[Q] Standard Keyboard (NumberPad Keyboard) for WP7 (Swype alternative) - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Themes and Apps

Hi Guys!
I´m terribly searching for some keyboard alternatives for WP7, but it seems like there aren´t any alternatives at the moment, right?
I would really appreciate the development of a standard (12 Button) Keyboard like it was implemented in WM 6.1 - 6.5 and is implented in every Android build, on which each button represents 3 or 4 signs. In my personal experience writing goes damn fast (with one hand...for me, it´s even faster than swype) on such a keyboard, even while walking, cycling or driving (yeeeea I know, don´t type and drive... ). I used such a keyboard also with WM 6.5 and Android...(the shown pics are just some (to be honest: not very good) examples to show what I mean)
The keyboard implemented in WP7 is quite okay, but the buttons are really small (at least this depends on how thick your fingers are?! ) and it is impossible for me to type in a comfortable way while I´m walking ...
what do you guys think? are there any solutions/will there be such a layout in near future?

hello,
im looking for the phone keyboard too with T9 , im much much faster on phomne keyboard would be good if anyone can add this on wp7
regards

Same for me... the keyboard in wp7 is not bad, but on wm6.5 with swipe or T9 it was much faster to write a message.
Anyone an idea?

I'm not sure this is an area that will see any change in the short term. Microsoft seem keen to keep this locked down like the iPhone.

*grrr*...that´s really kind of sad...I´m really not comfortable with the native keyboard. But hope dies last

You can't change the keyboard on WP7. Microsoft is not allowing it. I don't believe anybody has found a way to do it either.

Arguably you should add '...yet' to the above statement, although Apple have retained their policy of not allowing alternative keyboards.
A Google search suggests there is no obvious activity around Swype and WP7 and while there are a few things around suggesting that Dasur (SlideIT) were looking to release a WP7 version of their keyboard, there is nothing obvious to support this on their website.
They may have had information from MS that they are not opening up the keyboard? Or maybe it's in development...?

Any news here?

A few niggling issues with the Diamond

Hello all, I work for Orange and hopefully will get preferential rates when its released (hopefully early July)
1)I REALLY hope Orange don't put their home screen on instead of the touchflo3d...that would be a really big mistake
2)BATTERY LIFE! I'm thinking...Anyway of linking clicking Opera app to enabling 3G? Maybe making a custom shortcut containing the reg change for 3g on + opening browser? Or is this me being a little too hopeful/ignorant?
3)Music player: Apparently, to all intents and purposes, not that great. Are there any players 3rd party available that are any good? Music playing is something I like the idea of but I don't deal with album art at all so I'm stuck if I use the default.
4)Instant Messaging;
I know WM supports Windows Live, but does it easily support the 640x480 screen? I've heard some 3rd party apps go a bit funny on it (same in fact with the music player)
Also, what is the status with the xs in the top right these days? I had a SPV M700 and x just minimised. You could get a software mod for the x to close, but I'm going to want to be running IM on a fairly regular occasion, obviously multitasking. Is there a "minimise key" mod? To make more similar to desktop experience?
5)I predominantly text, how am I going to find the touch keyboard? It was SO awkward on my M700, is the keyboard functionality/touch sensetivity much improved?
OK Thankyou all in advance,
qpop

I cant help much but in response to the question above, I find the texting overall is pretty good on the Touch Diamond.
Im a texter to and ive used lots of Windows Mobiles in the past and can safely say that the Phone Keypad and Also Full Qwerty are excellent. The Phone Keypad is what I use the most when texting etc and its brilliant.
I dont often type things incorrectly but the downside is, with all touch screen phones ive used so far, that sometimes it doesnt keep up and i do find that when I press the space button it doesnt register (or I dont push the button exactly so it doesnt register more like) but the whole experience, overall, feels good when texting.
Also you have to be careful when texting and then choosing a word in the T9 system as it will repeat the word if you press the wrong part of the screen or it will insert the word in the middle of another word.
This is something im doing less and less of now as ive got used to the sensitivity of the screen so all good.
Best so far on a purely touchscreen Windows Mobile Device. Nice one HTC!

