I presume you can email yourself a xap program and install it that way, otherwise, you need a pc or marketplace.

Yes, use a Mac or Hackintosh instead, lol

so.... after all windows 6.5 is more versatile, I miss it badly.
Thanks

Wont work says no file association what you click it. Tried it awhile ago.
If I knew more about programming Id be looking into it myself. Obviously wp7 has the ability since during some initial flashes of wp7 the last screen installs app. I assume those are the HTC apps that have the certificate with it but its still an xap. So can we make certificates to allow us to install third party apps on first boot. Or can we somehow use the files used in the initial setup to associate xap files so they will install when clicked.
Could be just a pipe dream but if I had more time Id look in the registry and files dumped from part04.bin to figure out what is ran at the end of setup.

Thanks for your response. If i install another rom, will i lose all my existing settings/programs/ and contacts?
And also where can I get other roms from? (Sorry to sound stupid, but just like to be double sure).
Thanks in advance!!1
Also no RPD build-in for me!!
Just install thisone, work perfect
Okay I have this installed on my diamond and have a few questions.
Im remoting onto a vista laptop, Im connecting okay.. however no matter what I set in the remote desktop mobile options, I cannot see any mapping for my handheld device to transfer files. Ive tried My Computer, Ive tried Network.. nothing. Why? Any advice?
Secondly, the pocketnow video demonstrating remote desktop mobile being run on the diamond in landscape mode. I see no option for this.. how can it be done?
Thirdly, if you run remote desktop mobile in full screen you seem to lose access to the disconnect button and SIP. Any suggestions?
The CAB file works great for me, but it's not possible to access the telephone's memory through the explorer on the remote machine, like described here: http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=5454
So it's not possible to get music from home for example... Does anyone know, why? Of course it's possible to put the requested files into a apache-folder and download it using opera, but thats not the best way.
I didn't see the message from "darthbane2k", but my questions are the same
I'm guessing the CAB file on the previous page is an older version with less features. Parhaps one from WM6, not WM6.1?
+1 for someone who would like the cab file for the latest-and-greatest Remote Desktop client for WM6.1
..am currently looking at two Diamonds (my now TLR2-based test unit and my 1.37.401.3-based stock production unit) and neither have it installed, however I do vaguely remember seeing it a while back on he test unit which originally was a HK import and thus old ROM. Guessing now removed (in some markets at least)?
Cheers.
Nope.. I definately have the new version as the allow device mapping is in the options. Even when ticked, I still cannot see my mapped device when connecting to a remote computer (Vista home premium)
It works fine on my diamond, both within the LAN as well as per 3G. However is there a possibility to get keyboard to be able to enter things as well?

Yup, it's plain WM6, not 6.1.
WM6.1 RDP
It did not work for me either.
So I started a petition on this blog http://max.zamorsky.name/2008/11/04...bile-into-touch-diamond-and-all-current-roms/ to collect comments as a means to persuade HTC and Microsoft to include RDP in every ROM by default.
They seem to misunderstand who their lead-users are...
Please comment to help me make our lives easier.

WM6 Remote Desktop & Vista Home Premium

Hi,
I have been trying all day to get WM6 Remote Desktop to connect to my vista home premium system.
I have searched high and low and haven't found concrete answers as to weather it is possible, I know vista premium doesn't allow you to use remote desktop but I found a patch that apperantly lets you use remote desktop but I couldn't get that working and the instructions were pretty crap.
Basically my question is has any body got it working with vista home premium or is there another piece of software that will allow me to control my pc from over the internet.
This is something that will be very very useful to me and I really need it.
Thanks in advance.

I had the exact same question as youself, Check out my post I made on the titan section. LINK If you scroll to the very bottom I ended up finding my own answer. The link goes to a blog site that has a zip file with multiple batch files in it. One for each specific version of windows vista. It will patch and activate the remote desktop service on ANY Windows Vista version WITH service pack 1. IF you have not patched with SP1 I do not know if it will work right. But I have seen patches for NON SP1 patched vista machines. I too am running Windows Vista Home Premium and patched it (takes afew mins by the way just let it run till it's finished) and you can then log into your home PC with the Windows Mobile Remote Desktop Client. Let me know if you have any questions.
I use logmein.com and it works.
cheers for the reply's guys
Yeh I had found that patch and tried it but it was only after I gave up it said an update is available and it was service pack 1 so that will be why,
Just trying logmein now see how that go's

[Q] Xperia destroyed!

I dropped it into the see, repair costs more then 2 new phones. I really liked the phone, and have two questions:
a) I've backup-ed my data with PIM Backup and sprite backup. Can I recover data for use with some other OS?
b) I wanted to get into mobile OS application development. Android is something I could transition easily because I've done java in the past, but windows 7 seems interesting as well. Windows 6.5.3 seems the thing of the past in that regard, so I'm not sure should I buy another used xperia, or go with different handset with different OS. Any suggestions?
About your Question bullet a.
I don't think there's an easy way to do that. I mean there's no specific application (that I know) able to do that.
But I can give two solution here.
1. Borrow your friend's WM.
Restore the PIM to that WM, then move 'em to ms outlook (using Windows Computer, of course!)
then using your OEM Android phone suit to move them to your android.
2. If you have no other WM (or your friend's WM can't be borrowed)
- Download Windows Mobile Emulator @ microsoft website (googling please)
- your backed up PIM should be restore using this EMU and then connect your emu to outlook through WMDC
- move the PIM back to android using your OEM's PC suit
The problem is in my case there's no option to restore SMS nor MMS. so...
For SMS, you may use SMS migrator.
SMS Migrator is a suite of tools that allows you to migrate your SMS Inbox and Sent Items from Windows Mobile to Android.
You may read the instuctions by Paul from MoDaCo for android (fortunately I bookmarked the link)
http://android.modaco.com/content/software/288916/windows-mobile-sms-migrator-beta-1/
But the instruction is not absolute success. I don't know the reason why. But it's fail on my Galaxy S but I'm not sure on my sold Milestone.
About your Q in bullet b, I don't get it. I'm not a programmer.
Hope this help.
thanks

[Q] MFG at HD7 doesn't work

Hello.
I have a T-mobile HTC HD 7 phone
I can't get access to MFG (need to setup MMS) by dialing ##634#.
After dialing the dialer just drop down and nothing more.
Can you help me to get the access?
thanks
Easiest way for me to set my tmous hd7 to work on simple mobile. I go into HTC connection setup, then at the bottom hit the "...", then manual select, wait few seconds pick from list.
If you carrier isn't in the little more difficult.

thanks. it seems this way is not good for me.
Connection setup is not working after updating . i can't find it in marketplace and of cause i can't install it via computer...
Have you tried searching the marketplace? After mango some HTC apps aren't in that section. If not look into the HTC provxml deployer and manually make the needed reg edits

I never tried transferring from a windows phone, but I believe HTC Transfer Tool moves bookmarks, calendar, text messages, contacts, music, photos/videos and settings from your old device. I used it with an old android and it worked seamlessly but it should work just fine with a windows phone. If all else fails, I suggest syncing all your important info with your google account.
yeah the HTC tool works great on an Android device but I dont think they have a windows market place app out.
Its really for txt messages, think I will have to move windows contacts by hand which is like hard work!! lol

If not then you should back up the data using Zune, and then use HTC Sync manager to restore all that data. I think there are much easier way to do this maybe saving all the data using a HTC account rather than manually copying the whole thing!
