[P-ROM] GladiAtrix 3 b0.2 for AT&T 1.83 CWM (*BETA*BETA*BETA*BETA*) - Atrix 4G Android Development

ANNOUCEMENT 05/18/2011 @8:33am: This mod is in BETA status. This means that if you do not know what you are doing, you should not be installing this. Knowing what you are doing includes, but is not limited to the following:
Working knowledge of ADB
Understanding of CWM and it's backup/restore functions
Understanding of what an SBF is and how to flash it
If you do not, at the very least, meet those requirements please do not install this onto your phone. This is a beta test, and I will not be supporting users who say, "tried to install but now my phone says red light and its really hot how do i make a phone text?"
I'm really not trying to be a **** about it, but these kinds of things should be researched and learned before you install ANY mods on your phone, let alone a beta release. There's plenty of available tutorials on all of these things.
UPDATE 05/12/2011 @11:31pm: b0.2 release. Fixed most of the bugs, combined the webtop fix into the full install. Webtop should work properly now, with LXTerminal icon in the top status bar. I prefer it that way, but you can invoke awn-manager from lxterminal and add a link to the bottom bar if you want. This should be safe to apply over b0.1. I'm changing nomenclatures. All mods like this are henceforth known as P-ROMs. And you will like it. I have spoken.
UPDATE 05/12/2011 @7pm:*FIXED* Made a patch for webtop breaking, install after the main zip. You can install both at the same time. Will merge the two files later tonight. File posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13729463&postcount=39
UPDATE 05/12/2011: *FIXED* Webtop breaks when you install this. It's recoverable, so if you don't use it that often or at all, don't worry about it. I should have a patch by end of day.
Stayed late at work and had some extra time, so I got around to putting this together. This is tested and is working perfectly on my device.
Quick feature list:
Deodexed
Custom boot logo
AppWidgetPicker (better widget management)
Enables sideloading
Ad blocking
Installs AT&T tethering APN
Enables desktop flash content, i.e. Hulu (You MUST install flashplayer 10.2 from market prior to installing the ROM. You must also use a browser that lets you set your user agent to Desktop.)
Clears Dalvik-cache
Removes the AT&T bloat
Disables background media scanning (speeds phone up a LOT)
Webtop without need for dock (through micro-hdmi cable)
Preferred install location for apps
Disables SD card mount sound
Enables ADB to run as root (still need further testing on this, not sure exactly how this is supposed to function)
Enables Google location services (does not send private information or drain your battery, it just allows apps to use cell location as opposed to GPS if a location is needed)
Lowers delay when placing a call (1 second as opposed to 2.5 which was just obnoxiously long)
Increases wifi scan interval
Decreases screen activation delay from proximity sensor
Increase RAM available to dalvik VM
Adds lxterminal shortcut to webtop, allows webtop customization
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS BETA. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. CONSIDER THIS A PUBLIC BETA TEST. PLEASE REPORT ANY ISSUES YOU HAVE HERE.
THERE ARE NO SCREENSHOTS THIS IS NOT A THEME.

Read the disclaimer? Good. Download link is here. Install with CWM.

Awesome work. I was waiting for this. I like your rom more than ginger blur ones coz I know I'm gonna re-theme them anyway. Thanks again, I will try and report back.

Ill give it a shot tonight and use it over the next couple days, unless there is a major issue with it.

"Enables Google location services"
why?
isn't this just a waste of battery and a privacy concern?

Checking it out. Good work, man!

"1 second as opposed to 2.5 which was just obnoxiously long" LOL - agreed though.
Nice work!

I'm assuming this is still installed the old fashion way right?... I mean can I install it over the latest version of gingerblur? Or do I have to flash back to sbf 1.26 first then update via OTA before gaining root and then install it through tenfars recovery?

cwm = clockwork mod = tenfars recovery for the purpose of this discussion

flashing now!

j/k j/k flashing it now.

great,, as usual

Already identified a few issues with webtop. If you use webtop, avoid flashing this until I get it sorted out.
EDIT: If you don't use webtop or don't care, this won't affect anything else.

Damn. Won't install over greyblur.

Yea, that's true.

Any way to get that fix for the call delay by itself? Im running GingerBlur right now and would love to have that.
Or, can I just install this right on top of Gingerblur as this isn't a theme?

