Google Navigator In Nook - Nook Color General

As you know, Nook owner who are not in USA are unable to run Google Navigator.
Now, with Ownhere, google navigator is available to all android users anywhere round the world.
Anyone has it working in your Nook?
I tried but unsuccessful installation in my Nook.
Help appreciated.

If im not mistaken the nook doesn't have gps?

No, it doesn't, but there's an app called TetherGPS that lets you use the GPS from your phone, or you can get a bluetooth GPS device.

I was saving this link to try it one of these days after I had my SC card issues worked out:

Can you elaborate a bit more, please? What version of Dolphin HD are you running? How did you access the apps tab from there?
Which image did you use for rooting?
The new Nooter image (2.12.15 released 14/Dec/2010) does all of these things for you. If you re-read the isntructions on Nook Devs you will see this spelled out for you.........
Interesting. The page must have been updated after I rooted. Very good tablet fr the price. May just reyurn my galaxy tab.

So are you saying that you actually used the new auto-nooter-2.12.15? And that you didn't sign into YouTube, then sync Gmail before firing up the Market?
I don't think I used the new version after all. I certainly did not follow the new steps. I had an existing account from my tab somaybe that made the difference. If there is any wayto tell which autonooter I am usingg I can check that. It was very sttage because at first I got an error message when connecting to marketplace directly but I was ableto getthere jsing the apps link from dolphin hd.

[Q] copilot or navigon on Xoom

Does anyone know how to get either of these working?
have you tried it? i have a license from my old windows phone that i put on my galaxy s a while back, it was as easy as installing the apk and then registering with my existing key.
I have tried Copilot several times. Not loading
I am trying this on a XOOM.
Copilot will not load
iGO works, but the highest resolution is 800x400 so the nav screen is small. I am using the moto higher resolution version 8.4.2.
I called ALK yesterday. Their support staff told me that they weren't aware oof any device that had Honeycomb. They have not, yet, started testing.
How can you be a developer for Android, and not have Honeycomb to test with?
The tech checked with his manager. They NEVER heard of the Motorola XOOM!!!!!
Scary

Lets just leave it at "100%" not true.
Any more information you can remember about the call would be helpful.
How did you guys get CoPilot? It only shows up in the web android market and says that it's not compatible with Xoom?
I sideloaded it.had it on my phone beforehand

Does it scale well with the Xoom sideloaded?
Hmmm. I installed on my EVO so I can sideload. How do I find the apk on my EVO? I downloaded Astro and did a search and nothing came up.

hehe well, i'm frm Symbian background, where I could get any paid app for free easily. This is my first android device, so will kind of take time to get used to it. And 23 euro is costly for me here in India
Sygic is pretty good. Also navfree works and its ok.
+1 for CoPilot for navigation. For hiking, Prus Maps is nice, and free.

I'm using GPS Grid Reference from the Market. I've downloaded all the Ordinance Survey tiles at all resolutions for SE England on my PC and pre-cached them on the SD card - i.e. the phone doesn't have to get them off-air any more. There are instructions how to do this on the app dev's website.

Possible Way to Install Google Wallet

Engadget recently posted about a Chrome extension called APK Downloader. It allows you to download the APK for any app on the market, including those that may be blocked by your carrier. My first thought was to try Google Wallet for my T-Mo Nexus S. I was able to get it installed and add the prepaid card. I haven't had a chance to try a purchase yet, though. Let me know if it works for you.
I can't post links yet but just search APK Downloader on Engadget for info on where to download it from
After I got APK Downloader installed in Chrome, I googled "Google Wallet site: play.google.com" and then used the extension to download the APK to my Dropbox so I could quickly access it from my phone.
If anyone has a chance to do this and make a purchase, let me know. I'll give it a shot tomorrow

Just used wallet successfully
I can confirm that the above method worked for me. I was able to install the app, add the prepaid card, and successfully buy something with it.
I have not tested this on a non-rooted phone, although I imagine it could work since you do not need to be rooted to install an APK outside of the Play Store.
One other note for rooted users, there is a persistent banner on the app that says "Unsupported Device. Learn more." This means exactly what it says. It is unsupported so the Google Wallet devs aren't obligated to help you if you are rooted and have problems with the app. This does not mean that the app will not work.
One more update: it looks like after installing the app in this way, it shows up in the "my apps" section of the Play Store, allowing you to update it (providing it's an update that doesn't break it for root users).

It's due to the regional and carrier settings. In the US, I believe its only available for the Sprint Nexus S 4G, and not available for anyone else. This method allows everyone else to update and install google wallet.
Hey,
Thanks for this link - I managed to get the app installed (i9020 bought unbranded, on T-Mobile UK, totally stock unrooted 4.0.4).
However, when I start the app up, I still get the "this app is not supported in your country / on your network" error.
I guess it's because I'm in the UK? Any way to get around this?
Thanks,
Suman

As a Canadian I have yet to find a way to do this short of driving 30mins to the border, hopping on a US network and trying then. Might need to switch sims as well.

Hmm, ok... so does the device permanently have to be on a "supported" network for the Wallet application to load up, or does it just need to get activated first?
I have an old AT&T GoPhone SIM somewhere (in my crypts!) which I could possibly use in the phone, but I don't know if roaming would work...
Will have to give it a go and see what happens!
Try market enabler and spoofing to T-Mobile US, you need root though
Works for me

My device is totally stock and unrooted and currently locked bootloader - do you have a step by step guide for how to get Market Enabler working?

I am the only person outside of the US that Google Wallet shows up in my Play Store?!
I'm in the UK and my Nexus is a completely stock i9020T running 4.0.4. The app doesn't open properly because "my country is not supported" but I can still download from the stock Play Store app :S
anyway to root without wiping on 4.0.4 ics stock?

Zinio

I've been trying to find information on how to get Zinio working on my NST. I have googled and looked everywhere for information on this. Does anyone have it working out there? I've tried to download Gingerbread versions of Zinio, but they don't seem to work. Am I missing something, or am I just out of luck?
The Zinio website states that the Android app is not compatible with the "Nook device". Presumably they mean one of the tablet forms, so if it won't run on those, it certainly won't run on the NST.
rooted

thanks for your reply. However, Zinio is compatible with rooted nook devices. I have a nook color and a Nook Tablet both of which have been running Zinio just fine. My question is about gingerbread compatibility with Zinio. I wonder if anybody has experience with that. Since my nook simpletouch is rooted, I thought it might be a possibility. the website is accurate about non rooted devices, but not rooted ones.
Gingerbread compatibility seems irrelevant, our NST isn't even close, we're running 2.1 Eclair.
