Android Battery Saving Tips!
I have noticed that alot of Android users are always complaining about battery life. Yes its one of the major downfalls when it comes to the Android OS. One of the main reasons for this issue is that the OS has so much running in the background. Such as Sense updates, Push notifications, Facebook, and other applications that have to run in the back. Why you may ask, well cause Android is about getting things fast to the consumer. In may return drained battery life.
So here is a few tips on how to make your day go longer without running for a charger!
If your out and about and not under WIFI all day, turn your 3G or 4G off and use 2G. You will still get all emails and tweets but less Data use and Network searching. The Network searching is the main thing that drains battery. It searches and searches till it has the best connection. Sleep or awake.
Another great tip is to let battery drain till phone turns off! Then leave it off and charge for two hours or more. This is a battery learn procedure. If you do this two times a week or so, your battery will have longer life.
Last tip:
If your not using a application just uninstall it. Alot of apps sometimes run in the background without you even using it. You can verify this in your settings. (Menu,Settings,Applications, and Running Services.).

I am doing good. I hope to get this thread ready sometime this week or at least started.

I do believe the openzio guys already have a similar thread called sysctl something.

He is not being a troll he was just stating a fact that we have a similar thread for this that pertains to both phones. So this thread is quite useless as it sits, and IMO does need to be deleted. And the fact that you are soliciting your website on here doesn't help your case either....just saying.

Thank you fate. If only I were a moderator.... hmmm.

Ya probably b/c this forum wasn't created until about a month and a half ago, And the fact that there is still no source code released for this device, that makes it somewhat difficult to make any significant modifications to the phone.
Anyway here is the thread I referred to in my last post.

Lets keep it relevant here please..

I'm not gonna you any more of a hard time, but my point is the fact that we have already started a thread with some of these same findings, and so far your findings are not relevant to any special Sprint only modifications, We have link2sd, we have sysctl settings tweaked... So what tweaks are you talking about that is so special on the Sprint ZIO that you cannot already do on the cricKet ZIO?

Bamf sense 3.0 pr-4

I thought we could get a thread going for this Awesome ROM since most of the info on it is mixed in with BAMF GingerSense 2.0-5. I have been using BAMF Sense 3.0 pr4 for the past day and love it, and I'd like to hear what others think as well.

Oh, no I didnt. I didnt know I had to, im sorry guys. I figured since it was being linked in other threads, that there could be a thread that was just for discussion on it.

able to be used as a daily driver?
or something just to play with at this point?
I have found it to be a good daily driver. I mean, I dont do all kinds of crazy stuff with my phone media wise right now. I make calls, text, surf web, email, facebook, etc. So I havent used it for gaming, taking lots of pics or videos, or doing anything of that nature. I do use that stuff, but havent needed to in the past couple days of having this preview. I have great charging time, and good battery life. I have also had zero reboots or anything of that nature. So, so far to me, it has been great. Ive had no problems. As far as testing EVERYTHING out, I havent bc Im just trying to stay the course and keep having good performance. I dont want to mess a good thing up. But when the real deal finished ROM is released, I'll be going nuts with it.

Been using as a daily driver from pr3, now on pr4. Had to switch the camera apk, now no real issues other than a few very minor sizing issues.

I too am loving this ROM. Because I do not post much I cannot post in the Dev thread, but I do want to show my support for this. I really do not know why HTC doesn't hire these guys to make this phone what it should be.
My only issues were replacing the camera, and the desk dock app does not work. This really isn't a big deal.
I have had two complete lockups in the past week when using this ROM. Once I was OCed to 1.4 and once at 1.2. I normally do not OC, but it really seems to help with this ROM(especially the camcorder).
Please do not let these minor issues keep anyone from trying this ROM. It rocks.

I've been on this rom for less then a day now and it is nice. I was getting tired of Sense 2.1 but when 3.0 came out it is hella sweet. I threw in some of Bamf's custom zip files in to tweak it more and it's hella mega sweet. I had trouble with Bamf's custom black dialer where it kept force closing so I had to switch it back to white, think I'll try fix permissions and see what happens. All in all Sense 3.0 is great and thanks to the devs of Bamf for throwing it out there for us geeks.
I dont understand the problem with starting a discussion for this preview version of the next BAMF. I personally havent put it on my phone because I simply dont know anything about it. It was posted by either adrenylne or thatdudebutch, not sure what one so why wouldnt we be able to discuss it. This is in fact a forum.....
At any rate, if there were a changelog for this preview I might have flashed it by now, but I think I'll wait for an official release.

