[Q] would updating my zio 1.6 to 2.2 unbrick my zio phone?
I've recently tried rooting my zio but not knowing what I was doing I ended up brickIng my phone. now it'll only go as far as the cricket logo. been looking everywhere to how to solve this problem.
btw this happened before the upgrade release now I feel worse for my mistake.

Take it to a cricket store and they can fix it for you. Probably even update it for you.

You tried rooting and did exactly what to brick it? Sounds to me that you need to fix it your self.

Try the tethered update. If your phones bricked, you got nothing to lose.

Go update your phones now if you are not running Froyo.
Watch the update though, it bricked mine halfway through part 3...so much for fixing it. My last zio had no problem updating, so I guess is pretty random which ones complete or dont.

Use fastboot and flash sprint 2.2 images.

Personally I was a noob on SGS cause I was on HTC too.. If you go on to youtube, theres a guy called 'androidgalaxys' on his videos he shows how to update to 2.3.4 its the official update too and that is very very stable and very fast. The file you download uses odin to flash.. He talks you through it. I hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for your help. Maybe you know what is causing those random reboots and freezes as far as I know people have them on many different firmwares. But if you recommend I'll try it.

My phone died!!!

After rooting my phone and after using it fire about a week something weird happened to my phone, on Sunday the phone restart it itself and when it booted up the phone was stock on the Samsung screen after the metro pcs boot animation. I took out the battery several times but to no avail. It was dead. I finally took it to metro yesterday and they have me a brand new one. I'm more sure if i will root it again though.

Setting phones on fire usually kills them.
Did you try CPR on it? Check if it still has a heart beat.
This is murder!

Quick question

I decided to start using my old revolution as a backup phone. It is basically a brand new refurbished replacement they sent me a while back that I've never used. When I go to update it to gingerbread it says that there isn't an update available. I'm just wondering if Verizon pulled the update when they ended its life and is there any way I can still root it and and install a gingerbread rom on it without first updating to gingerbread? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be on gingerbread to install a gingerbread ROM or you'll brick your phone, it's a complete pain in the ass to fix so I wouldn't try it. There are instructions to manually update to gb in the dev section if you have access to a pc...

Bricked from ics leak .238

Hello,
I Have bricked my Droid bionic while it was on the 238 ICS leak and I was hoping someone may be able to help. Unfortunately, my friend was helping me and try to flash it back to 902. As we all know and as he found out, that bricked the phone pretty badly. Is it toast now or can I save this thing?
Thanks
I once had the same thing happen to my Droid X. I tried to go back to a previous version from a leak and couldn't fix it. Not even the people at the Verizon store I took it to could fix it. They set me up with a warranty replacement because they thought it was caused by a virus or something. I was lucky. Of course now I keep my phone insured, just in case.
Try this. It may help you get back up and running.

Note: ics leaks from version .235 and higher can NEVER go back to GB (.902 or .905)
