Galaxy Tab problems after stock restore - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a UK unlocked (no branding) GT-P1000 Galaxy Tab. I flashed it to a custom gingerbread build on Win7 X64 but later wanted to revert to stock. After a lot of searching I flashed the device with P1000XWJMI. All went fine and device booted back in (with a foreign language set as default but I've changed to English via settings).
When connecting the device to Kies it now says "This version of the device cannot be updated". It never used to say this before! It used to say I was running the latest firmware. Can anyone advise what the problem is?
I've seen some threads referring to something with a CSC mismatch and to alter using *#272*IMEI# and changing the code but I didn't want to do this without being certain what I'm changing.
Presently Kies shows:
PDA: JMI
Phone: JMA
CSC: JM4 (CPW)
I'm running Kies version 2.0.1.11053_99
Thanks
Craig

Is JMI stock for your tab? Besides, the country code might be wrong.

I didnt know how to find the correct stock for this tab. I just saw in a post that someone else form UK had used this so I went for it.

i had this issue also , and i didn't know ever how to make it work
so ppl said that you have to download app from the market that plays with the PDA and CSC to change them to what ever you want without flashing any other rom
Darkpal guide :
My way is DANGEROUS. You need to know what you're doing to do it. IF IT MELTS YOUR TAB am not RESPONSIBLE.
1. Do a Rotobackup of your existing firmware or any backup to your efs folder (regular backups won't work).
2. Download an app called SpoofFW
3. Put the PDA, Phone and CSC of a known stock firmware (like your asia
4. reboot.
5. connect to kies.
thanks for him not for me , but to your info i couldn't understand what to do with the app maybe you wait someone to describe it for you

My case is different. After updating my ROM back to stock, all the versions are OK, despite the software and phonebook remains (but I noticed that my photos in gallery are deleted, which is what I wished).
My question is how to restore it to the REAL factory setting state, without any additional wallpaper and software that I installed?
Thanks for your attention, and wait for your advise as well.

If I understand you correctly, you have to:
[*]Press menu
[*]Settings
[*]Privacy
And there you'll have the option to do the factory reset.
You can also do it by booting into recovery (volume up + power on) and selecting it from the menu.
Cheers,

My tab is from the uk (got it from amazon uk) and it was jmi/jma/jm2 (cpw) on the last update. Before that it was jj7/jk5/jj5 (cpw).
Maybe you can try downloading an older euro rom from samsfirmware and go from there. Don't forget jmi had locked bootloaders.

[Q] About risks of flashing froyo and branded phones.

So on samfirmware you can download the froyo firmware and other files, and now I'm wondering: how safe is it, if I have a branded phone (austria (drei)), to flash the firmware? It says for jpm I need to first flash another firmware from there, so I'd probably do that too.
What does really happen though? Will it be unlocked and/or unbranded, could it break something, and is there a way to backup my firmware in case something goes wrong?
And how would I get it back when flashing breaks something, like if download mode then doesn't work anymore or something.
Oh and, hi I'm new here
I also have the SGS from Drei.at. If you would like to unlock your phone,
it's turned out to be (surprisingly) very easy: just download from market SGS_Unlock.apk.,open it - and you will get your code.
Now, if you want your phone being unbranded and running better than before, but not Froyo although: you can make the registry hack and upgrade to the latest official build via Kies. Here is what I did:
".....I changed registry from
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000NEJG3/I9000DREDRE/I9000NEJG1/I9000NEJG3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDDRE"
"HIDSWVER"="I9000NEJG3/I9000DREDRE/I9000NEJG1/I9000NEJG3"
to
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000SWC/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEE"
"HIDSWVER"="I9000XXJF3/I9000SWC/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"
Now after upgrade, I have:
I9000XWJM2/I9000XEEJM1/I9000XXJM1/I9000XWJM2
GT-I9000HKDDRE
the 3 branding is gone, but in the phone it says :
Firmware version:2.1-update1
Build number ECLAIR.XWJM2........"
Now the phone runs much smoother, I don't notice any lags (before I had a lot of problems), and have some minor improvements overall.
The only thing I would like to mention is: now after upgrade, if I am going to Firmware upgrade in Kies, it says: "This device's version cannot be updated" instead of something like before: there is no update, as you are running latest version.... Not sure why this happened, but at-least I know that there some people also got this message.... may be it's because at first I've upgraded the phone and then unlocked it, but I don't know.....
Not sure yet how serious this situation is for upgrading the phone via Kies when Froyo will come out officially, didn't have time to research it... But in the worst scenario I always have the possibility to do it manually - 3 buttons download mode is working.
I know this is not exactly what you were asking for, just thought may be this info also would be any helpful.
Nothing stops you from re-flashing your carriers firmware either, so make sure you have a backup using rom manager or check and see if your original firmware is on samfirmware.
Also, backup your /efs folder just in case, and make note of your apn settings.

