Some Extra files : V10E Patched (EU), V20S Patched (EU) | V30B (FRA) | Superuser+.zip (will push AnReboot + ES Explorer as well) | SuperOneClic 2.3.3 | Gingersnap 2 | ADB.zip | FW Converter | GPS_Fix_2.zip | and more...
Note : V10E & V20S here are the OPEN EUROPE versions in binary format, and are patched with CWMT so they're ready for root (flash superuser.zip from SDC via recovery, see below the root tut)

Now I let this task to more competent than me

| The upgrade |
You assume the fact that flashing may result in getting errors, and even bricking the phone.
You can use standard methods by using B2C, R&D Test Tool (to use with .kdz firmwares), or simply PC Suite. If you're going to manually downgrade with R&DTT, doing a factory reset before flashing may prevent of errors and bricks.
NOTE : Now LG blocks manual upgrades via B2C ("upgrade start" will show LG update window instead of performing the flash process), so neither KDZU nor R&DTT will work unless you apply the following tip to fix it.
But the fastest and safest method is to use the SmartFlash tool (also used for rooting). For this method you'll need a firmware in binary format which is in two separated files (*.fls & *.bin). You can downgrade as well if needed. The process takes only 3 min and erase all internal datas. So you'd better save all saveable things like contacts, apps etc... use your favorite way (full nand, titanium, listing...)
Requirements : any firmware, UPK, and USB drivers. Follow related PDF guides for manually flashing.
If for some reasons, you need a particular firmware, you could convert it in binaries yourself by using the FW Converter. Just put it in the same dir where the firmware is and run it. This tool is also able to patch FWs OTA with CWM
Note : don't apply the patch on ICS firmwares (V3XX) since it will break the boot. Refer to "Recovery for ICS" of this tutorial below

| The root |
Device's warranty won't be avoided ! Read this !
Method 1 - FW V10A / B
Download the latest GingerBreak
Allowed non Market Place apps (settings > apps > unknown sources)
USB debugging ON (settings > apps > dev > USB debugging)
A SDC must be present and mounted
Launch Polaris Office to explore your SDC, then touch the apk file
in the case you don't have a file explorer, install ES File Explorer or Solid Explorer (Apps)
Phone will reboot on sucess. Cool, it's rooted ! (now you can uninstall GingerBreak)
Loading can take several minutes. If after 10 minutes at most nothing happens, GingerBreak doesn't work for you....
Method 2 - Froyo (V1XX)
Required : installed USB drivers
Enable USB Debugging (settings > apps > development)
Plug the phone, launch BlackJack and follow instructions
Allow 127.0.0.1 connection if prompted by AVs / Firewalls. Read BlackJack's intro for more details.
Froyo alternative root method with Smartflash :
Follow steps as described in method 3 below, but with these patched binaries V10E (EU) instead
Method 3 - Gingerbread (V2XX)
Caution, this method is a full flash ! EVERYTHING on the internal memoy will be lost !
Required : installed USB drivers, Smartflash, patched FW binaries V20S (EU) (*.fls and *.bin) and the Superuser+(ESE) archieve
Copy Superuser+.zip in your SDC
Follow the PDF guide procedure (UPK)
Phone will reboot into Recovery, do a wipe / reset
Now select "install zip from sdcard" > "choose zip from sdcard" and select Superuser+.zip (will push AnReboot + ES Explorer)
Go back on main menu and validate on "reboot system now". System is now permanently rooted.
Method 4 : ICS (V30X)
Caution, this method is a full flash ! EVERYTHING on the internal memoy will be lost !
Required : installed USB drivers, Smartflash, V30B (EU) binaries, and UnlockRoot 3.
Flash your device (the PDF guide in UPK may help noobs) | Ignore this step if you have already updated your phone to ICS, so you won't lose any data !
Unplug it (this is important) and boot normally (don't put your sdc yet so overall process will be shorter)
Do a factory reset (settings > backup & reset) | Ignore this step if your system is already running ICS
Ensure of LG software connexion type is selected (settings > PC connexion > USB connexion type)
Enable USB debugging before pluging the phone (settings > developer options), then plug
Install UnlockRoot, run it and follow instructions
For getting a working custom recovery, refer to the tutorial "Recovery for ICS" below
| Unlocking the bootloader |
This must be done through ICS 4.0.4 and is only needed if you want to flash a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP. You have to root first before attempting. See below the "Recovery for ICS" tut.
| The Recovery |
You assume all facts by doing that
Ensure of : installed USB Drivers / rooted system / USB debugging ON (settings > apps > dev)
Plug phone, wait for installation complete (first time plug), launch "CWMT", "CWMT6" or "TWRP"
Grant root access if prompted by SuperUser (phone)
Use AnReboot (or else) to boot into recovery
If you try booting into recovery without a custom recovery flashed, phone will perform a factory reset by default !
To load into recovery (or DownloadMod etc..), you have to use an app since LG P970 doesn't have a key combination for it. AnreBoot is perfect (included in Apps). But, if you apply a modded kernel, it becomes possible to go into CWM while the initial boot process.
Two other apps : ROM Manager, Quick Boot.

