[Q] please help with mobile carrier string - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please help guys because i am at a loss here.
Initially i download a .xap that made my mobile carrier string in the registry from Tmobile USA to blank. I did this to get the prenodo update. That worked out well.
I then downloaded a .xap file that changed my mobile carrier string from blank to i believe '00-99' in order to get the nodo update. I was not able to get the nodo update using the timing method.
Now i would like to chnage that '00-99' back to the original Tmobile USA setting so that I dont have any problems getting updates designed for my carrier region in the future.
Please help me out here.
I would like to know how to do this or if somebody has distributed a .xap file that would be great too. Does anyone know what the original value for that registry entry was?
Thank you so much.

Would also like to know this.

i think i may have an idea of how to do this. i just need someone to tell me what is the original string set to for tmobile usa in the registry. someone's gotta know.
does resetting phone from bootloader and running htc connection setup reset this value?

Just found it, TMO-US

Yes, These are the exact steps

I made myself a XAP to rebrand my own phone back to TMO-US. I suppose for those who want it, I shall post the XAP. Just install and hit the green button to provision your device back to TMO-US.

Wizard BrandedBrowser.exe T-Mobile UK wanted

After changing my Dutch Vario to UK everything is working ok except the today plugin for T-Mobile. It looks as the shortcut for the T-Mobile option (The one that's warning your going online) is just calling the exe BrandedBrowser. After that nothing happens. Modifying the HTCtodayscreen.dll to change the shortcut also doesn't work. So I hope someone can post the original T-Mobile UK BrandedBrowser.exe.

here ya go tmobile uk brandedbrowser
hi, I also want to change my dutch version vario to english, is everything ok when i change it? thanks
thanks jimmy_boy for the UK BrandedBrowser.exe
I will giveit a try and see if I can change the default homepage from T-Mobile UK into the Dutch T-Mobile startpage.
Upgrading the Vario from Dutch to English was simple, just followed the instructions to CID unlock the device and then start the UK exe file. Toke about 20 minutes. I have the feeling that the English rom is a little bit faster. It now show 1.6.2.4 WWE instead of 1.6.2.2 NLD
Also patched the WLAN to connect at 54Mbps. So, I'm very happy with my Vario.

No probs nicodekker im pleased to help the HTC wizard community as much i can
Missing files
Hi.
I copied the file to my \windows directory and launched the file (in a non-T-mobile ROM) and I get the popup box that I am about to go online. I click OK and the box disappears but nothing happens. Do I also need to install the web'n'walk.cab and/or are there required registry entries?
Yes, I know have a TyTN and 8525 (I do have the T-mobile ROM for that phone but the result is the same). Is there something that is launching that T-mobile US does not recognize?

Appreciate that this is an old thread but in order to use the t-mobile brandedbrowser you need to add (or modify) 2 registry entries:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PIEPlug]
"WebStub"=dword:00000000
"home"="http://www.t-mobile-favourites.co.uk"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PIEBrowser]
"Path"="\Windows\BrandedBrowser.exe"
(change the UK www address to your own countries web address)
Working OK on my HTC Touch Dual.

Voicemail Button Thread

Since the new WM6 Update, noone seems to be able to chage the Number in the Speeddial Options.
For those with the 750v, using aother Provider it is a bad thing.
lets make a tutorial.
All that I know for my device (With official A1 German Rom - vanillaised) I can't get it working, cos the registryhack disapears.
any hints?
I unpacked the carrierDB File.
In the first .xml file, there are Registrysettings for the Voicemailbutton.
I don't know how to repack the carrierDB.PXP
I figured out, that I can change the Voicemail Number, if I use my Vodafone SIM.
When I use my t-Mobile SIM, I can do nothing.
I can't change it either. The registry hack from wm5 doesn't work.
It seems that it has to do with the sim card. The voicemail nr. it use is always my own phone number. Even when i change it, it will return to my phone number. In the sim manager app. you can change your own phone number and tryed it to change into the voicemail nr. but no luck. It keeps reading from my sim i guess.
Hope it gets solved with a hack.
Does anyone think, it is possible to get the carrierDB changed? It's in Rom and nothing (deleting, Ext_Rom deleting, renaming, change through a dummy) works.
Maybe, we have to wait until the official vanilla rom. But I need it in german.
Palm saiz, that the Treo "Pulls" the Voicemailnumber from the SIM. Maybe anyone has an Idea how the SIM-Card can be tuned to provide the right Number?

Mass Flash

Evenin' all.
Might be a long shot, and I think I walready know the answer but thought I would just double check quickly.
I have about 100 HTC TyTnII phones that are on windows mobile 6.1 and need be downgraded to windows mobile 6.0 due to incompatible software.
Each day i am also having to do the same with a small handful of other TyTnII phones.
I have flashed a load of them with no problems using USB. Yesterday i tried to use an SD card which also worked fine on a test phone that we use for development, but it wont work on phones arriving direct from the factory.
Im pretty certain that its because i ened to unlock the CID (???) or flash the SPL (???) but this is time consuming and tedious.
Is there anyway of doing this part using an SD card? If not, what is the fastest way to do it on the road or on site when i dont have access to my computer?
Any ideas that you can bounce at me would be appreciated, and also it would be a good help if you can verify if what i have said is correct.
Cheers guys.

Moved as not ROM Development.
As long as you use the original carrier ROM then CID won't be an issue.
Sorry about posting in the wrong place, was searching the forum for an answer and see a post in this area regarding a similar issue.
When you say original carrier ROM, do you meant the extaxt same rom that came with the phone, or a ROM from the same network provider ect?
They are English Orange WM6.1, so would I need any other English Orange WM6.0 rom? Or am i (probably) mistaken?
Your correct CID checks the vendor ID so you have Orange WM6.1 you will want Orange WM6 ROM as then vendor ID matches.
The other option is to just hard-spl them all wouldn't take long with laptop 5 mins each then you can bypass vendor ID check. "may be easier as don't know if Orange WM6 easily available?"
Would I be able to use WinRar to extract the NBH file from here and use that to flash the phone via SD Card without modifying or touching anything else on the phone?
RUU_Kaiser_ORANGE_UK_1.81.61.2_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.29R_Ship.exe
Just wondering if anyone has got any more info on this?

[Q] I want to edit reistry

like the title says i need to edit the registry for the bluetooth quality link
i need to know what steps i need to do this. i have mango and all the updates, i really dont want to install another rom really, unless there is something to gain that im not aware of. i have bootloader version 5.10.xxxx.
i have been mildly reading, but am tired cuz of finals week. so if anyone can help me out that would be great thankssssssssss.
ok i managed to downgrade and install hspl. now just waiting for intrinsic rom to dl. can anyone help me on how to change registry values.
direct download of TouchXperience's Registry Editor v1.2.0.0 -> here
note.
that registry edit will be included in the next release.
for some reason, it didn't cook in.
Well you just need a tool to "unlock" your registry.
First make sure that your phone is unlocked (any unlock should work)
I have the dev unlock myself.
[Edit] I have used the registry editor suggested above too, and that one works best atm.
Tried the one I linked above but it's not supported in Mango it appears.