You can try, but I don't recommend or condone the practice. It WILL remove any theme you have currently though, and it will replace any customized system apps with the stock versions. Just FYI.
The call delay fix is:
Code:
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=1000
in build.prop

Any chance anyone has a change log for this?
I haven't seen one yet....I know it fixed a timestamp issue in sms.
Is built in USB tethering part of this rom, unlike the previous leak?
Why in the pic it shows a different Kernal verison?

@dr154
I have the exact same Kernel that u have in ur pic.....not sure why ....perhaps they got more than one leaked test version ...
Change log- not quite sure. Quite a bit for me coming from 2.1.
I had to go back and redo su.
I also had to uninstall rom manager, run bootstrap and then reinstall rom manager in orderto load the new tranquility rom by p3 via recovery.
I am not having any market problems.
I had to reinstall adobe flash after tranquility rom. Love having flash now.
Good times and enjoying it.
Tranquil Froyo 2.3.13.MB810 FTW
Also, no market fix in that current build, so i made one if any need it...
Modded build.prop - Changes below
Market Fix
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=1000
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=60
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval = 90
dalvik.vm.heapsize=32m
Similar to this post - LexusBrian400 - [UPDATED][MOD] LOTS of Build.prop edits! but includes market fix on new 2.3.13 release build.
2.3.13 Market Fix
I read on another forum that since bootstrap/koush don't have boot loader access, the kernel cannot be updated unless using the verizon sbf...

That's correct, kind of. Kernel and all can be updated through a correctly signed update.zip from Motorola not just an sbf. P3 and company have the full update. As in Kernel, system, the works. They aren't releasing it due to C&D worries, so we, the lowly, only get the new /system files. There definitely is a new kernel in that update, whether it contains any new changes that are worthwhile is a good question.

[MOD] JL3 Services.jar modified to remove support for carrier throttling.

Saw this over on the Evo4G forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888372
All Credits go to BThomas22x for the mod, I just applied it to the Services.jar from our JL3.
..::..Disclaimer..::..
You are voluntarily flashing this at your own risk. I can not be held accountable for anything you choose to do on your own. If you try to blame me, I will laugh at you. ....While pointing.
..::..Data Service Governer Killer..::..
1. What does this do?
This is a modification to the services.jar framework file, that allows you to have an un-throttled internet.
2. Will this make my internet faster?
Yes and No. This will not "Upgrade" your internet. This only takes the trottle off, so you can download, or play games and not have to worry about it hitting a certain peak and lagging from that point on. It doesn't provide you with a new internet, only a warm fuzzy feeling from knowing you don't have to worry about it capping off.
3. If I flash this, will it break my phone?
If it did, yours would be the first case I heard of. I've personally flashed it NUMEROUS times.
4. Will this work on any ROM?
Yes. This is not based off a particular ROM, and can be used with ANY EVO ROM. ALTHOUGH If you're Dev has made changes to the services.jar file, this could wipe those changes out. If you are unsure, send me your services.jar file, and i will look for you. Hopefully, i'll be able to make a download list in a couple days with all the Dev's services.jar files, so you can download that specific one. You can always ask your Dev.
5. Do I have to be rooted?
Yes. In order to be able to flash this, you are going to need to have root with a custom recovery. I.E. Amon_Ra.
..::..Install Instructions..::..
Simply download, and place on the root of your sdcard. Then go into recovery and flash it as you would a ROM. Done.
..::..Download..::..

Ill try this tonight.

I tried this now its got a extra Singal bar set.. im confused lol? And it was slow booting up like it had errors? You edited it specifically for the captivate?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Does your zip include the JL3 modem or is it an add-on once the JL3 is installed on your phone?
Also broke market and titanium.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
This particular Services.jar came from the cognition 9.5 build based off of JL3. it can and will break roms that are not based off of the same framework.
It's not captivate specific, it's framework specific.
The only thing it contains if the services.jar file.
Oh okay thanks I fixed it where it works but what is that other signal bar with a arrow up that shows up now?

It would be best to do a cwm backup before installing this just in case.
Can someone do this for stock jpx?
Sent With E=MC^2
Can you explain exactly what is changed?
I could reverse engineer it but I'm too lazy.
I am not trying to be a negative Nancy...but data throttling is not done by AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile at this time. They use "soft-caps" at 5GB and send you a nasty-gram telling you to quit or literally pay the price (per kb).
Sprint is the only carrier out of the big 4 to use data throttling...so they can truly post "unlimited data" since they do not cap data...but slow you down as you get closer (think of gas pumps as you get closer to your total...it slows down).
Just a heads-up. I think its great, however, that you read another thread, thought outside the box, and shared with others..that's what XDA is all about.
This does not mean that when Verizon and AT&T go LTE that data throttling wont occur....just not right now.
Thanks!

