[RECOVERY] 4/Apr: 3.0.1.4 r1 - ClockworkMod Recovery for the LG Optimus 2X - LG Optimus 2x

DO NOT RUN THIS ON THE G2X! The partition layout is different, doing so will do bad things to your device. I will release a G2X compatible version when I am back online in a week's time!
For the past couple of days I have been working on creating a ClockworkMod recovery image for the LG Optimus 2X. I'm pleased to announce that the first full release is available!
Some points to note - READ THESE CAREFULLY!
Use at your own risk! I have successfully used the backup and restore functionality (nandroid), and am currently testing other functions.
If you manage to break your device completely, this ROM should get you back up and running.
Download
I have packaged the recovery itself and the installation system together in one download zip.
3.0.1.4 r1 DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: 7145b425f95a87dc5bde29ac4eba48ff
Installation automatically on your device
NEW: If your device is rooted, my 99p 2X Recovery Boot app (mentioned below) can now flash the recovery image for you the first time you run the app and on subsequent version updates!
Installation on Windows, Linux and OSX
- Download the zip file above and extract to a directory
- Connect your device and ensure 'USB debugging' is enabled
- WINDOWS - double click 'install-clockworkmod-windows.bat'
- MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-clockworkmod-mac.sh' followed by './install-clockworkmod-mac.sh'
- LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-clockworkmod-linux.sh' followed by './install-clockworkmod-linux.sh'
If you wish, you can also manually install the recovery by pushing the clockworkmod.img file to /data/local/ with adb and running 'dd if=/data/local/clockworkmod.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7' from a root shell.
Launching Recovery
To boot ClockworkMod Recovery, either:
Turn the device on while holding the volume down and power buttons until recovery loads
Download the OPTIONAL 99p 'LG 2X Recovery Boot' application from the Android Market (NOTE: This app is completely optional - if you do use it, thanks for your support!)
Source / Updates
I'll be posting the device profile and source changes on my GitHub shortly, and will issue fixes / new Betas as required.
Enjoy!

You are the best. I am wating for the crowd to test this so I can use it for my mission critical work phone but the future seems bright.

Hi Paul... first of all - Great job here
Second - if one can't get root access via SuperOneClick, like myself, is this still usable?

Great job paul

THANKS! Installing now
Update:
If you get error in windows just change adb-windows.exe to adb.exe

First, thank you very much, Paul. Great job!
Two questions.
1) This method overwrites the standard recovery on the phone, correct?
2) To revert back to standard recovery, one have to flash the whole phone using nvflash, correct?

Okay. Thanks.
Im just curious, who supplies the NVFlash archive? And is the standard recovery image supplied by Nvidia or LG? Since it is part of the NVFlash archive.

Found out why i can get no root access... i got no adb access at all.
First time pluggin in phone after install of LG drivers, it says that the adb interface thingy can't install.
This also causes that i can't install CWM.
Any suggestions as to what is wrong?

Thank you, Paul!

Successful nandroid backup I will try to make a custom rom.
Paul its was a good idea to let clockworkmod make backup to external sd because its not possible to mount usb storage in recovery menu yet.

[RECOVERY][MOD] BAmod Recovery v1.0 (AMOLED AND SLCD!)

I was a little tired of the look of recovery (that green is meh). So I decided to build a custom recovery with a little help from adrynalne and from the CM IRC folks with my added touches.
Please note: DO NOT CONSIDER THIS CLOCKWORKMOD. (Yes it's based off of clockworkmod). DO NOT ASK KOUSH for help with this. If you're having a problem, contact me on twitter (@berzerker7), on irc in ##incredibleroms on freenode, or PM me or reply here or something and I'll help you however I can.
The images were also replaced with the ones from the original Incredible recovery image so it matches the incredible look.
Also included is the super trackpad scroll fix from adrynalyne's custom recovery (hence the B and A in the name).
According to testing, this also works fine with ROM Manager!

