[Q] Issue on camera - Touch Diamond2, Pure Android Development

Hello,
Just to know if i'm the only one to have an issue on camera, when i open any camera software to take a picture i have a violet line appearing on preview and on the picture taken. This appears with any kernel, frx03, frx06, and gingerbread. And i use the latest rootfs, initrd.

[FIX] Possible fix for CM 6.1 Camera FC issues-MERGED 20101122

The fix below has been merged into the nightlies!! expect to see it on the 23rd.
If you're impatient, you can install a compiled version of the apk from recovery...
---------------
The camera issue is for ALL of cyanogenmod, not just us dinc users.
I've grabbed some of the patches that are being worked on and put some of my own work into it.
Please let me know what you find.
For me, it crashes almost every single time if I use continuous focus, but it's fine with infinity.
Screen off and on works without FC, but the camera is hard coded to not allow recording with screen off.
1. Backup
2. Flash aosp-camera-fix-v1.0.zip
3. reboot..
flashed
Just flashed, off to a meeting but will report back shortly. I would love to be able to shoot video in 720.
in to see the responses
no issues
No FC in continuous or infinity mode. Shot about 10 minutes of video in both. Screen off then on kills recording. Still no 720p recording mode though (not that this was supposed to fix that, I was just hoping).
Recap: No camera/video FC in either mode (continuous or infinity)
Thanks for this
...
To get 720 p.. Make sure quality is set to custom and file type is mpeg4, then it should show up in the settings.
Someone alert camalus!
I will be flashing this after work today! Thank you!!!

hi seanzer. on cm nightly build #161 - issue: when on videocam, and i turn off the screen (recording or not), when you unlock, the videocam becomes almost half the size of the screen (with the preview screen almost a quarter the size, and is now on the lower left), and it's unresponsive.

Same thing happened on my friends moto Droid 1.. i think the latest commit to the camera broke it. Try a nightly before the 24th... which only contains my camera fix. I haven't had time to test the latest nightly yet, but I will have to investigate more what happened..

anyone know? is this the same with all aosp roms?.. the camera just isn't as good as the htc cam.
Fixed my Nexus One
Installed on CM 6.1 on a Nexus One, fixed the camera for photos, haven't tested the videos.
Symptoms: Camera keeps crashing after a few shots. Force Close the application and if I tried to run it I only got a blackscreen until the Force Close window appeared.
It also rebooted my phone one 2 occasions.
Installed using Rom Manager:
Install from SD
Selected .zip
Backup Rom (Yes)
Wipe (NO!!!)
Everything went smooth.
Now I'm taking pictures, modifying settings, Touch Focus, everything seems to work.
Took 20 pictures in a row and fast.
Thanks for the fix
I had high expectations on this one, I tried it but I still get FC on the camera.
I have a Magic and I am running the CM 6.1 Rom

If you look at the resolution of the 8mp wide setting on the stock sense camera, it's not actually 8mp. It's really the same as 6mp wide on the CM camera.

[XAP/Source] Alternative Camera: WP7HD2nCamt continued again, working on v2.0

Alternative Camera for WP7HD2
We all know that the autofocus of the camera of the DFT WP7 release does not work correctly. As already pointed out here one can switch to the camcorder in order to focus and switch back to the camera to trake a picture which is more or less in focus.
This workaround works pretty well, but I am just to lazy to always switch forth and back to take a picture. Therefore I tried to build a new camera application for the WP7HD2 where the autofocus is working.
Another Working Camera for HD2 With full resolution by Sergey_H
[XAP] SHCameraApp - camera for HD2 with full resolution and auto-focus from Sergey_H
Sergey_H released a fully working camera application with full resolution. So my try will end here I guess since my initial goal was to have a camera application with full resolution, which is available now. However, if anyone wants to continue on my approach, I released the source, see below.

Update Information:
I started to continue with my approach since the design of Sergey_H's release is just not according to my taste (sorry Sergey_H ) but otherwise his release is just great. Also, dont expect anything better from my releases than his release, more, i think my releases will take longer and will be quite buggy for a long time. But if you have anohter great idea or know how to do things better, below is a link to my source code. I just ask in return, that you share you improvements if you use parts of my code.

Problems - Solutions
Problem 1, arkatis in Post #16: The latest version doesn't wok for me... I press to take a shot and then the app crashes to Home screen!
Solution 1, georo in Post #20: It is because you still connected to the PC. Was doing same thing on me but I disconnected and now working great.
Problem 2: Can you disable the shutter sound when taking an image?
Solution 2: Yes and no. Till now i found not pogrammable way to disable this sound but there is a half way solution: Change the Registry value below to 0, and then the shutter sound will follow the overall volume setting. Meaning, that when you mute your phone, the shutter sound is also muted
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Audio\StreamClass\Output\10]
"BypassDeviceGain"=dword:0

General Remarks
You wont see the picture when pressing the button, but it Taken pictures are shown on screen, when taping screen, it goes back to camera mode. the pictures will be saved in the album "Saved Pictures" for versions 1.X and in "CameraRoll" library for versions 2.X.
As always with making pictures, the steadier you hold the camera, the better the quality. In the attached pictures you can see the difference between the stock (right) and my alternative camera (left).
After pressing the camera soft button on the screen, it takes quite a long time untill the taken image is shown on the screen (not sure how to speed it up). But nonetheless, the taken image is from the time/frame when you pressed the button.
This is a beta build, and I am not sure when or how fast I can make an update. Thoughts are always welcome. But if you cant wait and want to build your own improved version, try it yourselfs -> see Credits.

