Being a fresh hand is no excuse for not reading the threads that are already here that clearly state it hasn't been done yet! Seriously, a little common sense would go a long way around here.

Hi,
currently it's only possible with hardware unlocking tools like XTC clips.
But the software update for this unlocking device which is needed to be able to unlock the IS hasn't been publicly released yet. Only some testers got the update and posted their success.
I don't know of any other tool that can unlock the IS at the moment.
If someone knows of another piece of hardware (except riff/jtag where you need to disassemble your IS) that can do that already, please post

even XTC clip can't do it at the moment because you haven't released the update
why not be a bit more "transparent" and let the community help. Release it as a beta with a use at your own risk warning..
Some people with sim locked phones will try it, post their success/failure and you would know if it worked or not.

When xtc clip supports IS I will buy one, beta or full version.

IF there's still no software root available when the XTC Clip update finally is available, I'll also buy one.
Switching to the IS from a rooted device, it feels so uncomfortable to suddenly being not able to use many features you were used to for so long..

I've placed an order for the XTC clip two days ago and I am waiting for the clip and the update

Which clip did you order? I see ones that are $600 and some that are $150.

You don´t need 50 succeded unlocked htc phones videos to proof that ur device is working, just release the update of ´`offing´` the incredible s and desire s b4 other tools do, then u will have more customers, we all read all the forums around and know what this tool can do and what not, so my advice is to release ´`at least as beta´`, and u will se how many will buy and test, that is not god for u and for the xtc as a product to release, when other solutions are released and tested, no sense for a paid product to release updates, when free solutions are storming here and there, even if they r more difficult to apply than the paid xtc-clip one.

Let's bug unrEVOked to give us 2.03 root for the Legend.

As it is the exact same method for the desire, evo aria & incredible, surely its the same for the legend?
Mod edit: XDA does not like spam. Nor sock puppet accounts.
Just got a reply from the unrevoked team that they need a htc legend to work on it. I suppose this problem arises due to the fact that legend is not available. If you need root ,they have to be provided with a handset to work with. Please check their twitter stream for more updates.

At least they are being fair to us...
unlike [email protected] who is totally ignoring our call.
If any of the NAM users out there can supply hardware , they say they can do it
tell him to go to a local store and say hes a reviewer form a website. they may give him a loaner for a few days or a week
Well its not that easy for reviewers as you say mate , you need to know which carrier in NAM is carrying the legend too
I guess my suggestion kind of sucked BUT!
If you checked out this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7229881&posted=1#post7229881 I did make a decent suggestion to wag3slav3

You should send the info you've gathered to unrevoked.com and see if they can give you some pointers and tips to help you out.
They said they'd try and get root but they don't have a legend to work with.
Maybe they could communicate with you and get something working?
Maybe even run some software that let's them use your comp via the web so they could technically use your legend but not have to be there?
Just a though but it could work

The whole virtual pc thing could work for anyone with a legend too I guess?
This is a route to root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725430
Just wondering if anyone has an update from unrEVOked on this?
How can we bug them?
You don't really need them to root it for you good sir. Check the sticky in the legend android development forum. if you have 1.32+ ROM version, you need to downgrade to 1.31 then root. simple as that. if you're running 1.31, just root.
Thanks Joeball88 - am aware of that method however the 'one click' unrEVOked sounds so much more appealing. Knowing me I'd screw up the downgrade method, let alone actually rooting the Legend!
Not afraid of giving it ago but afraid of not being able to restore my Legend should something go wrong (the Legend community is a little quiet and its not guaranteed I'd get help if I posted about my bricked Legend!)
I'm gonna close this. XDA does not like Spamming, nor sock puppet accounts.

Nexus One - Gold Card Question

Hi,
Does anyone know the security level of the free goldcard generator please? I am looking at removing the security lock from the Nexus One via the SIMLOCK menu.
Currently I am using a goldcard generated via the PSAS website, plus a config.dat and cid.txt file.
I get the following information on the display:
IMIE checking PASS!
Security checking....
Set security flag 0 fail !!!!
PASS!
SecurityLevel:1
Clear Network code
UnlockCode= REMOVED
Write Network Code Error
Now I am more than happy to stump up 30€ for PSAS as long as I know that their goldcard generator in the app does actually provided me with a SecurityLevel0 card... I did email them, but no response.
Regards
Thread moved to Q&A.
What the heck is a gold card for the Nexus One?
All Nexus Ones are sim unlocked, you can use any SIM card.
And the bootloader is unlocked simply by typing "fastboot oem unlock" in fastboot mode.
Hi,
Yep, your completely correct it is sim unlocked. However, myself and some on the guys on IRC in #modaco are looking at how to disable security (S-OFF), and one line of enquiry is using the goldcard.
One guy is disasembling the hboot, and noticed certain calls and conditions in the code. I used the free goldcard from PSAS's website, however I get SecurityLevel: 1 ... we need level 0.
Again, I beg for an answer to the question: WHY?
It has been proven time and time again that HTC will STILL warranty repair hardware defects for bootloader unlocked phones.
You guys are wasting massive amounts of time trying to do something completely irrelevant to anyone.
Yea but some people that rooted their phone and want to go back to stock want to also get rid of that stupid lock water mark I am one of those people and I don't have 529 dollars to do a warranty and don't have a spare phone to wait until mine comes back.

