[APP] Membrain Recorder-[R]-04/04/11-[V]-0.9 (BETA) - Windows Phone 7 Apps and Games

Name: Membrain Audio Recorder
Description:
Hey guys, this is my first foray into Windows Phone app development. This program originally debuted at the PennApps Mobile competition at the University of Pennsylvania. A lot of people thought it was a very neat concept so my partner and I decided to put it on the marketplace in case anybody finds it useful.
Membrain is a “smart” audio recorder application which only saves what you want it to hear. It offers two main advantages to the competition: the addition of a "set and forget" mode, and the ability to sync your files to your Dropbox account.
Membrain works by taking calibrating to the ambient audio level and only recording when it detects noise above that threshold. It’s perfect for times when you don’t have the ability to repeatedly press the stop and record button. For example, just set it before you go to bed, place your phone next to your bed, and listen to anything you said in your sleep the next morning!
Even better: if you ever need to move these recordings from off your phone, Dropbox integration is provided for uploading your recordings.
To use it, simply press the "listen" button (the ear) and let the program calibrate to the current noise level. Then, press the listen button again and you're good to go. There will be a red circle next to the volume bar if the noise level goes above the threshold to indicate that the app is currently recording. Hit stop when you want the listening to end. If you upload a file and don't find it in your dropbox account folder, try pressing the button again (we're currently working to track down why this happens).

Thanks for the heads up bennyj71. The link was working last night but it seems like there's something going on with our app listing in the marketplace. I'm going to see if I can fix it, but in the meantime, if you search "membrain app" on your phone, it should be the first result that comes up.

I got it. Tried the app last night. Doesn't seem to work under lock screen though.

Thanks for the feedback benny. I just tested the app and unfortunately I can't seem to reproduce your issue. If it's not too much trouble, could you describe how you noticed the recording under the lock screen wasn't working, and what kind of phone do you have?
Thank you!

I started recording. The screen timed out. I kept talking. Once I finished I turned on the screen. When I replayed the recording, nothing I said when the screen timed out was recorded. I've tried three other recording apps. They had this issue as well, it was fixed in various updates.

Thanks so much for the info! Yep, I had the exact same issue when I let the screen timeout. In addition to fixing the dropbox indicator, I'll tackle this problem for the next update. In the meantime, if you manually hit the "lock screen" button, the recorder should stay active.
(PS: Sorry for the late response, was at a hackathon this weekend and didn't have much time to check the boards.)

No Problem. I'll try the lock screen.

Hmm like the idea ... any app like this for WM 6.5.x?

Love the look of this app, shame i use android...

Downloaded this yesterday. Recorded fine, but can't upload to DropBox. The app says it's logged in to DropBox OK. When uploading, the progress bar flashes up very briefly and nothing appears in DropBox. Checked in the DropBox site and Membrain is appearing as a fully authorised app. Any ideas?!?!
Could do with getting this file off the phone somehow :s

great stopwatch/countdown timer program

hey guys, i've been looking for a stopwatch/timer program for my tilt for a while, and finally found a great free program.

Thanks, ive also been looking for something like this so i can use it to count down my time left on my Tacho.
Problem is, when its done, the alarm is too quiet. Would you be able to ask on the forum if he could make a configurable alarm sound so i could choose my own sound for example.
Also if you could make the count down time in full screen would be great.
Obviously all this is if you get the chance. Dont worry if you dont
Thanks for posting though, still useful.

I found if you hold stylus on the white part you get a menu that pops up. It allows you to set the stopwatch color (of the digits) and change the alarm. Those it seems the alarm sound has to be a windows media format. the only other option I had from my device was the dogbark file.
It limited but something.
Any chance on getting a screenshot of this app at all?

just thought I'd mention, it's a nice looking App, but doesn't wake the device from standby, works well though.
Paul
Thank you very much.
StopTime
I'll put a shout out for StopTime!
http://home.comcast.net/~jonsachs/#StopTime 2.0
It's free, and you can use any sound you want for the alarm (I think)
Has anyone used this successfully? DOES IT wake up the device when it is off?
Finally, the first post leads to a page that doesn't exist. Is this the same as Jonathan Sach's StopTime?
SPBTime is great!!! Try it.

Me. I use WM 6.1 with this soft flawlessly. It keeps counting properly after Off-on or Sleep-on.
I'm looking for something where I can configure an alarm every 30 seconds or so. Anyone know of anything, I want functionality similar to the stopwatch Timer '08 for my Mac.
problems with Stopwatch
I downloaded the Stopwatch cab to my Fuze and found several problems.
1. It only goes to the second. Not much use for timing laps on the track, etc.
2. The Start/Stop button was partially covered by the Reset button.

Cool apps. Thanks!
has anyone seen something similar that also sits on the today screen?
I'm off on a holiday in 3 months and want to know how many days till I go just by looking at my phone (without opening a program hence the today screen) I have searched the forums for a few weeks but haven't found anything yet (but that could just be my searching technique!!).
ideally to fit WVGA screen size
cheers

I also posted here..

and my query has been resolved.

