Modifying the Notification bar - Android Themes

Ok, somebody please help me out here before i go insane. Ive read countless threads and forums on this and it makes absolutely NO SENSE AT ALL.
im running Darky's newest Rom, rc4. with the Steelblue theme overtop of it.
Right now im trying to further modify the notification bar, more specifically im trying to change the the color of bar that says "On Going" and is circled in Pink.
also want to change the bottom of the pulldown bar also circled in pink.
And if possible i would like to change the background part that is circled in green.
since theres this new post rule its not letting me post a screenshot but the link is below
members.shaw.ca/ignite1/screenshot.png
i have tried editing all the status_bar_XXXXX.png files in the framework-res.apk, but i havnt been able to change the stuff i have circled. Partly because i dont think im even looking at the right files, as in there not in the framework.apk
someone help me out please!

Im pretty sure you are using a samsung
So, those images you wanted to change are in twframework.apk

For Gingerbread roms, those files are in SystemUI.apk

Theme related question

I've been playing around with a few themes and trying some stuff myself, mostly unsuccessfully, but a side effect is that now that I have it looking kinda how I want it I have one issue I can't figure out. The notification bar text, not all of it, just the very top with the date and time, is white. That makes it practically unreadable but I have no idea what file to tweak in which apk. The only options I have are to cry or see if anyone here can point me to the right thing to smack into shape. Anyone?
I realise this is a question and should technically be in Q&A but it's theme related.
you can use colorChange to change the text color, or you can reflash your rom. the clock and date and such are in services.jar, and the notification text is at framework-res.apk/res/layout/status_bar.xml

Transparent/Translucent Blind for Modaco 3.0 and Clear Theme?

Guys and gals, this is my first post, having only recently rooting and theming my Orange UK Hero, I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to create me a small .zip of a translucent Notification Blind that I can install on top of my other Theme?
Im new to all of this and hope to be able to edit and package my own Updates soon, but for now..............
Looking for the exact same thing. Hower not fully transparet, only like 50% opacity. Would look sweet..
cheers
I was wondering and asking for the same thing thanks for asking slimjimwoods

We are talking about the translucent blind the notification bar.

That looks pretty close, is there a theme that has semi transparent notifications too? I'll have a browse about and see if I can find one. If not then that'll be the next best thing
I would like a stand-alone skin for just the notificationbar. Today I use the clear as a bell theme and i would like to take it a step further with transparent natificationbar. It would look sweet... =)
Anyone sitting on a zip of what i need?
bump im afraid folks
i would do it for you guys but im not sure about something..
since all the themes iv done involve replacing "whole" apps, you would loose part of your current theme..
so unless you can remove files from an apk that arnt going to be changed, i cant help
anyone know?
to re -word... when you apply a theme, is the folder of the app replaced (in which case any files that were removed in theme, would not be on your phone anymore causing problems) or is it file to file meaning only files in side a folder that are "present" in the theme will be replaced on the phone?
i dont know enough about it to be sure, but the way i saw it, would be to replace/change the .png that currently draws down behind the notification area, just have its opacity reduced by 50%. Im probably way off on this........
what app would the notification area be? is it an individual app that can be messed with?
not really, thats why i asked what i asked... if i change just the notifications, it will change peoples themes

[help] changing network text colour in notification bar

hey sorry for asking but tis bugging me like hell i changed the date but i cant change the time to white and in the notification bar the network text colour is still black when i want it white. im using the fender v2 its stable and got htc music which is what i want i have been theming it to my taste. ive read the colourchage.jar but thats for cynogen and ive read other posts and one had a line 4115 and change it in that but in status bar it only goes just under line 2000
all im askin for is what files do i need to access i think i know what ones but to make sure.
what file to change the colour of the clock and what file to change the network text colour in notification bar when its open.
if you can do it detailed itll help too.
thanks codex
p.s sry for hassle ive been doing this for 2 days now
You need to learn how to edit xml for android to edit that notification colors. I used the colorchanger.jar on Eugenes 2.1 eclair rom and it worked for me so It's not only for Cyanogen. I used the go full command aswell so it can be made to a full rom. I just learned to do this yesterday so I'm sure you will understand too
Yeah. Managed to change it, it turned red so I delted the high16 letters and it turned white the only problem was the network text colour. Only prob is I don't know how to use colour changer. Instead I resorted to pushing and puling files as well as editting the classes.dex