Have u figured out how to turn off the security yet
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Stop asking why please
I really wish people would stop asking "why would you want another way to unlock the nexus?" This slays me. Y does it even matter to you? R u upset that people are trying to get HD video out of the nexus? Are u upset that people are writing apps to allow wireless tethering even tho the capability is already built in??? If not, why be upset about this?
If people want to figure out a BETTER way to unlock these phones, let them. Yes, Google put this command (oemunlock) in the code and then secretly told someone over here about it. Awesome, so we have their way. But it voids the warranty. So what if HTC still honors it? They don't HAVE to.
I have disliked the oemunlock method of unlocking ever since it came out. It was nice to have root so soon, but it stifled creativity on here IMO. I'm glad there is another way for ATT and tmobile users already.
I, for one, am glad these guys are working on this here.
Well to keep you guys up to date. We have found that the goldcards even created with the paid version of PSAS for the Nexus One, give security level 1, not 0. So a lot now is in the hands of the PSAS guys, we have brought this to their attention and hopefully they will have a fix.
To the people questioning the reasons why we would even continue:
1) Simply, why not !!
2) We also wish to get CID 11111111, which completely removes all restrictions
3) Obviously the removal of the padlock. I personal use 100% offical ROM's, but as my handset is an EU model, was forced to unlock to break free of VF ROM(s).
4) The final outcome is highly likely to help HTC Desire owners too.
If anyone wants to make a donation to PSAS, however small (I made one of 15€) as without their goldcard page, reverse engineering and software, there would likely be no resolution to security unlocking on many handsets. Just browse around to see how many people are creating free goldcards... bunging them 5€ or something nominal like that via PayPal is the more than decent thing to do.
Please guys, chip in if you can
http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard
You will see the donate button there.
I donated 25

Here is how to get NoDo and still able to SIDE LOADS APPS and GAMES

PEACE!!! ALL.
Here is a hack that fill force you to get NoDo Update OS:7.0.7390.0.
This Works For ALL Device / Phones.
This Is Not My Hack - Just Thought To Share It Here For ALL.
http://www.wpcentral.com/easy-hack-forces-nodo-update (Thanks To Daniel Rubino)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=101513 (Thanks To Noticed)
To benefit from this hack, be sure that you have Jail Break your phone with Chevron and also use the HACK that PREVENT the phone from RE-LOCKING when you CONNECT to ZUNE.
One good thing about this HACK is that, if you have done the CHEVRON & the PREVENT RELOCKING, you then following the INSTRUCTIONS above, you will end up getting the NoDo Update OS:7.0.7390.0 and still be able to side-loads APPS and GAMES.
PEACE!!!
I still can't believe this works XD

Well rumour has it the the guys behind chevron are working on a new unlock method and this time they are working with M$ so when it's released it will be more official however my hunch is this unlock method may not be released anytime soon as there is couple more updates due from M$ including the major one Mango ETA Nov 2011!
So for the short-term this is the best method I'm afraid.

I Respect the fact you don't wish to share your alternative unlock method and frankly speaking it's of no relevance now as this method works a treat!

I'm convinced AT&T will not let them unlock it no matter what. Some think it has to do with tethering. No root = no tethering = better for AT&T.
According to my contact at HTC, the whole issue is that HTCDEV.com is a 'sign up for' deal. Basically AT&T hasnt been specifically lying when they say ' we didnt ask them to lock it ', its more, 'we didnt say OK to them unlocking it'....
We need to beat up the bastards at AT&T. I want a copy of that damn agreement they have, since it would show that AT&T has been specifically manipulating the public with fake statements.

I want it too.
Also, I heard that when you use HTCDev, if it works or not, they void your warranty. Is this true? I honestly doubt it's LEGAL to void your warranty if your bootloader is locked.. if this is true, **** HTC forever, and hi Samsung.
I went to it and summited it and then hit the back button summited it again like 100 times already lol I will keep on too don't know if it does anything but if it does all they will see for hundreds of comments is

I think they have more on their mind like why they lost 30% market value last quarter.
I say like the phone for what it is, go figure out how to root it yourself, or just buy a samsung.
This is it vivid is gone! !!

I must say, the longer I have this phone the more I like it, much more than the samsung, this is a nice piece of hardware

i'm new to htcdev and this is probably a stupid question but they have instructions for unlocking the boot loader on phones, does it just not work on the Vivid?
No... when you try to go through the unlock process at the very end you receive the following message: error 170: CID is not allowed

S-OFF

Has anyone read this article: http://androidspin.com/2013/05/01/htc-one-s-off-achieved-htc-users-can-now-rejoice-as-well/
how long do you think until this is possible for all end users?
Firstly, this is posted in the wrong section. Don't post in this section of the forum.
Secondly, this is old news.
Third, you have to pay for them to open up your device and s-off it. As the article says, if you pay for s-off, you dont deserve it.
Sent from my HTC One
Sounds like JTAG
thats been posted before i dont think it will help devs here as thats been done via jtag
It's my understanding that S-Off is an unneeded feature as far as this community goes. It only allows one to flash unsigned things that the developers here don't work on, such as radios. A regular bootloader unlock is all that's needed for the huge majority.
I would still like S-off just bc the freedom of flashing whatever RUU we want. considering AT&T is still non existent which is ridiculous . but hell no I would not open up my phone to get it. if that's the kind of Jtag there talking about... it will come in time I am sure
I'm sorry for posting in the wrong area & was not aware that this is old news, as i only recently aquired my HTC ONE and was not up to scratch with what was happening!

I don't know, the latest jumponitbear for HTC phones have depended on a "wire trick", where one took off the battery cover and shorted two wires together at the same time as running the software hack. Since our One is a fixed battery, we may never see S-Off.