This is a really strange combination of firmware.
NE stands for H3G Nordic (Sweden)
Are you sure it was like that?
I900ONEJG3 would make much more sense (-> ONE Austria)

No mistake here, I copy-pasted that from registry before upgrading.
Thank you.
I also want to debrand my orange galaxy asap... I have unlocked it already and have backed up the efs folder.... Download and recovery both work... Not sure if i should go the KIES root or odin... But i freakin hate kies

[Q] Debranding SGS and updating to 2.2

Hi guys.
I just got a SGS yesterday as my HTC Desire was stolen last week.
The one I got is a German T-Mobile branded phone (has customised boot and shutdown logo) and I really wan't to get rid of the branding and all those useless apps on it. I live in Denmark so i have no use for T-Mobiles apps that don't work here.
Now i have been reading a lot yesterday on these forums and reading lots of guides but I'm still unsure what route to go. Currently the phone is running 2.1 and I wan't to upgrade to 2.2 or 2.2.1 but unbranded, and then root the phone a bit later and probably move to Darky's Gingerbread edition ROM.
From what i can gather there are 2 methods to do this, but I can't really find out witch one would be right for debranding.
1. Using KIES registry pattcher and change my product code to XEE (Nordics) and try that to flash it to official 2.2 and root that.
2. Using this [HOWTO] manually flash Samsung Galaxy S with JPY firmware ** WORKS **
If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome.
[EDIT] Forgot to mention that i can boot the phone in both download mode and recovery mode holding the 3 buttons, so no need to fix that first.
Information on my phone:
Product code from KIES registry:GT-I9000HKDDTM
*#1234#
PDA: I9000BOJG3
PHONE: I9000BOJF1
CSC: I9000GDTMJH2
Build number:ECLAIR.BOJG3
Firmware revision:2.1-update1
Baseband:I9000BOJF1
Kernel version:[email protected] #2
1. Using KIES registry pattcher and change my product code to XEE (Nordics) and try that to flash it to official 2.2 and root that.
Thats the way to go but you would be best to safe a copy of the current ROM for warranty purposes as you would need to flash it back to make a claim .
Flashing via Odin only if you cannot use method 1 .
jje
Ok, thanks.
But how do I make a backup of the current rom? There is no download for it at far as i can tell.
Get Backup from Samfirmware.com
Go to Samfirmware.com click on Firmware then go to Firmware Section. Select then Android and then Galaxy S GT-I9000. Then download the I9000XWJG3 firmware.
Done

But XWJG3 is not a T-Mobile branded firmware is it? If it is nothing on these guides makes any sense.
Btw I did find a I9000BOJG3.rar file on some download page, downloaded and it does contain the following files that match my current versions. I have no idea if it's a working flash but if it is I would be able to flash thsi from odin to return to stock right?
I9000BOJG3.rar file contains:
CODE_I9000BOJG3.tar.md5
CSC_I9000GDTMJH2.tar.md5
MODEM_I9000BOJF1.tar.md5
Oh my Fault. I tought that only the ending is important (Like if the ending is JP7 than it's a Vodafone Firmware and if the ending is JG3 it's a T-Mobile
But XWJG3 is not a T-Mobile branded firmware is it? If it is nothing on these guides makes any sense
You get branded firmware from the network operator .
All firmware on these pages is non branded .
Again my suggestion is to use Kies registry patcher and spoof the update to whatever you want .
jje
I'm also trying to debrand my SGS and get Froyo, but I'd also like to make a backup of my original ROM. However, my ROM isn't available in samfirmware.com. It's I9000BVJJI1 and I want to update to I9000BVJJPD, which one of my friends has and probably is the same hardware.
Is there any way to backup my original ROM?
Your rom and every network rom comes from the network Sam is generic base roms .
Back up = Clockwork Mod Recovery to save the rom .
May i repeat if you dont know what you are doing then dont this forum is littered with broken phones belong to newbies who have not bothered to read and understand and now need to take the phone back to Samsung for repair with non valid firmware that has invalidated the warranty .
jje
Just did the update via KIES using the patcher and everything went smooth.
Saved the new firmware during flashing and a factory reset after the flash as i had basically nothing on the phone yet.
Right now I'm on 2.2
PDA: I9000XWJPA
PHONE: I9000XXJPP
CSC: I9000XEEJP4
Not rooted yet, but I'm gonna do that tomorrow probably.

[Q] (Q) No 3G signal after returning to XXJPY, any ideas?