Your right, this is a forum, and you are more than welcome to discuss it in the thread that adrynalyne originally created. Although it is his and the rest of team bamfs rom, so I would recommend leaving it up to him to create a new thread when he feels necessary.

There isn't a thread for it, just mentions and links packed into the 2.0 thread. Links that aren't working at that. I still can't locate a viable link to download it. So all in all I can see the desire to organize this topic.

I would agree with that, but it's not like we are distributing the preview. adrynalyne
made it so the link doesnt work for it anymore. I have the ROM on my computer because I downloaded it before he pulled it, but I'm certainly not going to post a link for it or anything. Like I said, I would put it on my phone but there isn't even a changelog out for it. I'll wait for an official release.

I also don't see the problem with starting a DISCUSSION about a preview that has in fact been shared on this forum. I didn't have enough posts to start this thread in the right "development " forum but thought people would appreciate it having its own thread instead of being mixed in with another Rom 's thread.

I totally agree. with over 1000 posts because of people asking the same redundant questions over and over and over again in the BAMF 2.0-5 thread, how are we expected to file through all of that stupid repetition?
Plus, since we do have a dirty negative-Nancy, I don't think Team BAMFwould have posted those links at all if they didn't expect any discussion on it. YES, it's in the wrong forum, but does that reeeeaally bother someone that much? In my beginning post, I mentioned that fact and noted I figured it would be moved.

jaybob or kush deck aosp

Which of these roms will make my old heroc that my gf is currently using quicker to the touch with more battery life. she is currently running aospcm 234.
Seriously how much more aosp can you get.... I used my heroc for a whole year either running cm or something by the dev aosp. now I have jaybob, evervolv, kush deck, etc.... Can someone who has used these roms individually from a non biased standpoint tell me which to use and why? (refrain from fanboy banter)
In the meantime I'm going to put kush deck with jaybobs kernel on there.

Depending on the patience level of your girlfriend, you might want to refrain from Jaybob's kernal. The camera is sometimes intermittent.
If she just wants everything to work, you should consider AOSPs froyo, everything is rock solid stable.
I'm currently trying out Deck, I've used all of them and the only quirk that bothers me is sometimes the GPS signal gets lost. I've actually lowered the max cpu settings and it hasn't happened since...but I'm sure it will.

Although I have not yet tried deck, I have tried aosp's , cm7 (not the latest rc, tho), evervolv, and jaybob's. I would say that out out those, jaybob's was the most hassle-free. Just make sure to flash the .29 kernel so to avoid camera issues (which the .35 tends to have ).
Gin & Salsa
Btw, this should be posted in the q&a section.....
Gin & Salsa
I have been on both. Although I used deck longer both Jaybob's and deck were both equally smooth and hassle free. I recently moved to the most recent CM7 release (not nightly) and love it. It's my new daily driver.
Good luck!

Your post in the dev section didn't bother me at all, I just told you it was in the wrong section (as an afterthought...) because there had been quite a bit of hoopla going on lately over that subject (non-dev related posts in the dev section) ... Not so much in the hero c threads, but still. as for getting answered, a lot of knowledgeable people read the q&a section simply because they like helping. You would definitely get answered, maybe not quite as promptly, but definitely.
You can ask a mod to delete the post if you like.
Gin & Salsa
we are here to help thats what xda is for as long as u dont post questions in development your fine if u have a specific question about a rom post it in that roms thread and youll get help alot faster and if it has to do with a bug it helps developers fix the rom to make it better. so please just dont start new threads in development asking questions.

