Looking for a great screen? Look no further! - HD7 Accessories

Anyone looking for a great skin that is invisible protects like armor and has a
lifetime warranty look no further Skinomi is the best skin I have ever used. What
could be better than a great skin like that well how about great customer
service to go with it. I have gotten my skin replaced 4 times in the last 60
days and have received it in 2 days from order all the way from CA to KY. The
first replacement was my fault because I pressed to hard with the card and it
made a crease. I could have lived with it but why when I can get it replaced
lol. I faxed them the form with info from 2 different locations because I waited
5 days after the first and got no response and when I didn't hear anything
after the second fax I emailed them. They got back to me within 24hrs and
sent it out right away at no charge with a great apology. The next two came
with flaws in them so I sent each one back and got the same prompt response
and delivery each time. To top it all off since I had 2 with flaws they
reimbursed my $10 and didn't charge me the $2 for shipping each time. The
forth one again was my fault. There was a small hair about an inch down from
the top. When I emailed them asking if it was possible to fix it by washing and
reapplying or any other way they told me it was impossible because of the
special glue on it but said because I wasn't fully satisfied I could get another
replacement but would have to pay the $2 and that was ok with me. So I
basically paid $2 for a great skin with a lifetime warranty WOOHOO.

HD2 screen durability questionable?

Hi, amigos/amigas, in the HD2 accessories forum, there is a 17 page long stories of people and their HD2 screen crack from drops or being sat on...etc...
link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=613954
The question is that normal? Has any HD2 survive the daily accidents?
It is a disappointment if the 4.3 screen structural integrity is compromised its size and gravity. I am shock to see it happening and if HTC really did a thorough testing on the HD2.
uh..common sense??
Um.. if you drop or sit on your phone, chances are it will break. Its a $450 phone with a glass screen..
My advice, put down the popcorn and pick up a protective case. Can't fault HTC for customer error
Same story with the iPhone. They crack all the time - is it a design flaw - NOPE. Its a superthin piece of plastic or polycarbonite - if the case edge or back contacts hardenough the pressure from the impact should stress the screen to the point of breaking.
Don't put it in your pocket, bike with it or put it at risk. Like anything else take care of it and it will last. Unavoidable accidents do happen - thats why I carry insurance. I think if you dropped the phone from standing height on concrete in a flip type or metal case it will crack the screen just from the G's alone - on carpet it should survive.
i dropped mine for the first time a few days ago onto tile from about chest height. no cracks. the back and battery fell out though. maybe I'm just lucky. also i always have my phone in my front pocket with the screen facing towards my thigh which I'm sure has protected it from harm before.
I don't think people realize how thick and heavy the glass screen would have to be to even significantly reduce the chance of impact breakage. The one it comes with it is as thick and as durable as is practical in this form factor.
Durability is affected by price, cost of materials, and market demands. If you wanted it to be military-grade tough, be prepare to pay a large wad of cash for the phone. If you want it affordable, they're going to do what should function best for the average person living a normal (whatever normal means) life. If you want it to be durable AND slim, also be prepared for high prices. Right now, it's slim and affordable, so naturally, durability might not be as high as anyone would want it to be given the materials used.
And yes, this is all driven by the consumer, so the question is: what can 10 million copies of you afford to pay?

You mind sharing a picture of the type of case you have?!
Thanks goodness that the supplied soft case saved the machine twice!!!
One of them it fell right from my fleece and I even stepped on it(!!!) when chasing bus. When I picked it up, the cam cover was busted, but the screen was saved!!!

