On Screen Phone - LG Optimus Black

Hi, does anyone ever succeed with LG On Screen Phone? i've installed all drivers including ADB ( with usb debugging both on and off method ) but it always fail to connect everytime after it asks to input the password (0-0-0-0). please help.
thnx!

i had problems at first but it was due to a driver problem. i use windows XP. i can use it both via usb and bluetooth, though much slower with BT but with USB the phone gets very hot as it's charging with too little power.
it's an awesome feature, like if your texting with someone you can write way faster, perfect when you're at work.
i've read about that some people had to use usb debug to make it work but i don't. make sure there's no yellow exlamation marks in the device manager, cause then some drivers aren't properly installed.

You could also try droid vnc server beta, its more like a remote desktop server but for the phone so its the same but it will go through wifi or 3g, i didnt get it to work but i think its because of my isp.

Hahaa I know, although I'm using mac in the office for some macos exclusive software but no thanx I prefer PC as main computer to do design job, moreover I have EIZO IPS monitor at my office and AOC IPS for my home PC so mac is not required.
Yeah osp is working now, thx man. But it has annoying bug, when I press power off button directly on the phone then powered on again to display lockscreen, osp won't update. So I must restart osp...
Unfortunately I don't have wifi on my computer so I can't try it. Maybe I'll test it at my office.

My N1 and Windows 7(No connection while USB mode)

It seems that when I try to connect my n1 to my CPU, my CPU can not recognize my n1 SD card while its in USB mode.
I am currently running window 7 32b. I thought it was my windows that was faulty so reformat my CPU with fresh copy of windows. However that was not the case. So I tried my other computer running windows XP and it picks up the SD card instantly. So I tried a new SD card in my N1 tried it again. Didn't work. I am confused. Everytime I need to transfer files from my CPU to my n1 I have to pull out the SD card. Its strange. All the drives were installed correctly but it will not detect. Other CPU will detect. Is anyone having this issue with windows 7 on your computer. I wan to fix this. Its really getting annoying. Please if you guys have any ideas let me know. I even called HTC and they figured out its my CPU not the phone. And I agree. It works on other windows but not my windows 7.

Make sure usb debugging is checked marked before trying to mount....See if that works

USB debugging works fine. I am able to use adb commands. Funny thing is phone thinks its in USB mode. There's got to be some driver issue or something. Drivin me crazy.

If all else fails...get one of those WiFi file transfer apps. Way, Way, Way faster than transfering through the USB cord on the N1 (tops out at 2mbps).

Try another PC. My Home PC that I built used to recognize it... then stopped... then wouldn't for weeks... and just the other day I noticed it found it (after a minute).
Today on my netbook (EeePC 1000HE) it gave me fits a few times before coming up.
Nothing really changed on my Home PC really and USB sticks would read just fine, but not my N1. I know I reset the thing many times without success so finding it working was surprising.
One thing I use are my existing mini-usb cables and I picked up these little mini-micro usb converters. Perhaps those are flaky?

Can't Connect via PC Companion wirelessly.

Ok i've been trying to connect wirelessly to my laptop for more than an hour now. I do every step and when it comes to "to to usb connectivity and click on laptop name and then connect" it just hangs on connecting on the phone.
On PC it says that PC Companion will move to next step automatically when connecting is done. So, what I am doing wrong? Laptop is with Win8.

Edit: one other thing you can always use/try is a wireless adb install/push from Google play depending how good you do knowledge is
Adb install (location on computer) sdcard0 (or 1 for sd card) \ I think it is
But have a read about it because you can even get a log cat from it

Well you have lot of options to minimize opening of flaps.
First of course try to fix wifi network between xperia and router. Check for DHCP settings, try using WDS option if you have it.
I would also check if phone is recognised in windows networking.
there is an app on playstore that should work and prolly lot of them on pc
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smarterdroid.wififiletransfer&hl=en
You could get cheap dock and use it for sync and charging, you just change usb from charger to pc
Bluetooth transfer.
What should I check regarding DHCP? Also how can I check if my laptop is recognizing my phone?
It IS recognizing it when it's connected via usb.
I'm looking for DK26 dock but it looks like everywhere is out of stock or not delivering to my country. There are only overpriced sellers 40pounds + PP

Okay so your laptop is connected wirelessly and your phone is connected wirelessly with then same router?
If you install a adb wireless open/run as I have said in Op, enable debugging and then open adb and type adb connect "your phone's ip which the app on your phone will say"
Now does it say connected or failed if it says connected then type adb devices and you should get back your device adb code, if this works then I am wondering if your firewall software is blocking PC Companion to connect but I personally don't use PC Companion as long as adb works and a wifi transfer then that is all you need because in the incident that you need to use Senior flashtool that is done via cable
By the looks you are in the UK as well I have had a nightmare to get a Sony dk26 dock just keep trying because I bought mine Monday when they came back into stock but then by the time I had paid they had sold out again so I got one just in time

I had it working only one day, don't know what happened now I can't pair it wirelessly with PCC.
The Sony PCC write a file in the root of SD with the name of your PC when you do the pairing, delete it and retry. Also sometimes the procedure is very long I remember with other Xperia sometime it took almost 10/15mn to get it done.
If you want a third party app there is Filepush (here on xda and play store) that transfert file over wlan but only in one direction PC > Devices.

