Screen sensitivity on IS - HTC Incredible S

Hi,
While reading IS review on pocketnow.com I've found them saying that the screen sensitivity on IS is not good. But I'm interested and with others opinions from actual owners of IS. Thanks.

I think it's very responsive myself. The only problem I've had in that regard is that I have to press down for a split-second before I swipe down to unlock the screen, otherwise it doesn't respond properly - but I've seen this on other Sense-based phones too.

Perhaps the reviewers were on some kind of experimental drug.. i don't know.. i am too.. but, anyway. the screen sensitivity is just great. Have been using the IS for about three weeks now. Not one hick-up, restart, freeze what so ever.
it has been flying fast all the time.

If anything IMHO its a little over sensitive, sometimes it feels like I don't actually have to make physical contact before the IS makes the action.

I have to agree with you, the response time is instant, i haven't rebooted the phone since i started using it. roughly been 3 weeks 2 days uptime.
Although i sometimes hear an echo on my end but when i ask the person on the other end abt the quality of the sound they all say its crystal clear :S

Yes, definately also something I have noticed! This never happened with my Legend, so the screen of the IS must be more sensitive!

Ive noticed this and Ive been trying to figure out what it is. Swiping between home screens is slower than on my Legend and it takes a more firm/resolute (I have to overerly excagerate the finger movement) to get it to move sometimes. It starts moving, but then it stops.
Ive got a small metal piece stuck between screen and phone body, so this might affect my device. Read own post on the matter http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021486

This is exactly what I have noticed. You might could say, it's just too sensitiv.

I haven't had any sensitivity issues - so far so good

I have a mate who got this phone & he is having issues with applications opening without him touching the screen he just has to put his finger about 2mm from screen & they open eg messages/camera etc.
Anyone else having this problem ?
Is there a setting he can change to fix this sensitivity issue especially as he has moved from an old Nokia non smartphone ?

Yup mine is like this too.

lol. seriously, the guys who reviewed must have been smoking something really good
or they were plain prejudiced or paid to say so.
i would dare say this is the best touch screen i have ever used.
the sensitivity is just great... feels good to touch!

Same sensitivity as my desire... better than my galaxy s 4g...

Yeah, these Gadget specific forums tend to get more negative comments... and newbies reading these forums get the wrong idea, alltough I believe 99% of the users are extra happy with their devices...
I just upgraded to Panosha Shine On 0.9 Light ROM and Radio v1.00.25.05... bunch of tweaks found here at XDA and the jewel is AWESOME...
So Here's my hand!!

Yes, another big hand up here. The Diamond is an amazing phone. Usually I loose interest for a new gadget after a couple of weeks. Now, after a bit more than a month, I'm still very happy with my Diamond. It runs smooth... (using SwiftBlade's latest rom (v5) and some XDA tweaks)
more than happy

As much as I researched, and badmouthed the iphone.. and bought a htc diamond. I actually tried an iphone yesterday and was blown away by the interface. The touch screen is so much more sensitive, you dont need to apply any pressure. I have noticed on my diamond i have to apply more pressure in the corners than the middle of the screen.. it gets annoying. As much as I hate to say it I am starting to regret my decision to be anti-apple. I am running elite 3 rom with spb mobile shell, and yes it is smooth.. but it is nowhere near as smooth as the iphone.

Why should i move to an iphone forum when i own a htc diamond? You dont understand how much I hated the idea of the iphone... I convinced many people not to get one, I also have a huge list of reasons not to get one. My point is yes I thought my diamond was running smooth as silk, then I tried the iphone which i hated so much.. and THAT really is smooth as silk, now when I use my diamond it feels sluggish in comparison. I think a lot of the people saying their diamond is smooth havn't tried an iphone. I still prefer the diamond because it can run background processes, mind you.
Theres no need to be a ****, post count dosnt mean anything. Maybe you should take some lessons in grammar if you're going to accuse people of not being able to read.

please help I'm about to buy X1 ?

