i thought it was 1.1gb but am i wrong...does it have 4GB internal storage?
the only thing that i did not like about that Incredible S was the 1.1gb rom
but if it has 4gb inernal storage that would be grate

i found out that it's actually the HTC Droid Incredible 2 for Verizon, as per
infosyncworld.com/reviews/cell-phones/htc-droid-incredible-2-specs-and-photos-appear/11864.html

My incredible s is 1GB rom

how do you find it, do apps have to be installed on internal storage, or can they be installed on sdcard
is there enough space left over to add more apps, or no?, i hear the rom total used space is about 1 to 1.05gb used, so that would leave small amount for other stuff
i tried searching but not answer yet
Cheers

rofl, sorry to wreck your dream, but the 4gb mentioned over there is the micro sdcard ;p
gotta love these websites who dont know **** about anything and just name it w/e they want

App choice: Swapper or Move Cache?

I am now considering which app should I use.
Can anyone give me some advice, I just want to install a better one.

Those 2 apps aren't related to each other.
Swapper deals with virtual memory and RAM. The other has to do with storage space (flash).
Had swapper for a few hours and my later my G1 said my SD card had errors and may need to be formatted. Uninstalled Swapper as it apparently does destroy your sdcard.
Swapper is really hard on your card. Does help speed up your phone but not worth it in the long run.

Moving apps 2 sd without roOting it

I really need away to move apps from my tab to the sd card with out rooting it.

Download an app called a2sd or app2sd by Sam Lu. That should do it But have you really used 2gb already?
Sent from my GT-P1000
I have that app and it won't move all apps to sd. I wanna move all with out rooting.

Um, guys...it's running 2.2, there is no need for a third party app or rooting.
Go to Applications/Manage Applications, pick the app you want to move, click on it, you'll see a big huge tab that says:
Move to SD Card
You should be able to figure the rest out.
It won't move them I have tried. I have a Evo so I'm familiar weith 2.2 froyo.

Which apps won't move. You can only move apps that would be in Data as well as aps that support apps2sd?
Wow, you want APPS2SD on a system with this much space? What on earth are you putting on there that an extra few MB becomes essential to you?

Exactly my first thought.
But still, even rooting isnt giving us a2sd+ atm, so referring to that is pointless. And FroYo a2sd wont give you that much more space. And the apps take longer to load after a reboot.

Sprint and Verizon only have 2GB internal memory.
"Only"
It's more than enough.

oh my. Do/have you owned a HTC phone? 2gb is more than enough. If yoube used it already, then delete apps you dont need and clear your caches.

The amount of available space for application storage is still the same. The additional storage on the 16gb Tabs appears as external memory, exactly like an external SD card. The only difference is that with the 16gb models, you don't have to populate the SD card slot to have external storage.
As far as apps are concerned 2gb is more than sufficient - my HTC Desire had less than 100mb available for apps and that was too small, but we're talking 20 times that here.
FWIW, most storage hungry apps (e.g games) tend to install resources to external memory. For example most Gameloft games are around 20mb on internal memory, with an additional 300mb going external (which woukd be SD card on a Sprint or Verizon Tab).

Dave

[Q] Is it possible to resize emmc for more internal?

Using cm7, I find many issues stem from apps trying to read from SD. is there a way to resize emmc to a smaller size and increase the size of internal storage? or are they on a seperate physical storage?
Thanks
If I understand correctly, what you are asking is it is possible to have CM see the WHOLE 5 GB as internal storage, rather than .998 GB and a mount point at /mnt/emmc?

well i would like to know that.
Agreed. This would make a lot of things work nicer, if not better. The Nook app comes to mind first off. Lots of apps can't t see that mount point at /mnt/emmc.

Could it be that the apps are written to store data to the mount point /sdcard?
There is a app in the developers area to swap /mnt/emmc and /sdcard. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034939
I have not tried it so can not tell you how it works.

Yep, already looked at that...defeats the purpose of the idea...to get access to the FULL capacity...of BOTH the internal and SD card.

Let me get this right, you want to join the capacity of the emmc and the sdcard as one mount point. Like a strip set?
I do not think that it would wise or even possible.

