[Q] need help with hd2 pls... - T-Mobile HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Development

hi guys
i am a new hd2 (t mobile, unlocked, original rom) user.
pls advise on the following issues i have,
1. battery barely lasts one day. is this a problem with all hd2s or any problem with my battery?
2. i compared mine with another hd2 with the energy rom. and that one seemed to be much more touch friendly and smoother than mine. is this due to the rom? could the screen guard i m using be affecting touch sensitivity?
thanks

1 a day is about right. Its not a great battery and its a hungry screen., you will get used to it, and learn how to manage it.
2 in most cases cooked roms will knock stock into a cocked hat in all respects, and the rom you mention is one of the finest.

thanks that was very helpful and cleared some doubts. pls give me any other hints that you think would helpful.

There is only one truly worthwhile tip,,, read, read everything then read most of it again.

Tip 2. Once you have read everything go and install an Energy ROM such as 23699 (my favourite) or the latest 29017 & enjoy an amazing experience.

and where can i get that rom?

Latest energy ROM can be found here:

My personal favourite ROM can be found in Nov2010 repository:
http://www.mediafire.com/?8iepvskmj5rxd#0,1
A good experience with WM does require a user with some skill or motivation to set it up well.
The reward can be an amazing mobile experience that makes Android look outdated, muddled & functionally crippled.

Rhodium noob, Longtime Wizard user

Okay, so I finally gave up my Wizard for Tmo's Touch Pro 2. I had a cooked rom on my Wizard that was bare-bones but wicked stable and fast. I am a mom who has to juggle PTA, games and other social activities with doc appointments and banking, etc...I want a rom that is responsive, fast, crazy stable, good on battery life and without a lot of bells and whistles. I prefer to add the apps I need and leave the rest behind. What custom rom would you suggest for me? I have read the various tutorials about unlocking and flashing the Rhodium, and am not new to using cooked rom...just new to the device. Also if there any tricks to make using the device better/fun, I'd love to hear them. Thank you for you advice, and I hope to become a contributor in this section, and get to know all of you here.
A moment of silence please while I lay my Wizard to rest... *taps plays in the background*

energyROM 21869 with manila 2.1 is your best bet... stay away from the newer 6.5.1 builds. i do like flashing the newest and checking it out, but stable is where its at and the 21869 builds have been refined for quite a while now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585403
This is the ATT Rom that got stretched out to the bare bones and got optimized by speed.
The chief has some cabs in there that will optimize it even more.
-I suggest putting on the cab to disable push for internet because you free up 10MB of RAM.
-And then install the 3G coverage in the comm manager so you can disable 3G when you are not using it. This will up the batter life.
My RAM with nothing running ranges from 55 to 60 percent.
Good to know, I appreciate the responses and welcome any input anyone else has to offer. Thank you again for the help.
My usual response....ROM is personal choice, it all depends on what you install in your phone, and what you use your phone for! Best choice will be read and flash...
as ndn715 said, id recommend Energy's 'photon' ROM. Fast reliable but with a hint of class
The 'Leo' version of this ROM is a lot more buggy and i found it bogs down a bit, being because it was originally designed for the Leo with a much faster processor

Thank you...and I do understand that. I was just trying to find a jumping off point so that I don't blow through 50 roms that have too much junk on them when what I want is pretty vanilla. It seems that the Photon rom seems to be the one to start off with and go from there...and reading about the rom, and the chef, it seems that it has been tested specifically for speed and stability which is really important to me.
My next question is this...there does not seem to be a dedicated wiki for this...or perhaps I have somehow managed to miss it...but before I flash my phone, I'd love to get a copy of Tmo's stock rom. Since Tmo has changed their website, I am not finding a stock rom (as I was able to do years ago with my Wizard)...so does anyone have a copy of Tmo's stock rom? This way if I need to exchange the phone for any reason, it is not completely obvious that I voided my warranty by modifying the phone.
Again, I appreciate everyone's input and welcome and thank you for any future advice that can be offered.
Welcome!
Before you give the Proton ROM a run (excellent choice btw), you might like to take a look at this one too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572938
There's a light version that might suit your needs - I run the full vesrion and it hasn't missed a beat.

