I was going to buy carpet dye from a local seller once, but he responded in an email for me to **** off when I asked about paying less for less dye (since only a small portion of my carpet was bleached).
People in this world are jackasses.

The insults were pretty funny though...I'd be mad too if someone was trying to buy my product for less than it costs.

Used cars on craiglist and the wrath of scammers

Hello all, I have been seeking a cheap used car to use day to day that'll save me some gas. What I found was primarily nothing but garbage and scammers.
One case that stands out is the one I experienced just yesterday, I found a car advertised on craiglist for $2900.00, it was a 1997 Honda Accord with advertised miles of 106k miles. I went to take a look at it and asked if there was any problems with it the owner told me the speedometer was broken and all it needed was a speed sensor. I do not know much about cars so that didnt mean much to me. I took the vin number down, told him I would call him back after I look up a car report on the car.
The car report said in 2008 the DMV reading shows it had over 132k miles on the odometer, I was glad I checked the report. I called again and asked again what the miles were and he said 106k and I said the report said in 2008 it had 132k and he says yes it has 132k. I questioned him which one was it 106k, which he just told me or 132k and he said 132k and I said why did you just say 106k and he hung up.
So I posted a craiglist ad, not accusing anyone of anything but it simply said, the car fax report said in 2008 it had 132k miles and odometer reads 106k so it might have been set back.
Well thats where the fun begins, the guy didnt take too kindly to that.

The way I have been doing it for free is that ebay motors lets you list a car for free, and if you input the vin number it also shows you the car report. So I list for auction, get the car report, then cancel the auction.

Those voicemails were lol.
On another note. This happened to a girl I know except she didn't know the odometer wasn't working till after the sale.

Well some interesting news, it looks like he sold the 97 Accord since its no longer on craigslist.
but.... it looks like he listed a different car using a different phone number and a different location. I will confirm tomorrow but it looks like this guy does this many times.
Well the plot thickens, I noticed the same typo in the new post as the last post and did a search based on that typo alone and it led me to some other posts of his which had a different phone number then I googled that phone number and saw him posting ads looking for a part time auto body painter. So this guy is a professional shister.
In every ad he has a different number, he has so many different phone numbers. If he got pissed on the first car of his I spotted and I didnt even know thats what he does for a living, he is really going to hate me.

I generally avoid Wal-Mart like The Plague. I know that I can always expect to see disgruntled employees who generally give two craps less about me than I do about them. I also know that I will find 50 registers and only 6 of them open at any given time. I also know that the other patrons of the store are going to be more embarrassing to me as a member of this species than to themselves.
Knowing all of this in advance, I decided that I could avoid the interactions and have a simple in-and-out experience by purchasing my item online and simply picking it up at the store. I made sure to purchase it at noon today so that when I finished working, I could just swing by, pick up my stuff and leave. Six hours is plenty of time to fill a single item order.
I received a confirmation e-mail saying my item was ready for pickup at four o'clock. I finished up work around five thirty and headed over there. I got to the store and went to customer service at about five forty-five. I stood in line waiting for someone, anyone, to show up to man the CS counter. After waiting for ten more minutes and having two other associates page for help, I began to think that this was not going to be the simple journey I had imagined.
A CS rep finally showed up and "helped" the two people in front of me. She then picked up the phone that had been ringing since before I was in the line and proceeded to have a long conversation with someone who didn't seem to want to make a trip to the store to process a refund. I imagine she wanted Wal-Mart to mail her the cash, but that's just me.
Finally she turned her attention my way and told me that I was in the wrong department. I had to go to the back of the store to pick up my order. Fine. Whatever. I just want my stuff, so I can leave.
I went all the way to the back of the store to the pick up counter, which, of course, was not manned. I wandered around and found someone who kindly paged someone to help me. I sat and waited for ten minutes before getting up and finding someone else. This happened twice more before a manager finally showed up and told me that the pick up counter was closed. I showed him my e-mail confirmation which expressly said I had until ten o'clock that evening to pick up my crap. I also informed him that I had already been waiting 45 minutes for someone to help me.
As it turns out, the girl who was supposed to be at the counter was simply on her break. She finally got around to helping me, and said that the order had not yet been picked. I asked her why they sent me an e-mail saying it was ready. She wasn't sure, but vowed to find out. I sighed at that and asked if I could just go grab it off of the shelf myself. Electronics was thirty feet from where I was standing. She said that if I pulled it off of the shelf myself, I would have to purchase it separately. What the F*** ever.
She consulted with some other girl who showed up to join the discussion. I paced to show my frustration. It was now approaching seven o'clock. They disappeared into the warehouse to find my item as though it were some magical artifact on some RPG quest.
At seven twenty-five in the evening - one hour and forty minutes after I showed up at the store - the girls reemerged and produced the item I ordered. I waited for them to finish logging it out of the system, grabbed it, and left without any further words to them.
Total time from parking to leaving - 1 hour, fifty minutes.

