[Q] Gingerbread

I would like to see how my x2 will run with Gingerbread, does any one no when we will be able to update to this? Also will Gingerbread allow the use of dual core?
Many thanks
First of all, the kernel used in Froyo for the 2X/G2X is supporting dual-core. But of course, Gingerbread may make better use of dual-core. But again, both cores are used at the moment on both the 2X and the G2X.
Secondly, T-Mobile wrote on Twitter that Gingerbread was not close away for the G2X. I think it will be released by the end of this month. But it is just a guess.
For the 2X, LG have reported a release in either june or july.

If you want to test install a rom manager to make a backup of yours and after you can try CM7 just to have a look... is interesting
After it i suggest for daily use to come back not to stock but to some Froyo with Modaco base

Many thanks for that, I am looking foward to Gingerbread and unfortunatly not a patient person.

LG is still same in term of updates. Slowly updates, very slowly. After O2X will never buy products from LG !
Freakin joke.. omfg. Been waiting like hell.
Good job I bought this with CM in mind.

I bet CM7 stable will be up and running with the most important features plus more long before LG manage to say ROM.

2.3 what the f...

Now LG say 2.3 after the summer on swedish site
That must be a joke,
but by the way... i'm sure lg will bring android 2.3 to the 2x when cyanogen brought 3.1 alread!
There is no CM 3.1 ROM, Honeycomb is still closed source.

I'm sure he means, that by the time 3.1 (Or really ICS, 'cause HC isn't going to be opensourced) has been turned into a CM release, LG might release GB
When they realese it then CM8 would come with Ice Cream Sandwich!
I am just joking.

Wrong section - stop replying people, thread needs to die.
Why is there yet another thread about this???
We all know it was delayed, and I think more and more people know it won't come at all.
I got 2 email replies from LG. The first one said the update will come after summer for sure. The second one said there is no precise date for the update, not even after summer.
So to sum up:
n°1 LG is telling us all to go **** ourselves on this one
n°2 It's useless to open a new thread every time LG tells us to go **** ourselves
n°3 LG is ****ing ****
Froyo -> Gingerbread upgrade is not all that big. Most of you won't even know its running gingerbread vs froyo. Not sure what the big deal is.
its not about the software update, we have CM7 for that.
Its about the kernel update that we want from gingerbread.
And also, are you kidding? "most of you want know the difference" ? where do you think you are? this is XDA why do you think where here?

Pretty sure most of the people *****ing about it want it for the sake of having the number "2.3" written on the version screen as oppose to "2.2.2". What will gingerbread let you do that you can't do now?
If you're having issues with the phone (reboots/freezes etc) then fair enough otherwise just chill. It's just a phone.
I had a HTC Legend before Optimus 2X. And when the stable cm7 rom was running in my phone it was WAY faster then with any stable custom Froyo-rom. And 2.3 looks very nice. 2.3 also has the Screen-off animation, and a function to select text in messages and on webpages to easier copy, edit or delete parts.
Thats what I can remember I miss atm..

Yeah you're right, we need the kernel to produce better and stable CM7s or other gingerbread builds >< If only we could get our hands on one single Optimus 2x kernel source code ><
Dont know if you have tried CM7 lately but its VERY stable, at this point the only thing we need LG to fix is maybe the battery drivers

Yeah the battery drain issues ><
Gb will surely bring a lot of stuff to o2x as I understand. Most important imho proper use of dual core and gtalk videochat. Guess a lot of people will notice the speed improvements at least.

I almost agree.... cm7 rocks and no point at all using standard rom however the battery aint so bad is it? I manage live wallpaper, fair usage on wifi, 3g and 3 hours a day audiobook ( yes works tough going lol )baseband/rij 725 and she lasts a day no problem ........ if you think thats bad you should try my wifes iphone 3gs!!!
edit:- lcd brightness is also up full tilt
edit again.... why doesnt lg/htc/etc etc hire the cm devs? as far as im aware they dont get paid much if anything other than the odd donation and a new phone here and there for a hell of a lot of work.... surely if anyone should be doing the official roms its people like them who love their work?

Is there work being done to get MIUI or CM7?

Just curious if anyone knows if any of the Devs are working on getting MIUI or CM7 on the D3. I'm assuming we're waiting to "ride the wave", so to speak, on the progress made for the Bionic. Am I correct?
They are working on cm7 right now there is even a vid showing it on the d3 so it should be really soon

A video of the d3 running a good portion of cm7 was posted on droidlife earlier today: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/10/04/video-droid3-receiving-some-cyanogenmod-7-love/
Not everything works yet, granted, but we're close.

miui is based on cm7, so until cm7 is out there won't be much going on in the miui scene. and i've heard reports that it could be a couple weeks before cm7 beta
Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate it. Great news.
I really hope someone coes out with miui ROM for the Droid 3. itd be really nice.

