[Q] Phone losing settings - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone else get this...
Phone will occasionally lose voicemail number, and Twitter settings.
Are these settings stored in the SQL lite database?
Does anyone know the cause of this problem.
Thanks.

Do you have an auto kill apps installed?
These are great little apps to free up memory and battery, but then it could end up killing feature you need... if you do take a look at the list of apps and process's that it is scheduled to kill then either look at the permissions and usage of that app/process and any suspect remove from the que.
This is my first thought of loosing settings anyway.

Who is using Dialer One? I need help

I'm using the Dialer One app from the market, and I'm having a problem with contacts. When I use the smart dialer (ie: type in the person's name) on the keypad, a few of my contacts are not listed there...but then when I go into contacts, and search for them manually they are there.
Has anyone else noticed this problem? Is there a fix? How? Thanks in advance for any help!
hmm, no, I have not noticed that, but I hardly ever actually use my phone as a phone. There are really only like 5 numbers a call regularly, and they all pop up. I'll have to poke at it a bit and see if I get the same issue.
Bump. Anyone know anything?
It works perfectly fine for me idk.. Iv used it for about 2 weeks now without a problem.
I figured it out...first I uninstalled and reinstalled. Then I went into settings within the app and set default to contacts. Hope that helps anyone else. With this problem

Can anyone tell me how to disable Googlevoice from updating in background

Can anyone tell me how to disable Googlevoice from updating in background
i disabled the sync in background but it still does it, the only way to disable it is if i disable background sync for everything but then that keeps me from using the market, i asked this elsewhere but no one seems to be able to answer it
I'm unaware of a way to disable Google Voice sync. It should initially sync after install within a matter of seconds. You mean you don't want to be notified of any new texts or voicemails? I don't see why you would want that, but you may just have to uninstall the application to avoid that, not entirely sure.

Thumbnails in stock message app

Long time lurker first time poster.
I had a problem a few weeks back with a message that I couldnt seem to delete. I worked out how to get rid of it in the end, but one of the things I did to try and fix the glitch was go to Settings > Apps > Manage Apps > Messaging, and cleared the cache data. This didnt work for that particular problem, but it seemed to remove all the pictures/thumbnails for each contact in the messaging app (the ones it gets from Facebook). The thumbnails still exist from within the Phonebook/Contacts, but they arent coming up in Messaging. I was wondering if anyone had any idea how I can get those back?
I really liked having them there as it makes it easy to quickly identify a contacts message thread. I am trying out Handcent which does have thumbnails, but I dont like the look and feel of it as much as the stock messaging app. Plus I despise the new message "choose contact" screen. No thumbnail images, and it displays ALL my contacts, even ones that dont have phone numbers.
I really just want to go back to the stock messaging app, but miss my thumbnails. Can anyone help?
Thanks guys.
I am starting to think this problem is unsolvable. I think i've looked under every setting I can find and see no way to bring them back.
Nobody can offer any advice on this?
I had considered possibly removing the stock messaging app then re-installing it from the apk, but I am not exactly sure how to do it...
No idea really. I'm using the AOSP Messaging and it'll show thumbnails for phone stored but not for synced ones.
You might try removing your Accounts & sync accounts and re-adding them and see if that helps.

Yeah I already tried that, no luck. It's a weird problem. I really wish I could just have my stock messaging app with thumbs back!
I have a feeling this may help;

But I dont have any idea how to use adb or where the thumbnails location is for the Captivate. Is it possible to achieve a similar thing in Root Explorer?

[Q] Myspace + Blur Disabled and Can't remove, help please?

I got a message on my phone last night indicating that myspace was no longer supported through blur services (or something along those lines). I wasn't able to save the notification and whenever I try to remove my myspace account from the accounts program it gives me an error. Is anybody else having a similar issue, or what would be a good way to resolve the issue? I don't want to have to factory reset my phone, I have a lot setup on it.
I'm running a Bell XT860 on the Rogers network.
Alright, looks like it fixed itself, after playing with the system a little more it worked itself out

Can't make calls, phone app crashes

Already tried clearing cache and force stopping. Every time I try to open the app, it just closes right away. Any thoughts on the issue?

Try going to Settings /apps press the settings icon and check to see if you have the phone app set as default

It was. Weird thing happened, I apparently had a voicemail--once I listened to and deleted that, the app started opening again. Really strange.
Is it stock? If you flashed something, like a ROM or an app, it is probably that and you need to (clean?) re-flash the ROM. Happened to me before on another phone when I flashed, and a re-flash fixed it. NVM, seems you have it working now.

I had the same issue seems like the phone app can't handle voicemail. I turned off visual voicemail to see if I can isolate the issue. Let's see what happens. BTW does anyone know if the source code of phone app is opensource or not?
EDIT: I think I know what the issue is, the voicemail I received was from a private number (VOIP). Looks like visual voicemail was unable to determine the caller number and died (I did not look into the logs but I am fairly certain about it).
installing tmobile visual voicemail and deleting my voicemails fixed my issue. hope this helps someone.

Thanks I did a similar thing. I dialed my Voicemail from Truecaller and deleted them. So from what I have tested the default dialer app was not able to handle visual voicemail from Private/Unknown number. Looks like someone overlooked a null pointer error.
null/segv kind crash

I had the same issue. It turns out that I had a voicemail that was not deleted from an "unknown" number (t-mobile usa). The phone app was not able to handle it and crashed. I am assuming the phone number field was empty and whatever data that was there in its place from next field simply corrupted its memory or caused it to segv. I think this is just a bug in their phone app. In order to replicate the issue, just have someone block and send the voicemail to them and try opening the app, it crashes without any incident. Is there a way to see any exception thrown? or is that not on the consumer build?

You can use the user feedback app installed on the latest stock rom
Open it and recreate your crash and submit report to oneplus
If possible they will rectify in the next update