The following tutorial will help you getting a working custom recovery for stock ICS firmwares. This is an U-Boot flasher package, based on the work of payback from 4pda.ru. Thanks to jockjoint for the share.
You assume all facts by doing that
Ensure of : installed USB Drivers / rooted system / USB debugging ON
Follow the 4th root method for ICS if needed
Unlock the bootloader with the Bootloader Unlocker tool
Flash your favorite custom recovery, CWM or TWRP.
Don't forget to install an app like AnReboot to reboot into recovery. If you use one of my recovery flasher packages, check AnReboot in the task list.
| ROMs / Mods / Tools |
(Discovery) Remove battery, hold power buton, plug USB cable and wait until LG logo appears. Yeah ! The phone boots and you can use it with an infinite supply without killing battery's life !! But the phone seems having to be in airplane mod, otherwise it will shut down and display the battery missing message.
> It also works with my GT540, holding the call key. This could work on any LG androphone.
See the [INDEX] thread by RomWiz which intends to list every existing ROMs, mods, tools etc... for our device.

BTW. We still need a forum for the LGP970 "Optimus Black",
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089967&page=10

Anybody knows howto install new firmware on LG-p970?

wrong post sorry

@rgabi
KDZU doesn't work ?
thanks kzhus. Yesterday spanish links were still invalid. The europe link is now fixed, the folder "10b_00" has a lower case... they are a bit strange at LG... well I'm going to play more with links and cases...

You mean KDZ updater? I didn't try it ...yet. I am not sure that it works and I don't want to risk my phone.
Late edit:
I just flashed V10B_00 ANEUTL (european unbranded).
I was inspired by this tut: http://www.android-hilfe.de/anleitungen-fuer-lg-p970-black/106331-how-optimus-black-flashen-kdz.html
except steps 2, 3, 7, 8, 10
Instead of step 10 click on "Read phone information" and then on "Upgrade start".
Select Country -> Different country
Select Language -> English
Hit "OK"
LG Software phone update must launch and begin to update the software.
Stay back and wait for reboot!

Thanks flashed the latest european

I'm gonna flash mine too if the update doesn't suit to me.
Also, following your given url, there is a link which points to a list of firmwares here. This is just a copy of the first edit of my thread lol. It seems that I was the first to publish those links. If some of you speak german, you can discuss here.

What are the differences between V10A and V10B?
Any changelogs?

Untill now:
I have spotted one more app: RemoteCall
I think that is not as hot as before when I surf the net, use GPS or view YouTube, but I am not sure... too soon to tell

I have RemoteCall in V10A

Maybe orange Romania removed RemoteCall because they don't provide this level of support... I don't know.....
No other differences spotted...
I can't tell for sure, but it seems to have a better battery life. After 13 h 22 ins, is at 86%.

Tell me ... If I unbrand my phone ( as far as I can see it has the lg firmware, not the orange one, although it was bought from orange ), and flash the latest firmware, can I later restore it to the original one in case of warranty issues? thanks in advance

I've seen that link, but didn't get... what should I understand ?
Also, unfortunately I can't perform a flash with kdzu. When I try to read info it crashes

My P970 does not work - turned into a paperweight
Translation by tradukka. (rsrs)
1 - when I turn the phone into the computer by holding the volume + PC finds the phone does not appear over the screen "S/W upgrade please wait while upgrading"
2 - Even so did the upgrade process and it happened as expected, giving dll error until the phone restarts.
He changed the boot screen (VIVO) by LG screen. the problem is it takes the LG logo and then flashes the screen and the buttons and does not enter the android.
please need help, because now I have a paper weight $ 500 .
I also have a SE X10 and X8, and none of them gave me trouble. This LG is complicated.

well, I'dlike to help, but I'm not a dev, only a contributor who wanted to make things fowarding with this thread.
Also, to get the s/w screen, you must pull out the battery, then hold V+, then plug the cable. It must work. Try flashing to a stock firmware, that's the only thing which I can advise you.

When I'll arrive at home, I will write a step by step guide from A to Z.

hmm? I wanted to write my own guide too, but if kdzu cant read phone info I dont wanna risk to flash, even if it should work anyway.

Phone is getting as hot as usual...

FAQ
AFTER ROOTING I SEE ONLY ROOT VALIDATOR BUT NOT THE SUPERSU APPLICATION?
As some people reported there is sometimes problem with the rooting procedure files can't be extracted properly (applications, binaries) so from today (04.08.2012) in every new update there will be an extra second alternative root zip file recognized with the letter "b" in the end of the version number. As always in life we must have a B PLAN. In this root zip file package it will be only the SuperSu application and the supersu binary, no Busybox, Rootvalidator or anything else. So if the rooting procedure from above didn't work for you then you should run again in recovery mode the universal_gb_unroot_v8.zip to delete all the half extracted files from the root procedure previously done. After that you can apply universal_gb_root_v24b.zip known as Root Only.
IMPORTANT: If for some reason after rooting with the universal_gb_root_v24b.zip want to install Busybox then when you open the application it will give you a location to install busybox to /system/bin (this is for the reason becouse there is no busybox binary in this root zip file) you just need to simply relocate the installation to /system/xbin (to relocate the path simply press on the text /system/bin it will open a new window and change it to /system/xbin) . This is for a reason becouse in the future you might want to remove busybox and many times happend that it can't be uninstalled properly leaving all the applets in bin folder mixing the files with the system files from your Android OS. Then you need to install root explorer and delete all the applets manualy and trust me is a painful job. So the problem it will be solved very quickly by installing in /system/xbin. if you don't like it to have anymore later just use the procedure for unroot (READ: HOW CAN I UNROOT MY PHONE?) universal_gb_unroot_v8.zip it will delete all the remaining stuff from busybox in /system/xbin and use again the universal_gb_root_v24b.zip to root.