hi all
i want help please from the experts , i have some questions about the X1 ,
1- is there is any differences between the silver and the black color in the speed issues or any other difference ?
2- upgrading to wm6.5 with pure rom has any drawbacks like battery runs out so quick or makes the phone slower ?
3- is the sliding mechanism still stable after usage long time ?
4- the loud speaker volume is it loud enough ?
while i'm browsing the forums i found a lot of problems that the xperia's owners face , like cam stop working , the phone not boot , screen stop working , is this a reason of something like careless in usage or flashing the rom or any other reason ?
all of this reasons push the fair on me before i but the X1 , please experts i need help from you to reassure me b4 i buy it , especially the speed of the phone because has a lot of complains about the speed and response of the phone .
thank you waiting your soonest reply

1. There are no differences in speed in regards to color.
2. I haven't used the Pure Rom.
3. The sliding mechanism is the best I have ever seen, felt, and used.
4. The Loud Speaker Volume is not loud enough in public places of with the television on. Not suggested for music playback.
No, I have not faced these problems on my X1
Yes, the phone is extremely slow for a Windows Mobile device.
Also, there are more problems that you should be aware of. After a long span of use, the device will show cracks and lose it's paint. Second, the keyboard will lose it's sensitivity within 2 years (phones are suppose to maintain a functional keyboard forever).

Thirded. Ultimately the only major problem I haven't been able to solve either through Sony repair or tweaking is the sluggishness of the phone. I would say that I now have a phone that does nearly everything I want, but it's fairly slow. I also wish the camera and video recording were better, but they are better than what you might expect on a WM phone, I guess.

Question???

If we can How can we increase the sensitivity of the touch screen on our androided vogue???
IDK if the debate ever got finished but some said that when calibrating the screen to touch it as lightly as possible....thus calibrating the sensitivity as well as the X-Y coordinates.
It might not be true, I'll let others correct me if I am mistaken.
I know there are more technical ways of doing it, so hopefully someone will chime in with that also...

Hate to burst your bubble but it seems your just taking a suger pill. I tried first pushing hard on the dots then testing by lightly running my finger over it, worked fine. Then I pushed on the dots as lightly as i could, then did the same test, pressing as lightly as i did before, same result, no change.

Yeah that was the discussion I mentioned before. We were wondering if it was just placebo...
It's so hard to quantify, but when I first flashed Android I thought it needed very hard presses......and I was calibrating the screen with a solid press of the stylus. Then I did it lightly and I thought it was very different.

I'm guessing placebo, theres a 'test mode' in the calibration app. It reports 0 for pressure, if you touch the screen it reports 1. Nothing in between... unless someone can disagree based on the code.
Placebo is powerful medicine... so if it works for you, use it.
That is the truth behind placebo effect. You can question whether something has an actual effect, but you can't question placebo effect because it worked. Just like the debate it is tail chasing. If you found it helps use it... if you need absolute proof what you did had an effect you can measure with statistically significant accuracy, give it up.
As far as I know the calibration tool only does coordinates, it doesn't detect sensitivity.

[Q] [POLL] Is anyone having touchscreen issues with their O2X's?

Sometimes when I'm tapping certain icons at certain times I will have to tap twice becuase the first time it didn't recognize my tap. Sometimes even multiple times. But other times my phone will run as smooth as butter. Hardware or software issue?
Same issues ...
I have the same issues.
This issue occurs often after I unlock my Phone and also during use.
In my opinion that's not acceptable!
How did you act?
Did you send it in?
Pet hate: "Smooth as butter" ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
And relax.
Yes, sometimes it doesn't recognise it. Even sometimes it will actually highlight the icon, so it's recognised I've pressed, but then done nothing with the action.
I would say software issue.

I returned my phone because it was driving me insane.. but yes it's probably a software issue. I bought a Nexus S from google, and it's better, but sometimes it still happens on my NS, however much less often then on my O2X. But i would say just try using a different kernel or rom. CM7 still had the touchscreen issue. So that's why I kind of gave up on this phone.

