[Q] Flashable Stock Browser file? - Xoom Themes and Apps

Hello everyone!!
So i got myself a WiFi Xoom and rooted it. By mistake uninstalled the stock browser with titanium backup and now its gone from the system. Can any of you please provide me with a flashable file so i can flash it via recovery and restore app?
I tried getting the apk from one of the system dumps on the developer section but when i try to install it i get the message "App not Installed".

did you move the apk to system/app and give it correct permissions rw/r/r?

I tried to copy the apk to the system/app folder using ES file exlorer but it does not let me, and i dont know how to set the correct permissions.

Use RootExplorer, it does all mentioned stuff

Put the apk into this file. Put it in the system/app folder and flash in recovery.

Thanks!!!!! this worked very well. Thanks to all that replied.

I've Lost My Browser
EDITED:::Nvmd, replaced browser.apk with the ones from system dump, as mentioned in OP, and that resolved my issue of not being able to use the stock browser.

Help - Deleted Apps

Okay, I rooted and deleted apps before there was a recovery. Now I want to put the apps back on before recovery and backup. I'd like to have these apps on my phone should I need to return the phone. Problem is, I deleted "Guided Tours" and "News" and I have no idea where to find these apps. Everything else is on my phone. Any suggestions?
Go use the sbf or what ever its called now. Flash Your phone then reroot then do what You need to do.

Here are the files you wanted. They are in zip format and have the corresponding .odex files. Place these in your /system/app folder and be sure to to change the permissions to rw-r-r-- on each file.

Just run the FXZ(Formerly SBF) if you want to install an OTA, if/when one comes out. No need to get your apps back just to make a stock backup. The FXZ gets you back to stock.

I have both zip files in /system/app - do I extract these here and install? When I clicked on permissions - I changed it to - Owner: write, Group: read, Others: read. Is that correct?
Right now what I see in my /system/app is GuidedTours.apk and NewsWidget.apk. I don't see any ODEX files

Unzip this to /system/app then change permissions.
XDA doesn't allow .odex files to be upload - says unknown file type.
This might come in handy for you. It's my /system/app dump all apks and.odex files from stock bionic.

I know it's the long way round, but you could probably extract it from this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283081
So I gave it a try and it worked. Just drop the apk into /system/app/ set the permissions and reboot.

Im assuming you have a file manager installed (Root Explorer, Es File Explorer)
You have to long press the app, after moving into proper folder /sysstem/app/ and set the same permissions as the others (I cant remember which ones they are exactly but you will be able to tell once in the file system).

You didnt follow the instructions. You shouldnt be trying to install anything because the .apk's are not signed.
However, if you move supernote.apk and supernote.odex into system/app and set proper permissions and then reboot it will work.
still cant install this app. I move both supernote.apk and supernote.odex to system/app. try to set permission in many different ways, but this app still not be installed. i guess i give up.

Are you setting the permissions exactly the same as all other apps in system/app and are you rebooting?
I cant remember which set worked for me - I downloaded the Dump and the ROM but I know one didnt work.
Try both.

Yes, there are two types of permission: rw-rw-rw and rw-r-r. I alredy tried and reboot but still didnt work. I download the dump image. Trying down the Rom now.
---------------
Ok. Using the .apk from the ROM, i got the app installed but FC upon opening.
---------------
finally, got the app working.
+ get the app from ROM link, not the dump link
+ copy supernote.apk to sytem/app
+ using root explorer/es file explorer, set permission : read-write for user-group-and other (rw-rw-rw).
+ reboot
Can someone please save everyone a lot of trouble and post the .apk from the ROM?
here is the link for the app: http://www.multiupload.com/GX9O2CTQ1W

need (my files) app on captivate

does anyone know if there is a .tar file or something so i could flash the my files app on my cappy that usually comes on the cappy with the official firmwares? i just need some kind of file to do that because i dont like astro and es file manager, etc. even a link to somewere where this has been done before would help, thanks.
Why use that when the others have a **** ton more functionality? Like root file exploration.
Do you have any .tar stock firmware package? Open that archive with 7zip and go to /system/app and drag it out...then use a root file explorer (lolz oh the irony) to drop it in /system/app
Or use adb to push it there
Or get a theme cwm zip package and delete all the files out of the folders (not touching the meta-inf folder) and drop it in /system/app and flash that.

