You don't have to keep it in /system/app, it works from /data/app as well. Had to move it to /data/app to make room for Swype and all its humungous glory. When you move it to /data/app, hit install afterwards and reboot. Magic. Netflix love!!

soooo HELP plzzzzz
i installed the apk, the no device check one, then i renamed it, i installed it to the data/apps then went in to root explorer and changed the premmisions to rw-r-r but when i run the app i get the red netflix screen then it just go's white?????? what did i screw up on?? thx
All I did was download the apk, put it on my SD card and hit install. Worked fine.
Although trying to watch anything animated on it looks like hell, and there is a green bar across the top of movies, even though stagefright isn't enabled, and Youtube works fine.
NetFlix app [no device check] stop working yesterday. I got a dialog box at startup stating an upgrade was needed. The good news is Netflix has released an official app that does not do a device check. It does not show up on the market yet, but can be downloaded at droid-life com.
Search for: netflix removes device check should work on all android devices

I'm not really sure, but I think you have to be connected to wifi for netflix to work properly. Our "3G" data:
1. Isn't fast enough to stream the video
2. would be used fairly quickly. I think the cap is 5Gb/month then you get throttled down until the next month...
Try it connected to wifi.
The Netflix in openZio works just fine over 3g for me. Doesn't seem to go through data too terribly fast. Not as fast as I'd expect anyways.
I have the Cricket Crosswave too. If I connect to that over my phone it streams fine. Trying to watch Netflix on my computer while connected to the Crosswave does NOT stream worth a crap though. I figure they must optimize the mobile version quite a bit.

Just a headsup: Netflix updated their app, so the current one that is around isnt working on our devices, including the one on my 2.1.1 ROM.
jchapel pointed me in the direction of a working netflix apk, so I have added it to my ROM as an update/upgrade (v.2.1.2).

confused. went to hulu. still cant play video??? something missing?
I'm not a fan of Hulu, never have been. This is the 2nd time I've ever tried a mod to allow Hulu, but I get the same thing I always have "Sorry, this video isn't supported on your platform". Not sure if I was supposed to do anything else beside uninstall market flash, install the modded flash, and pull up hulu. That's all I did. As I said, I'm not interested in Hulu, so not gonna mess around with it, but I figured I'd try it out. Just lettin ya know in case it helps.

Perfect! Thanks. Just streamed a Beavis and Butthead and it looked great. I loaded up Bigndad's theme with the uastring as desktop default and its made life much better.
Stock wifi 3.1 no root doesnt work. works great on wifi 3.1 with root though

If your Netflix app wont update heres the APK go to XDA home page and select Android Hacking then choose the one about games and stuff and there it will be . Sorry cant post link maybe someone on a computer could help.

I just upgraded to gingered 0.07 and tried installing netflix, only to find out that I need to update it before it will let me log in.
Please, if someone has the new apk, can you post it here so we can continue to use Netflix on our phones?

dunno if it was a fluke for me, but i just Odin'd EG22 (Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184134) and searched Netflix in the stock marketplace app. Found that it wasn't blocked from the epic anymore. Figured i'd give that a try before running the modified versions. Found the app, and installed without a problem. Loads MUCH faster too. Came from EF02.
EDIT/ maybe my marketplace has been tweaked already?... didn't read anything about that and says its stock... anyways give it a shot

Yeah they officially released it a week or so ago. That is how EC05 users can use it now.

yeah, the app is downloadable from the market and it does work on my Epic running SRF 1.2 atop Genocide 1.1. the overall responsiveness is a bit sluggish, and only being able to access my instant queue is really annoying - you'd think an official Netflix app could have an actual means of managing you DVD queued - but streaming video absolutely works.

For some reason Netflix still has the poor quality buttons at the top of the app. I'm not sure if its suppose to be like that, but has anyone experienced that?

The app buttons stink. But even the website buttons look screwy sometimes on Chrome. I think it's just Netflix not keeping their tech up to snuff. Maybe that's why they are changing the rates on their plans.

Wait. Does this play well with Flash Lite, and does it work in /system/app?
EDIT: It forces me out of both stock and Dolphin HD browsers every time I try to load any page with embedded flash. It loads the player and buffers, but once it tries to start playing I get sent back to my launcher. No FC, just closes the browser and kicks me back to my launcher.

Just downloaded and installed. Must say it appears to be working so far without any problem. Thanks Mattix for the heads up on this one.
I recommend removing the flashlite plugin now that we can use the real deal.
Edit: I can load sites such as Adult Swim Games without being sent back to the home screen, except there is no hard keyboard so I can't actually play, but when I try loading a video on the YouTube page it loads the embedded flash player and it buffers but if you click on full screen it loads then attempts to play then crashes back to the home screen.

As far as I can tell flash videos are buggy and crash... but as far as your porn I cannot help you on that.

You have full control of your phone now, you can use wireless tether to share your cricket service, you can explore the system partition and delete unwanted apps but be careful what you delete or change, you can use terminal emulator if you are familiar with the command line and Linux commands, you can change system settings with something like blade buddy or similar apps, basically root means you have full control to do anything within the OS.

I installed the link for flash player 10.2.157.340.apk installed with out a problem. your link above says the Cricket Zio is not supported.
So I downloaded netflix from the market, and it says in the list of supported devices that the HTC Thunderbolt is one. Now it does install and accepts your username password, you can see your qeue and it attemps to play the vid, but fails with a DRM required message. any one else seeing this? if you search for it it will not appear, but if you select apps, all apps, free apps then scroll down its listed. click install and try to enjoy a mostly usable app.

yep no go for me also. Someone on Android Central claims his works on stock but yeah general consensus says other wise.
Mine works on CM7 perfectly! I did a search for Netflix it found and downloaded fine. Logged in and started a movie!

it will never work on stock or rooted froyo for the thunderbolt (at least not without netflix directly supporting it). person that said it did on that forum is full of it. amount of effort to make it work would not be worth it. GB will be out soon and nearly everyone has it already on here. Anyone who wont root to get netflix obviously doesnt want it bad enough

It is running 2.2.1 and netflix runs perfectly out of the box. in my ignorance, I dont know why it would be any more dificult to modify it to work with other froyo devices. Im sure one of the software type bullys will pick me appart here.. By the way... XDA isn't a friendly place any more. boo to flamers... (will probably get flamed for that) HA

Netflix does NOT need GB to function, it appears as if it needs it for the TBolt but not overall. That being said they made Droid Bionic support available so take everything with a grain of salt. Maybe GB will be coming soon and rather than fix issues with the TBolt again soon they figured set it up for GB and users can use it then (and root users now ).

I just installed Netflix on my stock TB & it works very well. It was a little glitchy for the first 3-4 seconds, maybe 5, but after that, clear as a bell. No complaints here. About damn time...
Netflix app was just updated again!!! Everyone that had issues before try it out!

Yep, confirmed working here too. Stock Froyo unrooted, latest update.

I never said all of froyo...I said thunderbolt + froyo. However, I am glad to see that it looks like netflix finally fixed it for the thunderbolt on froyo (the only way I said it would ever work for it).

Uninstall, download from market & reinstall.
I never understood the appeal of watching netflix on a cell phone. I tried it a couple of times & never finished the movie. Tablets & netbooks are much better suited for that job, imho

The game was working flawlessly with the team tiamat rom I was using untill yesterday night when the 1.1 update arrives. Now it just force closes after startup. I am so addicted to this game and I REALLY need for someone to find a solution to this.
Stupid lameloft you had 2 months to port it on Xoom like you did with Nova 2 but you preffered to port it on Facebook for more cash...
