[ROM] Rogers Branded 2.3.3/3.0.1.A.0.145 ("Facebook Inside Xperia" update) - Xperia Arc Android Development

Rogers branded Xperia arc ROM extracted through PC Companion, run through SEUSdecrypt, repackaged with Bundle Package in Flash Tool.
Version: 2.3.3 ("Facebook Inside Xperia" update), 2011 June
Baseband: 7X30A-AAABQMAZM-1290_21-22
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1
Build: 3.0.1.A.0.145
NOTE: I had issues flashing with 0.2.9.1 beta and had to use 0.2.8.
Flash Tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
NOTE: As of 2011-06, v2.3.3 CANNOT be rooted directly with GingerBreak/SuperOneClick (yet). To maintain root, you must upgrade from v2.3.2 by flashing over-the-air (OTA) from .181. See instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115542
Previous Rogers ROM thread (v2.3.2, 3.0.A.2.181): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088539
This works on ANY Xperia arc.
Your arc does NOT have to be rooted.
Your arc does NOT have to be bootloader unlocked.
This does NOT re-lock a SIM unlocked phone (unlocking is ONCE and PERMANENT).
This does NOT unlock your bootloader.
This WILL wipe your phone & root. Backup first.
You MUST have BOTH PC Companion and Update Service installed.
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?uen7h027tc0ci (264.76 MB, single flashtool file)
Please do NOT mirror files.

Update to v2.3.3 and keep root.

I have an unlocked Rogers branded arc and it's rooted too. It shows an update but I can't do it OTA. Tried twice but still not working.

Did you modify 2.3.2?
If yes, change that mods back to stock and OTA should work.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App

What do you mean modify? I sim unlocked it, then rooted it, and changed the launcher. I didn't do any other modifications. Bootloader is still locked. I changed back to the arc launcher, but its still the same issue. It downloads the update, and then it shuts off then it appears to be updating, but when the phone boots back up it said it cannot update.

i think its because your sim is unlocked

how do i reset my arc back to 2.3.2? i accidentally upgraded to 2.3.3 with my computer when trying to restore it back to stock 2.3.2 because the update wouldnt finish for me, i got the "cannot update software" error, so i thought restoring it completely might have helped....

Probably means some system files have been modified. As shown in the video in the 2nd post, flash BACK to v2.3.2 using my other Rogers firmware thread and then update over-the-air:

Nope. SIM/network unlocking has NOTHING to do with flashing/rooting/updating and is completely independent (and permanent).

I think I know why I can't update OTA. It may be because I removed some of the Rogers bloatware via titanium backup. I just tried the Flashtool to restore it back to the stock 2.3.2, but it came up an error and I had to use the repair tool via the PC companion to fix it. At the same time, the repair also installed .145 on it and I lost root.
I once again tried using Flashtool to install back .181 on it, but again error came up and had to fix it with PC Companion. Any ideas? I guess I'm stuck with unrooted 2.3.3 for now then?
The error that comes up in flashtool is that it tells me to turn on unknown sources and debugging. I actually already have both turned on but it still shows me that error

Which version of the FlashTool? It's rather finicky. It often fails on one of my desktops, but not my laptop (both are Win 7 x64). Try another computer, another version of the FlashTool (as stated in the original post, 0.2.9.1 doesn't work for me).
Just keep flashing until you get back to Rogers' v2.3.2.

I used 0.2.8.0 and it didn't work. I tried 0.2.9.1 and it didn't work either. I changed to a different computer but still didn't work.

1) Yes
2) I don't know. I used Windows XP laptop and a Windows 7 desktop. Not really sure if that's disabled on Windows 7
3) I'm positive its connected correctly. Hold back button and plug USB.

First, Mr. Rogers passed away in December 2008: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Samuel_Rogers
Second, WHY are you in a Rogers thread, asking for an international ROM??? FAIL.
There are LT15i ROMs in the forum...
e.g. [System] Rooted LT15i 3.0.1.A.0.145: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044201
[ROM] Xperia Arc Firmwares 3.0.1.A.0.145: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093523

My Battery was at 78% when I flashed back to .181 / 2.3.2
After rebooting the phone after the flash.
My phone is now 1% Battery.
Not sure what happen...
Solved: Remove the battery and wait 10seconds. Boot up and its 76% now

Bluechip,
I'm on Rogers 2.3.3 right now as the OTA wasn't working for me and I did the update via the update service. So I'm going to flash back to 2.3.2 and root, then OTA.
Question is any advantage of doing a generic US rom or global rom over the Rogers one? I don't carry about warranty issues as I know I can flash back to Rogers anytime. I guess most of the bloatware won't be there or is it just pretty much branding and no other differences?
ie: will the generic get updates quicker than the Rogers branded ones?