I bought something on Walmart.com to pick up at the store. They sent me an e-mail saying it was ready. I went to pick it up, but it wasn't ready. I waited while several incompetent employees tried to sort out the mess. It took almost two hours to park, get my stuff, and leave.
Please share your thoughts.
For those unfamiliar:
Walmart is a national chain supermarket. They are famous for having everything you need from birth to death, but no employees competent enough to help you make a purchase.

Once I went to walmart and then I walked back out...the end!
Also Walmart is notorious for having unmanned departments...I hardly ever shop there.

I've been to Walmart once, in Mississauga, That's in Ontario...Canada...I live in New York. Yep, no wall marts here in the city. And I only went into that walmart to buy a redbull.

I work across the street from one and had my usual split shift, being bored as $hit I took it upon myself to sit infront of the store and record the amount of overweight customers visiting the store. I sat there for an hour and a half drinking malt whisky out of a travel mug counting the scum of the neighbourhood. There were hundreds of ticks on my notepad in that time and I believe the end result was the majority of the patrons were between the ages of 40 and 55 and of them 80% were what I would call overweight. I even made a graph to hang up in my locker to remind myself what I would become if I fell for everyday low prices on high fat foods. Of all the age groups I counted 78% were overweight and out of the hundreds of people I saw there was only one 10/10 and she was walking out of the store with a large amount of toilet paper. :|

Most of the customers I saw in the store tonight were drunk as well.

gota love wal-mart man we have one in every town in louisiana and let me tell you bob is so right 50 checkouts and only 3-6 workers. each line will have 10 or more ppl in them with some stupid person taking 30 secs to scan each item

I've learned to pay for everything at the cs desk.

I like Walmart got everything i need in one spot, plus there prices are fair. Poor customer service at times but i figure stuff out on my own anyways. I got my phone new and two weeks early before release date for 99 dollars with upgrade. Tmobile store wanted 299. sooooo until Tmobile site match those prices Walmart well be my go too source.

I must be super lucky. The WalMart in my town always has manned stations, accepts returns within a month no matter the condition, but employees have no idea about anything in the store except where it is, yet they're nice people HEB is even awesomer, so many free samples. You don't even have to buy anything, and you could've consumed a meal, and I know so many people that work there ^_^ Sadly, besides my small part of town, Walmart, HEB, the movies, the square, the lake beach and some other places are considered the centers of the town and people say it's boring :/ I'm content with all of that o: I think that's alot!

You could get your phones new on Amazon for $50 with a contract upgrade. Most of them are $0.01 for new plans.

Wow. That's not only rude, but also unhealthy. You can't combine those items in a bag. My first job was at a Winn-Dixie when I was 15. That was back when you could still get a job at 15, so I guess I'm showing my age a bit here...
We weren't allowed to put different items in the same bag like that. It didn't matter if it took one bag per item. You just can't put ammonia with bread.... idiots....

Not to offend anyone, but I worked at Walmart off and on, usually during the holidays for extra cash. Walmart is all about political correctness and empowering women in management positions, and well, you all see the end result of that business model. A lot of their policies and way of doing things is very counter productive in a business. Ask any employee to best explain how Walmart operates, to sum it up in one word.....clusterfuck.

Making fun of ppl in walmart is fun.

