Swype has expired?? - Captivate Themes and Apps

I've been using the cognition build and today I can't use swype anymore because it says the trial period has ended.
Uhh wtf, how would I go about to getting my swype back?

swype has apparently released an update and many people have expired versions on their phone as of this morning. I'm not sure how to fix it, though.

Im on serendipity 5.11 and the same happened to me last night. How do we fix this?

were you using one of the themed versions?

Uninstall swype with tibu, delete libswypecore.so from /system/lib with a terminal, adb, or a root file explorer, reboot.
Go to beta.swype.com sign up and get the installer and follow instructions from there. It will be un themed but working.

There are two threads in Q&A right now with same issue. They have several links and a few options that may help you.

The attached .zip file is a CWM flashable file to re-install the default Swype that comes with Cognition.

Thanks. I uninstalled manually as you said, tried to install the beta, received an error, rebooted the phone and tried installing the beta again and it worked fine.

Worked for me.
Originally running Serendipity 5.12 with themed Swype that expired.
Flashed this with CWM and have stock non themed Swype working without issue.
Thanks CB650 Wolf for pulling Swype out of Cog and posting!!!!

beta error went away with that zip file but I can't actually swype. I can see the swipe lines but nothing appears on the screen after. the keyboard blinks and then nothing. anyone else?

Maybe reboot or uninstall and re-flash?
How did you install?
I booted into CWM recovery.
Selected the ZIP from SD card and flashed.
Upon reboot it was working.
Edit: Performed steps above on two different Cappys.
Working on Serendipity 5.12 and Cog 3.04

Delete lib @ own discretion
Deleting lib removes any "custom" words from Swype...you don not have to remove it to install the new Swype

Worked for me as well. No need to uninstall first, and retained custom words. My home screen widgets wouldn't load afterward, but recreating them corrected that. Thanks CB650 Wolf for putting this up!

I have the latest Swype beta now in my ROM.

I wish I saw this before I deleted it. I just noticed I have to redo all the "custom" four letter words I love to swype so often. Will remember this when swype decides to put out another beta in about four weeks. Swype is still worth the trouble in my book. Especially since my wife and her iphone have to tap tap tap!

Yes. Uninstall and try again.
I am also getting an install error.
I have tried to uninstall the existing 1.1.1 version using the Expsetup but still won't install.
I'm thinking that clearing all associated data for facebook would help but don't know the directories etc that I would need to delete.

Where to get Facebook 1.1.2?
I unistalled V1.1.1 but still cant install new version 1.1.2!!! went to aplication manager and found a file that says com.facebook.katana but doesnt let me do anything with it.
Any ideas?
If you're having problems uninstalling, that's because you used an update.zip and it is installed in the system/app folder. You have to use terminal or adb to mount the folder as rw to remove it.
My question, though, is it better than the one from droid? Cuz if not then I don't want to waste my time updating...

Most importantly would be to ask how do you get your system back to normal so you can install updates later.
I know at one time I messed with my prop file to install the Nav at one time. I wonder if that could be a problem. I removed the Facebook app, but it told me it wasn't compatable so I wonder if it that prop file is affecting anything.
Put the original build.trout.prop file back in the /system folder. Deleted the old Sholes/droid version via the market and it installed without a hitch.
It doesn't seem to like a modified prop file.
To me personally it looks just like the droids version except the white bar at the top is fixed.
Heres the line you want to change back.
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/kila/dream/trout:1.6/DRC83/14721:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
or upload this buid.trout.prop file to your /system folder. Just drop the .txt from the end.
EDIT.
After fighting a bit with the prop file I ended up just reflashing the rom that I originally installed which over wrote the modded prop file. Now I'm back to the orginal file and then I used the APK provided here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5147596&postcount=16
After that I uninstalled it via the market and reinstalled it now I'm back to where I should be.
So you could use that stock prop file, but after 5 or so tries it was sorta mixed results.
Anyone got the apk? I tried the site posted above but nothing happened.

