[Q] Cyanogen Mod7 Galaxy S 04212011 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it just me, or on the newest build of CM7 on the Galaxy s, when using Gingerbread Launcher, the icons are blurred (not sharp). Have not tried any other launcher as yet, can someone confirm this

Yeah, you are correct. Ever since the build from the 20th actually. May have something to do with the new video drivers?
Try submitting this in the Cyanogenmod 7 thread, it's a legitimate concern as it worked fine in the past.

thanks for confirming that, will try and submit it to CM7 forums :')

AOSP ROM for Galaxy S GT-i9000

Hello All,
I am looking for a ROM like Nexus S rom. I tried PmDroid AOSP 0.2 and CM7 but i did not like because major features dont work.(3G,Fm Radio,720p recording etc..)
Can you suggest me a AOSP ROM which is working with all features. If it is impossible I will buy Nexus S instead of my Galaxy S.
Thanks and regards,
Hasan.
As of today, only CyanogenMod 7 is fit for that. It is still buggy. However, just today the Samsung sources for GB have been released. This means that CyanogenMod will be able to put all those features to work. Just wait a bit and you'll see magic.

Anyone building NEWER CM7 7.2 KANGS fkr the cdma versions?

I was wondering if anyone is building kang builds of CM7? I am using the JT's CM7 as well as CM9 ALPHA. On my samsung captivate and samsung galaxy s2 I am using CM7 KANG builds. The CM7 Builds have quite a bit of NEW changes recently accross all platforms. So I switch back and forth from CM9 and CM7 frequently on my SGS1 captivate and we have devs that are still adding the newer changes frkm the cm7 builds since the cm7 teams are focusing on CM9.
Some of the newer changes lately have been T9 dialer, newer lockscreens along with many functional changes. So I have been scouring around and have seen that the GSM models have newer kang builds but havent found any NEWER kangs for the cdma versions. If i have missed it and you know the links let me know and i will then continue to search if you cannot link to it.
I am new to the tabs but have been flashing roms, mods, etc. Since I got my captivate almost 2 years ago. I have never set up any pc to build my own enviroment since all my pcs are still on W-XP. SO i may want to do this in the future. I DO LOVE CM9 but I also love how well CM7 runs with basically everything fixed completely to my satisfaction aand things like Theme Chooser which I am sure in time CM9 will have once it is past alpha stage. Thanks for any links or ideas to follow up on ahead of time.
Ps. I specifically have the Sprint Galaxy Tab 7 and am ONLY usong it as a wifi device since I do not want/have a sprint account and am stuck with att at this time.

Best\Most Stable Rom?

Hi i just bought a new Hp touchpad.
I want to know what is the best rom for it.
I know that there are cyanogen 7 and 9 ports.
There are things that are not working on some of them , so if cynogen 7 is working and stable i think i would install that and wait for cyanogen 9 to become stable.
Can you give some advice , what to do , which rom shoud i install.
Thank you , and sorry if this is a noob question
CM9 alpha 2, its stable and actually running better than cm7
There are also several "kang" builds in the Dev section. I've been running CherryKang lately, with good results.
Thans guys , so have you had any problems with these roms?
Except the camera are there some other quirks?
And do you know how long is the period between releases ?
Thanks again