We have people working on that too.
I love CM7, but in that case is much more great for me, because in standard d3 we make chose lang. between ES or US and in CM7 i finally will be make pickup PL.
And power widget in notification bar is great in cm7
Could anyone tell me whether CM7 or MIUI will also be made for the XT860? Or will they work out of the box on XT860?

I would GUESS that they would work on the XT860 as well. I know from my experiences with the Desire Z (Canadian version of the G2) that the ROMS worked on both phones.
I'm no expert so if I'm wrong, someone please correct me.
Waiting on my New XT860 to get here =D

Well in the other topic they say it will probably NOT work... this is really confusing.

It would be great if any of the ROM devs would be able to comment on this.

Probably won't know until an alpha or beta is available and someone takes the plunge to test it on the XT860

Downloading now, thanks heaps for your efforts!
Not Working:
Sound
Celluar Connectivety
Both Cameras
PTP / USB Mass Storage
Battery Calibration
Not exactly suitable as a daily driver, but it's always nice to get an early taste!
EDIT: Just came back from a quick test session and I have to say this ROM gives a very solid impression considering it's in alpha. One thing to add is that the Wi-Fi signal strength seems worse than on the nightlies. I was unable to connect to a network that would normally give me two out of four bars.
Missed this, thanks!
It might be worth making a 'not working' list in the OP as this thread is sure to get some attention.
So far I count:
Sound
Mobile Data
Both Cameras
PTP / USB Mass Storage
Battery Calibration
Calls
SMS/MMS
Edit: Oops... Missed above post
Thanks! Our first taste of ICS.
if the G2X project makes some progres, will this rom for our O2X be updated ?
thank you for letting us have a quick taste of Ice Cream Sandwich , I must say .. I really like the overall feel of Android 4.0 and I can't wait until this is suitable as a daily driver.

First, I want to say thanks to the developer that ported our work of art to the Optimus 2X but we are also working on a Optimus 2X build so there is no point in doing so. I guess this is good to give people a taste of whats to come. Look out for the final build from a developer by the name Benee.
Keep checking the original post for updates.
Edit: Just spoke with Benee and he is unsure if he will be releasing Alphas or waiting till the build is up to Daily Driver standards. I will keep you guys posted in our thread over in the G2X section. Once again thanks to the dev for porting the groups work over to the G2X.
Thats great news , if you choose to release the alphas it would be great but not very useful to the general public, and if you choose to release it when it is stable , im sure we can all wait
Unable to download
It seems that I'm unable to download from Rapidshare. Will any kind soul please upload it to Mediafire? Thanks in advance.
just curious, what capacitive button now substitute for the multi tasking button?
great, hope this will be the kick point for our O2X
Just to be sure, does it need a full wipe before flashing?
And I must say lots of thanks to the original g2x developers as well as the porter
If you're coming from another ROM, definitely yes.

Think positive! if more ppl test it the sooner we will have a stable release.
And you can wait as long as you want, but there are people who check the forum 10times a day, waiting for something like this to try.

@andy010101
I didnt post this in the DEV section for a reason. But doesnt matter now. xD
Put "preview" into topic title. So ppl shouldnt expect to much from this ROM.

Questions about CM9

Hello everyone,
I'm seeing that quite a lot of devices are getting CM9 alpha but as long as I know, our phone didn't get this goodie... anyone of you can tell e if CM9 is actually in progress or they are waiting NVidia for let them use the sources of Tegra2?
Many thanks,

Arcee has already got it working on the O2x, he just needs to fix the cameras on the devices he's been working on. He doesn't want to release anything before he has fixed everything, and CM9 is ready for a release. So we should see a release/nightlies during January or February
Firstly, please can you post these sort of questions to General or Q&A instead of here. Thanks.
Secondly, CM9 for O2X is in progress but the devs won't release it until all the major functions are working. So might have to wait for nVidia to release sources so that everything, mainly camera, is working. As far as I know cm9 isnt available for any devices apart from GN and NS.
EDIT: Kiljacken got there before me
Many thanks for your replies, and sorry to post in this section, believed it was more dev related since I was asking infos about CM9 early alphas
By the way, you all got the point, I just wanted to know if there was anything done for the O2x, just because I didn't notice anything anywhere and I was worried our phone could be left aside because of the developing difficulties.
Many thanks,
wish you all a good new year
