Youtube HQ - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I could have sworn I used to be able to watch HQ videos in the YouTube app. But now, it's like my Hero can't handle it. When I try enabling HQ, the video doesn't show, I hear jittery audio, and my phone becomes very unresponsive. Unchecking HQ fixes all of this, but... SD is so blurry
If it matters, I'm running CM6.

I notice this problem if the video is available in 720p/1080p on YouTube. But if it's only available in 480p or lower, the video plays fine. I think it may be a problem with the app (plus our phone being underpowered).

I never tried the HQ option with the new builds. I'll see if I get the same issue.

I suspected this was the case... too bad there is no way for us to set 480p to be the maximum. I have tried playing 720p .mp4 files and indeed they experience the same problem, problem solved when using 480p.

Yeah. It's definitely choppy. No way to correct it?

The two Tegra videos (1080p) that came with the phone run just fine, even on HDMI out.
You are probably encoding your videos with the wrong AVC profile. O2X supports nothing other than baseline profile, so all else will be laggy.

no I have try the same video in 720p mp4 is laggy before the update, and now everything work fine, and this 2 FHD come with the phone is difference
p.s. I didnt encoding I just download a 720p MTV video from youtube without converting or re-encoding.
Reviews have said that 720p is better then the lower 1080p 24 fps - so you might want to just stay with 720p.
You should never really notice a difference on the phone, and on a TV monitor, even at 30 fps, it is hard to notice the difference until you get up to a 46-50 inch or larger screen.
Encoding, downloading, doesn't matter. If it is anything other than baseline profile it will lag no matter how many updates we get. That being said, I don't know what youtube uses, so it might be something else completely.

[Q] Cannot stream videos?

Hey guys, I have my Droid 4 running AOKP - JB from Hashcode and I've started to notice I can no longer stream youtube videos (from the app or the website), also have the same issue with the vevo app.
As well, I can receive live video from Skype but cannot send live video. (It'll take one frame and send it as a still picture, if I turn off the video and turn it back on, it'll grab one frame again).
I'm sure these are two separate issues, but couldn't help but to clash them together.
Anyone have any ideas on this or am I the only one having this issue?
Update: I can now play High Quality YouTube videos but normal still has the issue.
Youtube issue: Trys to load, plays a little, goes to buffer, then buffers, then restarts again, then pops up saying "There was a problem while playing Touch to retry."
I'm experiencing exactly the same, but haven't tested the issue with skype. HQ Videos work, normal streaming same problem as you have.
I also have problems viewing videos. Mainly the youtube app. Using youtube through the browser works like a charm...strange.
Sent from my XT894 using xda premium
it's working wonderful since I've changed to newest eclipse rom (was on JB before)

Why does Youtube App or video playback in general never work on Official CM12?

Why does Youtube App or video playback in general never work on Official CM12?
I've tried reflashing reinstalling and everytime no matter what trick i try youtube never works...i just get the same message with the continuous loop then spells the message saying unable to to video touch to retry :/
How do i fix Youtube? Also tried playing general videos i have stored on my microsd card and nothing plays so i guess video playback is completely broken? :S
If you turn the quality down to 360 or 480 youtube plays again.. its the HW acc that it is not working atm

Nexus 6 Video Playback Lag

Hi all, I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this as well as any possible suggestions. I have noticed when watching videos I have recorded on my phone via ANY camera app produce fine videos. When I attempt to watch them, however, there is noticeable stuttering and lag where the video does not completely freeze at all but looks almost slightly jumpy. I have uploaded a few of the videos to YouTube and noticed when watching those there is no stuttering. I have not had the chance to try Playback via PC. Does anyone else notice this? Is the phone just lagging playing the natively recorded video files back? I'm only doing 1080p btw, not 4K. Thanks!

mine plays back my 4K recorded videos just fine(of course its not in 4K on the phone when watching)..
Bump! I have this same issue. I thought it was my video recording choppy, but now that I checked on another device I see it's a playback problem. I'm on 5.1.1 T-Mobile Motorola phone.
Anyone? I still have this problem, which is only playback related. If I can give MX player to play the videos things are fine, but somehow Photos eventually takes neck default control and its a pain in my ass!

Video recording playback issue!

So iv never recorded anything with my nexus. the other night i went to a concert and recorded some footage of the band in 4k recording. It seems when i go into photos and try and view all the videos the app will crash, lag, or just wont work! Even when trying to drag and drop my videos from my phone via USB the file transer always seems to fail, is this because i recorded in 4k and it just bugs out?