THERE IS NO SU BINARY AFTER ROOT?
From today (02.04.2012) I can proudly present the third update zip universal_gb_c.c.b.s.f_v7.zip. C.C.B.S.F stand for "Cleanup Carrier Branded System Files" What makes this package very interesting is allowing you to cleanup your System files (applications) from your branded carrier provider such as Shops, Music, Web Launchers, Widgets...Games: Tetris,Sims3 etc ...making free space in the system partition ROM (not internal memory) so later the root installation can take place and have a sucessfully rooted phone. This package will clean up most of the carrier providers like:

IMPORTANT: The universal_gb_c.c.b.s.f_v7.zip can be applyed in recovery like the rest of the zip files for root and unroot. It will delete all Carrier Branded System Files (Applications) without to interfere with the system files of Samsung Stock ROM's all functions will work normaly only the applications from the carrier branded apps will be deleted. In order to bring them back you need to unroot your phone and make a Factory Reset and all will be back as usual. This zip file should be only applyed if you have Carrier Provider Phone (like the above list already mentioned) and can't root the phone becouse of the carrier apps making a full capacity of the Android OS (system partition).

I HAVE TRY ALL THE ABOVE METHODS NOTHING IS WORKING?
Chapter I
-Removing Quickoffice-
Well some Stock Firmwares have been made that in the system partition you can not even copy via recovery a single file. So my task search begin and finaly I found the bug to solve the problem. In many Stock Firmwares they put Quickoffice application, this stock firmwares in some cases are very problematic to make root on them. So finaly here is the solution and very simple to make a free space for rooting. Apply in recovery the universal_gb_remove_quickoffice.zip and then you can use the universal_gb_root_v24b.zip to finaly root your phone. So Quickoffice will be deleted from your system partition but you can always install the Quickoffice.apk whenever you want and it will be installed on your SD card (you can have the rooted phone and using again the Quickoffice). If for some reason you need to take your phone to the samsung service center problem with hardware, software or anything like that you can reverse the process to install Quickoffice back to the system partition (if you have installed the Quickoffice.apk uninstall it first from the Task Maneger)using first the universal_gb_unroot_v8.zip to unroot and after that use the universal_gb_install_quickoffice.zip to install Qucikoffice back to your system partition and all will be back as normal.

Chapter II
-Removing Thinkfree Office-
Same as Chapter I in many Stock Firmwares we find the application Thinkfree Office, this stock firmwares in some cases are very problematic to make root on them. The solution is very simple we just need to make a free space for rooting in your system partition and remove Thinkfree Office. Apply in recovery the universal_gb_remove_thinkfreeoffice.zip and then you can use the universal_gb_root_v24b.zip to finaly root your phone. Thinkfree Office will be deleted from your system partition but you can always install the ThinkfreeOffice.apk whenever you want and it will be installed in your internal memory (you can have the rooted phone and using again the Thinkfree Office). If for some reason you need to take your phone to the samsung service center problem with hardware, software or anything like that you can reverse the process to install Thinkfree Office back to the system partition (if you have installed the ThinkfreeOffice.apk uninstall it first from the Task Maneger) using first the universal_gb_unroot_v8.zip to unroot and after that use the universal_gb_install_thinkfreeoffice.zip to install Thinkfree Office back to your system partition and all will be back as normal.

HOW CAN I REMOVE ROOT VALIDATOR I DON'T NEED IT ANYMORE?
- You need to open SuperSu application and under "Apps" press the icon or the text for RootValidator. A new window will open and press "Forget". Power off your phone and enter in recovery mode to apply universal_gb_remove_validator_v3.zip file.
Download link for Remover of RootValidator (by StoneBoyTony) : universal_gb_remove_validator_v3.zip
HOW CAN I UNROOT MY PHONE?
- First thing you need to remove all the applications that they are depended from root, after that open SuperSU -> Settings -> Full Unroot and press Continue. Your phone will reboot once and after that enter Recovery mode and use the universal_gb_unroot_v8.zip to delete all the traces remaining. If you were having Superuser app (the older one) just get in the Recovery mode and then apply the universal_gb_unroot_v8.zip
You can download the UNROOT (by StoneBoyTony) from here: universal_gb_unroot_v8.zip
What's new in this version:
- Deleting all traces of Superuser
- Deleting all traces of Suhax
- Deleting all traces of Busybox and Busyboxpro (and all applets created in xbin that they are symlinked causing sometimes Busybox to fail of uninstalling them so that problem is solved i add them all to be deleted and for the leatest version 1.20.2. )
- Deleting all traces of Superoneclick
- Deleting all traces of SuperSU and SuperSU Pro
- Deleting Root Validator
- New signed release key of the zip files for better compatibility on the phone models (new)
*NOTE* - FOR ALREADY ROOTED PHONES WITH SUPERUSER
For those who already have root with Superuser or any other kind of root method and want to update your root with the new SuperSU package you need first uninstall all app that they are depended from root then apply in recovery mode the universal_gb_unroot_v8.zip and enter again in recovery mode to apply the universal_gb_root_v24.zip or you can use Only Root universal_gb_root_v24b.zip .
This is how it looks rooted phone you will have application SuperSU

install root apps like root explorer, titanium backup or freespace.. if these apps prompt you to allow or deny SU access, choose allow.. if you're phone is rooted, SuperUser app will display that these apps were granted superuser permissions.. simple..
new version
would be great of we could get a new version cut (V15 ??) with Thor's recommendations as well....
I am nearly at wits end with this S5830T rooting issue.

