call filter w/ white list for gingerbread - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey there,
i'm looking for a quality call filter application which has a white list and profiles (time/day related blocking) and actually works.
i'm running cm7 and haven't found a good one yet, call filter, afirewall, extreme call blocker droid, those are the ones i tested recently.
what i'd prefer too, is to get the application from a trusted dev, w/o handing over gps location data to some devs in asia.
if the filter has easy adding for contact groups it would be perfect.
have you guys discovered something that fits my needs?
thanks for taking the time to help me, i appreciate it!
B

Yep, the two best ones are made by the same company:
Root Call Blocker (for general use):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta
Call Master (for advanced users):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist
These are the only blockers that completely block everything without turning the screen on. Need to be rooted though.

:0 never heard of those two applications. seems the dev is quite an exzentrik person.

[Tool] CallWall - The call firewall [v1.0.1 26-08]

Hi you all out there,
since I was searching for application ideas I read about the wish for a call firewall again and again.
I decided to think about it and now here it is:
CallWall - The Call Firewall
It's an application which provides a service which directly blocks incoming calls by matching them with some user creatable filters.
Current filters are:
- Simple filter (a la *1337* to block all numbers with 1337 in it)
- Regex filter (a la .*1337.*)
- Contact filter blocks a single contact
- Contact group filter blocks a hole group of contacts
- Unknown number filter blocks all calls with an unknown caller ID
The calls can be blocked (same as clicking the hangup button directly) or just be muted.
I had to compile the app against the source and not the SDK - only for the hangup thing which is ~4 lines of code, all other things are SDK stuff. It installs and runs without problems in the emulator, so I think not-rooted-phones should be able to use it, too.
Please post comments and bug thing here
Have fun with it, hope you like it.
------
v1.0.1 - 26-08
-Added notifications for blocked calls and an ongoing notification while the service is started & active. All of them can be switched off in the settings.
------
Source code available at my git repository.
Could you add a screening feature like "You Have Reached " I had it on my Sanyo 500 years ago and I could pick up in the middle of them leaving a message. Well I think it would be cool if its possible THx
irrenhaus at it again
nice work man
can't wait to see what you add on to this
It didn't work for me...
All the calls still got through..

Yah, I thought about an answering machine on the phone which gives you the possibility to record an answer text and which records onto the sd card. But that will maybe come somewhen in the future
Mh could you give information about your configured filters?
I could only test it on my phone and the emulator...
Thanks

well these features are some what there.. I have them with google voice it saves all my voice mails (even transcribes them too) and it saves my text.. And I can screen my calls I can listen to there voicemail and if i wanna pick up I just do so... so in some sense it is a answering machine. oh and the cool part if some one calls you from an unknown number they cant get through they have to first leave there name and number.. Well thats the way i have it setup anyways
tried out some of the features and working well on my part awesome work again
We already have an ignore option on the phone im not trying to put this down but how is this any different?

Well, I think this piece of work is just more - lets say advanced
To say the truth, I think if the original functions do it for you there is no need for this app. Also the only reason I've made this is that I heard many voices screaming for an app like this - so I decided to code it .
All the power to you in no way was i hating just asking to find out more about this
^^ I think the original way to ignore a call just lets you ignore specific contacts.
The CallWall lets you additionaly ignore unknown numbers, hole user groups and numbers by pattern... And I'm currently adding different notification things so you know that a call was blocked ^^
Well I think that's all about it...
I think this thread needs to go to "Dream applications and games" and not in the Android Dev. forum....
Like the app though, could be very useful.
Stericson
Ah well yah sorry about that, reading so much the dev forum that I didn't think of the other ones xD
great idea
I really like this idea and like the overall layout. Good work!
Call and Text blocking...
I'd love an App that let's me block text and calls from a certain number, but not only blocks them, but let's them know in no uncertain terms that I've blocked them!! Like on texts, it would send an auto-response to the number saying something like "the T-Mobile customer you are messaging has blocked this number xxx-xxx-xxxx. No messages sent will be received." or something.
suggestion
hey irrenhaus,
a feature that i dont think would be too hard to implement, is a filter where you block out everyone EXCEPT for a specific group/contact ... for example, when im at certain places, i would like to put everyone to mute except for my family... what do you think?
EDIT: i had another idea but forgot it so will edit this when i remember
I think this is great. I am tired of hitting the ignore button. I would rather the phone just mute itself and i don't even have to pay attention to it. With his feature, you don't ahve to look at the phone and touch something. This is aces above "your hitting the end button". Nice work!
I had a great app like this on my window mobile phone, except it had the option to answer the call and hang up, so the caller couldn't leave a voice mail.
Then it would send them a SMS stating they had been blocked, and if they replied via SMS the sms's were automatically deleted.
Also, it did this behind the scenes so you didn't get any notification(missed called, or sms, ringtones).
Was a really great app!...