The cherryrom still doesn't have Netflix working but has HD YouTube working (it states that in his top post). The nightlies have everything working from alpha2 with only a couple changes that will be merged into the next official release anyways. The cornerstone ROM is really slow and bricked ROM hasn't seen public releases after alpha2. And there's protekk's AOKP and classnerd, neither have Netflix working either.
I say go for the nightly. And I guess development has slowed because everyone is waiting on dalingrin for new stuff. I'm guessing the kernel is going to be updated to 3.0 and or they're working on audio.
Samsung Captivate CM9 - Glitch Kernel | HP TouchPad CM9 - Bricked Kernel
I honestly haven't tried Netflix (I guess it's not working), and only a few games. There are a few notable ones that don't work, but for normal stuff it's all good. The main problem that I've had with CM (I've only used CM9 and skipped CM7), is that the TP will essentially lock up, often times when charging on the touchstone charger. That said, ever since upgrading to the latest CherryKang (0.9), I haven't had a single issue (knock on wood). I have tried Bricked and the official CM9 alpha and both did the same thing, so I think it's just a Cm issue (there are a few similar issues going around, it seems).
Go for AOKP.
M4 has working netflix and youtube.
I personally haven't found a rock solid rom , but there are a few that are really close to it. I'd say try the new cherry-kang v9.2 with o/c , HD youtube' + netkflix etc. Syn(3.10.2012). Its fast and reliable. I have to reset my Wi-Fi the least with this one.
I'm running aokp and nextflix and YouTube work no problem for me

I'd have to agree with the above post, the latest CherryKang (standard cm9 version, not the bricked rom) has proven the most stable for me. Unless you expect to be using the camera/microphone a great deal on the TouchPad, I would definitely suggest taking the jump to CM9.
I did just flash the Cornerstone 1.1 rom w/ 120 DPI patch, and although there have been a couple of very minor glitches, it's performing fairly well so far. (I was forced to reboot my TP-audio distortion- and my wifi reconnected without me having to use the forget the network/reboot rescue method. I haven't personally tried the AOKP Milestone 4 rom, so you might want to check out that thread and decide for yourself.
As for your question on release dates, other than the nightlies, they come out whenever the developer has something new to put out. Since I've been following these forums, it's generally taboo to openly ask a developer for the next release date. Doing so may make you susceptible to verbal reprimand from other members. Personally I'm not blasting you, but I don't want to see someone else fire back at you in a more harsh manner in the future.
Good luck with whichever rom you decide to flash!
HTC Thunderbolt - Shifts3ns3 3.1; HP Touchpad CherryKang v9.2;
I've recently been running AOKP M4 with great results, I like it
CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 2 is also fantastic
I wouldn't really suggest any others though.
I have cm9 on mine and Wifi doesn't reconnect a lot after waking from sleep. Ill check out this cherry one I guess.

I'd vote for AOKP. Its running really well on my touchpad.

[ROM][NIGHTLY] CyanogenMod 7 Nightlies Discussion

CyanogenMod for the Vibrant currently contains intermittent issues with the emergency dialing system. I strongly urge you NOT to use CyanogenMod on the Vibrant until they can be fixed.
Help by testing a test CM9 build for it
awesome! nice to have you as "The bringer of CyanogenMod", if it wasn't for this great community, vibrant would be dead!
I know you aren't in charge of these things Fault but any idea when we'll get a new nightly?

By the looks of it, we might get one tonight.

Working atm
I don't even know who the specific cm7 vibrantmtd mantainer is (if any), that's why I asked if the project had been declared dead. No sign of activity since late February, while other phones have been getting constantly updated nightly builds. There will be a reason for sure.
°_° The OP guy is the maintainer, and we will have cm7 nightlies either this week or next. Cm servers are being upgraded...

Glacier hasn't had any since ours.
Captivate has had 1 since ours.
Fascinate hasn't had any since ours.
Galaxy S hasn't had any since Feb 16th.
It doesn't mean that it's dead...
does this mean what i think it means
cm: Tag 7.2.0-RC1
looks like cm7/gingerbread is reaching its ripeness!

It still lacks proper TV out (no hardware decoding). And I'm not sure whether the mute/unmute bug has been solved or even whether the GPS is truly functional... apart from those, yep, the ROM seems quite stable...
O never really use TV out or GPS so I wouldn't know, but the mute/unmute should be fixed by now,
the mainteiner is that one who deals with device specific bugs...ask him what's the status with those two.