DOWNLOAD THE SKIPSOFT UNIFIED ANDROID TOOLKIT *HERE* (FROM SKIPSOFT.NET)
NOTE2: As the exe files are not Digitally Signed with a Microsoft Certificate they ‘may’ get picked up as potentially harmful by Antivirus Programs and deleted on first run. If this happens restore the file and exclude it from future scans to use it. This seems to happen mostly on AVG Free and Norton which is why I switched to BitDefender which is much better.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUBLIC (FREE) AND PROFESSIONAL (DONATE) VERSIONS?
THE PUBLIC VERSION OF THE TOOLKIT INCLUDES EVERYTHING YOU COULD NEED TO MANIPULATE YOUR DEVICE. NO MAIN FUNCTIONS ARE RESTRICTED.
ACTIVATING THE PROFESSIONAL VERSION ADDS THE MOST USEFUL FUNCTION IN THE TOOLKIT, THE ABILITY TO CHECK FOR ‘AUTO UPDATES’ DIRECTLY VIA THE TOOLKIT AND HAVE THEM PUSHED TO YOUR PC RIGHT AWAY AS SOON AS THEY ARE UPLOADED WITHOUT NEEDING TO DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE TOOLKIT EVERY TIME. YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE LATEST VERSION AS SOON AS IT IS MADE AVAILABLE. THIS MEANS SMALLER UPDATES CAN BE SENT OUT MORE FREQUENTLY, SUCH AS ADDING A SINGLE FUNCTION, FIXING A BUG OR ADDING COMPATIBILITY FOR A SINGLE CARRIER. THE SMALLER UPDATES WILL BE COMPILED AND RELEASED TO THE XDA COMMUNITY AS A FULL (PUBLIC) DOWNLOAD VERSION SO PROFESSIONAL VERSIONS ARE ALWAYS UPDATED SOONER.
THE PRO VERSION ALSO ADDS THE ABILITY TO CHECK FOR THE LATEST VERSION OF SUPERUSER AND RECOVERY FILES AND DOWNLOAD THEM DIRECTLY TO THE TOOLKIT.
THE ‘QUICK PICKS’ SECTION[/B] ALLOWS YOU TO PROGRAM UPTO 10 SLOTS WITH TASKS THAT YOU MAY PERFORM ON A REGULAR BASIS OR JUST WANT TO KEEP A SET OF TASKS IN 1 PLACE. THEN JUST SELECT THE SLOT AND IT WILL REMEMBER ALL YOUR SETTINGS FOR THAT TASK AND RUN IT.
IF YOU FIND THIS PROGRAM USEFUL PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO YOUR CHOSEN DEVICE TO GET AN ACTIVATION CODE FOR THE PRO VERSION. YOU WILL FIND THE PRO FEATURES VERY USEFUL, GET UPDATES DIRECTLY FROM THE PROGRAM AND SUPPORT FUTURE DEVELOPMENT. WITHOUT DONATIONS DEVELOPMENT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTINUE.
AUTO REPLY LINKS FOR PAYPAL TO GET A CODE INSTANTLY CAN BE FOUND AT http://goo.gl/nyGqv

2. USING THE UNIFIED ANDROID TOOLKIT
When starting the Toolkit you will first be asked which device you want to work with. The basic Toolkit files are included in the full install package but if you select a device then the working folders will be created and the device files downloaded. Once the files have been extracted the Toolkit will ask if you want to check if an Update is available (for pro users to download/install). If you type ‘no’ then you will be taken to the Model/Build selection screen where you can do a number of things:
Type ’00' to enter your activation code and enable pro features, ‘i’ will take you to the Information and Help Section, ‘a’ will give you information on how to add support for a new build, ’99' will take you to the Basic Toolkit for quick use or if you do not have a supported device and want to perform general android tasks.
Supported builds are listed in the Model/Build selection screen and typing the associated number (i.e. 11) will download needed boot and recovery files (stock and custom recovery) then check for and download the latest custom recovery and superuser files available (pro versions only), verify all the files and start the Main Menu. You can now use all the functions and tools the Android Toolkit offers.
The Information section which you can get to from the Model Selection screen or from the Main Menu has a wealth of help and frequently asked questions. If you need help then please look there first before asking questions in the thread.