[Beta] Call Master CDMA testing thread

Hi everyone! Thank you for your help in getting CM up to a flawless standard! We are now almost ready to deploy CM 1.5 - it will include MMS blocking, Class0 auto replies and many other new and very cool features.
We need your help now to iron out any remaining bugs before we embark on a daemon rebuild. Please download the app from the market and get testing! Here are the issues we want to address specifically:
- If you have problems regaining 3G after the telephony restart. This should have been fixed. If not, please try "Slow radio restart" in Debugging and report your results!
- Issues moving list priorities on Light or Dark theme. Again, if you have issues, please switch to the other theme, try again and then report back.
- Notification color schemes. We are interested if the new notifications comply with the majority of frameworks.
Thank you in advance for all your great work, this ultra-awesome app is as much a child of yours as it is of ours

This is a fully functional application. However, after a 24 hour demo period it will start nagging you to buy the Key, which will remove all nag
screens and timeouts from the interface. The nag screens are pretty light though, so users who dont want to spend can live with them.

This is the phone I'm testing your beta on.
Gotcha... would be nice to do that sms thing...
Yeh..Do you send emails back personally or is it automated? (I assumed it was personally since i got the email right about the time you posted here)
Or did you ONLY reply to mine cuz I'm special? loljk
Actually Tivo there are 5 different people working the support emails. Call Master is my baby, so most of the time itll be me replying to logs from it

OK guys, please sens some SMS to any number and then click "Write to us" in settings. We need to check how the SMS system functions currently.
Thanks.
ok guys after install and enabled it screws up my data cant connect to anything. I tried the restart telephony option and restart device and I still have no service. Unfortunately I have to uninstall but looks promising.
Rrrr... you have to wait 2 minutes. Wait and it will come back. I don't need people pseudo testing, I need real testing please.

I had it installed for at least 30 min data never came back and after troubleshooting. what kind of test u need? As soon as I uninstalled bam data back up. Kinda reminds me of root call blocker I purchased and I can never use it anymore because of the data issues

Boot your phone with call master enabled, then keep the screen on for 5 minutes - just keep changing screens or something - then click "write to us" in the settings menu please.
Has this issue occured on other phones or just the bionic?
Yes it has occurred before I had g2x and htc sensation both had same problem with those and it wont allow me to write to you with no data

Connect to wifi then. Or toggle wcdma or something. The vast majority of people do not have this problem so i would really like those logs.

Look. I have a sensation in front of me right now. The data comes back in 15 seconds.
I like the 15 update, thanks! Password protection is awesome!
Updated to r17,
- Tweaked password protection and hidden mode
- Added LED notifications
- Added private conversations
I can confirm that the radio never re-enables on a droid bionic. I tested with both my phone and my wife's with the same result.
Report sent.
How long did you wait, what rom/radio/kernel, and did you try "restart telephony"?
Just as a good measured test, I waited 60 minutes before trying the "restart telephony" option, then another 30 afterward. Data never returns, and there are no bars of signal. After a restart, the same thing happens once the app starts (no signal, no data).
Great looking app, very excited to have it working on our phones =D
Edit: Sorry forgot to mention, this was a fully stock bionic. The only deviation was the fact that it is rooted.
You should try with the screen on, not off. Also, i dont understand how you have no bars. Thats impossible.
Are you perhaps blocking some permissions or something?

[DEV] Looking for devs to build our free apps into their ROMs

We make a couple of very useful applications for rooted users, some of you may know and use them. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in adding one or two of the free versions to their ROM builds. Its seems like a win-win situation.
I use 2 Inc Ss myself and all these apps are well tested and working flawlessly, so there should be no issues.
The ones i think would fit well are Call Master:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1291587
Its an advanced call and SMS manager (blocking, routing, private inbox, lots of other stuff). The free version has no ads and full functionality. The only restrictions are nag screens.
Screenshot ER:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17212860
I know this may seem superfluous, but this is a proper screenshot tool with lots and lots of features. Again, theres no ads in the free version, full functionality is only restricted by a short delay.
Maybe Prepay Widget:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1006487
A USSD balance manager with higly configurable text wisgets. Its completely free, no ads.
And finally Power Switch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153788
This is something of a chimera app that does cool things like turn off the screen when you shut the case of your device. Free, no ads, only restricted by delays.
Please let me know if youre interested!
Any takers? We do make some of the coolest apps on android...
as for the power switch, does it shut the screen down upon placing the phone in your pocket? i'd like to give it a go =)
Screen off doesnt work for me on ice cold sandwich nutella

Try a different sensitivity. It works fine for me.

[APP] SwitchMe Root Profile Manager needs INCS testers please!