what commands in terminal to mount the folder as rw to remove it?
i used a script to switch my build.trout, but i used the script to switch back to the old one and i can't get FB to install. i never did anything to mod these for the nav and FB a few weeks ago.

help skinning Genie widget

I've changed some png's (of a working apk) but keeping the size, signed the apk (with the right click method), but I get the message that it's not posible to install it.
What is wrong?
Which rom are you installing them on and your signing tool might be the problem too.
In my experience with GenieWidget.apk for the G1/MT3G, you have to push it to /system/app/ and reboot to get it to work. I don't know if it can be installed to /data/app/.

take a non-multi-touch keyboard and press one key then try to press another key. It will only pick up on the first key that you press.
You can type with 2 fingers but it's like you have to use one finger at a time fairly slow.

I originally installed the .apk of this keyboard and got FC's. I cleared the entire devlik cache and installed this .zip via clockwork and I'm still getting FC's. Any ideas?
Alright I figured it out. FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVING A FORCE CLOSE WITH "LATIN" IN THE NAME, these are the steps that I took (if you've already flashed via clockwork):
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR PHONE, this is just how I fixed this issue.
1.) Go into system/app and DELETE your DXkeyboard.apk
2.) Go into data/devlik cache and delete the line that has "DX.." in the name (i forgot what its called)
the above two steps thus far are what I DID, they may not be necessary.
3.) unzip the dxkbd file that was in the OP on your desktop
4.) go into "system" and you'll see "app" and "library"
5.) copy the .apk file and .so file from "app" and "library" respectively and put them on your sdcard
6.) using root explorer, move the .so file to system / lib
7.) using root explorer, move the .apk file to system / app
8.) DELETE "latinIME" apk and odex
9.) DELETE latintutorial (or something like that, its right under latinIME odex i believe)
10.) reboot
With the exception of deleting things, thats precisely what the package in the op does.

1. Download the file found in this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864033
2. Power down and reboot into cwm.
3. Select mounts and storage and then select mount system.
4. Install zip from sd and select the zip from step one.
5. Reboot and enjoy.
6. In settings>language&keyboard there should now be an option for android keyboard. Open the browser and long press the url bar. You should get a popup allowing you to select the android keyboard.

I followed the instructions above ands while I can see the android keyboard under settings, clicking on the URL space on my browser only pops up the starndard TnT keyboard. How long do I need to engage the URL space? I would like to test it.
Try the google search bar. Just press and hold you should get a pop up. Select "input method" the android keyboard should be an option.
i'm curious as to why people prefer this keyboard over the stock TnT keyboard. the TnT has bigger keys. the gingerbread has these small little "half" keys. annoying to type on. or do other roms not have that keyboard?

[Q] CM6 Keyboard Help

I'm finally breaking down and trying out CM6, really don't like the stock keyboard and am having problems with the XDA HTC_IME one. I don't want to have to choose the keyboard every time the phone boots up, but if I delete the stock keyboard the XDA one force-closes every few seconds.
I've tried this one and this one. Anyone know how to get the XDA keyboard working by itself in CM6 Stable? Thanks!
You have to pick a new keyboard each time you reboot? I haven't heard of that one. I use that first link you posted, the Steel My Elegance one, and I haven't had a problem with it. How did you install it?
I've tried installing it from command using adb install as well as placing it in the system/app folder and resigning the CM6.zip to install the entire ROM from recovery. Using RA 1.6.2
It's driving me nuts

Finally got it working. Here's what I did:
1) Delete LatinIME from the ZIP
2) Add Clicker + HTC_IME (v27.2)
3) Flash ZIP. Receive force closes when ROM boots
4) Reinstall both APKs using "adb install -r". The -r parameter did the trick.
Eeysh, what a pain. Hope this can help anyone else who has issues with this keyboard.
Just saying 'dang'. I learned to love the CM6 keyboard.
But I must say kudos to you. I had tried a long time ago, with no luck