Yes, and its unable to connect.
I connected it to other router and it worked, but I dont know why its not working on netgear...
Well it looks like Pc Companion may be problem, I never use official programs because they mostly do not work good, like samsung kies for example.
However I tried this program I already suggested to you:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...transfer&hl=en
The program works just like it should without problems, maybe you could give it a go to check if its working for you.
Or you may use some other app that behaves similiar, and add that network location to your windows for faster access sync.

Airdroid is even better, it works amazing.
I paired my Xperia Tablet Z in less than 5 minutes same setting as usual, then tried to pair my Xperia Z, no way!
Don't know why mobile doesn't work while tablet does...
here is my 2 cents.. looks like I am resurrecting a dead thread. I tried to connect my tab Z with wifi.. I read the instruction clearly I think it says that the computer must be connected to router wired. Anyhow I tried connecting with network configuration. On 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 I could connect it to router both with wifi.. upgraded to 4.4.2 its a no go. I get
this.

Mounting phone without HTC sync

Is there anyway to mount this phone as a mass storage device?. My work computer is very limited and locked down. With previous Samsung and apple phones I was always able to plug into my work pc and transfer over pictures because is mount the phone. Now I am not able to do that.
Any suggestions?

I think the only reason you need sync manager is the htc driver for Windows to recognize the phone. When I plugged mine in without it, I got the notification "device not recognized" but with it it said "installing driver" which then let me explore it like a drive. I'm sure you could find the driver somewhere on xda though if you can't install sync manager I'm not sure if you could install an external driver...
You could always just do Bluetooth transfer no?

Does the computer not have Bluetooth or something? I ask because I transferred pictures to my PC by Bluetooth last week so I know it can work.
A bit OT, but unless it was jailbroken no apple product will let you drag pictures onto it like a usb drive. So I'm assuming yours was in which case you can bypass the need for a driver. Anyway, how about Dropbox? I use that frequently too and it works great for pictures (or anything really). Plus you don't have to install anything on the PC.

Ever since JellyBean, I have not been able to mount any Android device as Mass Storage, plus I read it has to do with the JellyBean system itself rather than the device. So in short, no, you cannot, unless there's a third party application for that.

Possible, though I really doubt the computer could connect to an ad hoc wifi network based on the info so far. Without bluetooth I think you're out of luck for file transfer on that computer with the One...Except of course the old awkward standby: email

Note 3 won't connect to PC, Kies 3 installed and everything

So I've run into a weird issue that was happening with my Atrix HD the last few days of its life too and now over to the note on my laptop.
I know this is probably a more computer specific problem, as it's recognized on my desktop but I'm running outta ideas here so maybe someone can help?
I've been flashing and rooting and all that jazz since android was released so I know how to work it and my thinkpad was accepting mtp/android connections as recently as september. I unlocked my Atrix HD bootloader and all that but couldn't get the phone to accept the twrp so eventually I just gave up because it was just a stop gap phone.
But now with my new Note 3, I can plug the phone to the laptop and it'll charge but it doesn't bring up the MTP notification (all my androids do this now)
I've checked device manager, it's not even an unknown device in the list..so weird.
Anyone run into this issue before? I know it's not really phone specific but yeah.
thanks in advance
Are you using it on a USB 3.0 port? My home pc only recognizes mine if it's plugged into USB 2.0. Fought this same fight last night myself. Good luck.

to both of you, my thinkpad (for some awful reason) doesn't have usb 3.0, so no there isn't any USB 3.0 issues.
Literally plug it into my laptop, and nothing. no response from the computer at all not even in device manager, just starts charging as if the phone was plugged into a low voltage socket or something.
baffling.
works absolutely fine on my desktop, but I don't have all my adb and sdk tools set up the way I like them on there.
I have no idea.
ERR edit that it just started working :/ weirdd

Do you guys have any programs that's suppose to charge devices faster with usb? It has to be software related on your laptop

To everyone with this problem, you have to specifically download the Note 3 drivers from Samsung
samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-N900VZWEVZW
I was having the same problem, but now both Kies and manual usb file transfer work perfectly on Windows 8
I have same problem here as well ?? its not reconizing my phone in usb 3.0 and i have the newest drives as well for note 3 gn 9005
got it working
Had the same problem after trading in handset, maybe there is some kind of hardware identifier messing things up for usb?
I removed (uninstalled and deleted) drivers for usb, including for hub then reinstall hub drivers followed by reinstall driver option in Kies3 to install samsung drivers. This got everything working.

