$3 Android Buddy - Nook Color Accessories

Thought the back of my Nook Color looked a little bland, and I wanted to make mine stand out from others... so on eBay, I searched up a small (about 2.5" tall?) vinyl Android Decal... Ordered one (but they sent two, SCORE!) and attached are photos of the end result.
I wanted to put it square in the middle, but the nook emblem put a wrench in that plan. Perhaps I'll use some body filler or find a back without the indentation to cover up the 'n'.
For anyone interested in purchasing decals, here is the seller i bought from: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...41&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:OU:MOTORS:1123
To apply just peel, smooth, then peel the other side! all done!

Looks good, I also have a droid buddy! The back of the nook does look a bit blah. Had it since january and thought it was the perfect time to show it off too!

Looking good guys. If it were me, I'd find a small one that fits right inside of the 'n', with its head right on the inside of the curvature. That's the money spot.

Its so tiny! But it looks good. I was debating between green or white, and, well, I picked white. I think yours looks better though!

That'd be cool! Though I wish my nook didn't have the "n" on it.

nah, the cheapest is ACTUALLY using the box... which I suggest using =P

I never even thought about using the box...that's awesome.
I picked up a $2 business card holder from Staples and glued a couple soft plastic pieces that I had in my misc. parts box to it. It holds my NC nice and sturdy now.
Walmart sells a "tablet stand" which folds up and is pretty nice

Yes, agreed. I like how you can fold the box flap at two different angles. No matter whether the "n" logo on the back of the box is face up or down you can set your NC inside the box. I rather like the position with the 'n' logo facing down. So, it's a two way stand!

which background pic is that?
Rubber band man
Wow, you all make me feel weird, now. Rubber bands, baby, that's the answer to the problem. Well, them and one of those BN NC book covers. On one side, a chain of six, triple looped. On the other side, a 4-chain, double looped. It holds it at the perfect angle for me to watch Burn Notice or anything else I please.
Also, the rubber bands double as artillery launchers!
So now people can really know the genius behind a kickstand on the EVO!
It's evolutionary!

didn't think of this, works awesome. thank you. especially since i upgraded to DSLR and this thing has been collecting dust in my junk drawer
I find the plate holders you can find at Walmart or Target work great for Gtab and the NC.
Here's youtube video of one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGMIAPdysKg
I bought the Arkon folding stand from Amazon to keep in my purse to use when I travel, shop or dine out by myself and I love it.
That said, for general use around the house I got a small $4.99 easel stand from Target (they had it out with the picture frames) that works really well, and comes in black, oak and cherry....
Both stands hold my NC with my Oberon cover on it. Very nice...

My DIY in 2 minute tablet stand for the lazies

Hi guys,
I wanted to buy a tablet stand for a while, but they're either bad or way too expensive, which means that if I want crap, I better do it myself.
The UPS carton from the Nexus 7 was hanging out next to my desk for weeks so I decided to just take it, cut a piece, and make it look like a stand. I did it pretty randomly and it turns out not bad at all. This definitely solves my stand issue. I'll probably improve it a little more by adding some duct tape so it can last a bit more that 2 weeks.
This will literally take 2 minute of your time if you wanna give it a try. I love it so far.
Pictures: http://imgur.com/a/jr464
Not bad if you don't have spare DVD cases laying around (that stand is a little more stable and longer-lasting), but edit your pictures and downsize them, they're too big for the forum!
-Ara
Woops, replaced it by an imgur album, thanks
I made one from a dvd case. Thing works awesome. It holds my N7 while in a case too. I often use it at night to charge.
I used a spare Xbox 360 case so mine is neon green.

