Without the stagefright tweak you can go up to 1800 . Just need to run the test few times And hope for the best. Also you can go with the stagefright tweak to 2500

I just had to.

Reliable ones? Benchmarks only test a specific workload.. You aren't testing how fast applications run, you are testing how fast the benchmark runs. There doesn't have to be a direct correlation

If there had been no correlation then benchmarks wouldn't have been used at all, that's not accurate.

You can easily get over 3000 with an ext2 loopback ontop of ext4 plus an overclock. But that's beside the point.
What matters is how it feels and performs day to day, that's more personal opinion. Quadrant is virtually useless IMO.
If you want a "true" quadrant score for what the Galaxy S is capable of without cheating/overclocking, you're probably looking at between 1600-1800 depending on ROM and filesystem.

I never said there wasn't. But, benchmarks are useless unless you actually know what you are testing..
Case in point, you have 1 program that does lots of writing (barely any reading), and a benchmark program.
If you increase reading speed by 6%, but decrease writing speed by 5%, a benchmark which treats reading and writing equally will give you a better score. Unfortunately, your app will be slower though. Of course, an increase in both will lead to a faster score, but so can other circumstances.
Most benchmarks aren't useless to everyone. Only to MOST users. Developers on the other hand who understand the benchmark and what they are optimising for, maybe would find them more useful..
In-game benchmarks although are useful out of the box, because they test performance of a specific workload/benchmarks. Every time someone optimises their phone to run a generic benchmark though, a kitten dies.

Only "improvement" I can see, is increased FPS number in Quadrant benchmark 3D tests, but score and performance looks same for me... Those 3D tests run and look same as they did before...

Not for me. Without this i got 2800 at first test with this directly 3100-3200.
nice one, stumbled over that thread some minutes ago and was going to post it too... beat me to it eh?
anyways, same here, no errors, works great, just try riptide gp :>
OMG !
now i got 65 fps in the planet test !
score 2700 > 3200
Running morfic's extra UV kernel, quadrant up a little, but the difference with the planets is huge. Looks lovely!

Almost a year later and finally fixed Too bad lazy developer never just fixed quadrant in first place for NS
Got to luv XDA, much appreciated.
Does this only fix quadrant or does it actually help games also?
EDIT
tested
quadrant 3D bench finally works correctly. "Benchmark" is still **** though
Games performance ...its hard to tell since most games run smooth on NS
my gameloft FPS games seem slightly smoother but
would be able to tell if we could display fps while playing a game...lol fraps for android
Even though this does help in some cases its got to have some negative effects Elsewhere i mean you're removing what looks to be a system driver
someone with galaxy s phone with 2.3 should back up this file and upload here since galaxy s doesn't seem to have this problem with quadrant maybe just replacing file with Samsung driver will work also...idk

IPhone 5 beats nexus 7 and gs3 in benchmarks?

Did anyone hear about this? Apparently the iPhone 5 beat the nexus 7 and gs3 in benchmarks
These were the scores
IPhone : 1601
Nexus 7 : 1591
Samsung galaxy s3 : 1560
I don't put much emphasis on benchmarks because I know the scores really don't tell u anything compared to actually using the phone for performance. However, I do think the only reason why iPhone won here is because the OS doesn't do very much multitasking so it may be a bit faster in that regard
Any thoughts?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Benchmarks aren't meant to be compared between different OS's. The iPhone has a lower screen resolution, an OS that works completely different than Android and FSM knows what else Apple did with it's internals.

You're not listening. Results between devices with different screen resolutions aren't comparable. The iPhone has 294400 less pixels in it's screen, so it uses less processing power to display images for the test. Ergo the tests aren't comparable.
As you said yourself in the OP, benchmarks don't mean anything at all, to be honest.
The only true way of noticing the difference between devices is to own the devices and using them. No benchmark ever can create a score based on pure usability.
I'm a product of the system I was born to destroy!
The S3 score is wrong. S3 scored 1751 (i posted the link in my previous post).