Your going to mess your phone up some kind of bad playing with those settings if you don't know what your doing. Also please don't recommend doing any of that without a trustworthy source because you can cause another person to mess up their phone as well.
The Note 3 does NOT support BC 1.1. That's what "Fast Charge" or whatever they call it is. Your phone will not use that connection so there is no workaround, just disable the BC 1.1 function.

Yes I stand corrected however I always mess with these settings in order to unlock 90% of the gsm galaxy lineup. This is just a different way of mounting your phone to the computer at least that is what I was told and have been doing for a while. I have tried all the methods on the note 3 and so far no problem. I have been using my phone like this for a while without any hiccups and I had this usb problem since day one on my SAMSUNG laptop so I tried this method which worked. You can easily switch back to the same setting but once again you might be right about the messing up your phone part. FYI MTP just stands for media trasnfer protocal I think so I went with it after a little research.
Just letting everyone know what worked for me no harm done

Try using a USB hub,,, 2.0 or 3.0.... this will work......
Go to device manager then to USB find the Samsung driver uninstall. Plug your note 3 in then your system will see your note 3 and reinstall your drivers. Then your good to go.

From what I remember I had tried both and neither worked before re-installing as described

"USB device not recognized" - worked fine yesterday [SOLVED]

When I tired connecting my HTC vivid to my computer through the recovery's 'enable MS-USB' option, my computer (Windows 7 64-bit) states that is does not recognize the device (I get the list of ports, and can see the "unkown device"). I've plugged it in multiple times, but it still doesn't recognize it. Fastboot doesn't seem to recognize the device either (using "fastboot devices -s" displays nothing.
The cable seems to work fine, as it connects my LG rumor touch to my PC just fine and I can see all of its SD card contents.
I was having issues getting my vivid connected and charging before, so I'm thinking it might be the charge port. Any agreements, advice, or other suggestions?
----------------
UPDATE!!!
----------------
Just got my new charge port in today, and I can say without a doubt that my problem was the charge port! Popped the new one in (I almost laughed at how easy it was compared to replacing a cracked digitizer), and right away I noticed that the new port sort of... kept the cable plugged in better. It started charging instantly as opposed to the game of getting it to sit just right, and my computer immediately started to install drivers.
Hooray! Now I can fastboot again! And actually transfer files from my computer to my phone easily! And actually charge the damn thing without feeling like I'm trying to find its g-spot.
I recall getting something similar to that quite a while ago (I think it was back on CM10.1, so this was a LONG time ago ) where my computer (Win 7 Home Premium 64bit) wouldn't recognize my Raider when I connected it via the USB charge/transfer cable that came with it. And also like you, fastboot was not recognizing my phone either.
I think what I did then was restart my PC as I figured that perhaps it was failing to load the drivers upon that boot. And after my PC restarted and everything was stable again, I connected my phone to it and it understood it with no issues. Hasn't happened to me since.
Also, what recovery are you using? I use TWRP 2.6.3.0 and I've never had any issues with it.
I'm using CWM made for wcx, but cannot remember the version number. Unfortunately restarting my PC hasn't fixed the issue for me, nor did booting into another OS.

I'm using CWM made for wcx, but cannot remember the version number. Unfortunately restarting my PC hasn't fixed the issue for me, nor did booting into another OS.

If you are going to insist on using CWM... Make sure you have an RUU handy for when it breaks your phone...
It WILL happen...

Unless I'm mistaken, an ruu wouldn't help me, as my PC does not recognize the phone at all, no matter how I attempt to make them communicate.
Also, I've never heard or read about cwm recovery screwing up or ruining anyone's phone. I got the impression it was one of the most stable recoveries.

CWM is improperly compiled...
WCX is amon ra based... And works as far as I know
And TWRP is what I use... And hasn't steered me wrong yet

OK, now that I have flash image GUI, i 'll try twrp and see of that fixes my issue. I did find out that my micro USB chargers don't seem to charge the phone anymore, only hooking up to my computer charges it.

As lame as this sounds, I find that when I get this error message, it is not driver-related.. it's USB port related. My front USB ports do this to me sometimes, so I have to reach to the back and plug in to one of those... that usually does the trick.
So far, didn't matter what USB port I use. Also reinstalled windows (had to do it anyway) and no change. I'll try it in my gfs computer tonight.

HTC and USB not recognised
projectisaac said:

Try this solution: Uninstall any torrent software, restart the computer and try again.
Multiple operating systems, multiple machines, no torrent software on my windows 7 side.

Ok, so an update:
Just got my new charge port in today, and I can say without a doubt that my problem was the charge port! Popped the new one in (I almost laughed at how easy it was compared to replacing a cracked digitizer), and right away I noticed that the new port sort of... kept the cable plugged in better. It started charging instantly as opposed to the game of getting it to sit just right, and my computer immediately started to install drivers.
Hooray! Now I can fastboot again! And actually transfer files from my computer to my phone easily! And actually charge the damn thing without feeling like I'm trying to find its g-spot.