**FAQ**
Q. Help me I can't find my build in the Model Selection Screen
The Toolkit includes a selection of Insecure Boot Images to cover all the different builds available. As there are very many different builds it is impossible to include an image for every single build but some builds share the same Boot Image. If you have a build that isnt listed on the Model Selection Screen you can therefore use a similar build. The best way to go is up to the next available build as it should offer more compatibility with the build you are using but if that isn't available then try the next build below your one as it should still be almost identical as long as it is the same version (ie. 4.1.1).
The Model Selection Screen is there so that if a task in the ToolKit requires an insecure kernel [to perform adb root commands] and your phone doesnt already include one, a compatible boot image [with an insecure kernel included] can be flashed to provide adb root access.
If you have a Custom Rom flashed to your phone then it will most probably have an insecure kernel included so it doesn't really matter if your build is not listed on the Model Selection Screen and when asked [by certain functions] if you have an insecure kernel on your phone you can answer 'yes'. However if the function fails then your kernel may not be insecure in which case you can flash one from the ToolKit. If you need to do this make sure the right build [or closest available build] is set so you flash the right image for your phone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. What is ADB Shell?
Adb shell is a linux command line tool (because android is based on linux) used to send commands to your android device. For S-ON devices, this is crucial for modifying files in the /system partition (where the rom sits) as you cannot modify anything in /system when the rom is running without S-OFF like removing system apps.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Why do I need to back up my IMEI/EFS and how do I do it?
There well protected section of your device that is virtually immune to any kind of flashing and manipulation (unless of course you know how to access it). This part of the device contains information such as IMEI (or MEID and ESN in the case of CDMA devices), programming parameters for the device such as your account information (phone number, etc), data provisioning parameters, and a whole bunch of other things that, when not handled properly, can render a device completely useless. All of these are contained in the infamous \EFS folder. If anything messes with your EFS folder, unlike flashing a device (which could potentially lead to bricks as well) it could render your device completely useless as it will no longer be recognized by your carrier. If you are not planning on flashing anything to your device and want to stay on pure Stock then you may never have any problems but it is still advisable to backup this information just in case (better to be safe than sorry).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Does flashing a custom image increase my flash counter?
Any image that is flashed via Odin that has been modified will increase the flash counter that can be viewed in the Download Mode on your device (if booted by holding the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons). You can reset the flash counter using an app by Chainfire called Triangles Away and can find instructions on how to use that in the Downloads section in the Toolkit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Will flashing Stock ROM via odin using the toolkit replace everything that was flashed before? recovery? etc?
Yes a Stock Image flashed via Odin will replace all your key partitions (boot, recovery, system) with the stock firmware. If you want to reset the phone back to an 'out of the box' state then you want to enter recovery and do a wipe first which will reformat your userdata partition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I flashed Custom Recovery but each time I reboot the Stock Recovery is back
There is an auto recovery restore system on certain Stock Android Builds that will reflash the Stock Recovery if you flash CWM on a Stock Rom.
Use Root Explorer to Mount the system folder as R/W (or use a free app from Google Play such as ES File Explorer). Rename the files /system/recovery-from-boot.p and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh (requires root). Now when you flash Custom Recovery it will NOT be overwritten after a reboot. You can also do this via the Toolkit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. My AntiVirus program says the Toolkit files may be harmful
The exe compiled files are not digitally signed with a Microsoft certificate (as they cost money) so certain AntiVirus programs (mainly Norton and AVG Free) may pick it up as potentially harmful when it is not. They will pick up ANY file that doesn't contain a purchased Microsoft certificate in the same way. Just Restore the deleted file and exclude it from further scans and it will be fine. Or switch to a better AntiVirus program such as BitDefender.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I flashed the Toolkit Boot Image, now my wifi + bluetooth won't work
The boot images are made from Stock with only needed changes made to the insecure boot images [modified adbd, default.prop and rc.local edited] and will work on all stock roms. If you flash them to a custom rom and the rom has been altered or uses a custom boot image then it will boot but certain modules may not load such as wifi or bluetooth. In this case you can use the boot image to root or perform adb root functions but will need to flash back the boot image for the custom rom to get other functions working again. This is not a fault of the Toolkit but a difference to stock in the custom rom.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I am having trouble getting adb working with the drivers installed
Try switching your connection type from media (MTP) mode to camera mode (P2P). To do this open the notification area, click where it says connected as and change from MTP to PTP.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I want to send my device back for warranty purposes
1. Follow the instructions to reset your flash counter with TriangleAway.
2. Download and flash a Stock Firmware image from the download section.
3. Boot into Stock Recovery and perform a wipe/factory reset
.
Your internal storage will be formatted and data and cache wiped. Your device should now be back to an out-of-the-box FULLY STOCK state with the flash counter [shown if you boot to download mode manually] reset and ready to send back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. When connecting the phone I get 'USB Device not Recognized' and no serial number shows in the ToolKit
I actually had this problem recently and what fixed it for me was to make sure that the drivers have been installed, then shut my phone down plug the usb cable in and restart it. The phone booted up and the device was recognized and drivers installed correctly. May not work for everyone but worth trying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. "Superuser/SuperSU has stopped" message after rooting
After updating Samsung device to newer builds of Android [4.3 and later] which contains the new security from Samsung "Samaung KNOX", you might face a problem if you tried to root your device.
This might happen because of KNOX security, it blocks/disables the Superuser app and you will see this notification after the first boot:
"Unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped" or "Unfortunately, Superuser has stopped" depending on the root method you used.
The easiest way to fix this problem is by installing the superuser apk file. Select option 6 from the Rooting Section and the Toolkit will attempt to extract the superuser.apk file from the root zip file in the Root folder and if successful it will then be installed. You can then run the app [Superuser or SuperSU] from the apps list. A warning message will pop up saying Samsung KNOX has been detected and ask if you want to try and disable it. Click OK, KNOX should be disabled and your device should now be properly rooted.

