoder lets your configure a lot more options than Handbrake, but it has a terrible GUI so is a lot more difficult to use.

Mxvideo player is the best and if you have big files just use mkvtoolnix (PC app), no reencoding, just split the file in 2 or more mkvs (under 4GB) !

Frustrating media playing issues

Hi all,
I've looked around but I guess we will have to accept the fact that the N7 falls short when it comes to media playing capabilities.
The other day me and a friend were comparing 2 awesome devices, my N7 and his S3.
The S3 handles most formats of video without any issues and even features an amazing PIP feature that lets you see videos on desktop or over other apps without lagging the system.
The N7 on the other hand can hardly play any worthy media formats. I downloaded some HD YouTube devices in mp4 format via tubemate app but couldn't play any of those with hardware and software rendering.
I couldn't even play my 720p movies that the S3 or the galaxy tab handles like a baby.
I'm guessing there might be some way to watch movies otherwise it seems an awful waste of the multi core processor and gpu.
Looking forward to your feedback / comments
Not really sure what's happening on your end, but I can play all files perfectly smooth. Though only up to 720p mkvs so far. I'm using BSPlayer by the way.
I've yet to find a video file I couldn't play, though I also haven't pushed past 720p mkv files. Mostly using MoboPlayer and the VLC Beta. What are you using for a video player?
Yeah, you have to install bsplayer litehttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bsplayer.bspandroid.free

Just got my nexus yesterday (first android device ) and tested a few media players, there are a number that have hardware decoding and can play pretty much anything.
I've settled on using "DicePlayer" as its the only one I found that still supports DTS, it also supports smb natively so no file manager needed.
You need to install "DicePlayer" and "DicePlayer Plugin" if you want DTS then you need to follow the advice in the thread below (simple process)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769799
Having no trouble at all playing 1080p mkv over smb very impressed
OK now on sure there's something wrong at my end. No wonder I was so frustrated. I have tried all of the above players but not able to play high def files. My device is stock, unrooted and otherwise running awesome. YouTube HD works great but if I download the same video, it doesn't play past a few seconds on software rendering. On hardware rendering there's no video.
Do me a favor, download Katy Perry's Wide Awake video using the tubemate android app. Select a high resolution and see if you can play it. Thatwill answer a lot many questions
Agree on DicePlayer, it has always been the best for me on tegra 3 devices.
The video playing capability on the nexus should exceed that of the s3. Thats where the quad-core comes in handy.
If you want the "PIP", or floating video window on the nexus look for Stick It on the play store.
There was a video on youtube that I cant find now. They tried to see how many stick it windows they could get opened before the prime was out of memory and gave up. They got to somewhere around 14 or so seperate windows all playing different videos. good times.

I'm not installing an app I don't want but I did download "Katy Perry's Wide Awake" in 1080p from the KatyPerryVEVO channel, played it over smb from my pc in dice player and it worked fine and was hardware decoded.
Of course you need "DicePlayer Plugin" for HW decoding

Yup. OK installing the tegra 2 plugin and retrying. Will update in a bit
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
OK, installed the tegra 2 plugin and still the same issue. The player stops at exactly the same spot, around a minute or so. Tried with 2 different videos. I'm guessing now that there is something wrong in the app that I'm using to download these videos since its difficult to imagine that such a great device would lack here.
Funny thing is, same videos are playing flawless on my Desire HD
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Sounds like you have an app installed that is causing problems.I know the ultimate rotation app many use to get a tablet ui caused the same effect on my n7.Once I got rid of it I have never had another problem with any video.I use the BS player and it plays about anything I have come across. jmo
I dont have ultimate rotation. I use adw to get landscape home. Tried BSplayer too but let me try again just to be sure
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
I suggest you look at MX Video Player with the ARMv7 codec pack. Both are free and available on the market. Plays everything I've ever thrown at it. Every once in awhile something looks funky and to resolve it I switch it to S/W decode mode.
Anyways, I hope that helps.

Streaming music from external hd to n7 via router?

Hi,
After a little help as per the title I wonder if it's possible to play my music collection which is currently stored on an external hd connected to my home router on my N7 without the need for my laptop to be turned on etc
Using an explorer app on the N7 I can see and access the music how I want as above, but I have to manually select the folders and tracks to then play each time rather than it already been catalogued within the player?
Is there a player or an app that can do this to make my collection available please?

Yeah, sorry I didn't quite make things clear, the music is on a Lan based port via my wifi router, using es explorer I can see and play a track at a time, with the bs player suggested above I can play albums etc, but its library function is awful
I'm thinking this is a common limitation. I can see and play music on a thumbdrive via OTG, but have yet been able to find a way to play more than one song at a time even if I set the player to Random.:crying:

If the external HD is connected up to your computer, you can upload your songs to google play music, which lets you stream your music to anything that has the app installed. Install the uploader on the computer and the app on the PC, very useful and works very well over 3G/HSPA. Linked it below for you.

Thanks, I had a look at that, but I have a crap broadband where I live and it would take months to upload my music collection

Try putting OpenWRT on it if possible, and set up a dlna server (minidlna) with your collections.
You can access them afterwards with your N7 using any dlna app you like (UPnPlay or even xbmc)
