REQUEST: LG Optimus Black launcher - LG Optimus Black

title says it all

AFAIK Optimus Black & 2X shares the same launcher. then why not try the 2X launcher?
get it from here. it is basically a theme of Launcher Pro but you need to play a bit to make it working.

Install Andy's GB and try Zeam launcher it looks great....

If you want a really reliable, editable and stable launcher with lot's of amazing themes than use GO Launcher EX. I've been using it since a week ago and I don't want anything else.

I have a HTC Desire HD with Froyo and a Samsung Galaxy Ace with Gingerbread here.
Both with Go Launcher Ex (latest Version)
The App drawer is on the Galaxy Ace very smooth with Icon Effect: cylinder/sphere.
But on HTC Desire HD it is laggy.
I don't know why? Because the Desire HD has much butter Hardware as the Galaxy Ace. I think it is because of Froyo and Gingerbread.
I have order also a Optimus Black I hope it will be updated to Gingerbread soon.

my optimus one runs froyo but it has much smoother transition....
what GPU does HTC desire HD has? could it be because of the diferent type of GPU?

Also with Icon Style cylinder or sphere?
I think the HTC Desire HD has a Adreno 205 GPU.

Yes, even with cylinder/sphere effect...
does your desire HD still using stock Rom?
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App

Yes, my Desire HD has stock Rom.
I have receive now my Optimus Black 10 minutes ago, and I have the same result as my Desire HD.
Icon style cylinder and sphere are a little bit laggy but my Galaxy Ace is very smooth.
OK, I think you must compare it head to head with a Galaxy Ace to see the difference. Otherwise maybe you should not notice it, that it is a little bit laggy.

Yes, the same... It's really weird.. there can't be something wrong for the hardware since my optimus black quadrant score is by far higher..
So if there is something left to be curious at is the ROM.

Hmm you can't compare directly with galaxy ace because display resolution is lower (320x480). I tried go launcher on my friend's nexus one 2.3 and it runs very smooth.

Yeah the score is far better than ace in quadrant. Maybe the display resolution and an old powervr sgx530. Adreno 200 is a bit faster.

Hey, Ive tried most Launchers out there, but I have a problem with them. A few default widgets, like memo, music... dont work. I cant seem to find them in the widgets list. I need a launcher that will be able to add the default widgets as well. Never had this problem on any launchers on the Motorola Milestone.
Is there a launcher that supports the default widgets as well. A pretty annoying thing, to make a launcher and not support default widgets !
Any solutions ?

I think sgx530 is better from adreno 200 and comparable to adreno 205. My quadrant score for 3D is higher, 2D is a little bit lower though and neocore score about 7-10 fps higher....

It's not the launcher to blame for... but the widget on Optimus UI was made to used only by Optimus Launcher.... so you cannot use them in other launcher (at least until someone get it work)....

Dunno, I got 72-75fps neocore with galaxy ace running villainrom gingerbread 2.3.4. 54-56fps with stock 2.2. With black's stock 10A rom I only got 46fps. It's all depending on chipset configurations and installed rom by the way.

[Q] Why does my nexus one lag on live wallpapers?

Hey guys, I'm using the latest Cyanogen Mod, and I noticed that when I use live wallpapers, my launcher adw ex lags a bit when swiping through the homescreens and while using the 3d launcher. This is on a fresh install.
Live Wallpapers will slow things down a bit. Saying that, Launcher Pro and Nexus revamped from the Market are a perfect combination for me. The CM7 stock ADW runs like a dog in comparison!
It depends on the livewallpapers themselves. Some of them are poor written and it will drains both performance and battery.

[Q] TouchWiz 3.0 VS 4.0?

Hi , i'd like to know, what are the huge advantages of having 4.0 instead of 3.0? are there many huge differences? tbh, i kind of like the look of 3. (like the black background on launcher etc)
but i see everyone going to 4.0..
what are the huge advantages?
is it slower than 3.0? does it require more RAM to run? can you have both?
It looks MUCH better. Just search for 'Touchwiz 4.5' here on XDA. It's a heavy modified version of the original TW4.

4.5 is the modded XDA-version. Samsung didn't officially release TW4 for our SGS (only for SGS2).