Snooze in alarm can this be modded

Hi Guys,
Anyone know if the snooze menu can be modified, i would like to have just one sooze time so the the soft key works as the snooze rather than bring up a menu of times, sometimes select the wrong snooze setting with my fat fingers
Thanks
Matt
Would be such a good idea. Handling menu's while half asleep is very difficult
Tell me about it, its all i can do to find the phone, let alone deal with a menu, could this be one for the reg edit hackers????
What about........
I happened to spot a post on another site about a little freeware alarm program called SpoonAlarm that allows you to do lots of things with alarms, including setting the number of snoozes....and apparently, it's all with a finger-friendly interface I've not tried it myself, but I plan to as the WM6 built in alarm stuff is ****e so anything's gotta be an improvement, right?
Anyway, you can download SpoonAlarm from this page - I'm not gonna post it here without getting the author's permission first.
Enjoy!
Mark.

From the screen grabs I can't see an improved "Snooze" button. Essentially what is needed: when the alarm goes off the entire screen should turn into a snooze button, and the soft keys should allow you to turn it off. That way you can't miss it when your dozing.
I use SPB Time for my alarms. When your alarm goes you get 2 big buttons in your screen. One is snooze for 5 minutes(Green button) the other one is disable alarm (red button).

I've tried all the alarm apps this week, ptravelalarm, spb time, & spoonalarm.
ptravelalarm works great but it's just so damn ugly. If they could add skins I would go back to it.
spoonalarm is free but it doesn't allow for multi day repeat alarms. In other words, you have to set an alarm for each day of the week, instaed of just saying include all work days.
spb time so far is the best I've used and still have it loaded on my Tilt now. It does cost a couple of bucks but works better then the OS alarm and you can set SPB TIme to play MP3s as well.
SpoonAlarm
Thank you for trying the SpoonAlarm.
In couple of days I will be releasing a newer version of the tool and it will also include the following:
- Countdown clock
- Recuring alarms (upon configuration of course)
If you have any additional suggestions I would be happy to hear!
Visit my website to get more updates:

Everytime I go to the site or try to download I get this:
"Webhost4life Application Firewall Alert
Your request triggered an alert! If you feel that you have received this page in error, please contact the administrator of this web site."
How do you contact the administrator of the site if you cant access it?
Can I made with "The SpoonAlarm" more as one alarmtime? Or I can only made one alarmtime?
How does one completely remove SpoonAlarm?
I tried it out. Then went to remove programs and removed it, but before removing it I had my alarm that was set to snooze 3 times and... the alarm still went off and launched WMplayer but the dialog box said it couldn't find the program. Is there some file that still lurks somewhere? Even after a soft reset it still happened.

VirtualSheep - Make use of your G1 screen when it's plugged in.

VirtualSheep - Let your Android Dream!
VirtualSheep is an Android application that replaces the boring blank screen you see when your Android is plugged in. With VirtualSheep, whenever you plug your Android into the wall or the computer, you get a dynamic slideshow of photos from Flickr (no Flickr account necessary). If you have your own Flickr account, you can see a slideshow of your own photos!
In addition to the ever-changing slideshow, you can watch live news feeds from Google News and link to them by touching the news title.
VirtualSheep is great for people who leave their phone plugged in while at work, school or at home!
Plug it in, and the slideshow begins. Unplug and it ends. It's that easy!
Click here from your Android to find VirtualSheep in the Android Market:
Click this from your Android
or click here from your computer:

sounds cool, but not able to access the application via your provided links. i dont have, nor intend to use flicker, but the newsfeed thing could have been interesting
I double checked the links - they're correct.
The market is sometimes weird with the search function. It seems like it depends which server you hit when you search.
If you can't find the app with the search, by clicking the link I posted, you can find it manually under the Multimedia section.
Sorry for the inconvenience. If there was something I could do, I would.

That's a pretty good idea. Right now this one shows the time on the screen (next to the RSS feeds), but no alarm.
I'll add it to the list of feature requests.
I bought this app right after reading this page. Cool idea for a screensaver app
I hope I don't show my age bringing up screen burn. LOL Ok, so maybe not screen burn per se, but maybe screen burn-out. Is it bad to have your screen on all night like this? That's what I don't get about all these alarm clock apps --- it can't be good to have the screen on and showing numbers and photos all night.
Version 1.0.5.
- Added option to set your own RSS feed Url. Now you aren't limited to just Google News!
- Added an option to turn off the slideshow - for people who want the news without the distraction of the pictures.

The devices have a setting straight from the factory that makes them keep the screen on when plugged in. I think it's ok if Google ships them with that setting.
I hear you, though. By default, VirtualSheep keeps the screen at the dimmer backlight setting. There is an option to use the full brightness, though.

Louder Volume Hack V2.2 COMPLETED!!!!

