[Q] Hhhhelp!! (Airplay question) - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Dear Xda mates,
I've got this Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air speakers. Very nice and cool!
However, Apple being apple, I can only use my ipod or my wife's iphone to use the speakers.
I have one desperate question only...otherwise, i might have to consider to change to an iphone (which i really do not want!!!)
--> Is there an Android app out there to be able to use the Airplay function?
I tried Twonky but it doesn't work on our beloved HTC HD2. On Twonky's website, there is a mention that it might not work on some HTC phones.
I'm using darkstone's superRAM and loving it! ...but is there a patch for this?
i couldn't find anything so far.
Thanks for all your help!

Ever found a solution for this? I have the same BW-set with a Galaxy TAB. Twonky does work without any problem, but I want to stream Radio / Podcasts as well.
Double Twist and Honey Player do not work in my configuration.

Hava player for android

I ahve a hava platinum HD it will "sling" video to like 1 internet connection and 2 locals (I think, dont hold me to these numbers) I know it takes more connections than the comperably priced slingbox, I got mine used on fleabay for like 50$ it would be nice to controll my 500+ channel 250 hours SA2 tivo hak'd to the ma'x, and Id love to serve it up to my g1 in a long line or anywhere else I get bored, which is often.
one exists for the maemo hildon nokia N800 so maybe it wouldnt be a difficult port, it would be very cool and these boxes unlike the sling are very cheap, if HD is just 50$ imagine the deals you could find on a standard def unit, Id also like to see an xbox port of the same player, but thats a whole other discussion board, as it is it streams to PC, smartphone by MS, and windows media and xbox360(i think) so the standard is there to be sniffed if that helps any...
bhang
im in the same boat. i got a hava player a few months back, streamed it great to my old dash. then i got the g1. monsoon said they wont even start to develop a player until they watch the android market for a while to gauge interest..
i hope sling is getting their app out soon.... the petition is only growing
cool Im not the only one
I looked at prices and specs of slings and havas and the hava seemed to be the hands down winner...
if hava wont do it maybe somebody will R.E. it and we will get a hava player for anything we want, thats the reason HAVA needs to do it before the demand gets big, or somebody will want to stream the hava to sumthin they have thats not supported and do it themselves...
that almost sounded like a threat, but it wasn't....
bhang
edit:
an xbox version would be nice too....
dont need it. just install orb onto your pc where you normally watch your hava, and install opera browser on your android device. Set the default stream to 3gp and you can download a stream file that is about 700mb. Works great on my droid, but unfortunately the default media player does not use the full screen. The audio and vid is still great quality and the orb interface (mycast.orb.com) has a great interface for choosing the station you want to stream. I prefer it to the virtual controller of hava actually.

Can you explain how orb changes the channel of the ricochet that's connected to the hava? Thanks

Has sold me on android for my next phone.
Now if WM7 gets Zune support...
I've had a Hava for around 2 years now, they say early next year, look for the app a year after that... They rarely hit target dates.

It's still a little rough around the edges, but it's great someone took it upon themselves to do this.

Thank you for this!!!! Just got my At&t Nexus and was thinking about my Hava player... I bought the app on my Iphone and loved it. This is going to be great... will install and give it a shot tonight. Assuming this works over 3G which will be a great advantage to the iphone player
TestTube Android HAVA Player
Search for TestTube on Market. I have a G1 and TestTube works great as a HAVA player on my phone. Setup was a little tricky. I had to port forward port 1778 on my router to my HAVA device. Other tricky piece of the setup was making sure I had the correct HAVA remote control code.
can not find the software anyplace....
Has anyone seen were it went to
I've been using testube for a while, using it for my titanium hd. I just heard that Monsoon Multimidea released the Vulkano app across many platforms and it's backwards compatible with the hava devices as well (not just the new vulkano devices). Its a free app, and though I havent used it yet, its seems just like what we've wanted.
Fellow iphone users have mentioned to me that the Vulkano app does infact work with the old hava devices.