Some one could just answer the guy, isit(T4) faster and what are the benefits over Tw3, he,s just being told "touch 4.5" is great. Probably is but we arn't getting to the root. Can't you just see the guy sitting there, to embarrassed to ask 1 more time, lol,.....any one know , he he?
Well, he should just try TW4, there are some ROMs with it too. It looks better (in my opinion). I would not say that it's faster.
And he doesn't have to be ashamed, XDA is a big forum and forums are here that people can ask questions.
Yeh haha xD
thanks for the replies guys!

touchwiz 4/4.5 has loads of FC and its not stable for some users including me... even though its fast and smooth i still prefer launcher pro
definitelly TW4 is much better than TW3
- TW3 does not have the 5 icon dock (only modded versions do)
- TW4 has better environment for placing shortcuts, widgets, wallpapers
- TW4 has better options to organize apps in app drawer (folders)
- TW4 is easier to scroll to any desktop within a second
- TW4 needs more resourses, but e.g. on JUWE 5.1 and Talon kernel it is smooth
I have never tried the TW4.5

It flies on the sgs2, but wondering how it would cope on the sgs1.

wonder no more: touchwiz 4.5 (you should probably get this one as opposed to touchwiz 4, but i can't since i haven't tried it) flies on sgsl as well; faster, in fact, than TW 3 (using xxkph, by the way; it's important because gingerbread adds 10 mb more to the ram)
it looks better, particularly 4.5 since i guess all those snazzy transition animations are xda's work (i've had hands-on time with the sgs 2 and those animations aren't there). and once you slap a theme over all of it...lets just say you're going to make your friends jealous
again, while i can't vouch for 4, 4.5 has one bug and it's that the stock samsung widgets won't work on it. it comes with a manager that lets you download fixed versions of those widgets AND sgs 2 widgets (all of them, except for calendar in my case, work)
trust me, take the jump to 4.5, you won't regret it (at least, i hope not )

Go launcher is smooth because it uses all your cpu .... to the max even adw doesn't do that.
Search the forum to find the lg home launcher and you can use that by default like i do.
For CM7 you can go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039246
For APK of the original LG launcher you can go here: http://www.optimus2x.net/index.php?topic=716.0

An Xmas gift for non-MIUI user from MIUI team -- MiLocker lockscreen app

If you are drooling over fancy lockscreen themes for MIUI but you don't have a MIUI rom, here u r. Now we've extracted the MIUI lockscreen as an app, you can install it on any Android rom(only 2.3 for now), enjoy.
search MiLocker in android market.

Runs good, but no option to use a custom wallpaper kinda sucks. Plus on most it displays chinese characters, which I don't know how to get rid of. Other than that, it's pretty nice.

Launcher Pro crashes with ICS

so I just got the update today and I'm very happy. However, I can't get LP to work on ICS. It closes everytime I try to select it and I get the msg "unfortunately, LP has stopped." Anyone experience this problem?
Its just not compatible with ics and no info on if it ever will be since the dev hasn't updated it in ages.

Go Launcher EX > Launcher Pro... By miles..
Haven't had any issues. In fact, I went back to using LP instead of ADW Ex because the latest ADW Ex update jacked up the dock and the older version has a dumb looking bar at the top of the screen, probably some weird honeycomb code. Even though LP hasn't been updated in 7 months, it's still working fine for me on ICS.
Just downloaded Go Launcher, thanks. I've been stuck on LP for so long bc of the widgets. Haven't customized my Nexus ina loooong time but ever since I got ICS, it feels like I have a new phone to mess around with lol.

If you want something similar to LP's widgets to use with Go Launcher check out APW. Free and Paid version. Or use GoWidgets.. Solid widget set though. - https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yZHIud2lkZ2V0cy5jb3JlIl0.
I also used Launcher Pro Plus on GB stock rom.
Actually on ICS is stock launcher the best - and instead of LPP widgets you can use "Android Pro Widgets" free on market (looks exactly like from LPP)
Launcher Pro will crash on ICS if you use the calendar widget. It should work fine if you don't use that widget - that worked for me.

On Gingerbread, Launcher Pro is still the best and smoothest launcher. I really hope that Fede has been working on re-writing the whole app and making it compatible for ICS.

To make the top row useable, limit the number of homescreens, custom number of rows and columns on homescreen, resizable icons, fully resizable widgets, etc.

Because all of the android stock launchers are freaking butt ugly. Especially the ICS version. It's no wonder why htc uses sense and Samsung touchwiz. Because if they tried to sell phones with stock android launchers they wouldn't sell many phones. Believe it out not, most of the phone buying world feels this way. For the most part, only the hardcore android fan boys like the stock launcher.

Just use Nova launcher -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
based on ICS stock launcher + lot of features (Docks, Grid,...etc) and Uber fast.
PS: And works when GPU rendering is on while GO launcher got artefacts/Gfx bugs.

It cannot even change page order now, and the re-build was said last year and what we get now? Not even a word about it.
I know we cannot demand anything from a dev so I just switched to another launcher
