[Q] Benefits of firmware update??? - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A week ago i brought new Samsung Galaxy Ace S8530 from day 1 to this day i am facing severe battery drain problem... yesterday i connected my cell to kies through Usb and then on my screen Pop up window came saying Firmware update i have attached the image of that firmware update version..
So all i want to know is what exactly a firmware update does..& most Important does it increases the battery life of Android cells!!!

The firmware update is released,
1.To fix the bugs that were present in the previous version.
2.To add new features and updates.
About the battery drain, I don't think that the fw update will increase your battery life.
But you can use battery calibration app for that. Also juice defender works well for me.

some custom roms also require firmware update for it to run properly

Overcome 2.0.1. Battery stats

I installed this rom few days ago. And when i look at battery stats i see android os 90+%, screen 2%, internet 2%....
Why? My Battery holds for 12-13 hours and I think That's OK ... but why are battery stats incorrect ?
I don't use taskkiller, oc to 1.4, yesterday I deleted some system apps in order to bring this down but no improvement ...
I deleted sns services , feeds and something widget, samsung update, samsung kies services ...
But android os in battery stats remains the same..

This was a bug/defect in JQ1,the Italian Gingerbread from which Overcome was based. It has since been corrected on the latest Asian gingerbread. On my gt the display is now top of the battery stats while android OS at the bottom.

So which custom rom doesn't have this bug? I did some research and everybody are giving their praises to overcome ...
Does battery last longer on rom that doesn't have this bug?

Battery drain Samsung official 4.3

Hello all
I updated my phone today to 4.3 via sammobile and until now i am with abnormal battery drain. Even charging with usb cable in pc, still the battery level is going down. This is not a normal behavior since in 4.1.2 it dont happen. Is anyone getting this? Maybe flashing a modem to my region will solve it? (I downloaded the germany update, but im in brazil)
From my s3 my experience is the same. Unfortunately 4.3 have so many bugs. Go back

Do not think it's battery problem, nor the upgrade.
Something similar happened to me a couple of months ago, the problem lies in the cable.
Samsung cable series brings is a% & "· @ @ # # # I suggest you change it and you will notice of change, do not give more around the bush :good:

Thats the problem, before i update to 4.3 i had thos problem and switched the cable to an LG one and the problem was gone.. until now
But i read somewhere that a wipe could help. I did the wipe and the battery is normal again. Anyone having this issue can try a factory reset like me and test to see if problem is solved

Fast battery drain

Hey everybody on d XDA Forum. I recently sold my Xperia U for this S3 LTE. I receive uograde to 4.3 but after i upgrade the battery life very bad. I need a way to solve this. If not i go back to xperia u and no more samsung for cause same thing happen to me with galaxy y
I noticed too an higher battery drain since the update... I tried to freeze all samsung bloatware, to block system sync but it's nowhere near the screen time I could get under 4.1.2
See multiple posts and see 4.3 battery post above this one .
It's a problem many people are facing...
Well, this a problem apmost every smartphone user is facing nowadays. While Smartphones have gotten better and faster with the passage of time, the battery lives have gotten worse.
But male sure to turn off Wifi,Bluetooth,GPS,3G/LTE when not using them.
Using apps like Greenify and battery doctor may help improve battery life as well.
I oppened a thread about this battery issue. It seems like this drain is given to samsung blot apps, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615463
Battery drain caused by different issues different apps installed by different users. Install greenify and wakelock checker and u will know what apps are using or running in the background. For me it was mx player once. Then i reflashed another rom it was facebook and activesync email. So trial amd error urself. Thousands are saying battery is better then 4.1.2 so cant be the rom. Cheers

:good:agreed. Betterbatterystats & wakelock detector can really helps to find the drain problem. Then, use greenify & tasker. Nice combo.
Hey I have it with media server keeping my wife's i9305 awake.
After searching a bit. We found that it was ext SD. We formatted the card and it seemed good for a day. Now its back.
She has the dbt German official 4.3
Anyone having that issue? If not what firmware did you use to get to 4.3

happened to me before. Instead of disabling media scanner system app, you can install Rescan Media app by aditya.

[Q] O4x Bluetooth Battery Drain...

Hi! I recently adquired the O4x and have been using it with my sony smartwatch 2 on bluetooth.
However i have noticed that the bluetooth on this device drains the battery much more than on my previous device, the Samsung S2 LTE.
If I connect the smartwatch in the morning i usualy get like 60% of battery left by lunch whereas on the S2 LTE I would still have around 80%...
I have tried disabling the bluetooth visability but battery usage remains the same.
Also, i'm on rooted stock 4.0.3 rigth now. Do you think I should upgrade to 4.1.2 ? I´m asking because I read that the O4x gets very laggy and with low RAM after update... I dont want to flash any roms yet...
Thanks

AFAIK it will only get better if you upgrade to 4.3 or further, because there's Low Energy Bluetooth that uses considerably less battery (as I've read, I don't own any Bluetooth component to try it).

Battery Problem

MY samsung note GT-N7000 shows discharging and heating during the use , is there any solution plz help me
The newest Google Play Services are the reason. They take 98,2% from the battery of my Note.
Where can we download an older version, which doesn't do that?
Thanks
I solved my problem by flashing the latest stock rom (4.1.2) I could find for my Note using Mobile Odin.
Before that I was stuck on Android 4.0.3. Build in update service newer worked for some reason.
Now the google services battery usage is back to normal (2-6-%) for me.
I thought it could be of interest for someone here.
Only thing I miss after flashing is the clock screensaver when I place the phone in the charging dock.
Thanks for listening
