[Q] GR-12 back to stock - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Just wanna make sure. Is it safe for me to use Odin one click to go back to stock? I flashed gr-12 gingerbread rom using the instructions posted in that thread but I'm having problems with the rom and want to go back to stock. Im just confused about bootloaders and how I could brick the phone if I try going back to stock. Sorry if the questions been asked, I searched. Thanks

yes odin one click and only odin one click as that is the only thing that contains BOTH stock bootloaders...

Unless I'm horribly off base, you can use Odin One-Click to Stock to get the Eclair/Froyo bootloaders you'll need.
Just remember to back up your apps first with Tibu, and your /efs (nandroid backup).
OK I appreciate your quick response. Are you sure one click does bootloader? I'm from vibrant forums and they don't have one click bootloader, it just has rom and kernel

As far as I know, one-click contains the bootloaders. When I messed up my GB install, I used it to get back to the Eclair stock (with bootloaders) to head back to GB.
the stock 2.1 ONE CLICK does indeed include both bootloaders needed
when in doubt, odin one click.
Thanks alot guys! Very pleasant first experience in the cappy forums, really appreciate all your replies. If. I could thank you from my phone I would!

You can. You don't have you use the tapatalk app.
Just open this in your browser, then it's the full site including the thank you button

I have and I don't see anything about return to stock. I see an unroot option, or the firmwares. Is that it?

First page of the development section, about 15 threads down (stock rooted Gingerbread):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348637
Flash that, then unroot. Or you can use LGPNST to flash the V7 Gingerbread .tot file. Either way will get you back to stock Gingerbread.
I just used this method and didn't have any issues at all getting back to stock, and I was then able to install the ZV8 update as well.
This may be a dumb question, but if I use the one click root/unroot to unroot my phone for this update, do I need to worry about clearing the caches and removing the rom and theme first or can I just run the unroot.bat file and be good to go?
Anyone have an answer please?

You first need to flash the stock rom, then you can click unroot.
You don't have to clear your cache and previous data but it's recommended.

[Q] Is There Any Cwm Flashable Stock Rom?

After flashing numerous custom rom, I want switch to stock rom but I'm too lazy to do it from pc and odin. Is there any cwm flashable zip stock rom? I mean stock, not based on stock. I don't want to lose the root access after flashing too. I really appreciate if someone give me the link because I can't find any. I always find either odin flashable stock rom or stock based custom rom, not cwm flashable stock rom.

In the past i found a stock rom prerooted in a flashable zip.Search a little in forum and if u dont find it tell me to search
Random thought in my mind: Why the **** you want to flash the stock rom from cwm recovery.
If you're attempting to find an alternativr for Odin, well lets face it, mobile version of Odin is available, though I'm not sure it works on sgm.

The **** I'm trying to say is I want to use the convinience of CWM rather than using my pc to switch between stock and custom rom. If you don't get it, get lost! Don't even try to answer my question.

Yes to AmonRa!
hei, is this rooted already?
Whenever i have put the stock os i had to re-root my phone.
Hi!
Well, I restored this backup at least 5 times at my P500, and it was still rooted... always.
I read once something about phone "losing root", don't know if it's your case... there's some posts about this on google, take a little look!
Hope it helps!!!

Thanks for replying . Actually now that I think it through when i had flashed the stock one was when i didn't know much about these stuff and my phone wasn't booting due to what i was doing to it. And i had flashed it with the app from LG so i think that is why i was losing the root. i guess you would have to flash it from the recovery to not lose the root , silly me. thank you for the stock rom nevertheless
You're welcome! I never used any LG software, but your conclusion makes sense. I did this nandroid backup and restored all times with AmonRa!