Installed drivers. Started toolkit. Choose my Gear section. Choosed option 5 for Allinone root, recovery, busybox, backups. Then Watch went into download mode. USB debug enabled. Odin opened. I put tar file in pda slot toolkit provided. Hit start. Then it hangs for awhile.

Hey Mskip, I have used a few of your toolkits in the past and have found all of them very useful. I have donated to upgrade to the pro version of all of them. I was just curious if you were planning on doing anything for the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 tablet. I know there is the CF-Auto tool but I need something to root the Verizon version which is the SM-905V. Thank you in advance and keep up the excellent work!
Question
First thank you for your hard work in coming up with this process!!
Do we know if this will work with the newest galaxy gears? (gear 2, gear 2 neo and gear fit) My understanding is these devices aren't running android at all but an OS called Tizen. I know very little of this OS but I can say that the UI of my neo is nearly identical to my OG gear which makes me wonder if this method will work.

The new Gear smartphones work on Tizen as you said and the Galaxy Gear module will not work with them. I don't have a Gear 2 yet and don't know if its even rootable but if anything can be done with it in the future I will definitely look at adding it.
Mark.

Hi Op, I have used your toolkit on my nexus 5 and other samsung phones..so first thanks a lot man. Now I just bought a new gear. Whenever I select option 5 allinone and try to go to the folder in my C drive I dont see any tar file. I selected version 4.2.2 in the start. It says no extra files will be downloaded. I really want to root and install TWRP.

Hi I just got a gear and am about to root... And wanted to make sure this toolkit was fully functional?
I see the most recent post were having trouble.. Was it fixed?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Its not donation, its purchasing and no i dont want to buy your product, you could have warned me before i did all of this. good day
Hey MSkip, I guess the latest updates put the Gear 1 on Tizen also. Your program ask to make the tar file and upload. I was wondering if you already have this update and are working on adding that to your program. Thanks. I also donated for the gear but have not done anything to it yet. I may root / install TWRP according to the forum threads in the mean time. Here is a link to the latest rom unrooted http://samsung-updates.com/details/30439/Galaxy_Gear/SM-V700/BTU/V700XXUCNF1.html it's the Great Britain file, but from what I understand it's the same for the US. Take it easy.
Chris
UPDATE: Tizen became really boring...so I'm back to Null rom. What was I thinking, it's nice and slick and good on battery. But even with root and setting up SDB (Sammy's ADB) and trying to customize a clock it was no longer exciting. So I came back to what I know and can use the MSkip's tool again.
Chris
Great work! Thanks!

NOTE: Key files are signed with a Digital Certificate from skipsoft.net but some ‘may’ get picked up as potentially harmful by Antivirus Programs and deleted. They are not harmful, this is a false positive given because of the compiler used. If this happens restore the file and exclude the folder from future scans to use it. This seems to happen mostly on AVG Free and Norton. If you are using the Auto Update feature on pro versions then you will need to disable the AV program or exclude the folder from scans before running the update again.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUBLIC (FREE) AND PROFESSIONAL (DONATE) VERSIONS?
THE PUBLIC VERSION OF THE TOOLKIT INCLUDES EVERYTHING YOU COULD NEED TO MANIPULATE AND ROOT YOUR DEVICE.
PRO USERS CAN ALSO SELECT THE “ANY BUILD” OPTION IN THE BUILD SELECTION SCREEN TO ROOT ANY BUILD AS LONG AS THE VERSION IS SUPPORTED (USEFUL IF YOUR BUILD IS NOT LISTED).
MORE IMPORTANTLY DONATING SHOWS YOUR APPRECIATION AND ALLOWS THE TOOLKIT TO CONTINUE TO EVOLVE AND GROW.
AUTO REPLY LINKS FOR PAYPAL TO GET A CODE INSTANTLY CAN BE FOUND AT http://goo.gl/nyGqv
--------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE READ THE *HELP* PAGE AT http://www.skipsoft.net/?page_id=1269 OR USE THE INFORMATION SECTION WITHIN THE TOOLKIT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. I HAVE TAKEN A LOT OF TIME TO WRITE IT AND SOMETHING ON THERE SHOULD ANSWER 99% OF PROBLEMS.
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. INSTALLING ADB/FASTBOOT DRIVERS
The first thing you need to do is to install the adb/fastboot drivers. These are needed so that you can unlock your bootloader, root your device and perform other adb/fastboot functions.
THE DRIVERS CAN BE INSTALLED DIRECTLY VIA THE TOOLKIT. OPTION 1 IN THE MAIN MENU.
If drivers are not installed or there is an exclamation mark next to the device:
Plug the device in to a usb cable directly connected to your motherboard.
In the Device Manager a new item, usually called Android 1.0 should pop up in the list.
Right click on the device item then left click on Update Driver Software. Select 'browse my computer' and then 'Let me pick from a list'.
If no adb interface driver appears in the list then untick 'Show compatible hardware' and find the Android or Samsung adb interface driver.
If you cannot find either of these click Have Disk, browse to the Toolkit install folder, drivers folder, click on android_winusb.inf and click Open.
Click OK and select Google ADB Interface.
Make sure you have USB debugging enabled in settings, developer options. In Android 4.2.2 or later you have to enable the developer options screen by going to settings, About on your device and click on Build number at the bottom 7 times until it says You are now a developer. If you have already enabled usb debugging then unplug/replug the usb cable.
On Android 4.2.2 or later when you replug the usb cable after enabling usb debugging for the first time you will get a popup asking you to authenticate your pc. Tick 'Always allow' then click 'ok'.
--------------------------------------------------------------
2. USING SKIPSOFT UNIFIED ANDROID TOOLKIT
When starting the Toolkit you will first be asked which device you want to work with. Working folders will be created and the device files downloaded. You will then be taken to the Model/Build selection screen where you can do a number of things (other than select your model/build): Type '00' to enter your activation code and enable pro features, 'i' will take you to the Information and Help Section, 'a' will give you information on how to add support for a new build.
Supported builds are listed in the Model/Build selection screen and typing the associated number (i.e. 11) will download needed boot and recovery files (stock and custom recovery) then check for and download the latest superuser files available and custom recovery (pro versions only), verify all the files and start the Main Menu. You can now use all the functions and tools the Android Toolkit offers. Pro users can select the "any build" option to root any build (useful if your build is not listed).
--------------------------------------------------------------