L.V.H v2.2 is FULLY COMPLETE and on the market!!!
Many improvements from v2.1 with many added features. Such as...
* All files now include the fix for Sapphire and Donut.
* Now includes Old versions 1, 2 and 3.
* Now includes the option to push the Headset Boost
* A few other additions, such as the refresh, kill media, reboot and exit buttons.
* Coding much improved with less issues (hopefully)
* Now displays which version is currently installed on the phone.
* File names changed in DDMS so they can be tracked that way.
* Completely new 'Hero-y' GUI, designed by me

H, [top left] - Help Menu
L, [top Right] - Change Log
Versions - You can probably guess
Yellow Text - Tells you which version you are currently running, or which you've selected.
Refresh - Refreshes the Text. If it says 'V2 selected', for example, pressing this will change it back to show which version you are currently running.
Restart Media - Button to restart the mediaserver manually. Not really needed, but might come in useful.
Reboot - Reboots phone
Exit - Exits the application
Make and Restore Backup - Does what it says on the tin
Push - Go to...
...Push Menu!
Yes - Pushes selected version WITH the Headset Boost
No - Pushes selected version WITHOUT the Headset Boost
Cancel - Returns to the main screen.
App is available on the android market, is currently at version 2.2, and costs £1.50.
I am also planning to create a 'lite' version which will have limited functionality, if i have the time!
Check my signature for a link to the cyrket page!
great cant wait whats the eta i love your app
Should be done within the next few days, tomorrow if i get my act together
Had a day off from uni today so i got all the coding, GUI and everything else pretty much done. There's a few bugs to iron out, like the reboot button not responding correctly and there's a problem with pushing the files when the headsets plugged in thats a bit irritating and i can't seem to fix, but other than that everything's fully completed
cool dont rush it man you do an awesome job
Thanks to your app my phone is louder than my friends T-Mo HTC Touch Pro2's speaker mode, awesome!
V2.2 is completely finished!!
Currently testing for any major bugs that may be present, so if you wish to test (and ultimately receive a free copy ) please contact me.
Please note, not everyone will be chosen to test the app as i've had a lot of requests.
Cool.
Is an EQ app still on the horizon ? You said you were going on Vacay when I asked. Didnt follow up much so not sure if it was bypassed.
Sort of/maybe. it depends if we can get the new labeled audiopara working properly
And it's on the market now people, go download
love the new version, it seems like the headset booster even works over bluetooth. I did find one bug that most people probably wont even notice because i wouldnt have if i didnt have my keyboard open when I opened the app. If you slide open the screen the welcome message will pop up again and also a message saying "all back ups have been made successfully and then another message saying "app refreshed". It will keep happening every time you open and close the screen. Not a major bug but figured I would let you know. Keep up the great work!

i prefer the old logo, it looked nice next to my 2012 end of the world app ..had a good color combo.
Just bought version 1.7 from Marketplace. a couple things are kind of confusing. Maybe I don't know how to use it yet.
1. I thought this version has live tile, but I don't see it is live.
2. there is check soft button 'check' at bottom, not sure how to use it.
3. Not sure how to use Categories tab, is it just for subscriptions? I didn't subscribe anything, maybe that is why?
A suggestion:
in Favorites tab, wish it has similiar functions as in 'My Download' so we can do batch download or stream.
Anyway, this is the best youtube app I've ever seen.
Very good job.
Hi,
I would like to answer your questions.
-1. I thought this version has live tile, but I don't see it is live.
We just updated logo and Live Tile ICON in this version.
-2. there is check soft button 'check' at bottom, not sure how to use it.
If you have unfinished downloading progress, you can click on the 'check' button. You could continue to download the rest part; Or stop your downloading progress; Or delete unfinished downloading. This button can help you to switch to download management page.
-3. Not sure how to use Categories tab, is it just for subscriptions? I didn't subscribe anything, maybe that is why?
Please select a category first, and then slide to 'hot video' page, you would see the change.
If you have more questions, please send us the email via [email protected].

Thank you so much for your prompt reply! I have no more questions.
Works great!
Just 2 cents from me, maybe makingno sense
1. A softbutton for checking DL, looks this app very much focus downloading video. Not sure about others, I don't use it very much, but understood it is the sale point. As a YouTube app, a check button it is little too much, or it should be in My Download Tab.
2. Category is not so intuitive, in hot video, we could have a button for this purpose. Otherwise, it should broowse through the content for the selected cateegory.
I justLOOOOOVE that finaly the tile follows coulor scheme. Logos can always get better and latest is the best one so far. But it can always improve, because a clear logo mixed with the youtube logo gives a clearer what app it realy is. But oncr again, great tile, love it. And thnx for the ever ongoing improvments. Its gona take a miracle for the officiall app to even get close to super tube. So even if Mango comes ... The purpous of SuperTube was spot on in what your idea was. And great ideas survives competition. Just the ever coming improvments shows me that i can rely on your products and that you guys will have a strong app when Mango comes, and when users starts rolling in for real, your rep is gone serve you great. All that gets WP7 i recommen ST to and like most other app, i have no bad feelings at all doing it.
Keep up your work, this is great work, and if you keep developing like thid, and in this pace. You are gone be a killer.
Thanks for the update
thank for the update
We hope everybody likes the new logo and live tile icon.
Yes! Big thanks for you work!