I would carry insurance on mine as well, and definitely was very close to purchasing it while i was still in my 14 day return period, but i ultimately passed it up.
We have asurion insurance on our nextel blackberries at the office, having delt with many replacements though asurion, its a gamble of you're going to get a new replacement or a refurb. Most often it is a refurb. The refurbs are not blackberry factory refurbs but either refurbed in house by asurion or subcontracted out. The quality of the refurbs are dubious at best, id be pissed off my HD2 were replaced with refurb of the quality of some of the blackberries ive received from them at the office. replacement casings are often not OEM but some 3rd party equivalent. ive received replacements from them using non OEM casings that dont even have the blackberry logo on the casings.
Asurion is still going to charge you at least $100 deductible on damage from drops, or water on top of your $7 a month premium, so lets say i go a year till i damage my phone thats already $184 out of pocket, plus the premium i still have to pay to continue the insurance. I figure if i go a year before i break it, ive got $184 extra in my pocket to put towards the purchase of a new one. in a year the price of the HD2 will probably be halved. Id be willing to out of pocket pay upto another $150 on top of that $184 im saving by not getting insurance and then purchasing a sealed box brand new HD2 that i know ill be happy with.
However in a year or so there will likely be something newer out, I may not even want to replace the HD2 but rather make the upgrade to whatever is new out there.

I do the "MonnieRock" insurance plan. I put $10 a month in a "Phone fund" piggy bank. If never needed for repairs / replacements it automatically turns into "Upgrade Stash".

But keep in mind that they make idk.. minimum 5x the $$ money they spent making the device when one is sold. so if 2 million of there devices have been bought at there retail value they can afford to make 10 million of something else and the process repeats.
I'm pretty sure the difference in quality from theiPhone to the HD2 is almost extreme.
I had the original iPhone for 2 years and that thing went through hell and back with me... and only the back alumnium part got scratched up. Never a scratch or crack in the glass.
Within two weeks of having my HD2, it slipped out of my hand from about three feet up (onto carpet) and the entire screen spiderweb cracked.
I've never been so pissed in my life. It seems like the HD2 screen is closer to glass, while the iPhone is more of a plastic/glass hybrid? Obviously someone who knows the exact specs can tell us, but that's just my theory.
HTC can gain ground on Apple if they don't cut corners and continue to be innovative (in materials AND design), unlike Samsung and other manufactoring counterparts.
(PS. about $175 to get a HD2 screen fixed at a cellphone repair store.)

You gotta factor in weight, shape, drop angle, etc. Every drop (unless under controlled conditions) is going to be different. As for the glass, they use something called Gorilla glass patended way back in the 60s and just now they found the use for it, capacitive touch screens. Same glass they use in TVs, kiosks, etc. Pretty cool stuff. Check out this article.
Sat on the phone, now the screen is able to be pushed in and a clicking sound can be heard. It's all good though, no more back pocket for the HD2!

I have this case. first of all I paid $22 for it and second, i didnt notice anything you mentioned on my phone...can you upload pics to show us?
Meh...I too have this case and none of the chipping. Pics would be great if you could.
you got ripped off. It's 20 bux
i want this case. how is the belt clip on it? does it work good? did you get it at your local tmobile store?
I don't own one of these cases, but I'd suggest you take a look at the two "knobs" that appear to be contacting the back of your case, and see if they either have sharp edges that are scratching or some type of glue/epoxy that might be reacting with and chipping your phone. As the battery door appears to be metallic in composition, your problem might be due to some type of chemical reaction.
Nah, it's definitely from the stand. I have that same case and I'm glad I clicked on this thread. Mine hasn't gotten there yet, but after reading this I noticed a tiny bit of rubbing. I'm gonna put a piece of tape over it. Thanks for the heads up.
No Problem
like i said i love this case we will see what body glove has to say tommrow and and btw i looked at my recipt and forgot that i bought somtimg else when i got it it was only 20 dollars sorry for the foul up
I bought this case before and from taking off a couple of times i now how scratches on the sides of my battery cover now... Stopped using this case after couple of days
Bought this case on launch day with the phone and dont have any damage from using the case.
Got a New Cover
Ok so after many customer service agents and long hold times i called body glove first then they gave me a number to call corporate after pretty much blowing me off asking for recipets they said they would send a claim form in the mail like any uses that anymore then i called t-mobile customer service which i do love because the people are so friendly and helpful they gave me the number to HTC which i called and got sent all over the place there (i still cant figure out why i had to call HTC about a body glove case that T-MO sold??) then i got tired of all of the running around and went to a local t-mo store the girl changed out my battery cover for a new one great i am so happy about that but what about the body case i asked she says if you do not have the recipet there's nothing i can do so i then asked just to trade it out and again no recipet no trade fine i said thank you and was very polite because she took care of my phone which is all i care about so the conclusion i have a good battery back but not new case guess ill just have to stick with that crappy rubber case that came with it till i can get my phone skinned over all im happy...
Please spread those periods of ellipsis throughout your post next time...jesus that was hard to read!
Thanks for providing your experience with this case. I was thinking of getting this one but after seeing this gonna have to think twice about it. So which case would be the most efficient?