[Q] Wiimote Controller on Tab?

Please forgive my ignorance, I'm completely new to the Android world. Has anyone been able to root a tab to allow Wii controller access?
Searched multiple forums but could not find a definitive answer.
Thanks!
I've rooted mine, and actually thought about trying the wiimote app again. (I used it on my Nexus 1)
I'll give it a shot...
It doesn't work. I'm guessing for the same reason the Galaxy S phones won't work with it either, the bluetooth isn't compatible.
I confirm also that it doesn't work. I've tried 2 different wii controller apps. And my galaxy is rooted. It just won't sync.
Yeah I tried em both also. I'm sure the BT hardware is the same on the Tab and the SGS phones, and they don't work either. I was very disapointed when I couldn't use this after switching from my N1 to my Captivate.
10-4 thanks for giving it a shot.
One of the developers of one of the apps says it's to do with TouchWiz. Sounds more likely to be a software issue than a hardware blutooth issue, which means it could be fixed or hacked Hope!
similar issues on my T-Mobile tablet; I tried to connect a Wii controller to my tab and the wiimote app keeps telling me to enable bluetooth.
i can confirm it works well on archos 101 but not on tmo gtab
im hoping they patch this im looking forward to using it for gaming

Me to, with a hdmi out cable and a couple of wii controllers. The tab could be a neat little mini mobile gaming system. Hopefully with 2.3 or 3.0 we'll get that support. But then again I don't even know if the hardware can support a wiimote.

Anyone know of any other controller for android?
I also still waiting on some news.
Having brought Snes,Nes,Gba, psx emulators on my tab I dieing for some news.
I thought is was do to with the bluetooth stack used by Sammy?
Yes, I believe you are right about the bluetooth stack. I think our most likely option right now is to wait for the cyanogen roms to be completed for our tabs.

Would like this to happen also.
I poked around with the Wiimote and the Tab last night and it looks like L2CAP support is needed in the kernel before this will work. I haven't built a kernel for an android device yet, so I'll leave it to the chefs to build it in.

I hope we can alter what ever needs to be altered in order to uses a WiiMote with the Samsung Tab.
Seeing that the Dell streak 7 doesn't have Hdmi out, this tablet still really is my only chance of having real Gaming emulation on the go without adding much bulk!

What to do with old Galaxy S?

I just got a SGS3 and I'm keeping my SGS for now. Any thoughts on some cool or useful things I could do with it now that I have my SGS3? I'm willing to try almost anything but I haven't thought of anything that I can't just do with my SGS3. I'll probably try put Jellybean on the SGS before I try it on the SGS3.
One idea is maybe use it for a webcam. I don't have a webcam right now so is there I way I can use the rear camera as a PC webcam?
Throw out some ideas. Keep in mind I don't have a data plan or voice plan for it anymore but wifi is an option still.
Thanks!

I really do have unfortunate peeps I know who have BB or iphone. Unfortunate in that they aren't on Android.
What an amazing story it would make of international benevolence and sharing. Ok, maybe that's a little over the top.
But, I did live in Dorset for 14 months. May that sway you..
And if you ever visit Canada, you'd have a place to stay...
And I'll pay the shipping.
You can also use it as a NAS (if you load it whith a usb host enabled kernel) or torrent client.
I saw read somewhere that someone modded the camera to be a nightvision one (hardware mode) you could try that?

