[Q] Autofocus in camera mode - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way/mod to get a real autofocus when we are in photo mode so that we need just one click to take a photo?
I need to first touch the focus point and then touch the shoot button.
Thanks!

The hacked camera.apk seems to do it if you press the power button to take a photo.

where do we find this hacked camera.apk?

while the hacked camera works, I don't think it's the ideal solution. It does allow you to take a picture simply by pressing the power button, but sometimes it doesnt focus correctly and still takes a snapshot, making the resulting picture blurry.
What the OP wanted (I am searching for it too) is some sort of tweak that will allow the camera to auto and correct its focus when you just simply point it at something. When it has focused, you just simply need to press the camera shutter key and BAM, great pics.

How can I quit the autofocus?

Hello.
How can I quit the autofocus from the camera?.
I want to make a photography and when I push the button, my dog isn't in the place. Because it's so slowly to make a photo.
Can I touch the registry and change this for make the camera more fast?.
Thanks.
I doubt you can. The lens wasn't made for fixed focus... at best you could fix it at infinity but that's not going to help with indoor dog shots...

You do realize it focuses on the half press of the button, right? This is standard problem with all autofocus cameras, and the only real solution is to pre-focus by pressing button halfway, then depressing fully when your subject is in place and composed the way you want it.
Good luck!

Pic2Shop / Camera Focus

I have recently install Pic2Shop on my HD2 WP7. When I try to use the camera to scan the barcode on a product - the image is blurry. Pic2shop then says that it can not read the barcode, and to focus the image - it suggests to hold the shutter button half way down. I find that I can not do that on my HD2 with it triggering the shutter. How do you focus the camera on WP7? Anyone else run into this?
You cant until the developers fix this non focusing problem on our HD2 builds...
delete the app and wait
That's not right. Maybe with this barcode app you can't focus, but with the normal camera app its possible. Just change into camcorder mode, the focus will sharpen the picture, then change back to camera and take a photo, have fun!

It's true but I take the pic quickly because focus blurs again slowly
unfortunately the app disables the cam mode
As a temporary measure until it is fixed you can always enter the code manually
Try this

Power button as shutter/focuser in camera mode

It would be great if someone could mod the camera app to use power button as shutter button similar to how right shoulder button was used in the xperia play mod app allowing you to hold it to focus and release it to take a picture.

Already been talked about here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141755&highlight=dedicated you will need root access but it can be done
Thanks - the other posts were slightly broader discussing lack of dedicated camera button, etc - I can live without a hardware button to launch camera up and very happy how zooming works with the volume rocker and would not want to lose that.
Also old camera mod app for xperia Play did not require root but xperia play mod used R trigger not power button so maybe you are right about root access.
I know power button can be used for ending calls in other xperia phones if enabled in accessibility menu - I wonder if the camera shutter option can be added in the similar fashion as an alternative to modding the stock camera app.

I hope so, I was a bit miffed when I found out their wasn't a camera button but it was the speaker....as this will be my first Sony device and most of their devices have had dedicated buttons....but I'm sure someone in XDA will bring out a mod
It should be a camera setting. Yes you'd lose digital zoom but that's fine for me as I'd never use digital zoom anyway.
The positioning of the volume keys would make it ideal and vastly improve the camera thanks to the shortsighted decision not to add a camera button (and thus lose the quick launch feature, which isn't possible to replicate just by having a camera icon on the lock screen).
When I went to take a picture yesterday I assumed that the button was to take a picture, was very disappointed when the screen just went black lol
Looks like this is going to be yet another phone that I am never going to take pictures with, I hate having to find the correct place on the screen to take a picture, once it has finally auto focused properly.

Or you can download and use CameraZoom FX.

[Q] How to take drama shot?

I tried. I selected 'Shot & more' mode. Then took picture of a moving objects (I tried kids, vehicle etc).
The object was moving from one end of the frame to other. While taking the picture, I hold down the camera button.
Once the button is released, its starts 'processing'. When processing is completed, it displays the photo.
How much ever I try, I get only 'Best photo' and sometimes 'Eraser' options enabled.
Never Drama shot or Panning shot enabled.
Any idea how to get this working?

some interesting suggestions here - http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/381821-taking-drama-shot.html
As someone who posted in the forum linked above, I can tell you the advice you need is there. There are also lots of official guides for the S4 that will help with the S5 as well.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Had a chance to play with it again yesterday.
I was finally able to crack it.
What I was doing wrong: When the subject entered the frame, press the camera icon. Keep holding until subject exited the frame.
What need to be done: When subject enters the frame, tap on the camera icon. Like you do when taking normal picture. Don't hold it.
Camera will display 'Processing....'. I think its taking additional pictures at this time. Hence hold your camera study and don't change the frame.
Once camera completes processing, it will display the image with all options like Drama shot, Panning shot etc enabled.
Attached is my successful attempt from it.

Thanks so freaking much. Moving Subject MUST be in frame FIRST before you TAP ONCE. Do not HOLD or it will take burst shots and only offer "BEST SHOT" feature. Thanks so much i was getting so frustrated

[Q] Is it possible to change autofocus to fixed focus

Hello All,
Many a times i get blurred pics with rear camera due to the camera autofocus not complete or focus shifts while pressing the shutter button.
So,
1) Is it possible to start focusing only after i press the shutter button?
2) Is it possible to change focusing method from autofocus to fixed focus? I think there is this option in xperia mobiles.
Thanks in advance.