Hello guys!
After getting this phone from a friend i have to return it to stock Froyo XXJPY, coming from MIUI.
I managed to get it back to XXJPY: PDA: I9000XXJPY
PHONE: I9000XXJPY
CSC: I9000XAJPY
Problem: I'm not getting any 3G signals!
And KIES isn't recognizing my phone as something i could flash to the next official update.
Can you guys help me out here? Im not a pro in flashing, though i can learn pretty quick.
<edit> i'm from the netherlands, on Vodafone. (if that matters)
Check your APN settings.
I live in the Netherlands and have a SGS from Vodafone to.
Do this:
"Instellingen -> draadloos en netwerken -> mobiele netwerken -> Namen toegangspunten"
Then press the menu key, en click "nieuwe apn"
You can find the settings here:
http://www.vodafone.nl/zakelijk/kla...n/Instellingen_per_toestel/?#settingslocation
Merk -> Samsung
Model -> i9000 Galaxy S (onderaan)
stel het toestel in voor: Internet op je mobiel
Then there is a small button at the bottom saying "Handmatig instellen? Toon mij de instellingen"
Click it, and there will be the settings you have to enter.
This worked for me too when i flashed using repartition.
Mathijs
PS: if you want to go to JS5 (XEN), here's the download link for ODIN & CWM:
http://www.androidworld.nl/forum/sa...-froyo-xwjs5-flashbaar-via-kies-odin-cwm.html
Okay, thanks!
But is was wondering... I used the EZrom to get back to a sort of stock rom to eventually flash jpy.. But i only did repartition with flashing EZROM... Not with XXJPY...
Is that where is has gone wrong?
Also...when connecting to kies, when i want to look if i have any updates, it tells me CSC: JPY (KOR)
I am not really familiar with this problem, and i haven't ever read or heard anything like this.
Okay, i followed your advise and flashed JS5.
Partial Succes!
I am getting a 3G signal, so that half of the problem is solved!
Now the KIES part:
KIES tells me I still can't update my phone to any future updates..(2.3??)
At Current firmware version it says:
PDA:JS5/ PHONE:JPY/ CSC:JS3 (KOR)
I believe that the CSC is the problem here...could it be?
When playing with roms, it sometimes happens that the productcode gets set to KOR.
I've had something like that ones, but my product code changed to XEE.
I just flashed a dutch firmware like you did, but i factory resetted, then my product code changed back.
So i would suggest you to do a factor reset.
However i'm not 100% sure if it will solve the problem.

It is the CSC that Kies reads and knows whether to update or not. If you want to do it through kies you have to get the right CSC for your area.
You could try this
dial *#272*imei#*
put your imei in where it says imei. It can be found under the battery.
doing this will show your product code and may also give you the option to select a different one.

Kies doesn't support software upgrading anymore

I have been checking out a number of RoM's, like Overcome 4.1, and ICS CM9, and because I hear there will be an Value Pack update for the Galaxy Tab, I'd like to be able to go back to stock for the European GSM Tab region The Netherlands (PHN). I'd like to wipe it and flash it to JMK, a Froyo ROM that includes the CSC for The Netherlands, and then let it update via Kies to GB JQ8 PHN. This used to work before, but now I get an error in Kies about not being able to update via Kies. There seems to be a problem with the region, as it thinks it's region yyy. Odd thing is *#1234# show the right PDA/phone/CSC and confirms region is PHN, which is correct.
Is there a way to make Kies accept the Tab update? Is there a file on the Tab that holds the region? Maybe it's corrupt?
I've searched everywhere (including here) for help on this issue, which seem to occur quite a lot after flashing a ROM, but I have seen no solution.
Done this by flashng 2x or 3x. Then reboot tab and pc. Setup everythng in the tab including samsung hub updates. Try it if its ok with you.

[Q] Kies upgrade and initialization

Hello guys have a question for you.
I installed Kies on my PC a few days ago. I connect my Note and everything seems fine, I can browse the device, see my memory usage, see the firmware version that is installed, etc, but every time I click on the firmware upgrade and initialization option I get a message box saying: "GT-N7000" does not support initialization.
what does that mean? That I can't use kies to update my device?
I know my device is rooted but I guess I still should be able to use kies to update my device, right? am I mistaken?
I have the same problem.
I also see the same message when I hook my one up

im on the stock unrooted german ICS, when i connect to Kies it says that "your device does not support software upgrading via kies!!!" anyone know whats up with that!?
Erase Kies that you have right now, go to Samsung.de (german site of Samsung) and install their latest version of Kies. Open Kies, run device updates in Kies and reboot your phone and THEN connect phone to the computer via USB cable. I had the same message and this solved my issues.

Had the same problem was on indian (inu) version of gb and upgraded german ics.... had this message also.
I changed my csc code to dbt and it seems to have fixed that.
this is what i did
in dialler type
*#06#
this gives imei number note it down
then
*#272*your imei from above#
select dbt and hit start.... does a factory reset though so be warned
also i am a noob so cant garantee that this is safe, this worked for me now when i connect to kies i get the this is the current firmware message, however i dont know if its safe, my phone has never been rooted also.
just need to fix the charging paused voltage to high message without having to connect a usb stick conector and removing it now.

I had many more options than that but i chose the option that matched the area the rom was from.... was on a inu rom to start changed to german release (csc is dbt) so i changed it to match.... now ive flashed the lpf rom instead and have the same prob again.....
Hi
Can anyone speak easy to understand solution for a noob like me.
I have stock ICS, Indian.
how do you know if you have Indian or german update .. Last time the samsung service center installed German update on my note
please, did you even try to search?

if any of you superbrick your phone on stock kernel and unrooted by changing csc which triggers wipe/factory reset dont do anything fancy and contact entropy. you will know youre superbricked if update via pc Odin sticks at factoryfs for forever. (or longer then 30 min)