No, no. If you look at the way that CM7 uses the EMMC card on board it "splits" it into storage(the way a phone sees it in android) and a mount point that is like an SD card. The problem with this is that some apps are poorly written and can't see that mount point at /mnt/emmc. So you end up with certain apps not being able to access roughly 4 gigs of onboard storage.
The sdcard is seperate and handled correctly.
What the idea is here is to get the "phone storage" size to be the whole emmc and not just.92Gb(some limitation of android/CM7?). So you would end up when you look at the storage option in CM with Internal storage reading something like 4.9 gig instead of .92 gig and have no mount point at /mnt/emmc. All apps should be able to see the full capacity of the EMMC card and the external SD card this way.
Edit: sorry if I seem to ave threadjacked you electrikjesus. You just asked a VERY good question.
I would be happy even if there was a nice way to mount the emmc as /sdcard and then mount the actual external sd card as /sdcard/external_sd, similar to how my Captivate handles is. This would at least allow both to be access by all applications, and not just those few that will allow you to access parts of the filesystem besides /sdcard. Is there any reason fstab couldn't be modified to this?

I figured that you all would pretty much take it from here You know exactly what I was asking. Currently EMMC is a huge waste of usable space even if I resize it for DualBoot, I still have a good 2gb left over that could be used to increase the internal storage of my Daily CM7. I use the DB for honeycomb tests.

Yep, I understand it perfectly...just never would have thought of actually asking about it
anywho...heres hoping that one of the devs or someone with some knowledge of the subject will chime in.
bump bumpty bump. Did we get lost in the 1.2 flood or what?
Really would like to see this happen as well, as it's kind of silly to have such a low amt of space for Apps and then a bunch of space kind of hidden that some may never even know about.
couldnt agree more - bumping my apps to the sdcard is a pain - Id like to have that unwasted /emmc 5 gig slice for something..
I have been looking everywhere to find an answer to this very question. Would love that extra space for apps and what not.
I use emmc to store all my music. Then point my music app to that partition. PowerAmp sees it just fine and I have the rest of my partitions freed up for more important things. Call me silly but I thought that is what it was for, to store data.

12paq, this is exactly how I want to roll....I want my music on the 5Gb EMMC partition. I have PowerAmp already loaded. What is the best way to transfer my music from my PC to the EMCC of my NC?
EDIT: Nvm....figured it out...easier than I originally thought.

Nope..you are both getting and missing the point. What if I want to store epubs there and my reader app of choice can't see anything but the "internal" storage or SD card. That's roughly 4 gigs of unusable space for me then. It would seem to me that from a compatability standpoint, getting all this to be seen as "internal storage" would be optimal.
Some apps just can't see that mount point, mostly those that were designed with typical phone setups in mind.

I understand what you're saying... maybe we could start a bounty for resizing emmc for more app storage?

[Q] Install ROM on MicroSD instead of internal phone mem.

As The Title Suggests, Is There Any Way To Install A ROM Onto A 16GB MicrSDHC (class 10) Instead Of The Phones Internal Memory?
I 'Googled" It For Several Hours, Unfortunately Did Not Find An Answer.
Let Me Explain Further As To What I'm Really Trying To Accomplish. I Want To Flash A(ny) ROM Onto The MicroSD Card So I Will Have The Entire Internal Memory Free On My G1. And Then (if at all possible) Somehow Use The Internal Storage As Extended RAM.
Even If This Seems "Close To Impossible", Could Someone With Enough Knowledge (a dev?) Explain How Something Like This "Could" Be Accomplished??
Thanks For Your Time! Can't Wait To Read What People Have To Say About This..
Ideas & Possible Solutions Are Better Than Just Saying 'It Can't Be Done..etc'
I doubt this is even possible. Sorry.

Hey guys, after getting my s7 i got myself a Galaxy tab E for work, edit word docs, read e-mails, excel and media... the issue is, it only has 8gb of internal storage. I have been away from rooting and moding for a year now and i see this is not a popular device, still i would like to make make my 32gb sd card part of the internal storage. I will root the tab, but i need a way to have more internal storage as i have many apps and this sd card won't leave the device, can anybody help please?

Isn't that supposed to expand virtual memory? Because all i want is to make the sd card part of the internal storage.