Typically, the generic firmwares are updated before branded ones (due to the addition of carrier apps and customization). Different generic firmwares have different applications. e.g. UEFA, PlayNow, etc.
However, the North American v2.3.2 isn't update-able over-the-air to 2.3.3 (to maintain root). There is a USA version through Wotan Server (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126409). That's what I'm currently running. I need to make a video about it.

[Q] zergrush root with custom rom, want to unroot to stock

I run through the zergrush rooting process and later installed Checkrom v5, with no problems at all.
Now I want to revert back to stock rom + unroot so I can use Samsung Kies to download new offical firmwares when they are released.
I downloaded N7000XBKK4_N7000OXXKK5_NEE (offical firmware for europe) and installed it though Odin. The phone boots and everything looks ok. The problem is that I'm not sure I've completely unrooted. An app called "Root Checker" said I was not rooted, but Samsung Kies still doesn't want to recognize my device.
I'm afraid to run the zergrush root and unroot again, since this is kinda new to me still.
Could anyone give me some pointers to get my phone to a complete stock state with no root?
Thanks alot in advance!
Option 1. Disable USB Debugging mode
Option 2. flash still Old Stock firmware using PC Odin
Option 3. Update Kies and USB Drivers
Option 4. Try different PC.
Thanks for the reply Ranjan.
I disabled USB Debugging mode, and now Kies can find my device, but it says my phone can't be upgraded through Kies. Any ideas?
I useually got this message when I had custom ROMs installed, but as I stated in my first post, I've flashed back to stock rom for Europe region (I live in Norway).
this could be due to your CSC. My guess is you are not on the same ROM version for your region. May be you should check for a more specific rom?
try this
N7000XXLA6---------2.3.6-------2012 February-------N7000XEULA1--------------Europe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
I will give it a go anilisanil. Thanks for the reply
I updated to your suggested ROM, but kies now says "unit does not support software upgrades through kies", rough translated from norwegian.
Any more ideas?
So far u have latest update. so it ll say like that. anyway if your detects your phone then everything is OK.
Thanks Guess I'll just have to watch and see what happens when they roll out the new ICS update sometime soon
Thanks for all the help!

Help on upgrading to ics firmware

i have a unit with UBKK1 baseband version, which i learned was a brazilian rom. Now i currently live in the Philippines and i cant get an ICS update thru kies here because of the rom. i went to the samfirmware site and found a Philippine rom, my question is can i flash this rom over the old GB brazilian rom using odin without any problems? my phone is currently unrooted thru the one click method, it was previously rooted thru the same method.
Ive also read you can change the country code, if i change it to the Philippine code and update thru kies will it work??
if you change the csc then yes you should be able to upgrade with kies tho i always download the rom i want then use pc odin its just a personal preference
Why don't you download Stock ICS ROM directly.... And flash it using pc odin??
can i download any stock ICS rom and just flash it with odin without any problems?
Yes you can.
Ive just now rooted my note on brazilian rom (stock GB rom), if i upgrade to the taiwanese rom using pc odin will i still retain root? and do i need to uncheck the usb debugging before proceeding with pc odin?
No you wont keep root.
Yes uncheck usb debugging.

if you want to flash phone in odin then phone should be in download mode, usb debugging is not matter, and you can root your phone again after flash, vie cf root make search at xda you will found that.

I would buy Mobile Odin Pro from the market, and flash this rom from here http://www.hotfile.com/dl/156659405/b6c3080/N7000DXLP9_N7000OLBLP6_XTC.zip.html . This will flash the correct rom and keep root.
thanks for all the helpful replies, i was able to successfully flash taiwanese ics firmware update using pc odin. and you guys are right, i did lose root. now the only problem is how to go back on root as i've frozen a lot of apps on titanium backup before and those apps aren't showing after the update. it seems like flashing over to a newer firmware didnt reset the phone. all my previously installed apps are still there.
Guys, after updating to ics, i couldn't install apks using astro file manager or even the stock file manager.Pressing the install button won't work. Previously on gb stock rom everything works. Is this an ics bug?

how do i get back to 2.1 from 2.3 ?

I recently updated my phone to 2.3.7, and now i want 4.04
But for that, 2.1.1.A.0.6/2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware is required.
And after upgrating to 2.3.7, firmware is changed, and i've lost my previous backup, so i cant restore it.
Now how to i get my previous firmware ?
Please help
you don't need to change the firmware or move to stock version, you can upgrade to ICS if you have unlocked bootloader
Use Sony PC Companion or Sony Update Service.
If you have never update your phone to 2.1.1.A.0.6 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 it's required to do that before flashing cm9.