Hi everyone. Im one of the developers of SwitchMe, and app that allows multiple secure logins into separate installations of android on a single device. The pr is after the break.
I really need a few people to check into some issues people on some roms have been experiencing. There are some warnings involved:
- testers must perform a full nandroid backup before using the app, it is not our responsibility if you start getting boot loops
- if you report results or bugs, please use the "Write to us" function in the app whenever possible, and always describe the issue in the header of the logs you send
- if you post here, be sure to include your device type and rom
- if you have apps installed on sd, be sure to mention that as well
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
The technology behind SwitchMe saves all of your applications and data, protects it and stores it as a file in memory. You can then log out of an
account and log into a fresh installation of Android or another account with its own unique content.
You may create as many profiles as the memory is capable of holding. Some of these may require very little free memory because they contain few apps,
others will be larger as they contain many applications and lots of cache and data.
Why is this functionality useful?
Privacy - the most obvious benefit is that you can securely share one device among multiple users, which gives you privacy and peace of mind.
Testing - if you are a developer, you can use profiles as clean sandboxes to test your applications and their interaction with the system.
Gaming – with multiple installations of Android on a single device, you can now play online MMOs as different characters.
Speed - the games your kids play slow down your tablet, but with SwitchMe you can easily create profiles without games or instant messengers.
Battery life - when the battery is low but there are important emails or documents to edit later, switch to a profile which only contains these essentials.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.
Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme
The Lite version allows the creation of two profiles, enough to test on.
Screens:
Just started to test it, created 2 profiles : one main, one for testing the switching. After first switch, loading circle started, remained stuck for 10secs (same happens when switching back), then restarted. New loading screen showed up, first load took about 5-7mins. After all loaded, switchme requested SU perms and new google account interface started.
One possible bug i noticed, usually when new google account interface starts, the mobile data service is started so you would have connectivity. This time it didn't start (i had it turned off in profile 1, then switched to profile 2). Although it works properly, it just didn't start at first startup.
All my installed/downloaded applications are not included in the app drawer, so that works nice.
But a drawback i noticed. If the app is focused on the privacy part of sharing one device, gallery pics&videos are accessible from both profiles, so you might want to think of a way of restricting pics&vids accessibility only to the profile that created them (big challenge from my point of view).
All default installed application seem to work without a problem.
One strange thing i noticed, our custom ROM has Beats audio included - in profile 1 (my default one) switching Beats audio on/off works, but on profile 2 (newly created profile) switching it off makes it stuck on off (switching it back on has no effect on audio).
As i don't have a necessity for this app to run it as a daily profile switcher, can't test more in-depth scenarios, but if you want something tested/have a scenario, write it up here or send a PM. Good luck with the development.
Using Nik IncredibleS Trinity SensationXL4.0 ROM (2.3.5 android with 3.5 sense) with included 2.6.35.14 RCMIX VIVO kernel (with my HTC Incredible S S710e).
SwitchMe 1.2 has been rolled out and now includes a lockscreen replacement:
1.2
Added lock screen for logging in and out
More stable Fast switch implementation
Reworked UI colors
Now, its very important that we get some feedback on how this big new feature works, so please read up on it in the help and post your thoughts!
1.2.2 - HOTFIX 2
Reworked widget on qHD+ displays
Fixed widget text on HC and ICS
Fast switch improved on older devices
So guys, anything to report?
1.4.3.7
Fixed device specific switch screen crashes and issues
Fixed UI bug in switch screen preferences
If anyohe had problems with superuser before, this should fix them. Please let me know if that is the case, its important we get some feedback here!
Anything to report regarding yesterday's release?
By the way we released a new app today some of you might also find useful, you can find it here:

- Only bug/or maybe a feature I noticed is The app itself have different settings between logons. I mean If I optimize in one logon, I must made the same changes in other account too. Its sometimes frustating.
- And the setting "logout automatically" not worked correctly. When I speak to someone on phone and proximty turn of the screen, and I remove phone from my ear, It shows the logon screen, everytime.
Seems like everything worked flawlesly. But I have a question. What happens if I uninstall the program?

looking for someone with call screen without mods

Version 41 of Google phone deprecates the growthkit backend, and also breaks call screen for phones that don't have it stock. Because super packs (call screen is a super pack) are handled by the job scheduler. And I can't get that to start working properly.
Ideally I'd like the files from /data/data/com.google.android.dialer/shared_prefs
These files may or may not contain your phone number so feel free to PM or something.
I have access to the files from people who don't have call screen with mods/non us users. I just need to see what flags and such are enabled and what values to see if it's still a "port-able" feature. So please make sure you have call screen as a stock feature. Since that's what I'm looking for
I'm pretty sure Google isn't intentionally breaking call screen. They've just modernized parts of the backend which also means we need new flags and such set.

A mod can close this. I got it working
