did you setup the wifi ? how about APN for 3G internet?
for WIFI
Settings - Wireless and network - WI-FI settings (see screenshoot)
for APN
Settings - Wireless and network - Mobile Networks - Access point names (here you need to create a APN (settings - New APN = here you need the provider settings)) see screenshoot

The "Use packet data" option exists in only 2.2, not in 2.1
As far as ur internet connectivity problems are concerned, I think BSNL requires around 72 hours to activate the 2G/3G services on any phone. So I assume ur net has started working by now!
On my last visit to India I used BSNL too and I remember that I had to buy a special recharge voucher in order to get the data service activated. It didn't work out of the box. Further the 3g settings were different from the standard ones that BSNL uses.

[Q] Proxy Settings - No mobile internet connection

Hi everybody!
I'm completely over-challenged with a problem that showed up a couple of weeks ago. After I went to a university in India to do some studies abroad my mobile Internet (2g, 3g, HSDPA) doesn't work anymore. To connect to the local wireless Internet at the University I had to enter a proxy setting. After I did that, the default browser asked for the username and the password which I entered as well. On wireless-lan everything worked just fine, but the mobile connection stop working only for the default browser and for downloads on market. Of course I cleared all browser data and reseted the proxy settings under network settings.
That means by now after I left India:
- Internet on wireless connection is working
- Internet on mobile connection is still not working on default browser and for downloads of market apps, but working for all other apps (g-maps, wapedia,..)
If someone has an idea to fix that, please tell me! I would really appreciate your help on this one!
Thx
Research the correct apn for your carrier.

Thank you for the quick answer!
I already checked the APN for my carrier, but everything is set right. Using the latest Cyanogenmod, there is already a APN-list with all the correct settings... mobile internet still won't work
I think there has to be something wrong deep inside of my Android-System...

[Q] I have a data connection but no phone service

My Galaxy S4 (I545 - Verizon) suddenly stopped accessing the internet outside a wi-fi connection. I can change the CDMA mode settings and get either phone service or a data connection, but not both. Help Please.

SM-G920T Mobile HotSpot Issue

Hi, I have Locked Samsung Galaxy S6 Sm-G920T(T-Mobile Firmware G920TUVU2COF6 ANDROID Version 5.1.1). But I am using it on metro pcs plan. Everything works perfect except Mobile HotSpot. The Mobile Hotspot turns ON without any issue, but no internet access on client device. But internet works fine in my phone, this problem comes up when phone uses 4G LTE connection.(I Can Ping mobile hotspot gateway 192.168.43.1 from my laptop and nothing beyond it).
But When i select WCDMA network only then Hotspot works fine with slow speed, but unable to access websites on phone. A 4G connection sign appears.
It is strange, there is something which blocks mobile hotspot to have internet access probably T-Mobile App.
Is there any way to overcome this problem? because i tried all possible ways, i cannot root my phone or Flash metrop pcs firmware because of 5.1.1. I tried to call metro pcs they did LINE reset but problem still persists.

New Huawei P10 - Hotspot / Tether not working... Help!!

OK, so it's a Vodafone upgrade, plenty of data avail, on contract, in UK, just cannot get these to work!!
Huawei to Windows 7 Laptop
Huawei to HTC ONE M9
Huawei to Samsung Galaxy S2
All say connected, but Internet is not getting to the tethered devices, P10 also says no data used whilst USB tethered or Hot Spotted!!
I follow the screen instructions to the letter, but as I say, they connect, but Internet just isn't there....
Pulling my hair out!! Help!!
Cheers
Karl
I don't know if you ever solved your problem, but I hit the exact same brick wall trying to get wifi tethering to work, hope this may help someone else.
My phone is Huawei P10 lite, and network also Vodafone.
I was able to narrow it down to an IP conflict issue: If I turn on wifi tethering I will lose internet on the phone and connected phones will also not have internet available, obviously.
I tried changing the APN settings (Mobile Network and select your APN in use, then EDIT) and use for normal connections and roaming both IPv4 and IPv6 (the default is only IPv4), and that allowed me to be able to use internet on my phone with tethering on; however connected phones still do not receive a valid IP and aren't able to connect to my internet.
I finally managed to share my internet, but only using bluetooth tethering, not wifi (using the settings I mentioned above).
BTW: Using the exact same SIM card, on another phone, I have no issues whatsoever setting up a wifi hotspot to others. This happens only with this combination (Huawei + Vodafone)
Reset your apn settings
Same issue here with two new p10s and Vodafone. So it seems a bug in the tethering subsystem since one of them work only if you tether via Bluetooth and the other one just fails to bridge the network via its hotspot. Wondering if anyone here has managed to report the issue to Huawei/Vodafone and what was the outcome and/or reference to do a follow up. Best regards
Ok, I've got it working on one of the phone (missus not around but it should fix in the same way).
All I needed to do was to reset the APN to it defaults as described in the Vodafone forum.
Settings -> Mobile Network -> Access Point Name -> Three dots (upper right hand side on the screen) you will find the "reset to defaults" and that's how I fixed it!
You legend - that totally saved me doing a factory reset for which I shall be eternally grateful. Well.. At least til next week.
