Thats fine. Once you begin rooting it should start the adb service and find your device. Just follow the instructions.

I would recommend superoneclick by CLShortfuse for the actual rooting. Works great, and you can enable non market apps with the same program. One note, in the top right of the box that opens, you will have to choose either "psneuter" or "rage...cage". I think most people choose the rage option, but psneuter is chosen by default.

1) restart computer
2) uninstall drivers you have now for the phone. Download the new version (1.8)
3) Try again, and good luck.
Final thought, did you enable usb debugging?

Root OF /sdcard, it means the main directory ... Not in any folders.

So I put it on the internal sd(no a folder) then boot in to recovery and just re-install packages. Done

Are you on 2.2? If so then no, its not digitally signed for 3e recovery ... Look up in TRusselo's signature he has a link for getting passed that ... If on 2.1 you are good.

On 2.1

[Q] Need tester for one click root for galaxys no computer needed
Hey,
I just wrote this up.
Thanks to jcase for the information and his root for eris: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742228
This will root your phone with no button pressing. No need for a PC.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ptkbiyt99bws3ft/Galaxysrooter_Final.apk
NOTE: The auto-reboot will not work. it seems only system apps can reboot the phone. So for now.
Here is the work around
Code:
Just power off... Reboot into recovery...
Hold vol + and vol -
Hold power
Wait for vibrant
Release power
Reinstall packages
Mirror thanks to jphilpot
Confirmed working! Thanks to themykel.
Thanks to all for bug testing. This should be the final version. No need to use astro or anything to move files.
Thanks!
If you like this app and it helped you. Please donate. http://bit.ly/crSq3B THANKS!
if this is confirmed working, i can put this up in my market account for users to easily download / install / use. let me know.

Tried it 3 times before giving up and rooting the old fashioned way..with the update.zip
For some reason it kept putting the files on the sd card instead of internal.

Koush is going to add the root method to clockwork in the extras folder. It would be awesome if koush added a root option for as many phones as possible. That would make clockwork the ultimate android app.

I had the same problem and posted my solution in the main SOC thread. Here's what I did:
I used SOC 1.5.1. I had Debugging enabled and turned the phone off. I opened SOC and clicked 'Root.' When the prompt said 'Waiting for Device,' I turned the phone on. SOC did it's thing, and it properly remounted the phone. Everything is good now. I hope this works for you!!!

Old

New method found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19390207#post19390207
If you run this and it doesn't root you try wiping data from Setting>privacy and wipe the internal storage as well. I did that and it worked for me. Granted I didn't try this method without wiping my internal. If nothing else it cleans it up for you.

Ok, so whatever changes you made ... it seems to work better in a virtual windows environment
Before it would get stuck at "daemon started succesfully"
now it goes through to "Installing Root Tools..."
but then I get a string of error messeages
either "device offline" or "device not found"
then "cleaning up" ... device not found
then "rebooting" ...device not found
then it freezes
when I unplug my device or toggle debugging mode it continues to say "root complete"
.... so close.
So If I'm rooted on Z4? then I still need to unroot and upgrade to Z6 for this to work?
Thanks a lot man for such this easy one-click-root tool.

[One Click]Updated!!! LG Revo All in One Pkg for Root, CWM 5.0.2.7, and Unroot

This is an All-in-One package to Root and install CWM Recovery or to UnRoot and install the stock recovery. I have spent many hours trying to modify this to be as easy as possible for all to accomplish their goals whether by modding or returning to stock.
What is This?
This is an exploit built by the Revolutionary team, that was ported to the Esteem by djrbliss, then I was able to fix permissions and install su and superuser. The exploit is not built by me, rather by the Revolutionary guys. This zip contains the proper drivers for the Revolution, all root files, and the Root&Recovery.bat file. The .bat has been modified to fix ANY of the problems people are having with root, and will make it so that CWM will stick through reboot. It installs the newest versions of the su binary and Superuser.apk. It will also install ClockWorkMod Recovery also (no need to run RevoToolkit anymore). The unroott will uninstall and delete the su binary and remove Superuser.apk. It will also remove CWM and install the stock ZV7 recovery.img. If there are any problems, just let me know.

I need to know how to get a rom back on my phone. it is stuck on the white htc screen and will not do anything including shut off. Any help would be great thanks.
This happened to me recently as long as you can get into recovery your should still be fine. With TWRP you can use Adb sideload to push a rom back onto the phone.

Holding down the power button long enough like 30 seconds should power off the phone. Maybe try to hold the Vol down button too like your entering the recovery. that might trick it to power off or reboot.

I was too up until last week when i found all these guides and tools available here. Plus there are plenty of people available and willing to help here no need for a new phone. Install the drivers on your computer, reboot into recovery and use the adb guide to sideload a rom all these processes are well documented.
Download the tool here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40341536
Download a Rom you want.
Then connect your phone to your computer while in bootloader, click sideload Rom from the tool you downloaded, then select your Rom. Profit.

My point is this guy is talking about ditching the phone for another and I gave him a simple easy solution to his problem that is essentially one click. And you think someone who is considering getting a new phone over a wiped sd card is interested in taking the time to learn ADB?
The OP sounds like the type of person who should just stick to stock, but alas here we are.

All you have to do is Google 'how to sideload,' to find that all you have to type is 'adb sideload rom.zip'
It is very simple.

People are so hard headed, yeah I'm wrong OP download ADB, update it, start learning ADB, connect your phone in bootloader and ADB sideload your Rom of choice. Because that will be much easier than clicking one button......