THIS DOES, IN FACT, WORK FOR SLCD. The kernel support from adrynalyne has SLCD support!

revert.zip
Installation instructions:
Start here: these are the steps you need to get BAMod to work with ROM Manager:
1. Open ROM Manager, let it detect whatever it needs to detect.
2. Tap on "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery." It should say "Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 2.5.1.2" (or whatever the newest version is) after that.
3. Proceed to install BAMod recovery using any of the three options listed below.
4. Until there's another CWM update, RM should keep thinking you have the latest CWM installed and it should work fine (tested as I typed this).
Note: If there's ever another update, repeat the installation procedure.
Option 1: Using unrevoked
1. Open the unrevoked tool, choose File > Custom recovery, and choose the BAmod img file.
2. Run the tool as you did before and it should install the recovery after it's finished.
Option 2: Manually
1. Download the color of your choice and revert.zip from the downloads above.
2. Push the recovery image and the flash_image binary from revert.zip to /data/local
3. run the following commands:
Code:
adb shell
# cd /data/local
# chmod 755 flash_image
# flash_image recovery BAmod_1.0-<color>.img
That last command is very important, don't misspell anything and make sure you replace <color> with the color you downloaded (red, cyan, etc.).
Option 3: Using a PB31IMG.zip through HBOOT (S-OFF only)
1. Download the PB31IMG of your choice from the downloads above (green, cyan, etc.) and put it on your SDCard named "PB31IMG.zip"
2. Reboot into HBOOT by doing one of the following:
a. Turn the phone completely off, hold the volume down button, then turn it back on while still holding the volume down button.
b.
Code:
adb reboot oem-42
3. If you did this correctly, HBOOT should detect the PB31IMG.zip and ask you to update listing RECOVERY as the only partition. Choose volume up (yes) and it will complete in about 1-2 seconds.
4. When it asks you to reboot, choose volume down (no) and then volume down again to highlight on recovery and press the power button. The phone should boot into recovery so you can see if it worked or not!
4a. If HBOOT didn't detect the PB31IMG.zip, you either didn't name it correctly (check for hidden file extensions), or your SDCard isn't properly formatted (should be FAT32).
Changelog:
1.0
-Initial release
-Based on CWM 2.5.0.9 from latest koush github.
-Swapped out for HTC themed recovery images
Special, special thanks to adrynalyne for his kernel support for SLCD and super scrolling, to koush for his awesome recovery and putting up with my stupid questions, and to #cyanogenmod for source building help
Nice work man! I've got an AMOLED but I'm still gonna give this a go. I'm liking the red.
this does infact work with ROM manager so i would post that in the op
Thanks man great work!!!
This is a nice touch. Since it contains the scrolling fix, I assume it is based off CWM 2.5.0.5?
Also, it is fairly trivial to package up a recovery in a PB31IMG.zip - all you need to do is download a working zip and replace the img file with yours. You're more likely to get people to install it that way.
It's based off of 2.5.0.9, with adrynalyne's kernel fix, which is essentially what the latest clockwork is anyway.
All three links bring up a monstrous page of code with no download. Just an FYI. I'd love to give this a run.

What problem are you having? IMO the easier method is through ADB if you're on windows.
still planning on making a PB31IMG for it? should be pretty simple.
EDIT:
i didnt want to wait
i liked the red one, heres the PB31IMG for it. obviosuly you gotta rename it, i just have it named like to to distnguish from all the other files with te same name. drop it on your sdcard, boot into HBOOT and apply the update

Thanks, I'll post this in the OP along with versions for the cyan/green one later today.

Nice tool, I'll test it as soon as I'll be home.
Edit: Your toolkit works like a charm. This is the easiest way to flash kernels/recoveries I've ever used.
Doesn't work: unknown compression method in winrar,winzip and standard windows extraction program!

Try it with 7-zip.
I compressed it using 7-zip.....
btw i'll see to make it work with winzip, winrar and other compression software.
Update
I'll update a compressed version which will be compatible with all compression software soon.

1. when no device is connected
2. when HTCSyncManager.exe is already using adb servers

I tried to install the Prometheus kernel too now. It wrote Writing Successful but when the phone tries to boot it's stuck at the white HTC screen with the red text (This build is for development purposes only ...). What should I do?
EDIT: I tried to restore to a previous backup, I tried to install a custom ROM I had on my SD Card, none of that worked.