Same here.
I thought it didn't scratch my phone either until about 2 days ago. The scratch is TINY but noticeable when looking for it.
But then again it seems it couldn't have been the case because its about 1/4 inch on top of the E in the SENSE part.
Doesn't bother me though since it's always in the case. If I get bored I'll polish it one day...

so your saying you will pay to damage your phone? Please give me an address and ill list my price to damage your phone and i'll put it in a case for you also
my wife and i both have this case, all good on our front. no scratches or such.
Just like everyone else,
I bought this case with the phone and never had a problem like you described. I rather like this case if only I didn't have to take it off every time I had to pull battery.
i bought this case from day one and not a single issue with it. I love it and if it wasn't for this case i would have a cracked screen on it(again). the one day i let my spouse use it to try it out was the day the phone fell and the screen cracked. I have dropped it from higher ground with the body glove case and phone was untouched but yet the day i don't have the case i drop it from knee high bench and screen cracks. wow. i trust and love this case. sorry to hear you guys are having this problem.
I have the EXACT same problem... I'm glad you went ahead and showed everyone. My problem is that I have 2 of the same case.... and I'm not in US for the next 3 months. So I figured I need to glue some sort of foam at the kickstand so it doesn't do it.

Body Glove Kickstand Case: BEWARE

So a few weeks ago I ordered Body Glove's plastic case with a kickstand on the back and apparently I paid too much for it. After putting it on my phone for the first time it immediately froze and I needed to use scissors to get it off. It scratched the back of my HD2 and every time I need to slide it off the phone it gets worse. Worse, the kickstand makes a loud click sound every time it's opened and doesn't seem like it'll last long.
Since I ordered both through T-Mobile do you think they would give me a new battery cover for free? They gave me my money back for the case but I didn't ask about the battery cover.
Well, seeing as you purchased both threw Tmobile, then i don't see any reason why they shouldn't help you with the prob
To tell you the truth, TMobile's customer service sucks, i had problems with my HD2 in fact i went through 5 handsets. I called and they were sending me my sixth one but it took 97 days to arrive. According to their exchange policy you have 90 days from the order date to return the defective handset or they charge you a restocking fee. ($490.00) and they charged me even though i hadnt recieved my replacement and would take the charge off my bill, i left them because of this, they are cheap and they arent in this for the customers.
sent from the phone that is EVO
body glove cover
i have had NO issues and love this case..1st off i never had the battery cover on with my case on so that's why mine has no scratches i guess? it just made since to me to keep it off since the soft reset is behind it. i have even drilled i little hole in the body glove plastic so i can reset it with out removing anything..i like the clear case and even added a sticker to the battery, so that it can be seen threw the case.
i have had the best luck with mine and wouldn't buy any other case....the stand holds up great and as long as your don't abuse it, "it will last" the noise how ever does seem to get softer as it gets worn in, but why does it matter?lol

I must confess that I doubt the veracity of the OP's story. I have had nothing but the best service with TMobile, and I've been with them nearly 5 years. 97 days for a replacement? Case that causes phone to freeze? I have had replacements: less than 7 days. I use the case: best ever.

Mail order is not a good answer, by the time it crosses the border, even though our dollars are as of right now equal, the border cost and shipping make the accessories more than double the price. i.e. $15.00 screen protector came in at $32.50 from one place I tried.
isn't there sellers in Canada? They really don't have to declare it a purchase but a gift.

