[Q] Multitouch Keyboard from Official Froyo (Starhub) - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Would like to know if anyone have extracted the apk for the multitouch keyboard for the official froyo starhub release?
Correct me if I am wrong, it seems that none of the custom roms have it and I kinda like it alot.
Not sure if its the same one as the droidx multitouch keyboard that has been going around.

You can take it from any of the stock Moto Roms? Why do you want it for? Are you not running Froyo?

Sorry, cos I do not know how to "take" it from stock Moto Roms. Would you mind teaching me how to?
Well, I am running FroyoMod now but it does not have that keyboard.

Oh wow! Thanks!

You can try this.
Edit : The flashable zip i told spoke about earlier is attached.
Please backup first before applying. Wipe dalvik and cache and then apply in AOR. Let me know if you encounter any problems. You may have to activate the keyboard in Settings->Language and Keyboard.

I've tried but it kept giving FCs. Even when it is not selected. It'll FC twice before going silent for a while and it'll come back for 2 FCs after a while.

Can anyone tell me what is so special about this keyboard?
Isn't swyping easy?

Thanks for the list, tho
Thanks, just added!
now if only cyanogen were on that list, id root my phone right now...
Would really be nice to get all of those into the Rom Manager so they are easily found and downloaded.
Hah no kidding. Do it anyway, just being able to have root apps makes it worth it.
I agree, I would really like to see CM6 here soon.
Thanks for this, man!
+1 vote for sticky!
I'd like to thank Swype for all of my typos.

Anyone using any of these ROM's?
I personally am not. I think that the stock rom is just fine. I will wait till the official 2.2 comes out, then there will be no need for a custom rom, at least for efficiency. What I have noticed though since I rooted was the more apps I have installed to make my phone "better, faster, more battery efficient" just seemed to burn up my battery. Not sure exactly what apps were doing so but since I have deleted all of those types of apps and are using nothing now.

Gingerbread Themes

Gingerbread themes are all the rage right now, but I haven't been able to find one for the Eris. If anyone knows of any maybe this can be a good home to put them all. If you do post a theme please also provide what rom you are using it on, for compatibility issues. Thanks!

That theme should work on CM6-based ROMs. I tried it on Tazz Froyo and it seemed to work.

I just tried the update.zip and it seemed to work fine. The only thing is now instead of saying Verizon on the lockscreen/pull down it says "CDMA64". Is there any ways to fix this? I remember there being a verizon.zip a long time ago. DOes anyone still have that?

Can the "old-tv" screen animation be ported to cm6 ?
It has been tried earlier. It seems to be very difficult.

Thanks for your reply. All in all gingerbread is great but to my personal experience it's not that snappy like froyo. I'm using launcher pro plus as home replacement and in froyo I managed to set it so I wont get redraws when closing the browser or other application that needs a lot of ram.
Note: I disabled JIT
In gingerbread with the same settings of launcher pro I get redraws. I tried with jit disabled, enabled, vmheap 32,40 and it's the same.
Is it something that I'm missing out?
If it werent for this everything would be great about this rom!
Yes. I agree. I do not see much advantage in using GB to Froyo as of now. If only we could port the screen off CRT animation to Froyo, it would have been great. But it seems to be built deep into the framework. Check this link.
I had the problems you mentioned with the CM7 alpha release and IceandFire ROM.
Whereas on Shadowmod and Hobomod , the phone is seriously zippy! The latter being slightly better!

Really. I will try them and report back later No need to wipe anything when moving from CM7 to Shadow or Hobo right?
A full Data/factory reset is advised at least thats what i did.
I did 2 Wipes from the stock recovery and then 3 wipes from Androiddiani OR 3.3.

I would reccomend wiping before moving to either rom (just to be safe), though you won't need a wipe for moving between my mod and shadow and vice versa.
Also, if you can wait about 7 hours, I should have a new version of hobomod up

It seems that the guys dont work anymore on putting the CRT animation into FROYO. I mean it would be great but it's pretty difficult to do it because it's very well coded inside the framework, something like that.
Froyo? Wait a minute... Oh, yes Froyo! You mean that ancient Android version that will not receive any more fixes and enhancements... Hmm, Froyo. OK, enjoy it.

As for animations, everyone who attempted it indeed failed, its probably possible but hard.

[REQ][Q]Droid X Gingerbread Keyboard

Hey, I was wondering if someone can turn the Droid X Keyboard from the leaked Droid X Gingerbread ROM into an installable APK that works with Gingerbread. I already tried multiple ways to install the APK's designed for 2.2 and 2.1 but none work on Gingerbread, so I decided to find the leak and take out the APK from that.
EDIT: The post at the bottom of the link below has a download that contains both the ODEX and the APK for the Native DroidX 2 keyboard

Exactly what I got. I'm not sure what's going on. I'll look at some logcats and see what I can find...
I really like the keyboard though. It's great on the DX. There's more button space on it, compared to the stock Gingerbread KB.

[Q] Gingerbread with Sense

What happened to Rock Steady CM7 with Sense? The thread is closed and the download links don't work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003069
Is there any way to get CM7 for the Hero with Sense?
If not, there is Gingerbread with Sense. I found Sensible Gingerbread on the Wiki.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059481
When I flashed the ROM earlier it would not work, but I'll try again later.
Check out the Hero Development forum. There's a gingerbread ROM with sense 3.5 called Zero Hero. I don't even like sense on our Heros and i think its pretty sweet.

If the browser doesn't work download Opera or Dolphin. Will work just fine. We optimized that rom to run pretty damn good in these old heros. Just don't fill up the home screens and tons of apps or it will bog down.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try Dolphin since I've used it before and it was okay. I don't know why, but I prefer the original Browser.
EDIT: Oh and btw, WiFi was not working for me on Zero Hero Sense. Is there a way to fix that?
hey just an fyi we dont talk about rocksteady around here the guy who made the ports was bannanas to say the least matt knows what im talking about lol.
Oh ok sorry.
The Sensible Gingerbread says to flash FR-recovery. What is that? I currently have ROM Manager and the Clockwork Recovery. Whenever I try to flash Sensible Gingerbread with that, it reboots into recovery every time I try to reboot it.
firates is just a tool that partitions your sd card for better memory management theres a thread in development on how to set it up.

Is there something different that I need to do for Sensible Gingerbread than I do for most roms?
The original thread says
How to install(might be a waste of time)
wipe ALL, flash FR-recovery, wipe ALL, reboot recovery, flash ROM, reboot. It is also recommended that you have an s-off bootloader, since FR is a recovery modification. It installed fine for the testers, so YMMV. But be warned, bricks are your fault, not someone elses Also, the CPU frequencies are now 245xxx (needs to be fixed, keep reading) - 729xxx (careful, some phones can only handle 691xxx). You need an overclock method (setCPU, overclock widget) to change the frequencies to 264xxx - 691xxx.