But thats working with my phone......
I tried installing Prometheus Kernel and it was successful....
Try installing the kernel manually.
1. Switch Off your phone and then boot into fastboot mode.
2. Connect your phone to the computer.
3. Open a command prompt in the "tools" folder.
4. Run the following command
"fastboot flash boot boot.img" (without quotes)
5. restart your phone with this command
"fastboot restart"
Tell me whether that worked or not.
Taking the case of the backup or flashing the ROM which recovery did you flashed???
I would recommend you to flash the CWM 6.0.3.0 TOUCH recovery which doesn't till now has a bug.
For this repeat the steps in this post and instead of step 4 just run the following command:
"fastboot flash recovery recovery_touch_6_0_3_0.img"
Then try to flash the ROM.
If it says "Install from sdcard failed" or something like that then retry downloading the ROM.
If nothing works then try FLASHING STOCK ROM...
Edit: How can a restore fail ? What error does it show? Did you change the recovery? Are the recoveries different i.e. the one with which you backed up and the one which you are trying to restore????

Why is the version still 6.0.4.6?

OP Updated
Feb/2 OP updated
Small question: my device is on 10.26.1.17. Updating to the latest official 4.3 will definitely wipe the CWM recovery, and probably will make some of the apps not running any more (not mentioning loosing root, etc..)
Is it possible to install the CWM on such a ROM version (10.26.1.17) ? I've just tested booting it and booting (and using it as a backup) works.
I was on 6.0.4.6 and i used flashify to update. Worked fine.

Very common mistake that happens to the best of us
updated.
Hi,
I spent hours trying to get this to work before discovering there are two missing steps in the OP's instructions.
There's a shell script that calls an application that restores the stock boot loader on every boot.
You have to delete it.
Steps:
1. Root.
2. Install Root Explorer.
3. Go into /etc
4. Delete install_recovery.sh
5. Go into /system
6. Delete recovery-from-boot.p
You have to delete the files. You can't just rename them or change the extension because the system actually searches the filesystem for a file whose contents matches an MD5 hash and will find it if you rename it.
After you do this, THEN follow OP's instructions.

You can use Philz Touch recovery also. Get HERE
4.Rename cwm.img or philz.img you downloaded above and as "recovery.img" and place it in the Redmi2 folder.
Now the folder will look like this-
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5.Press and hold "shift" button and right click in the blank area of the folder and click on "open command promt window here". The command prompt will open.
6.Now turn off your Redmi2. Wait until it vibrates. After it's vibrated press and hold "Volume down and Power" keys together until it boots into "fastboot mode". Now connect the Redmi2 to your PC/Laptop through USB cable in fastboot mode itself.
7.Get to the command prompt now.
Now type: " fastboot devices " (without these- " " )
Like this-
8.Once you enter that command, you will get a non-empty name for the device meaning the device is connected. Proceed to enter the next command
9.Now enter the next command: " fastboot flash recovery recovery.img "
Like this-
10. Now this ends...
Type the last command: " fastboot reboot "
Like this-
11.Now your phone will reboot with ClockWorkMod(CWM) installed. CHEERS...
STEP 2- ROOTING YOUR PHONE
1. Firstly get the SuperSU.zip from HERE
2. Now copy the downloaded zip to your sdcard (not in any folder just in sdcard)
3. Boot into CWM recovery by turning off the phone and pressing "Volume UP and Power" button together after the phone vibrates.
4. Once CWM main menu is displayed, select "Install from zip" and browse to the zip that you downloaded earlier and select it.
5. Install the zip. If you get any warning, ignore and proceed.
6. After the installation is complete, reboot your device. (I think you can do that)
7. VOILA..!!! YOU ROOTED YOUR REDMI2

Ok my fault, It looks I miss the notification MIUI that ask me to allow my pc to dev mode...
Now I have another issue:
After I flash the recovery with flashboot I reboot into recovery but I still have the default one ... not CWM any idea what could be wrong ?
( I have already did this procedure on another phone, same issue but after doing it a couple of time something make the difference )

get "Flashify" app from playstore and first take backup of stock recovery and then flash the cwm with it. Thats it..
Actually I didn't knew this method before i made this guide..
Anyway, fastboot gives us a different feel, doesn't it? :v
wait I don't know flashify but it looks it needs root to flash the recovery ... but I think I need cwm to root ... so I think this is not gonna work ...
Ok got it, this may be useful to anybody face the issue with recovery:
I discovered you can workaround the issue in this way:
Temporary boot into CWM:
HTML:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Root the device using CWM
Flash CWM using flashify
[ CWM when you log out ask you for root so maybe it is not necessary to use the zip file ( but I'm not very expert so maybe I'm wrong)]
You can install GAPPS with CWM `gapps-kk-20140606-signed .zip` but be careful, whenever you update MIUI you will look all software installed using CWM. ( superSu and GAPPS for example )
thanks
thanks!