Hi, i personally dont think this is a problem with our touch screens, i have it happen to me when unlocking the phone etc, but i think its because we try to tap an icon to quickly before we give the phone chance to fully unlock, i've noticed if i wait just a second or 2 after unlocking it doesnt happen, i think its lack of ram in the o2x, it not quite fast enough for our speedy fingers, lol.

Display jello/wavy effect when scrolling!

Noticed this as soon as I setup the phone. I don't think I've ever seen an AMOLED panel do this. It's almost like it's refreshing each line of pixels too slowly/unevenly during a single frame?
Here's an album of images and video captured from 240 FPS video. View them one after another. The screen refreshes by starting in the bottom left corner and finishes the frame in the top right corner... the icons and text on each line of apps goes out of alignment as I scroll.
Text and elements on the screen stretches out when scrolling down, and smushes together when scrolling up. Straight lines look wavy when scrolling left or right as well!

Hopefully software since it's the same panel as the 3T. I don't think it's vsync, because if that were disabled it'd result in tearing. I really have no idea what's going on.
On the up side, an assistant head moderator on the OnePlus forums forwarded this information to the developers... other people are complaining about this same issue there as well!

Same here. It seems to be a Software issue
---------- Post added at 17:04 ---------- Previous post was at 16:38 ----------
To be Precise the upper part of the screen reacts slower. The thing that makes me nervous is that it's the same Spot when using horizontal.
Anyone can check if this issue is also when scrolling in twrp, if yes it's a Firmware issue or even Hardware.
If this was a Software issue we would see a Glitch while scrolling but it's a smooth Jello effect
I've did couple of Tests. And it seems it's the screen itself and not the Software. As recording the screen with an App will not show the issue. I hope it can be fixed with a Firmware Update.
We need an Update for the amoled screen driver.
Thank god I'm not the only one noticing that straight away. It pretty much ruined my experience since I got this phone. At first a thought its just me beeing OCD again and checking the screen for failures far too often.
It's hard to not see it when scrolling and it is very irritating!
Like a Jello / Wobble / Warping effect.
This needs to be addressed asap! If I Google this issue, it comes up a thread on OnePlus forums "The first thing I did when I got my OnePlus 5, I immediately installed the ... screen starts moving before the top half, giving a "jello" effect when ..".If I click on it, it says "OnePlus Forums - Error
The requested thread could not be found".
Seems like they removed the thread?
If the issue isn't getting worse when underclocking cpu&gpu with Ex kernel it's sure no Software issue. Then it's rather Hardware or Firmware (Panel driver)
But I simply can't imagine an amoled screen having such a Hardware issue.

It's the same panel (better say a variant of the panel), but what people don't know is that it seems it's mounted inverted on the OP5. So this wobbly effect seems to manifest more because of this condition.
I noticed this when evaluating some stuff on the source code I could backport to the 3T.
Let's hope it's just a weird overlay panel calibration or something similar and not a processing issue from design choices.
Only time will tell.

Problem is that time is limited due to the 15 days return period
Oh my.... I'm not experiencing anything like this... I'm sorry guys :/
EDIT: I have this effect also, but very minor. The 15-day return starts on delivery, or on ordering date? (So if i ordered the phone on the June 21st, this return thing will expire at July 6th?)

Exactly i can't take that chance they may or may not fix this issue or are they just going to sweep it under the carpet and pretend no one noticed, One thing is for sure if i decide to keep it and they don't resolve this awful screen latency, scrolling, stuttering lag this will be my 1st and last OP phone, it shouldn't have even come to market with this issue.
The panel is mounted inverted?! WTH?! The OP5 will be the new OP2 at this rate.
oh my.... i receive mine today in possibly a few minutes.... U people are making me more and more regretting buying this thing.....

I know! It's getting worse every second I'm on this forum... I wonder if maybe this is a batch set thing or if this is a region thing. I haven't read through the whole thing. But, if my screen has a weird effect like this which I will now watch for, I'll report it here.
****s gonna hit the fan when most people will be receiving them this and next week, hope they've fixed it by then before their customer support has a meltdown.