I'm not sure if the mute-unmute bug is localized to Vibrant. (The changelog was copied from Captivate, which said the mute-unmute was hopefully fixed, Galaxy S also says it.)
(I'm not saying I won't I'll look into it though)
The mute-unmute bug is not fixed. I don't know about TV out, my cable is faulty. raymonddull tested it for me, he got black and white, which is more than I got, but his cable was faulty too!
GPS is most likely poo. Just flash YAGF2 or what ever works for you.
update-cm-7-20120226-NIGHTLY-vibrantmtd. Never work on my vibrant cause of the systemUI error. Are they going to build another nightly or is this the end of the nightly build?

TV out works but only partially. Its quality is worse than Froyo's (Samsung's official) and it shows a black screen when someone tries to play a hardware accelerated video.
The mute/unmute bug most of the times is there.
GPS may work to some, it won't to most and the fixes are hit or miss on equal measure. Personally I have last had my GPS working on Froyo days. I know it's not a big deal for most people here on XDA, but for the rest of the world (outside XDA) GPS is kind of a big deal and it's one of those modules that makes smartphones to be "smart"...
Anyhow the situation for CM7 (on our Vibrant) is about the same as in those GB ports from i9000; i.e. most things work, not all. If one needs the full experience of the phone *has to* go back to Froyo ... sadly.

Yes, everything works on Froyo as intended... in fact because TV out is a feauture I often use (useful for presentations and such) I often have to go back to Froyo...
update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-vibrantmtd-signed.zip is up now on get.cm
Btw, anyone else not seeing "CyanogenMod Nightlies" in Premium Rom Manager? I used to, but it was quite some time ago.

New nightly cooking now: http://jenkins.cyanogenmod.com/job/android/304/
I'll start a build each night for one, until automatic nightlies are sorted out.
EDIT: Hmm, looks like there is a problem right now. I'll try again tomorrow.

[Q] STOCK Jelly Bean ROM for SGSIII LTE (i9305)?

Hello!
I've flashed many a ROM to my old HTC DHD, but have recently upgraded to the Samsung SG3 LTE (i9305). I've yet to root, but was wondering if anyone has deveoped a Stock jelly bean rom for this device yet? By stock, I don't mean stock Samsung/Touchwiz, I mean stock, unbranded Jelly bean, the pure google experience like you would find on the Nexus 4.
I've searched and have yet to find anything. I don't post much but follow the forums and flash a lot, so go easy on me!
Any help or a nod in the right direction would be great.
Thanks
Tweedskin
Yeah... you're out of luck; in short, there are no such ROMs.
Codeworkx recently made a Cyanogenmod tree, but right now the RIL isn't working, so you can't actually use your phone as a phone. Unfortunately, Codeworkx doesn't actually own an I9305, and has no desire to deal with Samsung's less-than-supportive approach to development. There was also an earlier build made by LarryTheCow that had a working RIL, but no microphone support and no GPS. Amplified is still working on a port, but, as far as I'm aware, hasn't got very far.
There are very few developers in possession of this phone, and fewer still who are able and willing to work on such a port. I wouldn't hold your breath on this, and honestly, if you really want an AOSP ROM, then you should probably just sell your I9305. If you just want something that looks broadly similar to stock, there are a few ROMs in the development section that include a JB Domination theme, the stock launcher and a few other stock apps, which gets fairly close. You can also use Swipe Dialler and Sliding Messaging to get something broadly resembling the stock dialler and messaging apps. But it's definitely a shame that a phone with excellent hardware lacks developers to support it.
As of this morning there wasn't but about an hour ago it appears it has been updated and re uploaded with the sim card and connection working.

Yes, I thought that was probably the case!
Thanks for the reply and info....think I'm gonna hold out for another view weeks, then sell it and get a Nexus 4 if nothing is around. I use a Nexus 7 and switching between that and the S3 is akin to switching between Windows 8 and windows 7.
Nexus 4 it is! Cheers!

It was the case then, now the only significant bug with the CM10 ROM is that bluetooth headsets have very poor audio quality. Everything else is working.