Cool...I saw that stand at Walgreens and thought it was pretty cool. But they want over $10 for it, and I've already got a $30 stand ( bought for my old ex-Prime ) and another simple silicone stand. But the one you have does tempt me every time I see it
What about this?
I got this for my nexus 7:

Gawd I never thought i'd be shilling for gamestop but for $5 you really can't go wrong.
Sorry for the (gnex) crappy pic but you get the idea, the slots that the tablet fit into are super soft rubber (coated) and it folds completely flat.
Just go around your house and look for an unused picture frame prop.
I just thought I'd share mine.
I still need to trim off the glue, cut off the excess cardboard and paint it.
That's a cool idea. I make one for my kids.

Its actually not even in the electrinics department of target. Its in the camping supply area next to the travel stuff. Its labeled as an e-reader case and has a cardboard sleeve around it. I'm pretty sure the brand was Embark

Just an FYI, I had a similar case for my old Archos PMP. The elastic band wore away the finish on the PMP's frame after a bit of taking it out and putting it back in. I imagine that, if you're careful, it won't be a problem. And one advantage to plastic over metal is that there's no paint to abrade.
Thanks exactly what i was looking for!
That's the right one in the website posted but it says $16 online. It was definitely only $12 or $12.99 in store.

Painted the trim on my nexus 7 black.

Used one of those elmers painting pens for pastic. For not taking apart my nexus it came out fairly well.
Got the idea after seeing that article about carphone warehouse listing a 32gb nexus and a galaxy nexus 2. the picture they had of a nexus had a black trim. went to walmart and bought the paint pen asap.

just curious if using Gaffer tape would be easier. it's strong enough and it's removable

I would use a low-tack masking tape, gaffer tape (duct tape) would be far too adhesive IMO.
Transmitted from either Nexus7 - Tab2 - GT-N7000 - i9100
Gaff tape doesn't have the nasty adhesive of duct tape (until it gets old and dried out/dusty ). It would look all weird though because it's like a fabric.
I might have to do this to my nexus as well. Mainly because the silver paint chipped off a little bit on the top.

the elmers paint pen comes off pretty easy with your nail but stays on during regular use just fine. i've already stripped it to redo again tonight. beware though, you will run out of paint in the pen by the time your done.
Someone should attempt this using Plasti-Dip. If you don't know what it is, it's like spray paint, but it creates a rubbery layer over whatever you spray, and you can peel it off later if you don't like it. It's very popular DIY product for cars.
I did some googling and it looks like some people have already attempted using it on phones, usually battery covers and cases, but I think it should work fine for this, and I'd be very curious to see the results.

Looks like my Nexus 7 I got at the Google I/O conference. The ones with the white backs they gave out also have black trims.
I think its funny the the pic they show on the N7 box shows one with a black trim not silver. Haha
Im tempted to try this, but first I want to do what another user posted and colour the X on the back in the Nexus Colours.
He used tape and it looked awesome.
Could be a nice little project its just buying a whole roll of coloured tape (For each colour = 4!) for a little strip is pointsless haha :/
Not bad Op. Time to get the guts together and do the same

I wonder, can the silver trim be separated from the body? This would make changing it to black much easier.

I've got it on my M*. Fits very well, adds just the right amount of grip to the back to prevent the phone from sliiping if you keep it in a shirt pocket. You do have to black out the inside of the flash cut out to prevent flash bleed into the cover but doesn't seem to interfere with flash pictures. Can't go wrong for the price.

I've purchased this as well as a few other slim soft-touch cases. I like the cut outs on this one (separation of camera/LEDs, indents for ports) but one thing I did notice about the unit I received that is keeping me from using it is that the cut outs are sloppy and rough. They've got jaggies. I was able to over look some of these but the one that keeps from putting this case back on is the bezel around the LCD. It also has jaggies and was uncomfortable to use.
Perhaps I just got a bum unit, but just thought I'd share my experience.

My case had a very similarly sharp feel. It was an easy fix to use 500 grit sand paper to smooth it over. That took 5 minutes. I'm not sure I would qualify the cutouts as "sloppy" though, as it implies that it doesn't "look" good. It does look good, just don't really touch it, until you've sanded it down.