With this app you cannot take any picture susing the "hardware" button of the phone. The on-screen button should work, but it takes normaly some time to save the image. Hopefully by tonight or tomorrow I will upload an improved version including a post-view of taken image.
Working on it! thanks
added a new improved version, but still beta
Wow!! I luv u man. I always switched to android when i had to take pics, but with this I guess, that is not an issue. Thanks. Cant wait.
Nice, I can't wait for the full resolution version
I found a little spelling error by the way!
It should say "Tap screen to continue...", not "tab..."
Nice app... thanks for working on our camera problem.
very cool
New version out, fix of rotation. Problem of program-exit when returning from library still not fixed tho doesnt happen that often anymore. Seems a deeper problem, my guess is that it has something to do with the initialization of camera in the beginning, will look into it when I have more time and especially more knowlege .

Snapchat problem?

Hello guys. I installed the new official ROM, and Snapchat looks distorted.
There is no nav bar but Snap seems like it has one, but is painted black. I can provide screenshots if you do not understand what I mean.
Is there any way to fix it, or I should go back to the old roms?

*Potentially Working* Google Camera port

Edit: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=962021903579482902
Remember to activate camera2 API before trying the app.
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?act=search&source=pst&noform=1&username=B-S-G
It appears bsg have release an ARM32 apk of an older version of Google Camera HDR. Should work on the G5Plus. Can't access the link to download though.
anyone able to help?
Focus doesn't seem to work
HDR+ port by defcomk
Here is something that works for me:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4UT4dU4LpjJZFZnbGJ1TXVJN2c/view?usp=sharing
Make sure CAM2 API is enabled.
If you are on stock ROM it can be done by adding this line to build.prop:
Code:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
If on a custom nougat ROM use this module: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4UT4dU4LpjJRWY1dzBBUTdHbm8
If on Oreo custom ROM, cam2 is enabled by default.
To use the camera it follow these steps:
1) Open the app, change video resolution of back camera to 4K (VERY IMPORTANT, else there will be FC)
2) On the camera menu you'll notice it's not focusing, so switch to video mode by swiping left on the screen.
3) In video mode tap on the subject you are shooting to focus on it. ( May need to be tapped more than once, Zooming in with two swipe finger gesture helps to get perfect focus)
4) After you are happy with the focus switch to photo mode by swiping right, this will maintain the focus that was set in video mode, if not repeat step 3.
5) Do NOT press shutter yet. Lock AE/AF before taking shot by long pressing on the finger to form a circle on the screen. (VERY IMPORTANT, else there will be FC)
6) After you have long pressed, take the photo. A circle will be shown which takes 30 shots in one second.
7) Shutter will be grayed out until the photo is processed which happens in the background, you can check progress by taping the thumbnail.
8) You can take as many shots you like with the present focus lock, also repeat the from step 3 for changing focus.
That's it
Thanks to @defcomg for the port and @dhk.-(DhKDc) for the magisk module

WOW!! I thought the Google camera HDR+ was all hype. I had HDR+ on my Nexus 5 but apparently that was the old version not using the new API. I thought that took pretty good pictures but this new one on this phone is incredible. Every single thing I tried, every camera mod I could find, on any ROM other than stock, every picture looked over softened and blurry, or super grainy and still kind of blurry. Now it looks better than stock, impressively so. The color balance, focus, and sharpness is top notch. Amazing what a change in software can do to a piece of hardware.
A quick tip for people, the camera opens up with the focus set at infinite so if you take a picture of something 5ft+ away, there's no need to swipe to the video to focus. Just open the camera, long press to hold focus, and snap the picture. The camera also works in 16:9 if that's your thing.
Edit: open camera is finicky for videos, giving me reboots. Use Footej camera for quick non HD photos and videos.
Edit2: After messing around with it a bit more, it's not the just HDR+ that makes the pictures so much better, it's the new camera API. Install and use it with any camera app supporting camera2 API and the photos are much better all around.
Thanks a ton for posting this, both you, and OP.

I just tried this and yes. It's in mine too. Grrrr
After a few tries, I can only get it to show if I use the flash. Maybe it's just a flash issue?
Yep, I have this problem too.
Is this issue fixed? I'm guessing AI mode caused this (if that makes sense)
I've ordered Honor Play 4GB variant India which will be delivered on 4th Oct 2018 Sunday.
Starting to regret my choice.

Makes no sense that it's connected to ai, no. How could it? You can safely ignore the muppets on that other forum ("maybe you have a mark on your jeans" lol!)
It happens with me with Open Camera so it's not even related to the stock camera app. I used to have a sony z3 and that camera added a pink blob in the middle. I just don't think phone manufacturers test their stuff properly.

Oh cool ! Thanks for the reply.
Got any tips for a new Honor Play user ?
I only see it when I use the flash, on items close to the lens, so I'm wondering if it's taking the image slightly sooner than it should do?
It seems like and it's the actual flash LED glow that's causing the spot?
If it took a millisecond longer to take the pic, the LED glow wouldn't get picked up by the image sensor?
Just a theory.

No, because for me it happens (I can see the shape) when i've not yet taken the shot so there's no flash, focus light etc. And the shape - it's a rotated square.
It is odd, because I can't get it to occur on every photo. It does seem easiest on trousers! Perhaps it's supposed to be a watermark that's much less visible.
If you only pretend to use your phone camera and instead use a proper camera, like huawei do (https://petapixel.com/2018/08/20/huawei-caught-faking-smartphone-photos-with-a-dslr-again/) then you won't have this problem.