EZ-Input 2-Like SIP Keyboard

I am looking for an SIP keyboard similar to EZ-Input 2. I really like how the keys are so big an easy to use, almost like the Iphone keyboard. I can't use the one in the developers sub forum, since I just discovered that it was the cause of my hardware keyboard to not function correctly. If anyone has a version of it that works, or another suggestion, let me know. Thanks.
Try using FingerKeyboard 2.1. I use it and it's very good. It has haptic feedback and pops up the keys pressed just like the iPhone Keyboard. Very good from my part.
Thanks. I have used it before, and will be using it again now for the time being. I was wondering though if there were any keyboards with even bigger keys though? This would make typing even easier.

Dialer-looking text input

Hey,
I hope that someone can help me out.
Since the screen is "quite" small... the keyboard in windows mobile is definetly too small, and even fingerkeyb requires some concentration.
Are there any good looking, perfectly working, dialer looking input SIPs?
12 button input with 1 - abc, 2-def, 3-ghi etc. Like on oldschool cellphones (and samsung touch versions)... with T9 textbook.
I guess there are a couple out there, which one is THE best?
saw this thread, with no answer...

Search for the OEM XT9 keyboard. There's a phone keypad mode.
Thanks!
I tried it and it works ok! I like it, think I'm gonna use it instead of fingerkeyb, at least for sms-writing with one hand. There are some issues though, it's not perfect.
Wonder why no-one focuses on creating a better soft keyboard (eg sony ericsson!!!)

used this link!

Can I use the autocomplete on the device keyboard?

Hi folks,
I love original android system. I don't want to install any modified versions. My last G1 is a brick right now.
I know many of the modified version has autocomplete on the device keyboard just like it is on a virtual keyboard. I like the function since I am horrible at spelling.
Anyway, is there a way I can do that by just install some type of applications? Thx! I think it would be just an input method!
Thank you!
Actually, I meant when we type in "acc", there will be "accompany" or "accumulation" these types of options letting us choice to complete.
Which is the "Show Suggestion" function.
Smart Keyboard Pro has this I believe. It's $3 on the market and its dictionary includes our favorite 4-letter words if you catch my drift. Check it out.
htc ime keyboard has this,
It seems like a good idea, but from using it (With HTC IME), it really slows down typing. Slow enough to where you just get rid of it (at least the case is that with myself)

Anyone else love thr stock Froyo keyboard?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone else really liked the new stock IME included in Froyo.
I tried swype, SwiftKeys and the Htc IME, but I just keep coming back to the stock froyo keyboard.
With the new two rows of pop-up keys and the ease of switching languages, I find it to be the easiest to use. Definitely more intelligent than the iPhone keyboard.
Only problem I have when compared to typing on the iPhone is that it will miss keys if I type too fast, but all the ime I've tried do that. It's likely more of a touchscreen issue there.
Just curious if other people were enjoying it as well.
The one problem I have is the fact that it doesn't support the Canadian French keyboard layout. Typing in azerty is just terrible! Lots of bug reports in to Google on that point, but no movement yet.
if swype didn't cut it I really don't know what will, smart keyboard is really good and fast try it if you haven't already.
and to answer your question, I honestly loath it. but you see that's the beauty of android, if you don't like anything just change it lol.
I keep coming back to it also, does exactly what I want it too and is easy to use, used swype on my old windows mobile phone but see no need for it here. the text predicition means I rarely type near the full word.
In portrait mode I use swype, while in landscape mode I use the stock keyboard. Does anyone know any light half-qwerty keyboard for portrait use? I tried HTC_IME but it had that little bug that wouldn't register the word "IF". I wonder if it still exists in the latest version. Also is there an original HTC_IME lying around somewhere? I want something light and not as heavy as the modded one.
Tried Swype once.. not for me.
Been on stock ever since coz it's allright...
I can't get away from the HTC IME keyboard cause it has T9 standard keypad, and I'm just so much faster typing on that.
Tried Swype a while ago. But since FroYo I've been very happy with stock...Especially in landscape.

I like it. I use HTC ime too but I use stock alot. The reason you're more accurate on iPhone is probably because of its genius unseen system whereby it predicts the next letter you're going to type and resizes all of the keys' pressable areas based on the odds they will be selected. The greater the odds the bigger the pressing area. If the stock android KB implemented that it would be perfect. Thick keys is similar but not very good so I'm guessing there might not be a copyright issue. I know android indicated its awareness that the android kb needs a lot of work so maybe gingerbread will bring some enhancements...