Okay so I am trying these out. I have just ordered two of them... just in case I screw up with one of them. Hope they are my answer... if not my mistake will only cost me a few bucks. Thank you for the links! I will post again after I have placed one on.
The extreme guard is the one I tried out. Seem pretty good so far.
Got on in TO
I just got my focus a couple of days ago at the Rogers Plus at Wellesley and Yonge. They have the Zagg Invisible Shield screen protectors for the focus. Just put it on tonight- I like it so far, but it will take a day or so to let all the little bubble go away. Before I got the phone I had gone out to Pacific Mall to see what they had and there was nothing! Even the Rogers stores out there had nothing.
I was actually told by a very young asian woman at Pacific Mall that "...if I didn't mind my phone was a white peoples phone" and that "Pacific Mall probably wouldn't cater to me". I love Toronto... I really do. I actually paid for the ones in the links abouve from Extreme Guard but I haven't received them yet. They said 7-10 business days, I am hoping they will come tomorrow. I will report back when (if) they come.

So I mail ordered the XtremeGuard and it finally got here yesterday. I have to say I only needed the 1 out of the 2 that I ordered. The screen protector was easy to put on, it looks fantastic, there are no bubbles and it did not cost me $15-$25 at a local store like Rogers. It looks fantastic, although the die cut is about 1mm too short. No biggie though, and I am now not afraid to throw it in my pack or let other people try it out. (My iPhone friends seem to be uber curious - but then again they are not the Sheeple type)
I can whole heartedly recommend this company... and they were extremely inexpensive!
Great, thank you for the link ITDRAGON!
Just wondering but does anyone know of any places that sell invisible shields preferably in the steeles east region and not downtown? Really don't want to go searching store to store and order online
What is the texture on the Xtremeguard? Is it rubbery or is it smooth and glossy?
It is clear, not as glossy as the real screen and somewhat rubbery. At least that's what I make out of it.

Stay Away from Ghost Armor...

Yesterday I happened to be in the local mall with my 1 week old Sprint SGT and the guys at Ghost Armor flagged me down to sell me their product.
After listening to the sales talk, I decided to go with the Carbon Fiber back cover normal clear front.
20 minutes later I return and see the guy finishing the install by using an exacto knife around the camera on the back of the Tab. He hands it to me and it looks like my 5 year old son cut this out with a set of children scissors. The straight edges are not straight, the corners are a series of three straight cuts and he cut the circles out for the camera AFTER it was on using an exacto knife.
I tell him Im not happy and he says he will do it again.
Come back 20 minutes later and its just as bad as the first time. He says that they do not have the pre-cut SGT kit in carbon fiber and that he will order one and call me in two weeks when he has it. I tell him this is unacceptable and I want a refund.
He refuses to give me a refund stating that custom work is not refundable. I am not sure how this is legal given they have you pay before even seeing the product. After about ten minutes of heated discussion I ask for their names so I can contact their corporate customer service and all three employees refuse to tell me their names.
I tell the most loud of the three that I would like him to call security thinking a rent-a-cop could at least compel them to give me their names. He goes completely off the handle, starts SCREAMING " SECURITY, SECURITY". About 2 minutes later the security guard shows up and panics because the Ghost Armor employee is swearing, waving his arms and circling the kiosk like a rabid rhino.
He calls the local police department...
They must have been in the mall because they arrived quicker than the security guard and explain to me that they cannot compel the employees to provide their names, and that they will make a record of the incident.
I was also stopped by another mall customer who said she had recorded the entire thing on her camera phone and that she would email me the video so I could use it against the employees if I chose to take them to small claims court.
Today I received the video and its incredible... Alot of what the employee was doing/saying I did not catch when it was actually happening.
Needless to say, I came home an peeled the carbon fiber sticker off and sure enough there are two sets of CUTS around each of the circles for the camera.
I am not sure if corporate will provide any assistance, but at this point I am displeased enough to take this as far as I can.
Oh man that suxs, I ordered a cheapo skin from ebay for $5. Still haven't recived it. It would be funny to see that video.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I'm pretty sure they are required to give you there first name and employment identification number.
I feel for you bro, hopefully they compensate and all goes well.
PS, I also would like to see the video..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
This happened to me with my Samsung Omnia II prior to going to Europe for the summer. I stopped by their booth and they said they had the kit. I went to get some Euros from the currency exchange so I'd have some cash in Paris and came back to see my unit drying in a box. He removed it and I examined the fit. Sorry, nothing was right...I told him I wasn't happy and he said he couldn't refund as well...I took my phone, messaged Ghost Armor, they called him, and I got my money back for the product AND the labor (which is HIS money).
I had Ghost Armor installed ( full body ) for me 2 days ago for my Sensation and I love it. Have personally never felt a better screen protector.
No finger prints, no sluggishness when swiping the screen like the Zagg Shield and very thin. I cannot tell it is on the front screen.
Maybe it was just a bad install but they do a free redo within the first 7 days and after that its 5.00 for the front and 10.00 for back for life of phone.
Oakridge Mall Kiosk in San Jose if anyone cares.
My issue is not with the quality of the clear plastic, or even the quality of the carbon fiber material used. My issue is with the employees using scissors and exacto knives to carve up the material AND my phone/TAB.
Im sure if they had used a factory/pre/computer cut piece of material the end result would have been better.
If you wish to have some 18-22 year old with an exacto knife carving up your device, be my guest. But I would prefer to keep these people away from my property.
I had Ghost Armor on my hd2 and i really loved it. I guess for you its because of that employee not of Ghost Armor.
They put some unskilled employee on job with cheap labor price so that happened.
I am sure if u search online you will get customer service number to complain about them and company will find out who were they.