Okay bro :good:
I'll update the OP
I confirm #postadelmaga the CWM recovery does not stay, the only way to do access it is the fastboot boot recovery.img Here's how I succeeded with two phones now.
power on, start wifi, do Miui updates
install ADB or the files above on PC
reboot to fastboot with voldown+pwr
now comes fastboot boot recovery.img
in CWM, sideload SuperSu and Gapps
connect you preferred VPN (if in China)
install and update all Google apps needed
delete most Chinese apps
hey i m unable to flash recovery plzz help

Hi buddy could you plz port touchwiz from galaxy prime?
The simpler solution is to use the xiaomi update tool and flash a developer rom that has builtin root.
http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/5-4-10.27429/
howto & root from permissions menu:
https://watchpage.wordpress.com/201...redmi-note-4g-developers-roms-version-miui-6/
But to have the cwm running on the phone is always a safe bet for some recovery actions.
not working.
I tried this method. its stuck with flashing the recovery image. always showing flashing the recovery image.... that's all.

[UPDATED] [FIX] HTC Desire 626g+ update (no command error) fix!

Halo all
Most owners here have rooted (kingroot) their system and attempted to update the rom, forgetting OTA conflicts. Although the consequences are usually resolvable, not in the case of mediatek and our model.
To start, I highly recommend using Ubuntu linux off a flash drive running live, else I suggest using windows 7 (perhaps in a vm too) although it didn't work with me (mediatek driver issues) (users reported that it works fine with windows 10, set wifi connection as metered to prevent automatic driver updates)
Optional: Create a live Ubuntu (download the 64bit version!) stick using this tut: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows
After booting into Ubuntu, remove modemmanager by typing in terminal : sudo apt-get remove modemmanager
Hit y and continue...
Download folder list:
1)spflashtool from http://spflashtool.com/, "Linux 64-bit"
2)CWM(626g+)
3)Scatter file(626g+)
4)Stock cwm backup ~800MB
Link to Download: me1ga.nz/#F!t1A1HJQJ (rename to "mega")
Decryption key:
Code:
!teT23YQ_1PH52USChW3k6g
Google drive mirror folder: https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0BwgllNFqdXuQMXR0a29mZms2VDA/edit
Skip 1,2,3 for Windows users
Flash time:
1)Extract the zip in Home directory, open Terminal again then cd SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Linux_v5.1520.00.100 (tip: type cd SP then hit tab to autocomplete)
2)then: chmod +x *
3) last: sudo ./flash_tool.sh
4)Choose the scatter file and recovery img downloaded like in the pic (checkboxes too):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5)Make sure your phone is off, click Download then plug in the phone using a USB2 port...
6)CWM installed!
7)extract the stock cwm backup zip to sdcard in this following order of directory: clockworkmod/backup/(the extracted contents here)
8)Reboot the phone by hold Vol Down + Power then leave it, due to the issue it will enter cwm automatically
9)navigate to "backup and restore" and choose restore then the folder your copied (in date format)
10)reboot, dun! :highfive:
Big Credits and thanks to: https://www.facebook.com/htc626gplusdev/info/?tab=page_info , for custom recovery...
Hit thanks if this has helped you, would motivate me to update the links lol
Hi, this is to install the cwm recovery... Right? But how do i flash my phone with an HTC stock rom? Because i don't have a back up to restore my phone. And htc already has a default recovery. Can't i use that to flash my phone with the stock rom file? Maybe via adb sideload?

I think understanding the title of the thread would answer your question, no this is not "install the cwm recovery" it is required in order to restore stock ROM unofficially, there is no way around it to date, if you are afraid/don't trust the stock ROM backup I provided, then wait for HTC to release RUU and simply use fastboot to update (? mediatek)...
Follow the steps, I've provided everything, you don’t need a backup, download my backup etc...

sorry but the other two links are broken as well. i have the STOCK CWM.zip now
Hello again, I found the scatter file. But when you download and plug the USB, I get the following message.
PTM changed for ROM; it must be downloaded
Any help please? I read that this was solved by selecting all + download format rather than just download, but I have some fear in doing this.
Cheers

It 'should' work on windows, though at certain settings Windows updates the driver with incorrect version. I recomended Linux to avoid problems with drivers