**UPDATES**
**VIDEOS**
**FAQ**
Click OK, KNOX should be disabled and your device should now be properly rooted.

mskip..you may want to add that the NA models of the 705 and maybe 805 too cannot make cellular calls even though have LTE data...there have been several threads on this..most recent one in the original development section posed as a question..
this was discussed here already clarified by oldblue (am sure elsewhere too)

Thanks for the Kit,
I'm looking for a perfectly stable ROM for Tab S 8.4 SM700. The only ROM I saw that seems stable is Iron-man. Are there any other ROM stable for SM 700?
Amazing job!
Thank you very much.
Thanks for this toolkit and for replying to my email, all working ok now.:good:

Yes. I think there is a typo in the toolkit. It should say SMT800 instead of SMP800
Donated & THANK YOU!
Hi. Thanks for the tool, I'm looking for the root access and I'm wondering if your tool can support the newer version of Tab S 10.5 based on 5433 SoC (i.e., SM-T805K)
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&...b_s_10.5-inch_broadband_lte-a_samsung_chagall
I have this 5433 model from Korea, which the shell cmd tells me this: chagall. I could not find any root tools for this.
many thanks
Howdy-
I donated so that I could use this toolkit with my Tab S. Works great.
I also made another donation so I could use the Pro version with my Galaxy S4. Unfortunately, when the Pro version loaded up I saw it doesn't support the SCHi545 Verizon version of the phone. I immediately emailed the tool author to see if he would send back my extra donation since I could not actually use the tool for the S4 and because I had already donated for the Tab S. Been over a day and no response. I got the activation code within minutes but no reply the other way around.
I have a question, this root changes Knox to "1"???

My guess is this post has to do with that link to the custom TWRP recovery and that it's all a scheme to get us to click through. He could easily post the mega.nz link directly. I might have to say this one is a false flag unless someone else can hopefully prove me wrong.

I will upload to personal server today. All methods work and been tested. Should not need decryption key for any files. Will post new links today.
All links have been updated and tested multiple times. If you can not get this to work it is something you are doing wrong. Either you do not have the MetroPCS variant or you did not follow directions. Make sure you are using the LG Leon MS345 10 d/e/y and you follow directions. I have personally tested these methods numerous times and all work without a problem. Thanks.
Do Not flash this on a LG Risio from Cricket. It will hard brick and no longer power on =( Flashes fine though, lol
I have that issue with supesu binary update. I finally got it to say installed successfully after trying to update it immediately after root checking. Although after i did the reboot kingroot showed up in the notification bar to root again. Any advice?

Will it work for LG-H324t v10c Philippines?