Straight Answer
Simply get flashtool. Then the stock 2.1 firmware. Open flashtool. Then drag the firmware from desktop onto flashtool in the white space. A menu will pop up. Click ok. It will ask you to plug you x8 in flashmode. (instructions for this will pop up. When you do this the instructions will dissapear. Then it will flash the stock sony 2.1 and then reboot.
flashtool: Here
firmware: Here
Please click 'thank' if you appreciate my effort. Sorry if this wasn't what you were looking for. For a simple fix just use pc companion as said before. But it takes longer.

Problem restoring IMEI

I'm now starting to bang my head against the wall. I ave just bought an Orange locked I9305 which I only wanted to unlock to use on another network. Unfortunately I couldn't unlock it as it came with 4.1.2. I read that I had to downgrade to 4.1.1 which is where the problems started. I followed the instructions at the start of this post and made a backup of my IMEI / NV Data which went well. I then installed Odin and tried to install
Product Code: GT-I9305TADEVR (4.1.1) (EE UK)
PDA: XXALI5
PHONE: BVALI5
CSC: EVRALI5
Released: 17/09/2012
from the Pre-Rooted / Original Stock Odin Packages! thread.
I thought this had gone well but it got stuck rebooting at the Samsung screen after the start up swirling screen for at least an hour. I then tried to install the
Product Code: GT-I9305TADEVR (4.1.1) (EE UK)
PDA: XXALK3
PHONE: XXALK2
CSC: EVRALI5
This also got stuck and after another hour I tried to install a stock rom from http://samsung-updates.com/ which was I9305XXALI5_I9305EVRALI5_I9305BVALI5_HOME.tar.md5
This worked and it installed 4.1.1 but when I went to unlock the phone it didn't have any of the menus and when I checked the IMEI it said null / null.
I then though that this isn't too bad as I can just restore the IMEI but when I tried to connect through QPST it sees the port (Com3) but cannot see the phone so I cannot do the restore.
I have tried re-installing QPST after deleting anything in the registry that mentions it, I have re-installed the samsung drivers, I have flashed Param_Bin_I9305.tar.md5 with odin, have rooted properly as there was no superuser app with both busybox and I9305 clockwork mod. These worked ok as I was able to install triangle away and use it and have supersu in my apps.
Does anyone have a clue as to what I can try next as thinking of going back to HTC as I have had there phones since windows and never had a problem rooting and unlocking them
Just a thought I have looked at the box and it says the phone is I9305 PM will this make a difference

After the initial downgrade all you had to do was reset to factory settings to make it boot again (recovery mode). I would suggest installing the ROM that came with the phone to see if it magically springs back to life.
Restoring back ime
I had the same problem yesterday, but luckily for me i restore back my IME by flashing the paraffin with odin. But the rom on it as at the time when i lost my IME was warmalite. Try the warmalite and then the paraffin this might help.
Thanks guys,
I finally sorted it as it must be a problem with the Pre-Rooted / Original Stock Odin Packages. I finally got it to work by flashing a different kernel, I then unlocked the phone to any network and flashed a 4.1.2 Pre-Rooted / Original Stock Odin Package where it lost all its IMEI again. Flashed a new kernel and all working as I wanted it too as it's now unlocked on 4.1.2.

The difference is, if I am correct, you are no longer able to use any other kernel. Stock kernels, as well as CyanogenMod or other AOSP-based kernels will no longer properly set up your modem for you, you will need to always run Samsung-based ROMs with a Perseus kernel.
The same is happening with my device, and I have seen a few others as well.

Right! It happens with my device as well.
I recently tried Adam Kernel which you can download using the Update Me App in Ripper ROM and it worked, my phone worked. So right now you can either use Perseus Kernel which is really good or use Adam Kernel which is far close to the stock one. That kernel isn't in a thread, you have to install Ripper ROM and then download it through the Update Me App if you want to use it.
I just wanted to point that out

Sadly no, my friend. Any reason in particular about why you want this specific update?
Let's hope somebody else in this forum can help you.
Are you running a stock recovery? Have you tried using Myth Tools to flash back to stock?
Its running stock rom from factory everything is factory right now
I kept getting the dead Android as well. We're you running a KK ROM on your phone before restoring to stock? I was running Validus and tried to use Myth Tools to flash a stock ATT 4.1.1 ROM which also failed to take the update. I then installed a 4.1.2 Bell stock ROM (my phone came from Bell) via Myth, let the phone boot, and then flashed a stock ATT ROM via Myth and it took the update.

I am on 4.1.1 from the factory. This is a referb phone from the factory like not even a week old yet. Boot loader isn't even unlocked. Its all stock and I'm getting dead android.
If you're getting the dead Android, it makes me believe that something may be wrong with the stock recovery. Some people were able to get the update to install using the latest Philz Touch recovery rather than stock recovery.