yeah apparently that benchmark score is with jellybean already running on the S3. Says so in the link that i provided as well.
"063_XOBX" look man, I really don't care about the benchmark scores; I just want to know what people think of this ludicrous article. I was reading the comments and its absurd. Some people really do care about these numbers. IMO, all this article and apple have in common is the number. the price for the iPhone 5 lol
Yeah, but then if you OC that iPhone 5, install a custom iOS build, tweaks, etc.... oh, ****. That's Android. My bad.
Ooooh right so comparing benchmarks of two devices using different os platforms. This is sick they should just take iPhone off benchmarking ,it's os uses less resources and it still has a small screen, soo WTF are they saying

[POLL] CPU Binning

Hey fellow Nexus 4 owners, I heard a lot of rumors that the "Nexus 4 uses left-over parts" from the Optimus G. To that end, I want to find out the general quality of our CPUs.
Basically, when Qualcomm makes the APQ8064 chip that you see in our Nexus 4, there are 4 different "types" based on how it meets their quality standards. These are Slow, Nominal, Fast, and Faster. The main difference IIRC between these types is how stable each can handle undervolting. CPUs that are "Fast" for example come pre-configured at a lower nominal voltage than a "Nominal" type CPU, and more so than a "Slow" type. (Does this account for how some people's phones generate less heat? Maybe, maybe not. IIRC, there's like only a -100mV difference between Faster and Slow out of the box, however Faster CPUs should be able to handle lower voltages than Slow-type.)
To find out what binned CPU you have, I recommend the following:
YOU MUST BE ROOTED!
1) Install Terminal Emulator
2) Reboot your phone
3) Open Terminal Emulator, and type:
Code:
su
dmesg | grep PVS
A line should be outputted that tells you what type you have.
For example, mine is NOMINAL. http://i.imgur.com/MUXrs.png
Please post your results in the following poll! (This poll began on /r/Nexus4, so rather than recreating the poll using XDA's system, I'm hoping to just get more results from here.)

Temple Run 2 HighScore thread

Hello.
First of all, I know we have a Gaming thread, but I think that's about general gaming on Nexus 4, recommendations, and techniques.
This thread is about only Temple Run 2. This game has clocked 5M+ downloads in first week so I think we should have one.
post your high score: with screenshot
I'll try to keep the first post updated with the username and score + screenshot of the number one player.
Let's keep it fun and game. Eh? No cheat codes please.
When you get your high score in the hall of fame you instantaneously have the bragging rights to show to your friends.
@moderators: I was not sure if this should be in Themes & Apps, so I posted it here because IMO its not an app I'm introducing so it shouldn't go there. Feel free to move it of you will

As im still waiting on my N4 I havent played this on android yet so I can not submit a high score. However I have played both the first and second on iOS and while enjoying the first one, the second is horrible and lagging like no other game I have ever played on iOS. I'm hoping that on android it will run much smoother. To put into perspective, my high score on the first one was ~18 mil, in TR2 I think I may have been able to break 1mil only once.

You need 1 million total distance and 500k total coins before you can even get to level 9. And that takes ages
I'm sure there's lots of people out there with higher scores though. I saw 36 mil on some iphone screenshot.

all CPU are nt the same, even if a very strenght process control there always be difference between two unit, the CPU are not matched pair
so there are some of them able to work on lower UV other no, some can handle overclocking better than other and so on
if you have a faster cpu PSV=4 you could have better perfomance in terms of overclocking or battery usage lowering voltage
for sure even in case of lower binning your N5 will fly...

Yeah I'm pretty sure the difference isn't huge yet I think on the N4 the difference from 0-4 was big enough to cause concern. I had an N4 with a 0 (or 1 before 4.3) and its battery life wasn't as good as the one with a 3. I probably got on average 15-30 minutes more, and of course you can under volt a lot more on a better chip which can make a pretty big difference.
I couldn't get it to work... any suggestions? I am rooted.

Man, this sucks, I'm the slow kid. I got the PVS 2, returned .9xx. I checked it earlier, it's being a little strange though - sometimes the command works and logs all the information, sometimes it won't log anything at all. Hopefully when I check again later it'll give me a higher binning like the other guy. Probably not though. I did get fastest on my N4, so I guess you can't win them all.