You guys are better off trying the XenonHD ROM. Much speedier than CM 12 at least on the MS345. Check it out here. Please be sure to read through the thread though. There are a few minor issues, especially with the camera not working, same with this CM 12 ROM. Third party camera apps may work though.
Hello XDA.
This afaik is where the gurus Nest, and I'd really appreciate some help.
MS 345 (leon)
Status/operability. (using windows 7)
Boot = loop / Fail. (optimizing app 1/31)
Download/Firmware Mode = accessible
Factory Reset = accessible, but avails nothing.
Android MTP device driver installation (Fails.)
LGE Mobile USB composite Device (Installs)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Background/info:
I want to either go stock on this phone, or get the system to forget about "optimizing apps" and actually BOOT.
LG suite cannot communicate with Device.
Flash tool will complete – but I cannot revert this an older version.
Phone uses a custom “Factory Reset” script/menu. Its all pretty whereas the usual stock android ones are text based only.
History :
( When it had original firmware
>>Brother Does his handiwork (Problem) phone hangs during MetroPCS logo Animation. Factory reset at this point avails nothing.
>>Flashed to later Revision of firmware from LG / Metro Rev b. to d.
>> Optimizing app 1/31 – goes to around 22, reboots before finishing. Endless.
My suspicion is that the phone doesn't have enough free space to do what it needs to re:moving operations Mind you, I'm a novice when it comes to the android realm, but i could not clear the cache due to the strange recovery menu / bootup rom LG uses.
At this point I reckon my options are :
1. Access the partitions directly using ADB / a partition tool and wipe the partition so I could flash it with the original OS.
Is this a viable option? (apparently NOT, because I cannot enable USB debugging)
I have downloaded and installed Android Studio, and even tried the stand alone SDK windows package.
Here where my obstacles:
ADB cannot see phone. command:adb Devices)
Again, People recommend putting phone into USB debug mode in Android>Settings. But that's not an option with a 'bricked' phone. I tried to manually install several drivers (for MTP) but none of them work, only the composite ones. But I didnt know whether MTP drive would be mandatory to access the partitions.
In my most recent attempt at fixing this phone, I've tried (or attempted) the instructions found on these pages:
(removed)
Strangely even though I can use the flash program and operate on the phone, I still cannot use ADB to access the phone so I can wipe the partitions.
If anyone knows how else I could REALLY wipe this Android, or think I am on the wrong Path. Please, please help.
ps. This guy said I CANNOT revert to a previous OS:

Hi Everyone,

--------------------------------------------------------------
USEFUL INFORMATION
How to get into your FastBoot Mode
1. Turn your phone off
2. Unplug your usb cable if you have one plugged in
3. Keep holding the 'Volume Up' and 'Power' buttons to boot the phone into FastBoot Mode
How to get into Recovery
1. First boot into FastBoot Mode as described above
2. Scroll down with the 'Volume Down' button until it says 'Recovery mode' at the top and press the 'Power' button to enter Recovery

**FAQ**
**VIDEOS**
I have finished all the work on the OnePlus modules for the 1, 2, 3 and X devices and it is ready for testing.
You can download and test the Toolkit from the link in post#1. Please remember that this IS a test version at the moment as I do not own any OnePlus devices but I have checked all the code thoroughly and don't see any problems. I am especially pleased with the unlock/lock routines and will probably implement the code for the Nexus modules if it works well.
Everything can be checked (and please do) except downloading a stock build directly from the Toolkit as I am waiting to hear back from AndroidFileHost to see if I can get direct links to use in the Toolkit. The fastboot flash routines are working though and the Toolkit will detect the storage of the device (16GB or 64GB) and flash the relevant userdata image so you do not have to do that manually anymore.
I have used the Universal USB driver pack from CWM so if anyone has not installed OnePlus drivers yet PLEASE test if this works. I did originally include the official drivers from OnePlus but they close the Toolkit when the drivers installation starts and thats not great.
The ALLINONE routine should work fine and I have sent out some pro codes to testers to check it all works.
All builds are covered and the correct version of TWRP will be downloaded depending on the build selected. Please check everything and let me know of any bugs or textual errors (as I used a lot of the Nexus code) so I can release it publicly as soon as possible.
Thanks, Mark.

1. I know you said you have already done this but yes you can download a full ota image from http://downloads.oneplus.net/devices/oneplus-x/ and use option 10 to sideload it to your device. I don't kmow if there are any fastboot stock images available for the OnePlus X but if there is you can flash that using option 9.
2. The Toolkit has full automated support to unlock and relock the bootloader. Just connect, make sure usb debugging is enabled and start the process.

Updated OnePlus X Device Module for Public (free) and Pro Users
Changelog:
+Added flash custom recovery before booting to it as per rooting guides
+Changed a lot of text to make it more relevant to the OnePlus devices
+Added text about disabling CM recovery protection in developer options to stop CM builds restoring the stock recovery
+added a bit more error control
+Fixed Toolkit going back to device selection when going to driver help screen
I’m still not sure if the Universal USB driver pack from CWM installs the recovery adb drivers. A couple of users have said when booting to recovery the device isnt being detected by the Toolkit. If someone has knowledge of adb drivers and knows their way around the device manager please look at the different modes and check drivers are installed.
Pro users can get the latest version by just selecting their device at startup and accepting the update.
Non Pro users have a few more steps.
1. Exit the Toolkit if it is open.
2. Run ToolkitClean.exe from the installation folder (or the Start Menu)
3. Select your device (OnePlus 1, 2, 3 or X) from the list
4. Type ‘y’ or ‘yes’ (without the quotes) to delete the existing module files and settings for the device
5. Restart the Toolkit, select the device and new module files will be downloaded/installed
If you want to donate to a device project please do it through the Toolkit (after selecting the device at startup) or from the link at http://www.skipsoft.net/?page_id=703 so you get the right code fast.

It's not letting me download via Paypal via pro, says I need to add funds to my account. My account is verified and I have used it as a "pass through" for payments and transfers before, why would this be?

Also, I'm backing up and the backup screen went away on my phone, app is still saying to unlock and confirm...nothing to confirm, is there something I need to do?

Sorry I don't know what your problem with paypal might be. If you send paypal a message or call them they are usually very fast at responding. If it turns out to be a problem with the Toolkit in some way please let me know.
