[Android App] Active Task / Task Manager (Replacement 4 Samsung Program Monitor) - Paid Software Announcement and Discussion

Active apps is designed as a replacement for the Samsung Task Manager / Program monitor in touchwiz launcher that comes with Samsung Android Phone. It monitor an unusual activity that consumes battery or tracking the application that has been put on standby mode. This is important because some application might not be coded properly. Therefore, even though it has been put on standby mode (Pressing Home) they are still running, eating CPU and hence your device's battery. E.q. browser and gallery apps in the Early Galaxy Tab rom even though it's closed or stand by, it's still consuming battery. However, the scenario is not limited to only Samsung Galaxy tab. Generally, it applies to all android phone.
How does it differ from other task manager?
Unlike other task managers, which shows irrelevant applications, Active apps is simple. It only shows programs that have tasks running and possibly consuming CPU. Therefore at one glance you can decide what to do.
Features:
- Tracking application that has been put on standby and running (I called them Active Apps).
- Easy Switch tasks for Active Application from Main Application or Widget
- Widget to show Number of Active Applications running which may consume CPUs/Battery
- Provide package manager to manage your installed application(Faster than stock Application Manager).
- Provide views of Ram, Apps that using RAM and free ram function.
- Provide view of Storage both internal SD and external SD, data and database.
- Provide theme capability - More theme coming soon -
- Provide UI Customization. You can mix and match color to find your desire look.
- Provide 1x1, 1x2 Active Application widget and 1x1, 1x2 Active Ram widget with stylish and beautiful pop up style.
- Provide a flexible customization on many areas of the application and widgets.

Review from www.dailyappnews.com:
"This Android app with all its awesomeness is available for download on Market. But it costs you SGD $2 to purchase. Trust me that its price is really worth it and the features are more than what you can get for SGD $2."

Merci

Operates test Xperia LT15i ARC - 2.3.2, lack of fluiditée when moving from one page to another slight lag and slowdown, if you could arrange it, otherwise extremely convenient as SGS and monitor its program, but the Widget is very ugly ... Thank you

there is still the discussion --> do android really need a taskmanager?
Some say yes, some no....

nice idea but how does the app knows which app is irrelevant?

I'd say it doesn't need automatic task killers, but it's definitely handy to have an app to manually kill apps that get stuck and quit responding

agree this is right

So what's the difference between the free version and the paid version (beside the ads)? I'm interested in the themes support as I'm not a big fan of bright text against black background. Love the widget though.
Cheers.

Multitask App?

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, and if it has please forgive me, but are there any apps that can replicate, or resemble Palm Pres Card style multitasking? Is there a limitation with the Android Platform that means it couldnt work? Jailbroken iphones have this functionality too, and it seems like with the open nature of the Android Platform we should be able to have.
that would need an app that runs other apps "windowed"... i don't think that is gonna happen. opposing the iphone android already has true multitasking out of the box, just get a task manager if you need one.

If programmed to do so the app you close will remain open and working in the background. Then you can re open it and you will be where you were when you closed it.

You could just use the built in multitasking. Hold Down The home button until the little window pops up.

Have you ever tried TaskOS? It just do what you want
I'll post recent screenshots but at the beginning, the app was like that:
Now it has a lot of customization features.

I am not able to develop the screenshot now, it show only the icon. I strongly believe that i wiill be able to implement the screen capture feature soon...!
Report me any bug/suggestion/remark.
Features:
Launch it with a long press on search button ( camera button will come for devices without search button)
1) See all running app in an endless horizontal scroll
2) icons ( not screenshots) are displayed like palm pre
3) kill an app by dragging it to the top of the screen
4) Drag down an app to ignore it
5) icons ( not screenshots) are displayed like palm pre
6) icon size / space beetween icon fully customizable
7) Graphic png fully customizable
look in the preferences for all features
Thanks for that App, I like it alot. One minor aesthetic thing I wouldn't mind seeing in future versions is kinetic scrolling, although that's really not important. Good luck implementing screenshots, too!

That list just shows the last 6 programmes you have used so you can shortcut to them. It does not necessarily mean they will be running in the background.
Multitasking on the Pre is the best multitasking there is. Hands down. If someone made a "cards" application for android it would sell a ton...

Task'd - The Premiere To-Do List For Android™

Task'd is the premiere task manager and to-do list app for Android™ devices. It was designed with the user in mind to be beautiful, functional, and simple. The goal is to help you, the user, better manage your priorities and schedule.
The user interface is intuitive, with clearly marked and recognizable icons. Everything is right at your fingers, not hidden inside some obscure menu or tab. Editing a task is as simple as clicking it in the main list. Want to delete a task? Just long-press it and click delete.
Each task you create must have a name and a priority. Optionally, it can also have a due date and a description containing more details.
You can sort your tasks by priority (default), due date, order added, and alphabetically. You can also change the date format if you use a different standard than the default MM-DD-YYYY.
The full version of Task'd also includes a 4x1 homescreen widget that allows you to see all your tasks, or create a new one.
The free version will always remain one update behind the full version. Currently, it is only lacking the widget. Once the full version receives an update, the free version will get the widget, but not the new features. Bug fixes will still be rolled out as necessary.
Of course, the obligatory screenshots are attached at the end of the post. As for the QR codes with Market links:

Let's Find Out the Minimum Amount of Services Needed to Run the Gear and Save Memory!