Went ahead and did it anyway...

Yep, as was done in the original mod, it removes the throttleservice class and any sub functions that would be called when the data connection was to be throttled.

It causes error on boot for Axura 2.5.1. Probably need to remove the ThrottleService classes from the framework.jar for Axura and load that instead.

I'm not sure if it'll work perfectly with the new SBF. It can't hurt to try! If you know what you're doing, the backup will save all of your /system/app and /system/framework. Then you can adb push that stuff back if your phone is borked.

Is an SBF flash necessary, or can I just flash from recovery (running gingerblur 1.3)?

Hope you guys like it. This is definitely a "beta" release work-in-progress. I learned a heck of a lot about theming with this project. Going to hugely benefit future projects.

Of course, it is always best to wipe with an SBF flash.

EDIT: Installed fine, and I LOVE the new transition and menu effects!!!

There's no way I'll be able to remember all of the mods. Mostly check the settings.db modifications and build.prop. It's a few things.
I installed it and it looks great , but I lost my gingerbread keyboard ?

That's not a part of the ROM.
I can package up a Gingerbread keyboard MOD .zip if you'd like. I'll post it in a minute.

This looks really slick. Thanks for the hard work I want a Razr because of this rom

Awesome rom. So far, bluetooth streaming and phone appear to be working. Any way to get the nav bar back? I am not a fan of PIE and would love to see if I can get the bar back.
Thanks for you hard work.

Yep, go Into developer options and make sure root access is set to apps and adb. Reboot. Go into hybrid properties and set to tablet mode. Then set back to phone and boom! There they are.

Awesome! worked as described. I will be running this for bit and will report any bugs. Thanks for prompt response.
edit: I've been running this heavily with bluetooth streaming and appears to be rock-solid. Only issues so far are some random force closes but a reboot seems to have cleared up most of the issues.
edit 2: I've had 1 soft reboot so far. I was streaming bluetooth, then made a call, then when call ended the phone soft rebooted. The phone loaded fine and was not stuck on logo.
edit 3: Small bug found. When root access is granted to a program, it takes me back to the setup section and NOT the last program that requested the root privilege. Also calendar and Google search have force closes. Ended up uninstalling calendar and reinstalling from backup. For Google search, just restored a backup which fixed the issue.

All right. Awesome. I'm going to install this now.
Are there any bugs I should know about? I want to run an AOSP/AOKP/CM-based ROM while on vacation this upcoming week. I don't want to deal with the stock ROM since it's so freaking slow and laggy.
One more question! Have you tested the battery life? If so, is it good, bad, the same?

There are not bugs that I have noticed and I have been running it for a couple of days... The battery is on par with all of the others... If you want even better battery search for code kernel on droidrzr. It is built for performance and battery life.
Never mind. I'm dumb. I figured it out.
Looks like a very nice ROM. Anyone know if dock line-level audio out (analog, over the USB port) works on this build?
Huh, just saw this thread.
Nice to see ProBAM, built for other devices.
If you needed anything regarding the ROM, feel free to PM me or codexc.
Keep up the good work. :good:
Does Global function work?
I'm interested in flashing the ROM. I'm currently here in Taiwan on business and using GSM feature to run a local SIM card while I'm here. I am currently running Eclipse ROM 1.4 and it's pretty stable and the Global feature works. I don't want to flash if the feature is not available. If it is and no one tested, then I might give it a shot while I'm here. Thanks for porting another ROM :good:
I'm using the XT926 on verizon

Ok...so just flashed the ROM. The global function is working as the local sim card I'm using is recognized. I have a slight problem as I don't have any of the app menu icon on the screen. My rom loaded with a complete blank home screen, no widgits except for google bar. I can't seem to locate the feature to unhide the icons. Can you help with that? I currently can't add any widgets or even go to the app menu to long press them and add to my home screen. I've messed with the customization menu's but can't seem to find the setting. Also, I installed the Aug 11 build from the repository. I noticed there are 3 of them. I would assume the latest build was the one to load?

Sounds like possibly a bad flash.

You are correct. I did a factory reset and everything came back up. Although it was glitchy with regards to app performance. I am using TWRP and only did the factory reset w/ advanced wipe. I found that doing a whole system format of the internal storage corrected the issues. Thanks.:victory:
Download-Link is broken
Does that mean it has been pulled from working with our phones?