Best Sense 2.5 Rom?

I've stayed away from anything Manilla for months now. I was tired of a sluggish interface. However I was thinking about giving it another shot to see what our fantastic chefs were able to do it it. So in everyone's opinion what is currently the FASTEST 2.5 rom out there that uses the WM 6.5.5. Any input would be much appreciated.
Oh and another thing I was curious about. Another reason I stopped using it was because it didn't really cooperate well with Iconsoft Phonex. Does anyone know if they clash still? (One example of a problem i had was HTC favorite contacts wouldn't go through to place a call when clicking a contact)
thanks
opinion here
read, try and find out 4 yourself
best
I am asking for speed, that is something measurable. I remember people would ask these all the time and quite often there was a general consensus like "Try Touch X Final. Its super fast!" or "Oh man! spikegotti's UnOff series is the best!"
So i was just wondering if there was a specific ROM that most people had more success with than others. If you don't have an answer or are annoyed by the thread I am sorry, but no one is forcing you to post an answer. I was just looking for anyone that had legitimate input. I'd prefer not to completely waste two days flashing every single ROM only to find out that i still dont really like manilla
Well, then do some research on your own. You know, users talk about how they felt the speed is like in threads of different roms. Have a look what rom appeals to you and then read some comments...would not be bad, would it?
I agree with other people, but I would also advice to start your searching from Valkyrie TR 6.0.28232
Try Valkyrie's rom. In my opinion it's fast, stable and you have all needed applications preinstalled
To help your case:
click the link in my signature. There are pretty good, fast, stable and bug-less roms on that blog. Also you could try blaze or valkyries like it has been mentioned already.
So except Valkryie is there another ROM that has Sense 2.5 and stable...Thanx a TON!!
I've just installed this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637679
and its quite good so far.
Touch-IT BR 21893
I've flashed this one awhile ago and its working perfectly for me. So fast and stable but i disabled HTC messaging, u can search for the cab here in the forum... Cheers!
Go for Rotastrain's Blaze!
It's fast and stable, and any bugs are usually dealt with immediately.

Does the battery drain, also do u have the SOD(Phone freezing after sleep mode) and more than that, is it stable??
I genuinely recommend NRG's Energy Leo 23541 build - i've been using it for just over a week and it is simply amazing; with all my own apps added to the plethora of USEFUL apps already installed, it still flies along at top speed.
Note: Best practise is always to flash the ROM, then hard reset (Press the reset button whilst holding down the two front buttons under the screen) - this ensures best speed/stability!
See the ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562935
Baring in mind i'm a tight b****rd; i have actually donated for this ROM. That says something!!

Hi,
My battery doesnt drain any faster with this ROM installed I get normal battery life.
Not sure about hte SOD issue you speak about.. if you mean does the phone freeze after I've unlocked the screen lock then no I generally havent experianced any freezeing on the phone since installing this ROM so basically I find it very stable.

[Q] Best ROM for business use???

Hey Guys, sorry if I should not be posting a new post here. I am new to windows devices... I am trying to help my brother out. He has a Touch Pro2 and has convinced his boss to allow me to hack it for the sake of speed and stability. I am looking at the mirage of ROM's here... just as many here as there are in the Android Dev side of things!!!
So my question is, what is going to be the best rom to start with? I am not looking for fancy features... I AM looking to speed up the device!
So my question is... what is the best ROM for the sake of Speed and Stability???
I need this device to run as fast as it can... without overheating... I am not so worried about battery life as he, and the rest of his guys, have and use car chargers most of the day.
Thanks for your help!
I would recommend Wild Child's WCX here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750620
Thats the fastest, stock like Sense 2.5 ROM.
He is the chef that helps me with my ROMs so I know he does a good job.
You can also try LBFAR here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642956
It is super fast but uses old UI.
I wouldn't recommend mines as it is right now since I got 2 or 3 bugs on the Sense UI. Its super fast but I wouldn't recommend it for "business use" yet. Maybe next release.
Best ROM
I have not tried the ROMs listed above but I have had great success! (Borat voice) with the Energy series ROMs by NRGZ28. He seems to have cooked a ROM for everybody (sense 2.5, sense 2.1, max sense, cookie... etc.) If you are looking for speed and stability, I would suggest his sense 2.1 or titanium ROM. For a fast ROM that has the most functionality, I would suggest the sense 2.5 ROM with cookie. He also adds in a ton of customization and useful applications and every one of his ROMs uses XDA UC which allows you to flash a ROM and automatically restore almost all the settings, applications and customization you had prior to flashing a new ROM.
Check it all out here:

Jackos Oldschool ROM WM6.1 21048 + TF3D 2.1
The author claims it's built for free RAM, not speed, but it's damn fast. WM 6.1 and Manila 2.1 - nothing fancy indeed, but awesome in all respects. As for stability - that may very well be linked to the amount of free RAM
Oh btw. All the ROMs recommended this far are for GSM devices AFAIK. If you have a CDMA one, there's a different subforum for that.
Thanks for the input!!!
I am testing and compairing three of the roms listed... I'll tell you how it goes. I think I'll start with the Jackos Oldschool first, as it looks like it might hold the most promise having the most ram available.
Thanks again!

[Q] The Best ROM(s) on Touch Pro 2

Hi,
I am a newbie when it comes to smartphones and the rest. And this is exactly why I'd like to know what is/are the best ROM(s) on Touch Pro 2.
I'm currently using Windows Mobile 6.5.
The criteria should be:
- Visual effects
- Responsiveness (speed)
- Ease of use
- Minimal usage of the RAM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
this coming also from a newbie, which is using this ROM for a couple of months now. good luck!
There is no "best" ROM. It depends on your individual needs and preferences. Many people here generally frown upon questions like this, because its an insult to the hard work that the chefs do to create the custom ROMs, to recommend one over the other.
At the risk of contradicting myself a bit, I know the choice can be overwhelming for n00bs. So I will just briefly mention my personal experience. I used Energy for a long time, tried Deep Shining, and simplicity is my current favorite. But that doesn't mean that other ROMs are not great also. Valkyrie and Jackos also get lots of good response on these forums.
Thank you very much! I'll read through right away!!!
Oops! I didn't know I was trespassing. However, thank you for understanding me. I'll further my research using the names of ROMs you've given me. Thank you once again!
The fastest ROM I've ever tried was OndraSter's TouchFlo 3D ROM. Its probably the fastest ROM for the TP2.

Try the JackOS ROM, i'm a fan! It's stable as a rock and he added OCT, so your phone is overclocked to 710Mhz by default.
He is a perfectionist as he wants to minimize memory leaks (read: low mem usage).
I can really recommend his roms
Grtz,
FeareX
I too am new to Windows Mobile and found my ATT Tilt 2 a bit slow.
I've HardSPLed my phone, loaded all the different ROMS from NRG and after running them for quite some time, and screwing with them found that there are things left out that only the stock ROM provides....as in:
GPS
keyboard functions even after loading the keyboard fix it will not retrack.
Widgets that go missing after you have set them up....
Little things.....
I went back to the upgraded ROM form HTC.
I would suggest the same....
There's crudscraper which will free up some space and a couple of cabs that will give you 16 quick links and contacts but.......
I would suggest loading the basic HTC rom and purchasing SPB Shell.
Quite frankly, IT WORKS.
Later....
Go find the ROMs Wildchild builds. They are like stock ROMs but MUCH MUCH more stable and fast. Lean and mean. Link in my sig.
My 2 cents. Tried many over extended period of time from:
- simplest eras2r (but one of the most solid-like-a-rock with a good battery and performance) to
- Energy's huge variety of choices
- Wild Child's
- Simplicity's (was not very simple for me, had a couple of stability issues)
- etc. etc. etc.
Has never had a chance to actually try Jackos's. Just now tried Jackos's full s2 ROM. Flying, tons of storage and program memory, right programs, right layout for me. If this baby is stable, not sure will ever look for something else.
My personal opinion go with latest Jackos ROM, OndraSter did also meke some good ones, but no sense ...
I guess there really isnt too much to say anymore but just to try them all... The only thing i do suggest is making sure you do the "task 29" ( forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191) between flashes just so u know ur getting the most purity from all ur roms. Different roms offer different things and as u go through there post the objectives of the roms. Another thing i suggest you try is, getting a rom like Jackos S2, disabling sence from the options and trying the android prj. But at the end of the day u find the rom that fits u!
What ROM cooked with Maxsense would you suggest to a newbie like me?