Cool..cool.. anywho I hear ya on the bigger and badder phones. I'm on evo shift now and love it. When I was on heroc still the best rom imo was aosps froyo. Might very well be still. But gf has heroc now and I want to make sure her phone can keep up with mine. honestly the hero gets better cell service then my shift does. anyways back to the point at hand.. The heroc scene blew back up and I'm excited about it. these deck roms have one hell of a reputation from what I'm gathering. But jaybobs sort of specializing in this phone vs the mass produced roms of kush. I wish I could grab some more opinions from you guys if you have the time.

did we seriously just do a full 360 on this dude just an fyi the same people that post in development look around in q/a to help out and same goes for general its the exact same comunity. and not as maney people posted afterwords because you already had answers so why would someone reapeat what someone else has already said bottom line is read the forum rules and post in the correct section!

if we make a thread inside the dev section for answering questions it would defeat the purpose of THIS q&a section, wouldn't it.......one way to find out which rom is the most popular would be to scan the number of posts in each rom's thread. For instance, look at the amount of activity in the aospcmod gb thread. Easily the most popular rom.

Hey you never know. Its so damn sad. He was a great developer for the touchpad. His account has been permanently deleted too.
Very sad news. Let's hope he and and his family is ok, and nothing terrible happened.
See ya later, bro and thnx for your legendary work here!
The only hint I could find was this:
I'm having major connectivity issues at home, and am starting to think I've been throttled by my provider. I've synced the repos so many times from scratch since I've moved here that at about 10GB per repo I'm probably around 100GB in the last few days. and I still need to fetch the 4.2.2 source (now that I've got all the ICS and JB ROMs built).

But this off cause wouldn't be a reason to leave our community without a word of goodbye. So I fear that something personal happend, a stroke of fate. :crying:
Otherwise, if it should be true that his wife was doing all of that she should know how much we miss him too and that we hope of a reincarnation in form of a SGA2.
Anyway we wish you and your family all the best: "So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish!"
Thanks, SGA, for everything. You're a class act. I hope that everything is okay.

You all do this dev a great disservice with this presumptious crap. Leave him alone. If he comes back, great. If he doesn't, be thankful for what he gave us. As far as I'm concerned, the moderator should shut this thread down.
As a user of his work, i certainly hope all is well. Should he decide to come back, i think we can find a place for him again.
That said, while i will leave this open, please do not go off the rails with crazy theories, or harassing him or the staff for more info. If he says something, that is fine.. but lets keep this simple, ok guys?
Just wanted to alsoexpress my appreciation for SGA. He will be missed. Hope all is well with him.

You guys are all greedy!

I'm tired of people bashing on these devs hard work, they have given so much and all you all can do is say how unstable the ROM is, if you don't like it don't use it. Because of your greediness it appears camcory has left, he will not receive messages and his most popular ROM thread has been closed. From now on if you run into a problem with a ROM, state the problem, not you personal opinion about the ROM. Why do you all think jocala doesn't dev anymore?
I'm done ranting for now but you all need to start respecting these devs before we lose them!

That's fine what you're saying but again, this is where I have issues. If all people want to hear is how great they are or their work is always perfect they are doing it for the wrong reasons. People who do nothing but praise are called "fanboys" and don't contribute any useful info. If people are name calling or trashing somebody's work that's different. Anytime I mention issues I am always specific with what they are.
I have mentioned my gratitude many times but if that's all that people want to hear these forums are useless.

Like I said, state the issue nothing more. If people just stated the issue they have, then you wouldn't be hearing my rant. Its like going to McDonalds and complaining that the food isn't cooked the way you like it.

This has been a problem on XDA for as long as I have been a member. There are a lot of people who just complain, or constantly say " fix it, fix it, fix it." Not everyone does this, but many do. Too many people forget that the Dev's are not obligated to release a rom or to even update it publicly. They do this for many different reasons. I agree state an issue, but part of the problem comes when an issue is overstated because people refuse to read. There is no reason to mention an issue 30 + times. Same goes for the questions that get repeated. Too many people want someone to come running to their aid. We were all noobs at one time, we learn by reading posts and trying ourselves. I just recently reread the rules and all of this is talked about there. I always appreciate our Developers and the work they release, even if it never leaves Alfa stage. I also appreciate the members who take the time to help others and offer good suggestions on a fix, or workaround. We should all keep in mind this question, if I were a Dev, would I want to deal with this?
End rant.

You are dead on about people harping on the same old crap all the time or saying "when is it going to be fixed?" They should just be ignored and eventually they will go away hopefully. It also doesn't help when so many senior members who had good comments to offer most of the time are now gone.

