REMEMBER Turn on Wi-Fi - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is mainly common sense, but it DOES happen.(just did!) Don't forget to turn on and connect Wi-Fi (if you have access) before starting Titanium Backup after a ROM flash. Just thought I would share my "woops"!

why do you think this is necessary?
TitaniumBackup restores from LOCAL files. The network doesnt have anything to do with it.

Do you mean like games and redownloading data for game... You might want to give a little more detail cause as recently said the information is saved on as

Ok. Guess I should have thought about the "local" data. Can a mod please delete this as not to confuse anyone. Sorry

Just rooted, Now what?

This is the first time I have ever been near or used an Android phone. I got my i9000 a few days ago and have started messing about with widgets etc. I have been reading this forum for a few months prior to owning an Android phone as technology interests me. I was following a home screen thread and realized I had to root my Galaxy S to be able to take screenshots. Then I found the One Click Lag Fix app that was on the Android market. The lag was something that was really bothering me and now its running really smooth.
So now I have root what else should I do to my phone?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
A couple apps I use that need root access: mybackup pro and root explorer.
Have fun
I'll be sure to check them out. Anyone else?

This is what I thought too. Apart from backing up to the average user, there doesn't seem to be a lot to do!

Flash roms, overclock cpu, clear app caches. Modify system apps (eg make browser fullscreen).
Anything really.
Clocksync - if cell-network time sync sucks.
MarketAccess - if you can't purchase apps on market
Autokiller or Minfree manager - to keep memory tidy (less necessary on the most recent firmwares)
Screenshot - should be obvious.

[Q] Lost Phone

I just lost my Captivate and was wondering if there was anyway I can track it to make it easier to find.
Not unless you have previously installed an app to do such a thing

Network Backup App

I was wondering if anybody has seen or wanted to build an app that would allow you to do system backup, and allow individual folders to be selected, then transfer them to ftp/sftp address on a schedulable time. Maybe even after it was done, send an email/alert that it was successful/failed.
I looked and there was really nothing around like this...
I wish I could program, make a few bucks off it!

try deleting pictures
Comeon buddy, thats gonna take me ages to finish with about 1500 contacts... Is there no automatic method to achieve this???
im pretty sure most pictures are saved in some folder, if you find that folder you can delte all the thumbils, or just try looking for a contact backup that makes a txt file backup and then there wont be pictures
Searched every where but couldn't find any folder where the thumbnails are stored. Still stuck with the same problem...

It will show up most of the time overnight and will be in my status bar and don't have a clue what it says? Sometimes the pic of a Oriental girl when I click on the notification I have ran anti virus, malware, spyware programs that never help if I click on anything it starts downloading something that is impossible to stop! Help please

I would back-up all my stuff, do a full wipe and install a fresh rom.
But if you dont want to do that, you should try to install Titanium Backup and remove all suspicious app.
You have encountered a virus it is a rare virus and Google has fixed on gingerbread but all it does is fill up your memory and pop up annoying adds sorry but a full system whipe may be your only choice
