all is signed by WP7_ENGINEER (so it cannot be flashed into RETAIL (WP7_PRODUCT) devices) but maybe specially that boot files can bring some use? possible convert phone to accept WP7_ENGINEER firmwares or some other use?
if any developer want take a look on it - write me there.

I would love to have a look at those files, could you provide a download link at all?

i8700_for_developpers_signed_wp7_engineer.part1.exe (190.73 MB)
i8700_for_developpers_signed_wp7_engineer.part2.rar (190.73 MB)
i8700_for_developpers_signed_wp7_engineer.part3.rar (190.73 MB)
i8700_for_developpers_signed_wp7_engineer.part4.rar (188.73 MB)

Links are all down. Could you please upload the files again?? I really need them! Thanks!!

You can flash ENGINEER firmware on your device by using this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249329
Being able to flash ENGINEER firmware on your device does not depend on which device(RETAIL or ENGINEER) you have.
It only depends on your firmware flasher software.
Samsung Cetus flasher has 3 modes.
1. WP_PRODUCT
2. WP_ENGINEER
3. WP_HYBRID
If you set flasher with WP_HYBRID, you can flash all types of rom (even WP_ENGINEER).

Thanks but what I need is i8700OMNKC1 (which is Vodafone Italy branding) and kc1 rom. In your link I can't find the CSC file I'm looking for, while in this post there were these files.
I simply need these files because as I update this rom (after having flashed to my phone of course) it becomes i8700OMNKH3 which is the last Vodafone update (product, not engineer anymore). I don't know if you can get my point :|

I found the solution, thanks anyway.

No ways to get these files back yet??

Let me re-upload the archive. I also re-packed it so it is now only <200MB archive (but contains all the ROMs)

There you go, all the files from the original upload re-packed into smaller file.

Those honestly sound like viruses to me. Like the stuff you find on the internet, "oh you want this pic? Download xxx.jpg.exe." DONT DO IT.
find the ROM links on this forum
I echo xsnipuhx. XDA is known for developer mods and ROMs and thus is a reputable source. Best to get it here if possible unless you trust the source you've downloaded it from. If you don't know where it came from to begin with then its not worth the risk.
i get them here, but they are links to 4share and when i download form there the zips turn into .jar files. which are some java type. but i just changed the extension from .zip.jar to just .zip and they functioned just fine. thank you guys though. btw i have a macbook so dunno if that has anything to do with the functioning working correct. Just flashed to Drizzy MyTouchFlo, real nice.
Ah, that could be why then having a mac. Well it works ^_^
Could you please edit your thread title to include [SOLVED] so mods and others know? Thanks

Has anyone tried to add Arabic/Hebrew fonts yet?

Hello,
Since my Galaxy S is coming very soon, I was wondering if anyone here has successfully added Hebrew/Arabic language so that we can see it in the browser and in SMS.
Any tutorial?
Thanks.
I did with Hebrew fonts and it is working fine. Delete the fonts under /system/fonts and copy the new fonts to that folder. I used root explorer to do this.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
For me
I rooted my SGS then copy tahoma.ttf from windows to /system/fonts/DroidSansFallback.ttf and it read arabic but reversed and it should also read Hebrew
So Hebrew is ok.. no problem.
For Arabic, I read somewhere that its reversed and they are not attached to each other (like space is between each character).. is it right?! Whats the solution to this?
Where can I download those fonts?
there is a full Arabic rom with the phone in UAE this is the proof but with out market we trying to dump that rom or wait until the rom uploaded to

you can dump /system folder that what we need by writing this to adb shell or terminal in your phone (your phone should be rooted and busybox installed)
su
tar -cvf /sdcard/dump.tar /system
you will find dump.tar in you scard (size ~268MB) and you can compress it and upload it to Rapidshare or mediafire or what ever you like
I will make it installable through update.zip or Odin3
Thank you

Mumtaz Hani, Great work man, I am downloading it right now !
Can I use JFF CSC file rather than the JG1 with your ROM ?
Hani, the link for downloading the ROM seems to have an Issue!
Indeed amazing work Hani,
I was wondering if you mind sharing the font files only, and if it will work if I install only them without the whole ROM since I already use another one. Will there be problems?
Thanks.
I have JG1 with JFF CSC, I'm going to try to install the update.zip only and see if it works !
I just went to that forum and noticed that there is someone that already asked the same question and Hani told him that he have to use Hex Editor or else it wont work.
Any one knows something about Hex editing that can make a mini guide on how to do it?
Thanks.
Hani amazing
It maybe a good idea to post this in english in xda...what do you think
I rooted my device and i pushed the market but unfortunatly i cant see protected apps anyone able to?

Yes, You can. Update ROM JPJV6. You can have English Interface and can read Arabic SMS and Browser and can type in both language.

A Quick Question about osKitchen

When extracting a ROM does it matter what ROM it is? I tried to upload the GSM Energy GTX Cookie ROM from July 24, and it said that there was an error while importing the file.
"Can't extract files or build packages from IMGFS structure. Please make sure the ROM is not corrupted, that it's an original ROM updated released by the manufacturer and not an user-generated ROM."
I thought this might mean that I needed an actually stock ROM so I have looked for stock t-mobile ROMs and they are all in the .exe file type.
I'm a little confused, anyone care to help a noob out real quick? Thanks!
May be you will get mor luck with answer here? Dont you think?
hehe, I was frustrated because I wasn't getting an answer, I sent airextreme a PM and he never answered. I posted here so that people could help me with TP2 specific things (like if someone suggested a different kitchen for the tp2 or something like that). I know, it wasn't the right thing to do. I would delete this thread If i could.
For reference to other people airextreme replied with this: "You have to import the EXE file: the kitchen will unpack it as long as it's a recognized one"