Clean flash and donate to a local charity of your choice
Why don't you donate it to a hardworking dev? I'm sure they could do something useful with the second phone.
The good first gen single core phones are starting to go off plan and turn up second hand. I picked up a Galaxy S Epic Sprint (the one with slider keyboard) last week at my favorite pawnshop for $60 mint, to mess with and use as a mini tablet. Apparently either the prior owner didn't deactivate it, or with Sprint (no sim card) once activated the phone works fine on wifi. First did factory reset, then rooted, now everything including GPS seems to work (other than the phone and cel data of course, at some point I'll install a Google Voice solution).
I'm using it as a middle of the night reader with a screen dimmer app. My wife has been bothered by the bigger screen lighting of the NC, so something smaller helps. Its a pretty good ereader/podcast player for this purpose. Lots of reader/news apps seem optimized for its WVGA screen, some have night mode. And I put a couple of games on it for the kids to use in the car instead of giving them my real phone.
Now I need to figure out something to do with the slider keyboard. Thinking maybe a remote keyboard app for the PC, anybody recommend an android app that will convert a slider keyboard to a remote computer keyboard through a network?
Hi,
Make a crach test movie
Regards,
I'd say put it away somewhere safe in case something happens to the S3 and you need a backup phone. That's what I'm planning to do with mine. My Galaxy S will be a backup and would be the one I would take on long hikes cause I won't be too bothered if I drop it, although I've kept it in mint condition.

Slaphead20 and skills have good suggestions.
Otherwise, I'd always planned that whenever I upgrade, I'd likely keep it for its amazing audio quality from its Wolfson DAC and Voodoo Sound; it's hands down the best portable music player I've owned. Plus, there was a good article on Lifehacker a ways back about people keeping older smartphones and iPod Touches with Skype on it to use as a 'house phone'.

You could send it to me lol I need a testing device but I'd say use for holidays and you don't want to risk the s3

Casio G-Shock Bluetooth 4.0 wristwatch and WP8 support?

Hi!
I'll soon get the fantastic Casio G-Shock with Bluetooth 4.0 link function - which normally works with iOS and Android OS. As i also have a Nokia Lumia 920 additional to my iPhone I'd like to use it with this new gadget. Is there any possibility to convert the existing Android App into a working WP8 App? Any solutions out there?
best regards,
Oliver
Nope, no chance. Thank Microsoft for the restriction.

How do they not allow it? Bluetooth APIs are open, heck, you can even open bluetooth sockets and transmit raw data over them (unlike NFC, which is limited to NDEF formats). It's up to Casio to make the app. If Casio decides WP is not a big enough market, fair enough. They could release the protocols the watch are using, and developers can make an app for them.

Smh. You obviously know how to use the internet, clearly you do because you're on this board.
How about searching the internet for the kind of access Casio needs. Its more than a simple app that is needed.
Apple just added the functionality IOS 5 & 6.

I don't think it is a small feature. That means that with the Right soft (understand app) you can virtually have the equivalent to a harmony universal remote control to master all your IR devices such as TV bluray home theater. I have an harmony and its awesome. Getting old though.

Already tested it and it works fine.
For most devices there are preconfigired setups. If your device is not listed, you can "teach" the phone by holding original remote to the power button and by pressing any button on remote.
Sadly the set of buttons is limited (only most common buttons available)

Bigger hint: The App is called "TV" in the App drawer!
Have to say i'm quite impressed with it, i thought it was just a bit gimmicky but after trying it out it's quite good.
My 8 year old son was very impressed with it...."woah mum, dad's phone can turn the TV over!"......the wife wasn't impressed at all
Can't wait to get back to work in a few weeks and start p***ing the lads in the canteen off by turning the TV over!
Great thing is, that SGS4 also have IR sensor.
So we can expect some nice apps in near future and another devices with such functionality.
Back to the roots, earlier each phone had IR (ok not same like now)
Oh my. This feature is epic.
For Virgin Media users dont select your cable box as Tivo, it doesn't work select Virgin Media in the option.
Its Epic. EPIC EPIC.
I can't get it to work with my Sharp tv. The auto setup fails and when I try to get it to learn from my existing remote it will learn some buttons but not others. So I can mute the tv, but not unmute it. None of the numbers work, but the volume controls do.

You can try to teach your phone from a universal remote that works on our TV.
Well the -Vol button on my Denon DAB Hi-Fi remote in my office has just died so this new phone can't come at a better time.
Same for me, The work TV remote is literally in three pieces on the table after someone destroyed it this week.