[MORPH] REQUEST - Black status bar for stock roms

like the subject says....
i have a rooted telus milestone..so i can't install roms...
i can however have fun with metamorph...
i've been dying for a black status bar with white font/time...
but all the ones i've found are for roms (dwang or whatever, cy, etc)
i was wondering if one exists for stock roms so we can just use it with metamorph...
thanks!
Creating a MetaMorph file is pretty easy and all you would need to do is dig through the ROM an figure out where those files are and what they are called.
definitely...i took a semi proactive approach and did edit a bunch of things just to test them out...
i was just working a huge week this week and didn't have time to sit aorund and mess with my phone, hehe
i still haven't found a metamorph that changes the font colour of the clock/notifications/etc in the notification bar...
also, i'm trying to figure out how to change the icons of an installed (non-stock) app...there are few mickey mouse ways to do, but not guide per se...if i have time, on wednesday, i'll write one up if i figure it out...

KF1 Theme Problem

I have been theming a KF1 build from the leaked KF1 firmware (Now have moved on to Cognition 5.2 but have the same problem) and have run into one seemingly small problem - - the drop down shade shows black text on the very first notification (for Lookout app). Please see attached screenshot.
I haven't been able to find the correct xml file to edit. Does anyone know of the "usual" file I need to edit to show white text instead of the black?
I apologize if this question has been answered before and I appreciate any help given.
ADDITION: I posted this in the Q&A section and have gotten no response. Hopefully someone will know a solution.
It also occurred to me yesterday to try and lighten the background to make the black text more visible. I'm currently trying that path but if anyone can tell me which text color attribute in which xml file for what apk to change to white, I would be grateful.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
That is because that notification is run by Lookout, you would have to edit/change some settings in Lookout to get the text to be white.

Thank you....I thought of that but I'm kind of bummed because Lookout updates semi-constantly. After an update I assume the text would go back to black.
I'll try it and see......stay tuned!
EDIT: Can't seem to find the apk for Lookout (not in system/apps) which makes sense since it is a security app. Oh, well....trying opacity with the background next
any chance of you uploading your theme at all?

srsly, looks sexy
You could try to do what I thought up of and make the background for notifications a gradient so though black text would still be harder to read, it wouldn't be invisible.

I will create a full CWM zip file tomorrow and upload it here.
My DSL is down until my ISP brings a new modem tomorrow.
Please know that I didn't do anything extraordinary...just changed some png files from some roms I liked as well as changed some colors here and there. I will try to give some credit where I remember.
I did add the AOSP lockscreen mod as well as the ui mod. Let me figure out who to credit so we all can recognize all the talented devs we all rely upon as well as admire.
Thank you for your interest and consideration!

I tried to upload my theme and screenshots but I think I uploaded the wrong files.
I did a complete reinstall of Cog 5 v2 to check the theme and it seems I'm missing something.
Oh well....learning here. Stay tuned!
I started fresh but am having problems making the shade background transparent.
Every graphic I can think of in SystemUI and Framework-res are 10-50% transparent and all I get is this gray background on the shade. Maddening!!
I borrowed the shade graphic from Blue Darkness just to test (in case anyone unzips the files) so I can see if I get a transparent shade.
Any suggestions would be apppreciated. Thanks!
ADDITION: For some reason every screenshot app I use discolors the blues and the reds/oranges. I apologize for the weird screenshots.
I am confused, what are you trying to do?
Oh, and protip, use ddms.bat in your tools folder of your sdk for screenshots. Not only is it easier to get the screenshots onto your computer (cause they already are...) they won't be scewy.

The apk is probably in data/app since you had to install it!