I did indeed LOL
hmm...i think im gonna get the cwm package and just do that, do you have any link on one of those, if not then how can i get or look one of those up?
any theme zip will do, just not a ROM zip that has a kernel and modem in it you don't need top flash the theme zips ate just system apk files you can delete out and add your apk in. Make sure only that apk is in it though.
Hold on...I'll hey you a link where i posted a test zip you can use.
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22271929&postcount=1403
In that post is a cwm zip, open that archive with 7zip go to /system/app delete what's there and drop that apk in. Then flash that in recovery.
ya well it didnt work..
Ya well you give more detail we can help.... "It didn't work" isn't very helpful for trouble shooting...
it said that the installation was aborted
What version of cwm do you have?
Or are you on an aosp ROM?
Just use a root explorer, go in and unzip any file that has it in it, then go to the extracted folder, long press on it and hit COPY, then back out until your at SYSTEM and paste it, then look for the file in SYSTEM and long press on it and choose permissions, then change it so it matches the SAME PERMISSIONS in SYSTEM/APP, then once you have the permissions correct long press on it and move it into SYSTEM/APP and hit PASTE. them REBOOT the phone and it will be in there and working. NO NEED to try flashing it in cwm. This MAY sound like a lot of work but it is VERY EASY AND FOOL PROOF.

Ok rockratt...first of all...when i tried putting the file in system...
It said failed, and also what do you mean to fix the permisions?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
It failed because you need to mount that partition r/w instead of the default r/o...should be an option for that on the root file explorer you used.

As studacris said make sure to set it to read/write. When using ROOT EXPLORER you will see a button towards the top the probably says MOUNT R/W click on it and then paste it to SYSTEM( the reason I say to paste it to SYSTEM first so you can change the apparently permissions before moving it into SYSTEM/APP since it will ask to overwrite a version of itself if it is already there. To change the permissions just long press, choose permissions, then click the appropriate boxes to make it have the correct permissions before placing it in.

Pasting to /system and Changing permissions shouldn't be needed.
And if it is..boot into recovery, go to advanced, and fix permissions

I think I screwed up..

I have canned a lot of apk's recently.
Now I notice when my wifi scans it won't show any networks/SSID's. But if I manually enter one, it will connect.
Any ideas? It may not be related to the apk's I don't know
An apk file is an installation file - it installs an app. Once the app is installed you can delete the apk. So I doubt one has anything to do with the other.

Download UrDroid from the development section. Open the zip and goto /system/app and copy them to your SDcard into a folder (so you don't clutter the root of your storage)
Reboot into safe strap
Click on mount
Select /system
Back out
Goto advanced
Select file manager
navigate to the folder on your SDCard
Copy them into your /system/app folder
When your done fix permissions and reboot
If your nice, pm me and I will make you a flashable zip

If that were the case, I'd have very few apps on my phone. I always delete the apk file (as soon as I back it up to my normal backup locations, which are on devices other than the phone).
An apk is actually a zip file with a different extension. (Rename it .zip and open it in Winzip - you'll see.) It's an installer. Once the app has been installed you no longer need the installer.
If you've deleted apk files and had your apps disappear, you're doing something in addition to removing the apk files. (I normally put apk files on the root of my external SD card, so I don't need a rooted program to delete them.)

I've added/deleted/modified files in /system/app with just root file explorer, back before safestrap existed for the N3 - you do not need safestrap to fiddle with /system/app - you can do it with root file explorer (remember to set the permissions correctly - 644 iirc).

[Q] MTP Application 1.0 APK

Hey guys! So I successfully managed to root my Galaxy S Advance running stock 4.1.2 Jellybean (Italian firmware I9070XXLQL) and installed SuperSU and TitaniumBackup. I was uninstalling unnecessary bloatware using a couple of lists made by other forum members. One of the apps I deleted was called MTP Application 1.0 (I think?) because it is only required for connecting to a computer via Kies and I don't use that anymore (Android File Transfer all the way!) But now my phone does not get recognised by AFT at all. Unfortunately I'm a klutz and forgot to make a backup of the application before deleting so now it cannot be recovered. Can someone possibly provide me with the APK? It is a system application and I have granted root access to ES File Explorer. Just need the application itself. Thanks!
Edit: I've already searched online and can't find the APK anywhere on the Internet.
Here you go. I attached the file. I use xxlql deodexed and pulled this from the preload partition. I think you must put this apk in the app folder on preload partition and give it permissions. Good Luck.

You must be rooted. Once you are done rooting your device you must install root explorer or es file explorer. Then grant root permissions to that app. Now move the apk file to preload/app folder in root of the device. Then choose properties of the apk file and set permissions. You can youtube the procedure. Good luck.