[Q] Recommend me a ROM

I'm strongly considering about installing a new ROM. But before I do, I have a few questions before I do something I'll regret.
1. Since I've been gone from ROMs and XDA forums for a while, can you recommend me a ROM that is: stable, (almost) as fast as a stock ROM, fully functional (everything works as it should and no crashes), no RAM or CPU hogger, yet I see some eye candy (like these guys here)
2. Is it easy finding themes or do I have to scavenge the entire X1 subforums and topics to find something decent?
3. Is it easy changing themes (icons and the whole works)
4. perhaps a link to ROM comparisons?
Yes I know I'm whining, lol .. it's just that I want to minimize regretting a ROM change

Well the only type of 6.5.3 roms that would be as fast and stable as stock roms are the Titanium roms hands down. But the Titanium roms come with no Eye Candy so you have to ask yourself what type of UI would I want to run over them? There is a bunch of UI'S for WM, The ones I use are WAD(Wishbar Advance Desktop), Throttle Launcher 1.2.1, and Infinity 2.8. Though development has stopped for Infinity 2.8 because the guy thought it be more beneficial for him and his team to move to WP7rolleyes it's still one of the fastest UI'S I've ever used for WM. Now for me I don't like changing roms alot also because of the limited rom flashing cycle so I always research hard on a rom that I want to use because my goal is to flash my phone and never have to flash again and so far since 11/20/2010 I have reached my goal. I suggest looking at NRGZ28 Energy Titanium roms they are very stable, lots of free ram, and good battery life. I've also here alot of good things about Christians's roms. Also if you going with 6.5x also consider the different build numbers 231x,235x, 282x, and 29x because each has an effect on older 6.1 programs. All my programs work good on 282xx but we obviously might not be using the same programs .
2) Since I've had my X1i I have never used the X1 theme section if your looking for themes use the WM theme section under WM Development and Hacking.
3.) It's very easy changing icons as long as there is a folder that holds the icons for the specific theme you are using, it's as easy as finding the icon you want to change renaming the icon you want to use and that's it. The WAD theme and TL theme I showed in the Show Your Screen thread I completely reskinned myself with my own icons.
In this Q&A thread there has been many people who ask this very same question read through there threads and the answers people gave. I hope I helped alittle .
Thanks for the heads-up. I took a look at NRGZ28's Energy ROM and I'm pleased with what I read in his thread and saw on the screenshots. Kinda tempted to try out the .sencity but it's not 100% yet .. So I guess I'll go for the Energy one instead since it looks almost the same(ish).
I'm about to backup my contacts, use Task29 and then flash it.
edit: shucks .. my battery is as good as empty. Won't survive a flash

Well, Energy ROM has lot's of eye candy, but IMO is a bit irresponsive from times times.
I'm using Laurenti's 6.5 LITE rom, and that's the way to go for me. Reliable and fast at thee price of visual effects, which are pointless except if you're bragging infront of your friends.
My recommendation for you is the "826x WM 6.5.3 build 29007 - Sense 2019"...Use the following link to check the details about the ROM : http://826x.blogspot.com/2011/01/rom-x1-826x-wm-653-build-29007-sense.html