If you saw the guy cutting it up why didn't you say something, besides you normally pay afterwards so why pay and not just tell him it looked like crap?

Well, you are partially correct... They do have the pattern specific to the SGT. BUT they do not have the carbon fiber available. It is expected to be available in 2 weeks. Right now they only have the matte finish and standard clear finish.
Secondly, this particular kiosk requires payment IN ADVANCE.
Today I was contacted by Ghost Armor after sending in an email on Friday through their Web site. Ghost Armor listened to the story and forwarded my information to the company that actually owns the kiosk (they are franchises, and not owned or operated by Ghost Armor directly). The district manager called me at about 1pm and said he was on his was to the mall to speak to the employees. We discussed the details and I was told that I would receive a full refund, plus he would personally install the carbon fiber cover as soon as it is available.
I spoke to him again at 6pm and he had terminated both employees after speaking to them and to others who had seen what happened. It also seems that he has a slight "inventory problem" and that the employee was pocketing the money when people paid with cash.
The video will not be shown as I made an agreement with them to update this thread (it seems someone informed them of my post) with the updated information.
As I said before, I had no issue with the product. It seems to be a quality material that will offer the stated protection when installed properly. He also informed me that it was their company policy that the employees NEVER hand cut ANYTHING. If the kit is not in stock, they are to take the customers name and call them when it has arrived.
All things said, it just sounds like they had a couple minimum wage employees who were stealing from them and treating their customers poorly. As of this evening, they have made the necessary changes.

I work for a larger retail company and our names and our employee ids are on the top of the receipt.
I don't know if it is something they HAVE to give, but if does sound fishy to me. Sorry you had a bad experience, man.

I've never trusted mall kiosk employees to do ANYTHING right. It may have cost me extra but i taught myself how to install all my screen/back covers and protectors (yeah, ruined the first set on an old phone so i wound up buying the protector set twice) but ever since then it's easy.. and then there's no one else to blame if something gets hosed.
I'm with many people here on not trusting others with my expensive toys. I was going to suggest you contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint with the company, but very happy for you that everything seems to be settled. Except for the scratches left on your GT by the ijit people, of course.
Glad you got this resolved.
F those employees. At least they got their just deserts eh!
Maybe you should change the thread title to reflect how well Ghost Armour have handled this as it is a bit mis-leading now given you have had your issue resolved