Request Stock unmodified framework-res.apk

Hy guys. I'm trying to create a theme for my phone and wondered could anyone upload the nexus 1's stock unmodified framework-res.apk?
Thanks in advance.
Tryed allready the search button and google to no avail.
How about starting with the fact that there is no "stock", you need to define the OS version / build? Specifically, it was originally shipped with ERD79, upgraded to ERE27, then Froyo came and it was FRF91, and now it's 2.2.1, FRG83. What is "stock"?
When you answer that question, why don't you visit my signature, download ROM of your choice from there, and extract the framework-res.apk out of it? It might take less time than waiting for someone to do it, especially that most people that are capable of doing it and have their phone rooted, run custom ROMs...
Alternatively, you could just get it from your phone.....
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
Sent from my Nexus One

First off thank you for answering. Second why all the "attack".
I'll refrase my question:
I would like, if I don't disturb you, an unmodified froyo stock version framework-res.apk.
Any version would do.
The reason that I don't extract mine is that I don't own a nexus 1. As visible in my signature I own a galaxy S. And yes mine is rooted also, and yes it's modified mutch like yours, and I would like to modifie it some more, hense the request for framework-res.apk.
I'm sorry to say that I'm not sure how to extract it from a rom that is not flashed in a phone.
Yes I'm a little newbie in some things but I came here to learn and to try things. I didn't ask either of you to build me a rom or make me anything, thats what I'm trying to do myself, and not bother anyone whit my wishes.
A bit off topic. Sorry for that. If you can't or won't upload thats fine to.
PS You don't have to be mean.
I've uploaded for you framework-res.apk from old Enomther's build, which is somewhat resembling stock. I really don't want to download 80MB of a stock ROM only to extract a file from there and put it here. And as I said, most people that are rooted and run stock ROMs aren't able to help you, having no idea what to do because they rooted the phone without any understanding, and those that are, mostly run custom ROMs and don't have stock ROM available. My current framework-res won't help you either, because it's modified.
Nexus ROM is a simple ZIP file, packed with exactly the same directories as the ROM, and all the files in them. In the /system/app, you find framework-res. Extracting the file from there is as simple as extracting the file from any ZIP archive.
This wasn't an attack, but an explanation and suggestion to do something yourself. Obviously it didn't work.

Thank you. And your wrong it did work. It made my keep reading and managed to extract from a stock rom I downloaded. So I have to thank you because you made me work harder and now I know how to extract files from an .img.
PS I still think you were talking a little bit like you are superior to others.
No offense of course that is just my opinion and it might be very wrong.
Again thank you for your help and I mean that sincerely.
Well, I was maybe a bit sarcastic, but I didn't mean to offend you at all. Sorry if it sounded harsh.
P.S. I completely forgot that stock ROM doesn't look like custom ROMs, and contains complete IMGs. There is an easy way to extract them - using unyaffs - but you already know it, since you did it. I'm really sorry for forgetting that part, if I'd remember that - I'd point you to the relevant guide to begin with. My bad.

It's actually so easy to know the exact build of Mango that it contains just dump the VersionID.txt from the IMGFS with HTCRIE as it contains all the compilation information.
someone has a link ?
I can't find it on samfirmware.
ROM is not deployed at this time because the files are not signed.
SamFirmware are looking for a solution for that ROM can be flashed.
what approximate date of Mango release??

Found KD1 on Samfirmware but it doesn't like my Onmia.....KH1 not in the list of download options, maybe a news article?
KD1 is signed by WP_ENGINEER certificate (or whatever, but it can't be flashed on our devices with our current SPL). The same is probably the KH2 ROM. If it was at least on their website, I could check whether it is Mango or not and whether I should mess with it around or not
The ROM I8700XXKH2 will not release !
What about power users?
This version will be release soon. With new radio and MANGO.
http://www.samfirmware.com/apps/blog/show/8355882-windows-phone-7-5-omnia-7
And for information there is another version for dev : ROM I8700XXKI1
If I understand the blog post correctly, they say, that they could not release WP7_PRODUCT ROM, so they released only WP7_ENGINEER.
If I had spare Omnia, I would give it a try, but I don't have one.
Hmm. I wonder if this one will have the new localized display languages?
Samsung could make a case in court against us.
Because the roms are officialy not released by Samsung we can't do this.
The only thing we can do is releasing the rom so you guys can try it by yourself.

Okay, me and Ceesheim are trying out something.
There is .cab.pks file in the update, that contains only OEM specific updates:
http://clip2net.com/s/19zi6
(left extracted ROM, right the update package for the same item)
Ceesheim is trying to flash it through "Zune", I don't have spare phone to mess around on
Will keep you posted.
// The only thing that might be problem is the Radio (PHONE) part, as that one is not updated. Yet we update RIL in one of the packages :/.
so as far as I understood they released a rom BUT no one can install it because it is only for engineer phones? what are we supposed to do with this release????
f5 f5 f5 f5... waiting for news!
Actually
the enclosed .cab.pks contains everything - new bootloader (5.3.0.8 - but BE WARNED, it might be LOCKED TO WP7_ENGINEER RATHER WP7_PRODUCT! So further flashing Retail ROMs might be blocked!), new radio (2424.11.7.2) and the new drivers set (2424.11.8.2).
The update was succesfully deployed, and the phone booted fine.
Ceesheim is still trying some functions (phone, SMS) and I am trying to take out the new bootloader from the update package.
Yes, as I was afraid, it flashed WP7_ENGINEER bootloader onto the phone with the rest of the stuff too.
Until I can figure out which package contains it, DO NOT FLASH IT! or you will be locked to ENGINEER ROMs only!