It's true that a lot of people don't do their research before asking questions. But what I find even worse is when people respond with answers like 2 weeks or bashing the person asking the question. I find it would be easier to just ignore or direct them to q&a rather than cluttering the development threads.

Some people respond with "2 weeks" when ETAs are asked by another user, which is considered a major faux pas. I do agree however that when ETAs come up no one should respond. I also don't think anyone should be bashed however it's hard when you get some who just flat demand things and act like a Dev is asleep at the wheel or negligent for not posting a fix or update. It's hard to believe people actually will say stuff like "when you gonna fix it, huh?" Yes, that kind of English too.
It's like a hundred dswaggz going around asking them to fix the problem (originally he asked for ports, hey just saying XD)
not all noobs are bad
I think this place is great! I haven't posted much because I'm not a dev. I have little to contribute other than my testing experiences and the occasional $5.
A year ago I would have told you rooting is pointless and custom ROMs are dangerous, but I've had a hugely positive experience with XDA and the roms these devs have released. Given the wide user appeal the site offers,(remember this is something for free, rare these days,) you can't hate on the people that don't get it.
It seems like XDA draws both those that have the open source mindset, and a very small minority of people that have no idea how a cell phone works, or could change a tire for that matter. They don't know what kind of time and effort goes into software and they don't care to know. These are people that can't help themselves. They see something cool and they want it.
Remember though, this is a small portion of people, so a better statement here, I think would be "occasionally, one of you is greedy."
Just my 2 cents.

And how hard can it be to click the thanks button? I do it for every OP when I use their ROM or their work or whatever. But when I have my own work viewed over 50 thousand times and downloaded over 1500 times, and receive 75 thanks, then have people ask if I can do this or that or fix this or that, most of THEM not clicking "thanks," I understand how frustrating it can be...

I should add that to the op

Most people don't care about the thanks button. I could care leas if people hit thanks. Its just not a big deal to me

XDA Pro App - laggy and slow

This app is always really unresponsive, especially in first use. Trying to scroll a page can cause freezes for a few seconds.
Not seeing this with any other function. Stock Google factory build with Franco kernel running stock settings.
I bought the app for simplicity and speed over having to use a browser but the browser is normally faster?
Ideas?
Its junk and I would never pay for it. I prefer XDA desktop in Dolphin browser!
XDA app is really weak. You can try tapatalk, but it's also slow while scrolling, etc. Just poor coded apps from what I've been told. You can try tweaking your system to improve performance in the app, but it won't be perfect.
aosp browser with xda only, no apps needed nor wanted. always fast this way
I've said a million times the only reason I use Tapatalk is because there aren't any alternatives. XDA app is pretty much the same thing.
I cant complain about app, its works, notification works fast, no problems, sometimes kinda slow loading, but never crash
Good to know. Surprising given the skill of many people on this forum, a simple app like this should be perfect..... They have my money so too late for me! Back to the browser.

Tapatalk isn't made by XDA. The XDA app is also just a branded and licensed Tapatalk client. No apps are "perfect" either, regardless whoever created it.

I didn't know that. Even more surprising that the brilliance within the xda community would put their name to this crud.

Not sure if it can be considered as a serious alternative but give a try to Forum Fiend. I didn't test recent updates but the user experience was slightly different compared to Tapatalk.

Its just that there are hardly any good alternatives. Most forums apps you can find will be based on the Tapatalk API anyways, too.

Can't come fast enough. I do have a feature request for XDA One. I want it to data mine all the links I press and send me to an XDA redirect that's down half the time, pr2-xda-devolpers.com. Make that happen, and I'm on board. Oh, and I want little XDA branding on all the screenshots I upload.

O frabjous day, calloo callay! This is pleasant news because I don't think it can be overstated how ghastly and absolutely horrid the Tapatalk user experience and design are.
Looking foward to the new app however; it's obvious the current one is lacking and far behind
That is wonderful news. I have one question not related to the actual development of the app, will it replace the free and premium apps or become a new app? (Reason being is I bought both Tapatalk and XDA Pro)
Try Tapatalk, it just got better.

You aren't kidding. Thanks for the heads up. There wasn't any update on the store...was it an API change?

Does that mean that the XDA app will get the same update?