Hi there!
Yesterday, I've received (quite late, I know!) my Galaxy Gear SM-V700 and proceeded to pair it to me Note 3 running stock 4.2.2.
What I first noticed after touching the phone with the NFC cradle, was that a GAZILLION of things started installing: Gear Manager, Update 1, more than a couple of progresses bar (each installing several stuff), plugins, Samsung App client, Samsung Apps update, Samsung Account, Samsung Account update, Gear1 plugin., etc. etc.!
A lot of applications and services were needed. All the "Apps" suite (Samsung Apps, Samsung Account and their updates) were required to install apps to the Gear. Since there are very few apps for the watch, I installed all I would ever need and proceeded to freeze that suite again without any negative implications to the Gear utilization (or the Gear Manager)
The thing is that for the daily usage, many services were added that are running all the time. My idea would be to:
1) Freeze those that are not needed or are used for features I don't use/care of the Gear (i.e. S Voice, Pedometer)
2) If not possible to freeze, just Greenify the most possible apps without affecting daily usage
So, this is what the Gear left on my device:
APPS/SERVICES THAT RUN AT STARTUP (WITH THE BOOT_COMPLETED INTENT)
ConnectionManager: com.sec.android.service.connectionmanager
Gear1 Plugin: com.samsung.android.gear1plugin
goproviders: com.samsung.accesory.goproviders
NSyncProvider: com.samsung.android.notiproviders.applicationmanager
Samsung Accesory Service: com.samsung.accessory.core
saproviders: com.samsung.accesory.saproviders
APPS/SERVICES INSTALLED (AS IN TITANIUM BACKUP)
TextTemplateProvider 2.3.0
SANotiProvider 1.0.9.42
NSyncProvider 1.021
Gear1 Plugin 1.7.052101
saproviders 2.0.87
goproviders 2.0.87
WeatherProvider 140521.01_2.0.18
Update Gear software 2.140442.2011
ConnectionManager v 1.1.10
SAFileTransferCore 2.0.18.4.1
Samsung Accesory Service 2.14.41
Gear Manager 2.1.14052101
APPS/SERVICES ALREADY EXISTING IN THE DEVICE
AccuweatherPhone2013.apk
WeatherWidgetDaemon.apk
GREENIFY
Check all of these and each of their memory usage! :crying:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
To sum it up, my idea would be to know what every app/service affects on the Gear functionality, so each of us could freeze/Greenify those that we don't care for.
The best would be to be able to freeze them, but if this is not possible, at least Greenify them so the "shut down" when the phone is not in use (of course, without breaking the required Gear functionalities!)
I'll do my part and start testing with freezing each of them and check the most possible combinations to see what they do and report back. If possible, please help me out with these by testing that by yourself so we could find out these faster.
Thanks in advance
EDIT:
RESULTS (I'll update this section as I reach more conclusions)
APPS/SERVICES THAT CAN BE FROZEN
AccuweatherPhone2013.apk, WeatherWidgetDaemon.apk: if you don't want the weather to show neither on the clock face or the Gear weather app. Also needed for Accuweather Widget on the phone
Thanks, great find!!

Privacy apps/thoughts

Hi all,I switch between android and ios every year. For example i have been using note5 till the iPhone 7 came out and switched to ip7. Now from ip7 switched to note 8.
Whatever iPhone i use i m always jailbroken.
Here are my observations.
Iphone has always been known for great apps and app store. While Android is great and known for the customization. But i always found that iphone always had better customization interms of integration 3rd party apps into the system while being jailbroken. For example. There is an app called whoozit pro on iPhone that can just pull info from a regular app store app like truecaller and display it on the incoming call screen. While Android truecaller app can also notify you with a banner on the screen, the iPhone displays text like it was from the contacts itself and looks much more like like stock, but android banner looks like some third-party advertising.
Another app called bioprotect simply locks apps using touch id. I haven't found a single app on the entire play store that can properly lock apps all these years. When an bioprotect locked app is tried to open it instantly askes for touchid and also blurrs out the preview in the recents screen. while every app on the Android allows users to see a snapshot of the app for a milli second befor asking for fingerprint. And worst when pressed recents button u can see a preview of the app all time you want. I dont see why a developer cant built a good app locker that can truly protect the privacy. Thinking of previews in notification its even worse too. No app does that too. While iphone has better cydia apps that does.
Some apps directly add buttons and functionality to the stock dialer apps, some can lock albums in the stock gallery app,
The list goes on.. None of these are available for Android and we brag customization.

Well, if I was to speculate, I'll tell you why: in the simplest terms iphone has maybe 5 current models, almost all the same as previous ones with little tweaks here and there, Samsung alone introduced more different types of phones in last 3 months probably. When you write app for Android you don't even know what cpu it will run on, it could be mediatek, exynos, qualcom and few others I can't even remember. It could be made by Samsung, LG, Sony and many others and operating system is written by Google with as little memory as 500MB and as much as 6GB. Is Apple still forcing system updates on everybody, like they used to in the past? I have phone running Android version from 6 yrs ago and most newest programs run fine. Because of strict restrictions and very limited hardware diversity programs can be tightly integrated with operating system, where in Android you can't do that, if you want your app to run on many different phones. If Apple was a country it would be dictatorship with one leader and all dressed in uniforms and Android would be democracy with everybody doing it's own thing and no one agreeing on anything LOL. But then if you're switching back and forth, it must be something that draws you to Android, so it can't be all that bad, or your switching don't make any sense. If I had to buy phone for my grandmother I would probably pick iphone, if I had iphone and was forced to use itunes to transfer few files from computer to phone or back and I do that often, I'm afraid I would smash the phone with the hammer and be out thousand dollars, but it's just me and maybe I'm nuts.