We found hair in our pizza, and filmed the confrontation (funny video!)

So i'll give you the background information before you watch the vid. Recently we ordered a few pizzas and wings from a ny pizzeria. They showed up literally 2 hours late (delivered), and when he got there we still tipped him and soon realize after he left that we only got 20 out of our 50 wings. We called and the kids at the pizza shop pass the phone around laughing like its a joke. We complained about the wait and the missing wings but they really didn't care. We were all pretty blown away since we had the guys on speaker phone.
Anyways, a few minutes later my friend found a peace of hair in his pizza. It was cooked right into the cheese so gross. My other friend than called and told him he wants to speak to the manager and what had happened. Again the pizza guys played games not believing us and so on. The "manager" than says f it bring the pizza in we'll give you money for THAT pizza alone. We hung up and drove over. This is what happened, wait for the end haha. . .

BTW since my idiot friend didn't realize the window was going to break while he was bare ass, first instinct was to book it. Until we realized we got it delivered to my friends house :whyme: . The home owner went back to the store to pay for the window, while the cops showed up and so on. In total it was like a $400 window.
The worst part is, that pizza place DEF wouldn't of filed a police report because it would of been very bad publicity on the pizzeria.

[help] car accident

Hi, I'm mostly active in the htc rezound forums but I just want some perspective from someone who knows about my situation.
Here's what happened.. I was traveling home from a town an hour out. My wife, infant son, and I were all in the car. I saw cars ahead pulled over and people outside theirs cars, so instinctively I attempt to slow down.. Big mistake.. The road was all black ice and I instantly began to spin sideways. I was only able to slightly correct the car and still ended up going off the side of the road at 70mph (going the speed limit) . We flipped about 2 3/4 times landing on the passenger side.
Everyone was ok, baby was still asleep
Anyways, I am only insured with liability.
My car was paid off, but now I'm stuck without a car, no way to get to and from anywhere. I don't know anyone in my area besides Co workers and I need a car.
Is there any thing I can do to squeeze some very needed money out of this situation? I will probably get about 300 for the totaled out car. I feel so wronged like I was jipped out of my car and almost lost my life and/or family
Anyone who has had something like this happen (icy roads) I need some advice please. There was nothing I could do, there was no salt on the road, multiple accidents occurred before they finally shut down the highway a few miles back.

Yes and yes, made an insurance claim.. I'm waiting on a call from the agent now. I told them about the ambulance ride we received and that they checked out all three of us at the hospital.

Just seeing if anyone else has been in this situation.. Not looking for insurance fraud or advice on suing the city. Just maybe if there's any other type of claim I can file... Like I said I just feel wronged because the roads should have been maintained.. The last time there was precipitation was about 5 hours before the accident.. It just seems like there should have been some type of warning or precautions or something :/

Well, my sister got hit by a Oakland city bus. She is ok now, it knocked her off her bike, bad cut on her elbow, and a dislocated shoulder. It was clear it was the bus drivers fault. Witnesses and everything. Despite all this the lawyer says it's still going to take at least a year for her to see any money, probably longer. The moral of the story, getting money from a city is no easy or short process.

I doubt you're going to get any kind of money since you only have liability and black ice probably falls under an act of nature or some such. I don't see how the city would be on the hook for anything.

I don't think the city is liable to pay anything, though maybe you can squeeze out some more money from the insurance company.
If you have a lawyer friend, have him read all the clauses, terms, conditions etc of the insurance agreement and see if there is any scope.
Insurance companies only pay the depreciated value of your car. You need to check up whether the depreciated value of your car is what they are paying you.
Having your insurance claim fully accepted is rare. Best of luck.

There is probably nothing you can do and no additional money you can get. Having liability only is a dangerous game imo, full coverage can save your butt.

Hind sight is 20/20. Considering you have a family with a very small child, you should have had planned better for this. Liability only is for those who know if their car is wrecked, it isn't worth fixing and have money available for another car if something happens.
I have always carried full coverage on paid off cars since I hit a deer when I was 17.
Best bet is to buy another car. If you have really bad credit, best chance is probably drive time
